A very banging reaction 💃🏼🪘🕺🏼! A conga is a human Cuban drum. The word can also refer to a kind of dance or a Cuban carnival. Conga was released as the lead single from Miami Sound Machine's 1985 album: Primitive Love. It was written by Enrique E Garcia. It was produced by Rafael Vigil and Emilio Estefan Jr. It sampled: Get Up Offa That Thing by James Brown (1976). It reached #1 on Dance Sales chart, #7 on Dance Club chart, #10 on the Hot 100 and #60 on the R&B chart. In Billboard magazine's year-end Pop chart rankings in 1986, the song finished at #40. It was certified Gold. The music video was directed by Errol Falcon. It's set in the fictional Miami night club: "Copacabana", hosting a reception for an unspecified VIP ambassador. In 1988, an estimated 119,000 people congaed their way into the Guinness Book of Records to the beat of the song. In 1997, Will Smith sampled the song for his Top 20 Pop chart song: Miami. In 2020, Gloria Estefan recorded an updated version of the song titled: Samba. Gloria Estefan said in a 2006 Reuters interview: "If I had to take everything into consideration, [the truly essential song] would have to be 'Conga'. First, because I don't think I can get away with not performing that song in some shape or form. Second, because it started the possibility of Mi Tierra (Estefan's top-selling Spanish album) happening. Not only did it talk about a specific rhythm of my homeland (Cuba), it talked about being Latino, and the celebratory nature of dance. It was very musically forward in that it mixed a funk bassline and a 2/4 beat on the drums and the Latin percussion. It was something that really put us on the map. And even though it's a frivolous and fun song, it talks about who we are as immigrants in this land". The song has been featured in some TV shows including 📺: Magnum PI (1987), Futurama (2002), In The Nick Of Time (2006), Baskets (2016), The Simpsons (2019), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2020), American Dad (2023) and more. The song has been featured in some films including 📽: Three Men And A Baby (1987), The Birdcage (1996), Analyze This (1999), Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), The Master Of Disguise (2002), The Heartbreak Kid (2007), Ride Along 2 (2016) and more. It's called "Latin Funk"..and this group was bad-azz at the genre..took the radio by storm and still popular today..as you heard, it can be irresistable! ( My older brother plays sax in one that works in S.F..They got a long-term contract from The local yacht club..the rich snooties that go on the sailing cruises can't stay in thier seats no matter how hard they try, just like in the video!)
Gloria Estefan was another one of those artists that was literally everywhere for a period of time and IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!!

I love your reaction to this video. You definitely need to do that more often.
Check out "Wepa" by them, too. Or Dr. Beat.
