- 2020 is the 50th Anniversary year since the first Dodge Challenger rolled off of the assembly line in 1970. It was canceled in 1974 due to poor sales. Today, the Challenger is one of the most popular cars on RUclips. Let's take a look at the history of the Dodge Challenger that includes some of the ups and downs, misses, and most importantly, the HITS of the Dodge Challenger!

I am sooooooo impressed by this video. Well written, well produced. I've seen so many videos about Challengers. This one stands out in the crowd!
Thank you so much!
100% agree.
True indeed!
Hey dude, you missed a few things: The T/A was a package on the Highline, much like the A66 340 package (it would be an R/T option in '71), it carried a JH23 prefix, and 1411 T/As came in automatic. That fourth trim level was the Jx29 Special Edition! In '71, the Deputy was rumored to have its own vin trim level, the JL21, I've never seen one. The '72-'74 cars also got their taillights from the Diamante show car. Well done, my dude!
I agree
This Host is such a A+++ voice to knowledge. It's so rare that you find the next great one and it's such a treat.
Wishing him a bright future and many videos to come
Wow! Thank you so much for those kind words! I receive that!
Totally agree. The host personality, narration and overall production quality are top notch. This is my favorite Challenger History content on or off RUclips. Keep ‘em comin’!
Just bought an RT and this was an amazing watch. You have a great, friendly manner that makes listening to you nice and tons of knowledge.
Thank you so much! Enjoy that R/T!
This was a very impressive compilation of knowledge & brand loyalty that deserves a thumbs up!
Thank you so much!
@@TheGearheadLounge ...dislikes from Mopar haters... Smdh
I know! Right?!?
You put a lot of work into this, great video!
I've owned Mustangs for nearly 20 years...I'm very happy with my 21 Scat...Dodge is definately a force to be respected.
Me too! Own a 21’ Scat Pack 1320 and have also owned two Mustangs before finally finding the perfect Challenger I wanted…
The Dodge Challenger blows away the Mustangs in the seat comfort zone, it’s a rolling recliner with bolstering!
Found mine used with 1900 miles on it at a Dealership…The previous owner ordered all the extra stuff and it came with drag tires however someone swapped out them for a new set of Continental extreme contact all season performance tires.
Color is Mango 🥭
Thank you for this awesome documentary on the Dodge Challenger! I’ve had four challengers including the yellow jacket a hellcat redeye Hellcat and also a 2020 challenger 50th anniversary edition scat pack Shaker!
Thank you for all the time and effort it took to make such an outstanding video. I personally am a Mopar or no car man. My family only owned Chrysler vehicles so I was literally born into them.
I like the way you addressed the short comings when it was warranted and praised it when it was deserved.
It was truly a honest video about one of the most iconic cars made.
Thank you sir, job well done.
Thank you so much for your comments!
The hellcat demon and the redeye are sick cars just badass gotta love mopar
Hell yeah, even just the regular SRTs are sweet and love mine. That's if you want to call them regular, or is one of those instances where ya insert..for lack of a better word to think of at the time lol 🤣
Love it! I thought it was a 15 minute video, but halfway I discovered it was an hour and I couldn't stop! Great detailed info about all the model years
Thank you so much! You know, I was so reluctant making it so long; I thought no one would watch it...boy, was I wrong! Right now, it’s my number one!
This video made me appreciate my V6 and my Hellcat Challenger so much more as if I wasnt in love with the car already. I remember seeing the concept for this car in ‘06 when I was in the 6th grade. I said I’ll have that car and Challengers are the only cars I ever owned.
Great video. Loved it. Had many Challengers in my life. Now I have the 2015 white Hellcat and a 1970 RT with the U code in white.
Thanks for this video! I have always been a Challenger fan, and finally bought a new 2019 GT. Great car, decent performance (305 HP V6), 8 speed automatic, good handling, great ride, good looks, good gas mileage....the list goes on. Great car for the price, and it is a joy to get in and just drive.
I too Cruz a ‘19 GT -2wd; huge Goodyear F1’s (Alum. 20”x9” wheels) - 275/45-20” Rubber! 0-60 mph 6.5sec. Will run 90+ when pushed .... plus 25 mpg toooo 🥃🏁
Kewl Vid ~ So whatz Next!!
I just got my 2019 sxt and I can say I love my new car
This is one of the better Challenger documentries and a great video, Thank you
Thank you so much!
Fantastic video man! I just bought a '21 Scat Pack Widebody (my first new car in 26 years of driving), and it was great to learn a bit of its history. As a lifelong gearhead, I knew the Challenger's broad strokes, but you definitely filled in the details with the Ken Burns treatment here. I sure appreciate what must have been the ton of work that went into this.
Thank you so much! Believe it or not, I was hesitant to release this video, because I figured no one would want to watch an hour long video! 😆😂
Me-too dude
That is an excellent comprehensive rundown on the Challenger! Well done and thanks!
Thank you so much!
The work put into this video shows!!! Great job!!
Thank you!
Seems I'm a bit late to finding this video but well done! I loved how there were talking points on all the trim levels, not just the most notable ones. Also, as a Scat Pack 1320 owner, it was cool to see it included as well! It is honestly a mostly forgotten or unknown variation of the SPs.
Thank you so much!
I'
This is the first hour long video I've ever watched. You did an amazing job on this and it's greatly appreciated .
Thank you so much!
I had the 2014 base six cylinder its beautiful car and pull away from 130 mph
This video was very well crafted, narrated, and put together. I remember over the course of last year I was searching for my dream car (Dodge Challenger RT) during the last call and I would ultimately come back to this video over and over again just for fun as well as for comfort. I succeeded my mission last July (2023) and I must say this video really fueled my inspiration even more along the way. To this very day I still watch it and any content you put out I ultimately vow to support, even the NBA stuff which is also another one of my passions. Thank you for your continuous inspiration and knowledge. Looking forward to all of your work of the future. 👑
Thank you !
Congratulations on your purchase! Thank you for your story, I'm thankful that this video played a part in your inspiration! You made my day!
Wow! Amazing video, man! One thing I want to add is regarding the yellow turn signal / daytime running lamps and how you feel they look wrong. I really respect your opinion but want to add that most of us Challenger owners actually love them as we can see our fellow owners coming at us from far away, and also in the 2016 and up it’s still there along with the halo. You can turn them on or off depending on your personal preference. Again, really great video, man!
Thank you so much! Hey, I respect your opinion... especially since I've never owned one! I appreciate your comments! And thanks for watching!
Love the video, so informative and entertaining at the same time.. Being able to discuss each and every model was a huge work indeed, and the narration was superb I was instantly hooked, this video deserves more than a thumbs up but be one of my favorite videos of all time... Great video man... 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much!!
Excellent video. I been falling in love with these challengers and this video gave such great information.
I feel like I understand them so much more now.
I will probably watch this video a couple more times
Awesome! Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
Going through all your videos today. Love what you are doing. keep up the good work.
Thank you!
I've very much enjoyed this video and shared it with my friends and family. My first car was a 69 Camaro, and later in life I had gotten the 70 Challenger. It had the 340 and rear spoiler with four pipes on both sides. Sorry I ended up selling it, but I enjoyed it while I had it. 😎
Thank you for sharing! I know how you feel! I had a '69 Mach 1 that I had to sell...I still miss it!
Best muscle car video ever seen with authentic history!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this informative episode. The way you explained the history of this cars past and present brought tears to my eyes. It was very heartfelt and I love my Dodge Challenger. Thanks Bro!!
Wow! Thank you!
What a brilliantly narrated documentary. Its nice to listen to an intelligent, knowledgeable person explain the Challenger history. Well done!!
Wow...I’m humbled. Thank you so much!
Wonderfull documentation (I would say the *best* of all) - thanks a lot for it!
Heartly greetings from out of Germany, of a huge fan of *Dodge* and their *"Challie" Redeye* (and current also of their new *Charger Redeye* "family car"), including the *Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk* with the Hellcat engine (hoping they will implant also the Redeye engine, before the production of this SUV will end...)!
Addendum:
The next step by Dodge was made: The *RAM TRX...*
...I *love* these guys at Dodge!
Awesome walk down memory and history lane! Thank You Sir!
Thank you so much!

Just purchased a 2022 RT/TA 392 six speed manual. Awesome car!! Possibly the last year of the Hemi!
Congrats on your purchase! You better hold on to it because I believe that sadly, you may be right!!

Thank you!!
The original Mustang was based off the Ford Falcon platform.
Challenger has always been bigger than the Mustang and Camaro.
Challenger has always been that and looked way better thru out all the years then the Camaro or mustang
one of the best videos on youtube! very well made!
Thank you so much!
This was the GREATEST car video I’ve ever watched. It makes me want to upgrade my ‘14 V6 to a demon just because. Thank you 🙏🏾 so very much.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
Awesome video, I learned a lot.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This has to be hands down the best video and history about any car on RUclips. I am a huge Dodge fan. You mixed humor and history and now I am obsessed with buying a used Challenger like the one I used to own. Keep up the good work!!!
Wow! Thank you so much! Good luck finding your Challenger!
Great video, I love my 2017 RT. Fastest car in the world? Nope! Fastest car I’ve ever owned? Yup!! Love love love it
Thank you!
Great job on this video. I own a SRT Yellow Jacket, so it was nice to see it in there. I can tell you had a ball putting this together and you did your homework. A+
Thank you so much! ...and, yes, I enjoyed making it! I learned a lot!
This was fantastic. Superb job!!!!!
Thank you so much!
This was the best car video I have ever seen.
Not just saying that because I own a challenger…. This is the best video on the subject of challenger hands down.

This is a class video, well done sir! 🤘🏻🔥
That was a really well-made video! I definitely enjoyed that great job!
Awesome! Thank you so much!
WOW, awesome job putting this video together....very impressed !!
Thank you so much!
You are extremely thorough and precise. It's obvious that you've done a great deal of research. Great video! If you do this much research on the Camaro, including it's numbers at the Nurburgring tracks, you'll be surprised and impressed with it, as well! Camaros are very underrated! Just a suggestion.
Thank you so much! I'll keep that suggestion in mind! 😉
Two years and they’re gone, actually one for the hemi.
Great video dude… subscribed.
Thank you! Yeah...sadly they'll be gone soon...😔😔
This is a phenomenal video 👏🏼 thank you
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! ...and congratulations on the new purchase!
Love this iconic car. Great video !
Excellent Video, thank you.😊
Thank you so much!
Awesome video!!!!!!! Outstanding job, my friend. Just purchased a new 22 Challenger Scat Pack Wide-Body a few weeks ago. Waiting for the snow, ice and salt to be gone before I take it out. In other words, Mid-April.
That's awesome! Yeah, I think the Scat Pack is the best all-around, not-go-to-jail, daily driver! Must be torture waiting for Spring...thanks for watching my video! Enjoy that Scat Pack!
Awesome video on my favorite modern american muscle car! Thank you my brotha!
Thank you so much my brotha! I appreciate you!
I don't understand why some people trash Dodge the way they do. Thanks for the video.
Agreed! I don't understand the hate!
This is the thorough kind of content I look for on RUclips. Great app!

@@TheGearheadLounge you're welcome
Excellent presentation on my favorite subject matter! Bravo 👏🏾
Thank you so much!
I own a Challenger made in Canada. Your historic narrative is outstanding!
Thank you so much!
Good job fam. I saw 1 hr video length, and said this can't be the typical bs on here where the uploader disguises their lack of knowledge with music and flashy edits.
I was not disappointed. Keep it up.
Awesome comment! Thank you! I’ll do my best to not disappoint!
Great video! Hats off to you and your research.
Thank you so much!
Great video and great content!. Well done. I have a 21RT and I absolutely love it.
