Imho it was a terrible war crime. They could’ve easily dropped that bomb on to the water in front of the cost to demonstrate their new weapon, or maybe onto a mountain or whatever. To drop it onto a big city full of civilians was unnecessary and therefore a murder.

Ray Bradbury wrote a short story titled "There Will Come Soft Rains" that portrays a family house showing one such "shadow" of a child throwing a ball into the air at the moment that the thermonuclear blast occurred.

All the other kids in her class were born on Venus and had never seen the sun. For whatever reason, the sun only appeared about every seven years, and she couldn't wait to see it again, but the other kids locked her in a storage closet so she missed that chance. There are tons of permanent shadows left behind to this day, though this one is indeed the most infamous. For those wondering, the shadows are not really shadows burned into the ground. Rather, the light and heat of the bomb was so intense, it bleached everything. The shadows left behind are actually what the surfaces looked like before the bomb went off, and the objects or people in front blocked some of that light, preventing that section from being bleached. You can see bicycle, fence post, and even clock hand shadows left behind. And, obviously, the shadows of people.
It's really very haunting and tragic, and knowing the science behind it makes the intensity that much more horrific.

Not only that, but the Emperor prevented evacuation of the bombed cities beforehand. America air dropped leaflets all over Japan, describing what the bombs will do and a list of cities that will potentially be bombed. America had hoped atleast the cities would be evacuated, if they refused surrender. Unfortunately, that wasn't allowed to happen. And as sad as this was, the only other option was a land invasion. Which would have caused an order of magnitude more destruction and loss of life, for both sides.

Interesting fact: My great grandfather was in the first and second fleet of planes that dropped both of the atomic bombs in WWII. We still have his flight bag from the war. And even some of the goggles he used. They had a switch in them that made everything really dark so he didn’t go blind. But it boggles my mind how much he went through in those aircrafts. Thankfully he survived WWII. But sadly he died before I could meet him.
Thank you to all of the brave men and women who served during that terrifying time. I greatly appreciate your service. But please don’t judge people by nowadays norms, ideals, and standards. If the people in those planes didn’t drop the bombs so many more people would have been killed.

    Ten o'clock.
The sun came out from behind the rain.
The house stood alone in a city of rubble and ashes.
This was the one house left standing.
At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles.
    Ten-fifteen.
The garden sprinklers whirled up in golden founts, filling the soft morning air with scatterings of brightness.
The water pelted window panes, running down the charred west side where the house had been burned, evenly free of its white paint.
The entire west face of the house was black, save for five places.
Here the silhouette in paint of a man mowing a lawn.
Here, as in a photograph, a woman bent to pick flowers.
Still farther over, their images burned on wood in one titanic instant, a small boy, hands flung into the air; higher up, the image of a thrown ball, and opposite him a girl, hands raised to catch a ball which never came down.
The five spots of paint - the man, the woman, the children, the ball - remained.
The rest was a thin charcoaled layer.

One suggestion, you might want to throw a random bible verse in there for good measure because that would really solidify how knowledgeable you are. Def rec something from Revelations (to go with the conspiracy end times vibe) or maybe hit em with some ancestral verse from Numbers (something really obscure proving how dedicated you are to bible type things).

While waiting in line at the Hiroshima Peace Park Museum, two Japanese men in front of me exchanged some angry words. These words lead to pushes. The pushes led to shoves. And the shoves led to a flurry of angry blows. Suddenly, a look of horror on the younger man's face gave all of us the ability to read his mind. If thought bubbles could appear in real life, the one above his head would have read, "What the hell am I doing?! Have I lost my mind?!" He immediately bowed his head in submission to the older man who spent the next minute or two berating him. From what I could gather, the older man was furious over the younger man's lack of solemnity. Anyway, when sanity prevailed, they tucked their tails between their legs and disappeared into a crowd of dumbfounded bystanders. It's not every day that you get to see a fight break out in the Hiroshima Peace Park.

I live near a nuclear power plant, in school we’re taught what to do if it ever becomes unstable or blows. I still remember my 6th grade history teacher telling us if there was a leak theres still no hope, the radiation would get to our school in an instant and melt the skin off our bones slowly so we’d be left running around screaming while we melted. When I hear test sirens every couple weeks I know it’ll never happen but I always get the image of children playing outside the school and suddenly having their skin fall off.
He said it would be so shocking we wouldn’t feel it so that’s good ig 😀
