Just a note. Last year I dehydrated some canned #10 plums. I ended up with 3/4 gallon of juice, my husband used it to make wine. All I can say is wow it is delicious. Just another idea for all the juices from canned fruits!.
I have an Excalibur dehydrator. It’s a 9 tray. I’ve had it for a good 29 years & it still works as well as when it was new. I use it year round, as well as letting friends & family use it for their abundance. It was worth every penny of the purchase price.
Hello Linda! I've been watching your videos for a long time and I just wanted to say thank you for putting a positive and easy going spin to prepping. I love that! Please keep them coming :-)
I have done this several times since first watching this video. Perfect every time. Nice for a snack. I just put some in my hot tea - fabulous! It plumps them and puts great peach flavor in my tea. (then I eat the rehydrated peaches.)
My original Excalibur dehydrates are 35 years old and still work perfectly.I gave one to each of my adult sons and I bought two nine tray Excalibur s! You can't go wrong with them!
Looks good! NEVER go by the expiration date on cans unless it is a tomato product. I have one pantry that is full of cans that are five, ten and fifteen years old and eat them all the time. If the can is not rusting, dented or bulging the food is fine. Sure after ten years you might only get nine% if the vitamins instead of ten% but the food is fine. In 2010 a friend and I ate some packaged taco meat that expired in 1992. It was great!!!!!!
hey linda, use by dates just means you'll still have firm peaches, you can keep them at least 5 years beyond that in the can, but not tomatoes in a can, that 2 years past that date is pushing it, but we also dehydrate etc.
YES ... Finally found what I've been looking for!!! After dehydrating for the first time, I was hooked and now have four 9 tray dehydrators! I take advantage of sales in both fresh and store bought cans. I'm going to see how they re-hydrate in the saved juice LOVE dehydrating!! New subscriber,
Thank you! Just got a dehydrator. Apples.went great next canned pineapple then frozen cherries. Your instruction is clear and encouraging you are a natural teacher!!
Thanks for the idea, Linda; Rick and I can only eat so many canned cherries, and I want to get my 1 litre jars back; this'll be a perfect thing to do in my solar oven.
Hi Linda, I just tried dehydrating the peaches like you show in the video. OMG they are awesome like you I rinsed the peaches off. 1 can same size of yours did a pint & half jar. :) So Good. Thank you again & I agree it is a lot cheaper & easier doing it this way then from fresh. If I got fresh for free I would do it that way. Yet around here they cost a lot... :) Thanks again.,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your wonderful videos - I just can't get enough and they are so incredibly helpful - and I share you on my FB page all the time. Hugs and keep up the great work!
i love my nesco dehydrator. we do the same thing with older cans of veggies and i make canned dried soups with them as well, just open the cans and add water, great on cold nights when you dont wanna cook alot
Thanks Ms. Linda for the class lol. I learn a lot from you. Your such an inspiration. We wasted so much food through the years. I think of all the money we can save now. Thank you!!!
As a peach lover, I can tell you that video made my mouth water. I'm still learning and doing dry canning right now but I'm probably going to do a dehydrator next on my way up. to pressure canning. My food saver comes tomorrow and I can finish some dry canning that I have done. After looking up the Excalibre, I see that it's out of my league (and price). So, a nice Nesco $57 on Amazon is affordable. Thank You so much for the video and education. Hot Water Bath canning will have to wait.
Hi Linda, I want to let you know that you inspired me to buy a dehydrator and I used it to dehydrate my first batch of bananas, pears, and apples. Took about 2 days and I have come down to the kitchen to take them out. Sadly very few of them will make it into the storage jar. I have a sweet tooth and I am supposed to cut back on my sugar intake.....'hey presto!!' They are so more-ish! Thanks for sharing although I am from the other side of the pond so a lot of your terminology sort or puzzle me. Still I love site!!!😊
Thanks for the video and information. I always appreciate the way you rehydrate your product and show how to do it . We are getting a dehydrator in about another week and we will be looking in on your videos often. Thanks again for the information.
If storing for a long time, it’s best to also use a sterile gloved hand to pack the dried peaches.... even washed hands often have microscopic bacteria and moisture leading to contamination. Great idea though. Love the video. I use these dried peaches/apricots and white grapes to make chutney (the Mrs Balls recipe).
Yay! This is exactly what I'm doing right now, too. I'm cleaning out both the pantry and the freezer and dehydrating like crazy. Can't wait to see what you do!
Girl, you are a really good food photographer. Whatever you do for a living, you missed your calling unless your getting paid to take pictures! Great video.
I have the 9 tray Excaliber I bought from Amazon a few years ago for around $250 and it seems like the fruit leathers I've made are really good without flipping them over.
I love dehydrated fruit. My all time favorite is apricot! My dehydrator stopped working, but when it did, I used to make fruit leather. Love that stuff! Thanks for sharing Linda!
I just say buy a new one watch Facebook market place, I scored a top of the line Excalibur that works wonderfully for 20$ and I know they didn’t pay that for it
You have totally inspired me to "think outside the box". I ordered a Nesco dehydrator a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. First thing I am going to try is peaches. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos, they truly are a huge help to newbies like me. :)
I just saved 4 bunches of bananas that were to be tossed after Thanksgiving because my neighbor didn't want them. :) I am going to surprise her with a nice batch of dehydrated bananas when they are ready. :)
Been dehydrating for many many years. It's amazing what you can save in size and weight by dehydrating. Farmers markets can be a boon too! PS Love the channel (hubbies channel is pretty good too)! LOL
I keep my dehydrated Fruits and vegetables in the pantry for three years. I guess they could last longer, but we typically rotate through them every 36 months.
I am very new to dehydrating and the first two things I made was apple rings and fresh pineapple. Needless to say I think my dehydrator is going to be working overtime. Xx
Another really good dehydrator similar to the Exalibur, is the TSM Products Harvest Food Dehydrator (sometimes called Good4U). Has 10 trays, fan and heating element in the back and temperature setting and timer on the top, all like the Excalibur but about 1/2 the cost and the electronics are warrantied for 10 years. I love mine.
I never thought about dehydrating canned peaches before. I am thinking they would be good in baked oatmeal or even scones..this is a great idea. Thank you for making this video. I am looking forward to the next video that you dehydrate! Jeanie
I have the 9 tray Excalibur and I love it! Have some cases of veggies to dehydrate as like you, I buy them and if we have not eaten them by the 'best by date', I dehydrate them for long term storage.
Absolutely any juice. I have also chopped and froze cilantro inI cube trays, pop out and bag. I also froze eggs this yr. But having a blast dehydrating this yr because we should be prepared
Since I no longer live in Arizona with the massive peach tree in the back yard I haven’t been able to find a fresh peach that tastes good. I love canned peaches so I’m gonna try this.
I also have and use this same dehydrator. I recently purchased the Excalibur along with some Para Flex sheets. I have to say, other than the trays being square, I had just as soon have/use my Nesco! When using the Excalibur, for me it takes longer drying time. Maybe Im doing something wrong??? My Nesco does just as good, if not more so than the Excalibur! I used both during gardening season this year. If I ever have to purchase another dehydrator, it will be a Nesco! Just my own opinion tho!
Carol Anne I am still using both my Nesco and Excalibur for this season. Both are very good dehydrators....but I dont like having to purchase the teflex sheets all the time for the Excalibur. I tried just using parchment paper, and it works ok, but not like the teflex sheets for it does. So basically when Im dehydrating fruit leathers I use the Nesco that came with the trays.
In Ft Worth, Tx, there is a "close out" grocery store [Town Talk]. Great prices all the time, but to REALLY save money, I buy those monster cans of tomatoes when they are sold at $1.00 per can. Yes, I said one dollar per can. That is the only canned item I buy, due to allergies to chemical preservatives. Everything else is fresh. My nieces & nephew grew up on my "fruit leathers". I have some diced peaches that need to be rotated out and into dry-storage.. They'll be perfect in trail-mix or granola... Love your videos - Thanks for all you do !!
I love canned peaches and i have bought the great big cans of them. I would just make some pies and keep out some to eat. I have 3 dehydrators but don't use them any more. Canning and freezing if I want to preserve . Nice video. Grandma Sue in central Indiana and Izzi Too
Hello Marilyn McClintock from Indiana! I read your post and noticed you said you have 3 dehydraters and dont use them anymore. Any chance you could part with one for a financialy challenged prepped?
I can my fruit with just a tsp of sugar in bottom of jar add fruit then water. I want the taste of fruit only. Never been disappointed. Been doing for 45 yrs.
I really appreciate you rehydrating items in the video! Great videos new subscriber :-) I'm about to purchase a dehydrator so I'm searching here for the best 1 & ideas
I made my own with natural paper loose tea bags and cilica nothing added kitty litter. Works great. Still waitng now over 3 mos for my pressure caps. I dont think I will get them this yr. Have 3 ordered at 3 diff places.
I have some extra lemons, limes and oranges from when I made my extracts and marmalade last night. I will try my hand at dehydrating some slices for husband favorite lemon-lime aide! Tx for teaching us all. Keep up the great job! I love this woman!! LOL>>
while you are feature checking dehydrator specs consider LEM brand also. They are just as capable or more in some specs. and a lower initial cost generally. Unless you are heartset on a excaliber then nothing will be good enough. I ended up with a excaliber and it is fantastic. The LEM seller had inventory issues. I throw dehydrated apple slices into muffin mixes for an added taste treat
You got me laughing when you mentioned your husband. Don't we all have to hide some of the goods from our hubbies, or it would all be gone before we can cook with it?! haha! Guess I'll have to get some #10 cans of peaches and start dehydrating! Thanks so much!
I will have to give this a try. My boys love peach tea but I have not found it here in La Vergne so I will do what you have done and they can flavor the tea themselves. Thanks for the video.
One of my favorite snacks are seasoned dehydrated canned or frozen fruits and veggies, while I LOVE canned peaches, as a snack dehydrated with some cajun seasoning they are the greatest snack and since you are a great out of the box season thinker I am sure you can whip up some amazing spice mixes for sweet fruits.....hint I need suggestions for watermelon. Also my suggestion for he juice is make a fruit roll up with it!
I had seen this video, and one day we went to Costco and they had a huge stash of the #10 cans of peaches, so we grabbed one. Fired up the old Ronco dehydrator I got for $5 at a garage sale, and bingo, dried peaches. Girl, they were GONE in a matter of days. So much for LONG TERM food storage! The guys loved 'em. If you keep this up, people will look forward to SHTF!!
Lol 😜 same thing here kids are like mom how about u give us that Monopoly money so when we finish our chores and we get paid we can go in to your shtf stash and we us some goodies 😉am like waaatha🤯no need for outside scavenger here 😅
Freeze then thaw add to cake mixes just subtract other liquid , add a few cubes to chicken dishes in crockpot. And pork too. Add one to veggies when cooking
Hi Linda, how long will these and other fruits last in jars after you remove all the air? I have been trying to look for it and nothing is coming up for me. Then Voila, I found you :) TY, and those look amazing! I have some in my dehydrator now with Strawberries and bananas too :)
I bought a Cabela dehydrator. It lasted a year 😥 it died last week in the middle of doing 18 tomatoes. Ugh. I ran to Canadian tire and they had one escalaber left for me. Phew!
I have been watching your videos , old and new . You can say i am addicted , as I learn many things, plus I like the way you explain thins. I do have a suggestion for the nest time you use Peaches, save the liquid and turn it into Jelly ... Smile. Ninette Bird - The Caribbean Wife..Red Bluff, Ca
Wow that Excalibur’s expensive so I just bought the NESCO one should get it today but They didn’t have extràs plateformes so I’ll have to wait for those. I did get the extra fruit roll ups
Thanks so much for showing this idea. I would have never thought to do canned peaches! I bought a can of peach halves and had to slice them myself and they came out fantastic! It did take a long time to dehydrate, about 14 hours for me. It is good to set them up before going to bed so you don't have to worry abaout checking them at all. However they do stick tight to the tray. They turned out like jelly candies. :) They had a texture and a chew like dried apricots and almost tasted that way until you chewed them up more. I love apricots but they don't agree with me and now I see I have a substitute for dried aprictos. Dried peaches! And what is best is that I have dried peaches that are not sugar coated like they do in the store. I have been running about telling all my friends to try these peaches. They love them too!
Terrific idea Linda; I'm always tossing expired/soon to expire fruits and veggies.......I assume you can do the dehydration with canned veggies as well as fruits? I usually use frozen and they've worked great. Can dehydrated fruits such as peaches be used "as is" once rehydrated......for instance, as fresh fruit in a peach melba or peach shortcake?
Just a note. Last year I dehydrated some canned #10 plums. I ended up with 3/4 gallon of juice, my husband used it to make wine. All I can say is wow it is delicious. Just another idea for all the juices from canned fruits!.
I’ve powdered dehydrated peaches and added to pancake mix, cake mix, muffins, and tea. Yummy 🤤
I have an Excalibur dehydrator. It’s a 9 tray. I’ve had it for a good 29 years & it still works as well as when it was new. I use it year round, as well as letting friends & family use it for their abundance. It was worth every penny of the purchase price.

Don't forget to save the juice from the canned peaches. You can make peach jelly with it! Same for most canned fruits! No waste, no want :)
Thanks for the heads up! Now i'll can some instead of dehydrating it all :)
:)
How do you do that?
I don't waste the brine of ANYTHING!
You can also freeze the syrup in ice cubes and use it in juices instead of ice. Or add it to ice lemon tea instead of sugar
Looks good! NEVER go by the expiration date on cans unless it is a tomato product. I have one pantry that is full of cans that are five, ten and fifteen years old and eat them all the time. Great idea rehydrating in the saved juice! How do you save it, freezing?
How fascinating! I'm chopping melocoton for sun drying. Never crossed my mind about tinned fruit!
I love your videos. You are the only one I have seen that shows the rehydrated process. Thanks
Wonderful! And thank you for doing the rehydrating!
U r such a sweetheart. Ty. Love that u show us the both dehydrating, and rehydrating.

I find it amazing how small a container is needed for storage after foods are dehydrated.
i love my nesco dehydrator. we do the same thing with older cans of veggies and i make canned dried soups with them as well, just open the cans and add water, great on cold nights when you dont wanna cook alot
Thanks Ms. Linda for the class lol. I learn a lot from you. Your such an inspiration. We wasted so much food through the years. I think of all the money we can save now. Thank you!!!
I like to sprinkle ginger on the slices before dehydrating! Adds a little zip to counteract the sweetness.

Many times the same item, NEW, but an opened box that was returned is available at a fabulously discounted price on eBay.

Cut a hole in your dehydrator and stick your hair dryer in there.
I think I’m gonna find a recipe for this my son will love it I finally got him to try my home made beef jerky and he loves it now
I just say buy a new one watch Facebook market place, I scored a top of the line Excalibur that works wonderfully for 20$ and I know they didn’t pay that for it
U can use your oven just the same.
My oven actually has a dehydrator function on it and I have 3 shelves. If yours doesn't have the function, 125 to 150 degrees.
Love it. Make ice cubes with the syrup and use in tea. Yummo.
You have totally inspired me to "think outside the box". I ordered a Nesco dehydrator a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. First thing I am going to try is peaches. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos, they truly are a huge help to newbies like me. :)

Yes i like our prog,
And love pech.I have 2 large tree,

I keep my dehydrated Fruits and vegetables in the pantry for three years. I guess they could last longer, but we typically rotate through them every 36 months.
I did this with pineapple rings that were nearing their expiration date. They didn't last a week! Lol!

I did these about 3 years ago and it took a good 15 hours but was so worth it. YUMMY - Peach Candy
I never thought about dehydrating canned peaches before. I am thinking they would be good in baked oatmeal or even scones..this is a great idea. Thank you for making this video. I am looking forward to the next video that you dehydrate!

I have the 9 tray Excalibur and I love it! Have some cases of veggies to dehydrate as like you, I buy them and if we have not eaten them by the 'best by date', I dehydrate them for long term storage.
Using a Foodsaver vacuum and jars you can save the dried goods even longer. Thanks for the video and information.
could you freeze the juice in an ice cube tray and add to iced tea?
I have. I make my tea a bit stronger, but it works for me.
Absolutely any juice. I have also chopped and froze cilantro inI cube trays, pop out and bag. I also froze eggs this yr. But having a blast dehydrating this yr because we should be prepared
Thé Cosori is great too. And very quiet.
Since I no longer live in Arizona with the massive peach tree in the back yard I haven’t been able to find a fresh peach that tastes good. I love canned peaches so I’m gonna try this.

Thanks for your review! Trying to get different opinions ))))
Never knew you could this I am going to try this. I'm inspired
Whew Chile 😂😂😂 I’m so done. Jasmine never fails to amaze the people 😂
In Ft Worth, Tx, there is a "close out" grocery store [Town Talk]. Their dad bought them some commercially produced fruit leather & they said they were "icky" & they wanted Aunt Cissy's. All I put in them was fruit. So have fun ~ it's TOTALLY worth it !
I got my dehydrator today!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! It's beautiful. Can't wait to put it to use.
Tianca
what brand name? trying ti get a Iot of info from different peopIe -)
You can use the juice for making a cake or simple syrup for lots of things.
I have some diced peaches that need to be rotated out and into dry-storage.. They'll be perfect in trail-mix or granola...
Love your videos - Thanks for all you do !!
love your ideas on dehydrating from a can . very easy
You can also do frozen stuff!

Frozen fruits and veggies :)
I love canned peaches and i have bought the great big cans of them. I would just make some pies and keep out some to eat. I have 3 dehydrators but don't use them any more. Canning and freezing if I want to preserve . Nice video.

I bought a #10 can of sliced jalapeños I am going to dehydrate tonight then a batch of fresh slices to dehydrate for me to compare them
Thank you Linda, This video was very helpful!
while you are feature checking dehydrator specs consider LEM brand also.

I love your videos. You inspire me.
I like to break up my dehydrated peaches and put them in my oatmeal....oh so delish!
Glad to know i wasnt the only one thinking of putting those dehydrated peaches in my oats 😊 sounds so good on a cold morning.
Yes I have and they taste like candy when dry Love them
Wow, what a great idea Linda! thank you so much!
I like the antlers in the background, lifestyle credability

Cool! 2022 is my year to learn dehydrating.
I bought a Cabela dehydrator. It lasted a year 😥 it died last week in the middle of doing 18 tomatoes. Ugh. I ran to Canadian tire and they had one escalaber left for me. Phew!
wow that's cool . mothers day coming around. im asking for one of those. and they look beautiful. thank you much Las vegas
How convenient. I have got to try that.
Thank you, I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Cans that large aren't available in grocery stores where I live. We don't have a Costco, so mall cans would have to do.

Thank you Linda, this is great...
Can dehydrated fruits such as peaches be used "as is" once rehydrated......for instance, as fresh fruit in a peach melba or peach shortcake?
can't wait to do #10 cans will be dehydrating rice tomorrow
Lindas got some nice cans...of peaches.
mine has 11 trays and at times I have had two at a time. So that isn't really the issue:)
