As someone that lost my brother unexpectedly and having to clear out his house with my sister, your service would have been so helpful to us...the survivors, You are so respectful of the family, the person that has died, and your audience. Thank you Alex for your compassion in doing something that for many is very difficult.
I don’t often comment because Alex’s following is so large, I don’t know that my comment will even be read, but - I just needed to say that Alex has such a gift for presentation in his videos. He takes what some might call a mundane task of a clear-out and makes it captivating and sometimes fascinating. Not everyone can do that; I’ve watched what many would-be creators put out there, and it’s not particularly interesting. One can only hope they learn from the experts like Alex! So thank you Alex!
Thanks for posting, Elsa; You're right, Alexander brings a thoughtful humanity to a process that is often made out to be sensational or sordid.. his kindness shines through!
Dyson heats and cools and filters air. Very expensive but great for allergy sufferers! My hubby has MX5 here is AUSTRALIA ( seems same as the Miata when I google it) that he purchased from an estate! His is 2011 and had less than 50 thousand Km’s. Tons if extras …he takes folk who are informed and house bound etc for rides and it gives the people he takes and him much pleasure!
I'd like to think the deceased rests well knowing his possessions will help the needy, be purchased by other collectors & hobbyists who appreciate their common likes, and his family made some money and received recovered precious documents. Not to mention having someone treat his home with respect & dignity.
You have always been very respectful of the people whose houses you clean. in a way, they live again in our memories as you present them to us. No one is ever truly gone as long as someone remembers them.
That's a very good point. Whoever owned that condo was clearly a person who liked good quality stuff as well as a person who remained playful. I was wondering, given the number of duplicate items, if the person was a little forgetful, then realized many things may have been received as gifts. One year my mom dropped a hint about wanting placemats for Christmas. She got five sets. :)
I like the respectful way you deal with all of the house clearances you undertake. You make no derogatory comments about the deceased person and the way they lived unlike other people who do similar clearances on RUclips. It's very refreshing that you're not judgemental
It's clear that Alex respects the person who has passed. I really enjoy how his videos are more like "A celebration of a life well lived" and not mopey and upsetting.
Thank you Alex for mentioning the purpose of your business. I was one who posted my feelings regarding the owner who passed and today you showed a side of yourself that I now see you compartmentalize to get through the clean up without being overwhelmed by emotion, which you showed today. It’s kind that you’ve personalized the items as you went through today. Thank you and bless you.
Finally! The first show of this kind that does not make me sick. I usually hate watching these kind of shows because it is like watching ghouls picking over and crowing about the things person left behind or lost due to misfortune. I used to work in Fire and Flood restoration, and respecting the contents of anyone's home, living or dead, was a concept that we understood. We all have friends, family, and people that make our lives what they are. Human dignity is very important. That said, it is a job, and someone has to do it. It's a part of life, we don't last forever.
Looks like the SUV was his daily drive, and the Miata reserved for good weather day trips. I'm not sure but I think the hardtop is removable. There should be a tonneau cover if it does. Looks like your going to do well by this purchase. It is commendable that you are so respectful of the former owners of all the homes you clear for their families. I hope someone like you does the same for me when the time comes. No judgement, just healthy and respectful curiosity.
If you have the time to read all the comments, they are a great addition to the story , so many knowledgeable people helping out our awareness of things.🇨🇦
I have to thank you for your well placed ads - love the little touch with the lights going off into the ads but more I just appreciate the fact you’ve considered it at all - there’s nothing more frustrating than badly placed ones. Gonna watch them right through just as a thanks 😂
My husband is a auctioneer and we have done many estates even living estates where people went to retirement home. Believe me we always get someone who gives us hate whenever prices are not sold at prices they expected or someone missed what they wanted or change there mind. It is posted everywhere sold as is with no guarantee. But also know that my husband will spend time like u do to make old mowers and saws work and show them at the sale. When we clear out for a auction we will dust everything and even clean up any mess that is there. When we have a house to auction we will give our service to paint and clean house and clean carpets and landscape to get the biggest price. We will work so many hours that almost make know money if u count r hours but there always is a child or grandchild that says something. There is always one in every crowd that will shoot us down when we work so hard. And believe me we only charge what u r charged at your auction house and we do your job and auction. Just think positive that u did a service for the family and that is a big thing to take off there shoulders.
Speaking as a crazy plant lady: thank you, Melissa! Considering that the poor man might have been terminally ill, the apartment was pretty clean and tiny. That must have been difficult to keep up with for him. But he seemed to enjoy the finer things in life and I hope he was content at the end.
What a wonderful clean out this is. Everything is quality, new-ish or vintage/antique, and no mice. The miata is the crown jewel, although the color of the SUV.... it's gorgeous too. What a bunch of wonderful things. I think this must've been a wonderful person. They loved so many things, from proper tools, fun cars, and all those little items. We may not take THINGS with us, but I think the joy they brought stays with our soul.
The mine stock certificates were purchased in Reno, Nevada at a coin shop that used to be in the lower level shops at the MGM Grand casino. (I remember the shop well) They would have just been collector certificates from defunct mining companies. Very cool.
Very heart-warming to see Melissa saving that Christmas Cactus. I'm sure it will thrive under her continued care - and will give you beauty at Christmas.
Love this buy out, that Miata is amazing! Everything in that place is so nice, those mid-century dresses are beautiful & all the other stuff, not counting the silver coins! Just WOW!👍👍👍👍👍
You seem to have found lots of useful things here with this purchase. A lot of people will benefit from this find which is lovely. Very nice video. Red car is much better and cleaner❤️👍
I don't know how you manage to do these jobs; to wall it off in your mind and get on with it. I would feel like such a vulture every moment I was in there snooping through everything. I respect the service you provide, and I admire the respect you show for the family.
I just realized why I like watching you clear out houses. I think it's because I just like looking in peoples drawers lol without the consequence and jail time or the people yelling at me to get out. HA LOL ;) :)
I’m trying to clear my parents house. Mum lives with us now. It’s really hard. I don’t like discarding things I’ve known all my life. But your videos inspire me onward. Not that I’m going to find anything of any worth, sadly.
What nice finds today, and the Miata looks gorgeous! That early “laptop” you found actually looks like a word processor. They were computerized typewriters with a small amount of memory to allow you to spellcheck and visualize the text as you went before it was typed to paper. Word processors preceded laptops. The seemed like such advancements over electric typewriters at the time and almost eliminated the need for correction fluid or tape.

These clearances always capture my interest. You can see the person there, even though they've passed on. They leave evidence of their personality at every turn and you feel a rapport somehow! Thankyou Alex for making an Art out of your endeavours! ❤ XXX
Agree with you Alex, you are doing a service for his surviving relatives, and who better to do the job than you! You are very considerate of the fact somebody died and rather you deal with items he treasured, than just anyone who doesn’t know what they are etc.
Hi there! I'm Sharon from Pittsburgh PA and I thought I recognized the "F. Hall" signature on the oil painting. If I'm right then you have yourself a Frederick Hall oil painting and they can sell from 3,000 to 5,000 dollars U.S.. Congrats on your major score!!!!
Love that you are so sensitive in acknowledging the person who left all this behind, but boy! What a windfall! Not that I know how much you bought it for. Continually impressed by how organized this man was. If I were to pop off now, the grief would soon disappear behind the "'why the hell did she keep this?" and the "I don't think we'll even be able to give this stuff away never mind selling it" comments😉
Alex: You couldn't be any more respectful than you are to this man's estate. Your services are so valuable to families who are grieving and just can't deal with the difficult process of going through their loved one's possessions. I know it is hard knowing someone lost their life and you have this task to do but just realize what a blessing you are to the his family & friends.
Alex, you just may have found GOLD with an original oil on canvas by F Hall! From what I know, he lived from 1860 to 1948, and he was British. Purdy darn famous person. I wish you all the luck in the world that what you have is a pricey piece of art. Keep it safe, my friend. Take care.
Yep, if I'm not in bed then I'm trying to clean my flat, It is a constant struggle to keep a clean abode when you are not well and when one of your two cats sheds white hair all year round.
I've never been much of a car girl (in fact I don't even have my license at 35, oops) but that yellow Miata is now one of my favourite cars! She is stunning! I don't think I'd be able to sell it if I were you.
One of my neighbours had one exactly like this, except for the hardtop. Before that she had a blue one for many years. In all honesty, she's a character who'd fit very nicely into one of Alex' videos! Probably at least in her 70s, if not 80s by now she runs what's probably the country's only entomology supplies, specimen and literature store that she inherited from her father. I've never been there but even just looking through the window is fascinating. The store is purely a hobby these days, she and her son get fewer and fewer customers.
Take that Miata for a ride and drive it hard. There is nothing like them. Awesome little cars. Not real powerful but balanced like no other. Find some curves. There is a reason that they are the top raced cars every weekend. I worked For Mazda for 28 years.
It would be so weird to have someone going through my belongings like that. These videos remind us that EVERYTHING stps and is left how it was when you had it and people who are there get so much insight to how out life was
Dear Archbold family. 👍👌👏 I simply have to say it again: Congrats for hitting another jackpot! 2) The yellow special edition Mazda Miata looks soooo good, almost like brand new. This gem is in a pretty awesome condition even under the hood/bonnet. Kudos to the 2 buffing and cleaning guys. I really hope that this little low mileage fun cabriolet (that even has a hardtop) stays in the family. 💛 Unfortunately I don't fit in those MX-5 but I simply love them. New and used parts are inexpensive and easy to get. 3) The red metallic Ford SUV looks great too. 4) I bet that Josh, Hans and Scott have always requirement for extension cords. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
The music in the car gives me an idea of the man's age with him liking ZZTops, Elton John, etc. His other belongings made me think he was younger. And, I have a friend who owns a funeral home and he has the same attitude you do about offering a service that helps the survivors.
You are right Rusty. I had a 2005 ford escape burnt orange in color. It looked just like the one Alex has. I drove it for years. Then during my sickness, it sat in my yard a couple of years. Then I gave it to my oldest son last year. It did not take much at all for him to get it running again. However, last weekend he totaled the escape by running head on into a light pole clipping it in half. Praise God my son walked away without injuries. The ford escape's are made good and sturdy.
The cars came out fantastic! Looks like the storage area will have some nice finds for you too! This has been a great series so far! Love that you are so understanding of the loss and the need for life to continue in a different way! We really can't "take" anything with us is the truth! 😊
WOW, that little yellow car came up a treat, so cute, and the red one also looks good, too. I think you will get some great things out of this home. It is sad to think of why you are there, but it helps the family because it is hard to do it. I know I did it for my mother's, and father's home was very upsetting, deciding things that had to go, memories of our childhood 💔 bye for now looking forward to the next video 💖 from Australia
OMG this dude is well travelled, first saw the poppy which is ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand Army Core) theeeeeeen I saw the All Blacks kiwi toy and the Qantas Plane in box, which is also Australian..........I'm NZ living in Australia so was awesome to see way over your way..........love you channel......binge watching is totally an occupation x
07:54 Not the oldest portable computer I've ever seen . A college prof of mine in the 80s (aka the late Ice Age) had a portable that must have weighed 50 pounds. Had a screen that measured about 5x7 inches. I'm betting it and the one Alexander found are worth money now as collectibles.
As someone that lost my brother unexpectedly and having to clear out his house with my sister, your service would have been so helpful to us...the survivors, You are so respectful of the family, the person that has died, and your audience. Sure looks like a good clean out. I always enjoy seeing Melissa with you. Thanks for saving the plants, Melissa!
It's kind of nice to see a "newer/cleaner" type clean out. This is just as interesting as the horder houses.
What is the item next to the Dyson, that isn’t a modern heater that was turned on when Melisa turned on the dyson? Might be a source of the heat
Dyson heats and cools and filters air. Very expensive but great for allergy sufferers! My hubby has MX5 here is AUSTRALIA ( seems same as the Miata when I google it) that he purchased from an estate! The entire Archbold family are blessings to many people. Great, huge hearts, all of them!
That’s all we need to comment ❤ Well said 😊
I agree. Makes me feel somewhat ok.
Alex made his money back with the 2 cars. Way to go.
This house is loaded with goodies. He must have been a very interesting guy.
You have always been very respectful of the people whose houses you clean. in a way, they live again in our memories as you present them to us. No one is ever truly gone as long as someone remembers them.

The deceased must have been a very interesting man and he certainly was well read. May he rest in peace.
Thank you Melissa for saving the plants! My first thought when I saw them was there was still some life there!
The yellow Miata looks so cute, like it’s auditioning for the next Pixar Cars movie.
You know you watch too much Curiosity Inc. when you've never been to Canada, but you can recognize Canadian Tyre money. 😮
Thank you Melissa, for caring for the plants! I would have done the same thing.

Excellent point. Thanks 🇨🇦
there is always a pervading sadness and yet curiosity in these estate emptyings....a true juxtaposition

It’s kind that you’ve personalized the items as you went through today. Thank you and bless you.

The videos are fun and I always find you and Melissa so respectful of the original owner no matter their lifestyle.

If that oil painting is Frederick Hall he passed in 1948. Some of his work is very pricy. Nice find.
I looked it up and Frederick Hall's signature looks quite different and the painting style isn't similar.
The car is a beauty. Love your house clean out series.
That F.Hall Oil Painting is by Frederick Hall, an English impressionist painter examples of his art can be found in the Royal Academy as well as the Paris Salon.
You weren’t in 2 mins and I spotted Merrill shoes, the Dyson fan and a few other things, and knew this man had considerable amount of money. My grandparents to a T. High end , but very cluttered! Brought back memories. Thank you for all you do for these families
I like how generous the commenters are with Alex's inventory. They know who it all should be given to. Bless their little hearts.
Not sure, but the majority seem to be female and possibly young(ish), I graduated in 1974 and out of 487 in my class I can't think of a single person that got a car for graduation.
I agree. It's always a surprise, but no longer unexpected.

I wonder how much negotiation has gone on from Stephen to keep the Miata 🤣 & maybe the explorer could be for Jason now he can drive
This was a lovely home and, as always, your gentle respect for the former resident and family are well noted.

that oil painting could be a Frederick Hall from 1860-1948. Could be an awesome find!
Love the little Miata. Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
Looks like the SUV was his daily drive, and the Miata reserved for good weather day trips.
The hard top is definitely removable, it attaches to the windshield at the same points as the soft top.
Omg, those bananas! 😆😂🤣
The boys did a really good job detailing the car! Hope you find some more treasures!
I think that little car was smiling 😊

I wish you all the luck in the world that what you have is a pricey piece of art. Keep it safe, my friend.
Take care.
I had a cherry red Miata ...I loved that car!
If his health was poor, it could explain why the apartment was a mess. He may not have felt good enough to clean it up
Yep, if I'm not in bed then I'm trying to clean my flat, It is a constant struggle to keep a clean abode when you are not well and when one of your two cats sheds white hair all year round.
I’m jealous, I love that Miata.
The Miata is definitely your ROI. She looks lovely!!
Melissa your amazing hope you had a great mother's day😊
Take that Miata for a ride and drive it hard. There is nothing like them. Awesome little cars. Not real powerful but balanced like no other. Find some curves. There is a reason that they are the top raced cars every weekend.
I worked For Mazda for 28 years.
It would be so weird to have someone going through my belongings like that. These videos remind us that EVERYTHING stps and is left how it was when you had it and people who are there get so much insight to how out life was
I agree. That's why I'm taking it all with me. 🙂
Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
like the balcony on the apartment.
The man had nice things, I'm glad you are finding good uses for his possessions.
The music in the car gives me an idea of the man's age with him liking ZZTops, Elton John, etc. His other belongings made me think he was younger. And, I have a friend who owns a funeral home and he has the same attitude you do about offering a service that helps the survivors.
I used to have a blue Escape like that one. Loved that little thing. It was such a fantastic ride. Whomever gets it will really like it.
🚙
Thanks Melissa for the plant water❤
WOW, that little yellow car came up a treat, so cute, and the red one also looks good, too. I think you will get some great things out of this home. It is sad to think of why you are there, but it helps the family because it is hard to do it. I know I did it for my mother's, and father's home was very upsetting, deciding things that had to go, memories of our childhood 💔 bye for now looking forward to the next video 💖 from Australia
Great Finds...
