      If you do a quick RUclips search about Greyhound, you'll find similar situations going on in other cities. They seem to be divesting of large fixed terminal locations. Plus you need a location that can take high-volume bus traffic. It would have been nice if they'd had taken the parking lot at 8th and Market.

    That's happening all around the country with the bus services throughout. However with the lingering option of a stadium going in that area you can see why they closed it but tonight have a proper facility speaks volumes in the fact that Philadelphia is not a first-rate city. You go to your buses are very prominent to use to travel and I would say that buses are still used in the US a lot so I'm not certain why a lot of the bus stations throughout the country are doing the link are in odd parts of the city are not sticking to the scheduled service times overall it just horrible in service but it's a cheap waited for a lot of people to travel

    I dont think it’s the mayor problem. It’s Greyhound. I work fir them at that station for 10 years. They sold the company to other people and they start cutting employees and budget. Now I can see why. They are coping the Chinese buses. That’s how they work you bought the tickets inside and wait outside for the buses. And you can’t be inside waiting. So I can see greyhound are doing the same thing to save money and pay only a few employees. I was supervised and have i least 30 employees each shift. And filbert was a huge terminal and confortable. Unfortunately it’s no more about the customers it’s about them.

    Has nothing to do with the 76ers. I'm a former employee of 14.5 years. Greyhound was bought by Flixbus, a German based company, who runs buses without hard real estate. They believe in curbside only. I quit for a reason.

    • @LeeDfined
      @LeeDfined Год назад +1

      @WALTERBROADDUS they are still here. Just owned by a foreign based company with a different operating model. They will still run the buses(I guess.) But it won't be the way Americans have known it to be. So that's up to yall if that's the service you want. Personally, it works if you are going 5 hours down the road. And that's how they run buses in Europe, where Flix is from. But Greyhound carries cross country passengers, who have been riding for days. So you're hungry, tired and may have to wait for a ride to pick you up. You may want to use a clean bathroom. That particular Greyhound...which offered that...seems to be gone, except a few select places, which will still have a terminal. But overall...what you see is what you get. I seen the writing on the wall as an employee and went about my business. Good luck. That's was my lifelong dream to drive for Greyhound and I did it. So...not my business anymore.

They also seem to be following a pattern of getting rid of large pieces of Real Estate. They'd rather go follow the competition and not having a large fixed terminal facility. Also when I work at that station we have too many homeless sleeping at the terminal and bathrooms. I worked all the shift because was open 24 hours . So I am guessing the city get worse and worse and they don’t want to deal with that. Also the rent it’s probably much higher. And other bus companies running they business like that. In the street pick up. I work there so I know the drama and how cheap the owners are. I suggested take Amtrak. Big station and safer. Greyhound fare price are high now too. And you are not safe. Who are going to wait for 4 am scheduled. Lol I took that scheduled before but was long time ago. When things was better and less scary

    I hate this nonsense of, "Oh it's dangerous for women." Like really? I didn't realize us guys were bulletproof. Also, is it really dangerous for women these days? Have you seen the size of women these days? The idea that somehow some guy is going to single-handedly pick up one woman and carry her off is absurd. If said criminal wants to blow out his back and have spinal reconstructive surgery for the next three months, then yeah perhaps. We have women in this nation that occupy a greater volume than The Little Boy that was dropped on Japan.

The only reason the bus is in this conversation at all is because the US just doesn't have modern rail infrastructure and enough departure times to be a viable optiuon in much of the country. The government subsidises development of only air & roads for passenger travel. They assume everyone flies then rents a car to get around.
