Playing this DLC without ray tracing, it still looks SO amazing on a 1440p monitor. Hands down one of the most impressive in-game graphics I have ever seen.
Path tracing + ray reconstruction is truly something else. And it's first version of the ray reconstruction... I can't wait to see what they will do with further updates.
@@andrewweller5119 Aye! The only actual thing that annoys me about cars now is the engine sound through gears or to be more specific the transmission physics. Like every gear in the vehicle sounds the same from first to fifth they all drop down to exactly the same revolutions as if all the gears are exactly the same. I wish they updated vehicles for each to have unique gearing ratios and thus further make them sound unique. Like they did so much with the cars already from handling to steering to feeling and to miss on this... Also wish they added manual shifting for those who want to.
Another thing is that characters are more realistic especially faces with RR . Mostly we wouldn’t notice but in the digital foundry interview with art director he told that is the crazy part and when digital foundry checked it out in new update it was crazy upgrade to faces.
At first whey added path tracing that washed out most of the face details, but then with RR they returned clarity of faces back and represents it as some crazy new stuff. And Alex from DF said what that normal maps on Jacky's face "don't shows up AT ALL before" and forget to say that this issue is not present in native resolution or with regular ray tracing. It's just hilarious how brainwashed ngreedia fans are easy to manipulate.
@@roman3pm interesting. Because when i played with normal raytracing and dlss 2, not overdrive mode, it looked like similar and that clarity was missing.
@@roman3pm It's new technology, of course there are going to be flaws. It's still insanely impressive considering you can now get shadows on dynamic parts of the game world such as cars and NPCs. Some of the places in the base game look photo-realistic with path tracing.
Amazing comparisons, but I think the video would be better and more succinct if it doesn't include the sliding transitions and just skips straight to the section where images are shown with zero transition as Ray tracing settings get enabled.
Your comparison videos are the best on internet. I dont know it has something. Good music, precise comparison. I never like or comment on a video, but by you i did. And its not accidental i say these things. Other mentioned too. You channel will become big.
Hey that means a lot!! Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment, awesome to have that kind of feedback. Hope you continue to enjoy em 😎😎
Well of course, the game looks good in general. But rasterization can't hold a candle to path tracing when it comes to indirect lighting. This is essentially a preview of the future of realtime graphics, it can only really be played like that right now with a 4080 or 4090, but in a couple of generations it will be viable on lower end cards as well. Regardless of the insane cost of a 4090 it's still impressive that we are now able to play games with full path traced lighting in realtime, this was unthinkable even 5 years ago
Awesome video ELC, truly remarkable times to be gaming. I've said it before, you have a great formula and your channel will grow. Heres to you and gaming.
Game looks so good, I played the base game on a rx580 on all low settings with terrible fps lol. Gonna wait to play the dlc when I upgrade to a 4090 or maybe even 50 series gpu if they come out in the next 2 years
Can you please detail the ray trace settings between each comparison shot? RT ON = RT lighing medium? RT OD = RT all settings max? RT OD + RR = same as RT OD + Ray Reconstruction Why leave out path tracing? Or did you mean PT when it sais RT? In that case, what is the difference between RT ON AND RT OD?
Very good. But I fell the faces of the NPCs and all that ghosting around them abit strange. Hope they fix that. But overall the game is beautifull with OD+RR. Try plz make a video comparing with BLOOM On vs Off (file needed with a command on one location in game folder). Thank you man. Cheers!
Pathtracing + RR looks fucking insane. Makes even normal RT look like a freaking joke. Raster graphics is just unbearable after playing with PT enabled.
Thats not the point. Traditional graphics rendering has reached it's limit, it's just band aid after band aid applied to make rasterization rendering seem real, meanwhile Ray- and Pathtracing is simulating how lighting and shadows work in the real world. It's easier and faster, and more logical to use for graphic and 3d designers as well as developers. Rasterization is a dying breed. Pathtracing for example is the staple in Hollywood in VFX, it was only a matter of time until it bled over to videogames. Gaming graphics are unable to evolve in a meaningful way with rasterization from here on out , a simple fact.
@@OTNaugrim I think what's more important than lighting is render distance. That's where graphics could still improve. We still have pop-in a lot in modern games if you pay enough attention. It's more distracting than the accuracy of shadows
Yoo RR stands for ray reconstruction, a path tracing technology they introduced with patch 2.0! Here’s a link to learn more if ya want: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/nvidia-dlss-3-5-ray-reconstruction/
the non rt lighting looks completely different. It's like they intentionally did it . Same atmosphere can be produced with baked lighting too without rt stuff
It just doesn't look realistic enough. It's hard to simulate something by taking into account everything and it's impossible to simulate dynamic lighting by baking it in.
the problem with ray reconstruction is that some details in the dark are not supposed to be seen. dlss 3.0 looks better most of the times than dlss 3.5
RT overdrive is still in beta. It has no fucking clue how to light transparent particles such as smoke so instead they appear 'unlit' and it looks quite ugly ik scenes with smoke. I hope they fix it soon
I think Ray recon on works well at 4k on Quality. I generally run 3440x1440 on DLSS Quality, and with Ray Recon on, I get a ton of artifacting and ghosting to where it's not even worth it.
"This is unfortunately only availble with overdrive, or path tracing enabled, even though I thought it was available to all RTX cards" What do you mean by this? It is.
Ray reconstruction is only available with Path tracing enabled. Or you can use specific mod to enable it for any RT albeit for a performance drop (it's the opposite for Path tracing - you get more frames)
Lighting - No vs RT is barely noticebale (RT is a bit milder). PT is noticeable, but it's just different. So, meh in general. Reflections - No vs RT or PT is noticeable, yeah. The only thing, that you could care about, imo. Shadows - not much in all three cases, RT/PT it's just a bit more dynamic. In other words, the only thing, that worth with it, is Reflections. Still not worth perfomance hit or 800$+ gpu (at msrp without taxes).
It just looks different with RT or RT+RR. It doesn't really look better, it just looks different with the only significant difference being reflections in water, rasterization reflections are simple and blurry, with any RT its better. The lightning on the other hand often times looks better with no RT.
You have the best Cyberpunk comparison videos on the internet!

Without OD and RR the game looks so flat. It's incredible how much more detail you can get from an object when it's lit properly.
