      To be fair, this is a industry problem rather than a Philadelphia one. They are closing terminals Nationwide. You have similar issues in many other cities. The bus companies have going to the practice of having only a ticket office and bus stop. So if you look at RUclips about Greyhound and other cities. You'll find somewhere complaints and odd stop locations.

    This is why it's stupid to put a sports arena in center city. Greyhound on the other hand picked a lousy location. I can't imagine the chaos that new arena is going to cause once it's up. Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

      Yes and no. The company does not wish to have terminals anymore. So it's not like they're going to build a new one. Also you're limited traffic-wise two large streets for the buses to operate on. It would have been nice for them to have taking the parking lot operation at 8th and Market instead. At least you'd have folks in a confined space. And the buses would be in the same space. And you would be closer to facilities across the street at the Fashion District.

    The congestion this terminal is causing, along with the extreme congestion the new arena will cause, is going to make Philadelphians really miserable. I can't believe that two public transit traffic jams were created with one bad decision. What are they going to do to accommodate thousands of extra SEPTA riders back and forth when there is a game? There are now hundreds of people already spilling into the streets because of Greyhound, before arena traffic ever even begins! UGH!

      The short answer to your question is, they are following the same Trend as the other bus companies in the industry. They're getting rid of large Terminals and going to a bus stop only and ticket office model. The same situation is occurring Nationwide in other cities. Also the lease on the property of the old location was up. That property is already been sold to the 76ers.

      It's a combination of two separate things. Problem 1? The lease agreement on the property ended. And the property has been acquired by the 76ers basketball team to build a new Downtown Arena. Problem number two? Greyhound is getting rid of terminals Nationwide. Not just in Philadelphia. They're following an industry practice of only having bus stops and ticketoffices. You have similar situations and complaints in cities Nationwide.

    Commercial real estate should be at all time lows and low occupancy so there is no reason for this. Unless greyhound business is losing more money

      The problem is, they don't wish to build a new terminal. None of their computing bus companies do so. They're all going to a bus stop model and a ticket only office. You have the exact same situation and many cities across the u.s. and the same complaints.

      @@michaellundy4065 I agree, I think it’s a horrible idea, that stadium needs to stay at the sports complex down south Philly. It comes down to money, they need desperately to generate money in center city. The Fashion District was a bust and post pandemic it’s not as busy as it used to be.

      The 76ers basketball team has acquired the property with plans to build a new Downtown Arena. Also Nationwide, Greyhound is getting rid of terminals altogether. Other cities have seen the same kind of issues. Services are now bus stops only.

    This is also close to the tourist area in the city. I can I imagine rush hour. The city also wants that area at 11th and Filbert Sts.

    The city approved this? Greyhound is a joke. So is the city. It was good years ago. During the pandemic, they changed the routes and never changed them back. So for me to go to Mt Pocono from Philly, it is about 4 1/2 hours. Other scheduled times, 5 1/2 , 6 hours, longer. Greyhound added on stops. Sometimes, there is a layover. Going to Mt Pocono? We need another bus service and city administration. Who approves these things? It probably looks like an eyesore, too. Hard on the passengers and drivers. What if it's bad weather? The city doesn't care.

    I’m almost at a point of thinking we’re better off with no bus service at all them to tolerate this. Americans are better than this and deserve better I hope flix/greyhound fails and somebody could start from the beginning. in Tampa, they drop you off underneath an overpass underneath the interstate across from the city bus depot. Greyhound passengers are not allowed anywhere near the city buses. how would somebody like to have the grandmother dropped off there at 2 o’clock in the morning along with crazy homeless people and criminals.

      Why would you want to oppress the people of Chinatown anymore? They put up with enough development in the last 50 years. To no benefit. And it's only because of the lack of political power that they get dumped on. They are Boxed In by an expressway nobody else wanted. A Convention Center which is generally empty. The Gallery mall now call Fashion District. And a federal prison just a few blocks away. So backoff the people of Chinatown.

    Well I travel and work for greyhound few years and it’s the same in a lot of locations. small terminals and you have to wait outside sometimes no bathroom either. Well people in Philly was spoiled But happens all over the country .Greyhound also sold the company years ago. And the new owners make a lot of changes it. Better take Amtrak .greyhound it’s not worthy anyway

    Ask yourself this who's idea was this all they had to do is copy off baltimore also they can figure out how to give the rider all these layovers so they can keep the busses full so they can save on fuel & they figured out how to make a extra row of seats so u don't have enough leg room but whoever probably someone from another state couldn't figure out ppl need restrooms and air conditioning they got all that covid money where did it go !

      @@virtualwhispers unfortunately, the bus companies find it just cheaper to go to a bus stop service and ticket office. They'd rather not have the additional employees and real estate of a terminal. I do agree it's not the most best situation for travelers. Exacerbating the situation is that the property of the old terminal is being sold.
