We've seen some crazy displays of speed and horsepower from just about every vehicle under the sun, but *it's hard to not be blown by a Peterbilt 379 dump truck going well over 100 MPH on the highway.*
Big rigs can be pretty quick. A lot of times, the biggest bottleneck in their speed is the shifting. Your basically doing less than a second with the clutch actually engaged and putting power to the wheels in most gears. For quick take offs, sometimes it's actually better to pick every 2nd gear... (2nd, 4th, 6th...) to minimize shifting time loss.
yup I just love hearing the cowboys shifting 3,4,5 times from stop to cross an intersection. If as soon as you get into the next gear its time to shift you are grabbing to many grears
