    Nice video Cade.
    I just got home from “The Yard” in Columbus Ga, where I swept the Novice class tonight with my B6.4D. Everyone was having a good time, and we even had a few people that just came out to see the races.

      I did my first 2 races ever in last 2 weeks and Swept the novice as well, both times, but with my rc10b5m, every other car was a b7, nobody out of 50 plus people that races there has an older vehicle

    Bro didn't mention the Traxxas Bandit. MX Acres here on RUclips is KILLING it with a Bandit build. Even beating up on mid-motor cars despite being on high-bite clay with prepped and sauced slicks.

    I’ve been in the hobby since about 1989 and have raced team associated for a good while. Always can get parts for them and they’re very durable. I changed to the LD2 a few years ago and I love it on turf and carpet tracks. It’s not quite as durable as a B6 but I found it easier to drive on the high grip tracks. Just my 2 cents, thanks for this video!

    I'm thinking of getting into racing at my local clay oval track, and I'm thinking about using a Team Associated dirt variant as the platform for my Street Stock. Other classes are Slash/Raptor based MudBoss.

    I run a serpent srx2 and srx4, both gen3, in the UK. Wouldn't want to run any other car. Good durability, fairly priced parts, never struggle to get parts I need. And the team as a whole is taking some big wins. The srx4 took the win at the first round of carpet clash and TDale TQ'd at 1066 in his SRX2.
    Not cars to be overlooked

    • @jcchaconjr
      @jcchaconjr 10 месяцев назад

      From what I've heard, Serpent UK has done a pretty decent job of marketing the car over there, so I'm happy to see it has a decent following. Not very popular here in the US, but I'm a fan, considering that I've known about Serpent since the 90's when I started running nitro on-road...
      Just on feature set alone, they bring a lot to the table. More rear hub height adjustments than anyone else on the market, not to mention a crazy number of pill combinations. The fact that it and the SRX4 share quite a bit of parts in the rear make it pretty easy to consider getting both if you want to run both classes.
      Support here in the US is not very strong, unfortunately - Nitro on-road is probably their strongest market here. Still, I have and run both of their Touring cars (190mm EP and 200mm IC), and always get my parts directly from Serpent America within a day. It's pretty advantageous having their HQ so close by. 🙂

    Yokomo SO 2.0 owner here, wanted to add some stuff, like the B6 its box setup is not very good, it needs a aluminum bulkhead for durability but once you install it, the car is an absolute TANK, I’ve taken tons of nasty hits and driven off like it was nothing, not sure how the older YZ stacks up but the newest model is durable. Parts availability is not too great, I don’t live near a hobby shop so I order everything, which is not a problem since Yokomo ships fast.

    Another great affordable option is the PR racing buggies. Great kit with a lot of spare parts and hop hups straight out of the box. I Drive associated due the the confidence i have in their capability and durability. Best buggy regarding setup i have ever driven out of the Box is definitely the Cougar LD2. But i dont like anything about the buggy other than.. Its damn fast and capable. That being said.. its not going to swing me over to Shcumacher. The Xrays is just too plain for my liking as well as the yokomo and AE. I love the look of the TLR 5.0 but its just too out dated. If im ever buying a new buggy after my B6.4 it will be a new TLR or the new Mugen Seiki 2wd buggy which i am super hyped about! Definitely on top of my list at the moment.

    After experiencing Yokomo's quality on the RC Drift side of things its pretty impressive, but man Team Associated just has that place in my heart. I loved my B4, then my B5m, and sheesh was the B64 the funnest thing I ever drove on a track. Did you ever run the Tekno RC ET410? I grabbed one early when they released and that thing was fun too!

    • @RoachRC
      @RoachRC  10 месяцев назад +2

      I did. The tekno was a tank in every sense of the word. Unfortunately it was just too heavy for stock and indoor racing

      @SeanLewisMedia 10 месяцев назад +1

      Your 100% right, the only stock classes that were really popping when I was racing a few years ago were 2wd and 4wd buggy. Stock truck and Stock shortcourse never really took off back then, and now all the tracks are closed so that didnt help lol@@RoachRC

    One car you forgot is PR Racing S1V4. I ran their previous generation car, the S1V3R. Good base setup, good durability and very good value kit overall. However I´m not quite sure if their current 2wd is quite as fast as some of the competition.
    Currently I´m running a srx2 gen3. Part quality is good, kit setup didn´t work at all for me (I copied the one from the PR essentially). This car tought me setup. Overall I´ve been fairly happy with the car, but sometimes I wonder if I would be faster with a more common car. Part support at my local distributor (2-speed) is a bit hit&miss, but at least you can order directly from the manufacturer. The main reason I keep running this car is the rudebits forward bias gearbox, makes the car feel like it has no inertia at all.
    I´m currently considering trying a different platform, but it is shocking how few distributors can keep the usual weakspot parts in stock.
    Basically only Ruddog (AE), SMI (X-Ray) and Tonisport (Yokomo) seem to get this right.
    And it´s a shame I have to exclude two of them due to annoying fanboys in my club (AE & X-Ray).
    There are some hb/Absima team drivers fairly local to me and the D2 seems to be pretty fast, but the price is just too much. At maybe 100€ less I´d seriosly consider it

    I currently Own a b6.4, 22 5.0 elite, Schumacher LD2, and a srx2 gen 3. I like the b6.4 for Mod but I found it to be heavy for stock out of the box. The schumacher LD2 I think is the best out of the box for stock when you get the stock version. That being said my go to is the 22 elite 5.0 with the vision carbon chassis.
    On the serpent, its fast, its durable, easy access diff, but USA state side, if you break something, expect to pay a good chunk more in shipping, also the shock caps are garbage, none of my sockets fit the nut, I broke the plastic one in contact from another racer, I tried going aluminum but I have had difficulty finding the right size.
    Eventually the car was just too difficult to keep finding parts even though it is an amazing buggy, that fear of breaking and not being able to finish a race day made me fearful of crashing, so I never pushed it.

    I think you could take a WLtoys 104002 and work on it a little bit and beat most of the 500 dollar and up cars at your local track. It's all about driving skill. The expensive kit cars are for professionals that are in it for the money and have time and money to travel from track to track. And most are sponsored. It's easy to get taken in by these "if you buy this car you'll be a proffessional driver" RUclips videos and then get to the track to be slapped with the fact that these cars are very hard to drive. Buy a RTR sub 300 dollar car, go to your local track and have fun. Excellent video on the variety of buggies on the market.
