Pro Combat and Elite socks were peak sportswear. I used to get so excoted to see which teams would jave pro combat uniforms in the new NCAA games. Good times man
I remember va tech had those weird ones from the 2010 season opener and it was in the ncaa 12 not 11. Kinda wish they used them more but i remember herbstreit said the tech ones looked ugly live during the game lol.
Oregon just took this idea and went to the moon with it. They were so fun to watch around this time with Chip's high-powered offense and their branding was elite. I still have my "No Huddle No Mercy" shirt and while it's definitely seen better days, it's still so badass. It was really exciting to see what they would bring each week, both uniform and performance-wise.
I miss this era because alternate uniforms felt like special events instead of the norm. I really want to go back to one home uniform, one away uniform and an alternate one game per year. That way teams have strong, identifiable main looks and the alternates stick out way more
I'm a fan of both Tennessee and Michigan State and I think both have done well at having plenty of variety in their uniforms without straying away from the traditional. Tennessee has always mixed and matched their orange and white combos, but now they have the smokey gray and the dark mode. Both of which honor school tradition and are also favorites of the fans, players, and recruits. They brought out an orange helmet last year too, and also wore some baby blue to honor Pat Summit and Lady Vols. All of their alternates, even as simple as orange jersey with orange pants (something they've done for years) still feel special every time. They've basically just incorporated the color schemes that fans have been wearing for years. And MSU has plenty of options too with the all white, all black, the chrome helmet, and the neon green accent (a color they've brought into their color scheme over the years). Variety is very important and as long as my teams don't end up like Oregon then I'm all for it
Crazy nostalgia for sportsman. I remember being obsessed w/ the Pro Combat concept and thought it'd be the future of sports gear. I'm glad we've reverted back to simplicity, nonetheless.
Very alien to me as an Alabama fan as well. I was a little disappointed back then that our pro-combat uniforms were barely changed, as schools like Oregon were getting new uniforms every week, but the more I think about it, I’m not sure I would’ve gone any further than houndstooth numbers and an American flag on the shoulders. It’s simple, it’s clean. Maybe the only thing I’d have done is turn the Opacity up a little so the pattern shows up more, because it never showed up in the games
I actually used my Nike pro combat thigh pads all through high school and college. They were so tough, light, and breathable…they were awesome!!! Additionally, they were so durable and protected me so well, I took out the actual thigh pads and knee pads in my pants.
2012 Ohio State "pro combat" jerseys with the polished helmets and chrome green buckeye leafs. Man those were awesome and it was the 12-0 start for Meyer with the last second INT in the big house. I remember that as i was with family for Thanksgiving weekend in Ohio and half our family from my step granddad was TTUN fans and to hear how quiet they were was awesome
4:24 “corps” is pronounced “core” not “corpse”. Also, the majority of D1 colleges have a “military program” in Reserve Officer Training Corps. VTech is part of an unique group called senior military colleges that are distinct from the service academies, but there are 6 of them not 2: Norwich, The Citadel, Texas A&M, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Tech, and North Georgia.
Nike did some Pro jerseys back in 2005. There was four schools selected. I remember them being Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, and I don’t remember the fourth school. They were the ones where the left shoulder would be all orange. They were definitely some good looking jerseys.
Great video! I looked high and low until I finally found a Texas flywire. Was barely different than the normal jerseys and I was the only person who cared at that age but I wanted it so bad! Still have it and was sad they only were involved for 1 year.
Funny how Bama went with a houndstooth design for Bear Bryant. Common misconception that Bear Bryant wore a houndstooth hat when he coached. It was a black and white plaid hat. He only occasionally wore a houndstooth hat until very late as an Athletic Director
Other big uniform things that I remember are the Nike Flywire collars and when Adidas put tiretracks on their school's football and basketball jerseys. Specifically Louisville.
I remember when I was playing high-school football nike did this promotion for high school rivalries and the winners got pro combat unis for the rivalry game and t. We didn't win the contest but having them visit and getting to see and try on the pro combat unis was bad ass
This when those nike vapor carbon flys were out. Arguably the best looking cleat of all time. Nike really gave away the lead in recent years for sports wear
I loved these jerseys, and had really hoped some NFL teams would take a chance and really switch things up, I guess the black jerseys are about as close as we got to that.
The 2009 and especially the 2010 Florida pro combat uniforms were my favorite thing as a kid. Definitely wore the pro combat hip and leg pads in high school, and the doubled up pairs of elite socks in games lmao
As an Oklahoma Sooner fan I was jealous of the Miami Hurricanes unis,...maaaan they were clean,...I loved OU bc they went back to the Bus Wilkinson days with the designs
I have been waiting for this video for a decade… I remember being at UF for all of these and really wanting them to take off. I loved the thought of uniforms styles changing forever but sadly the classic or more conservative styles still feel more prevalent
The Michigan State Pro Combats might be my all time favorite jersey. I've been dying for a come back but they wouldn't be throwbacks so I don't think it would ever happen.
I think Ohio State’s 2012 uniforms that they wore against Michigan, and then a few more times in 2013 and 2014 were sorta a pro combat uniform. They were even marketed as pro combat uniforms.
@@BuckeyeBeard91 idk they just didnt feel like ohio st jerseys. our all red, blackout, chrome looks were far better. i don't hate the white ones but the retro red ones are awful to me
Oh ok I gotcha. Idk, but I think for me, I was in high school when they were released. I remember being a little jealous teams like Oregon were getting new uniforms every game damn near and OSU didn't. I didn't care about the classic traditional look that the Bucks had that I do now. But these jerseys caught my eye real quick and I loved them. I don't wish for them for to come back at all, but they it was a cool little period of uniforms in my opinion.
I had the Terrell Pryor Ohio State white still kind of regret not getting the Tim Tebow Florida I remember Alabama finally agreed to do it a couple years into it. They change the one stripe on the pants that was it.
I was in high school during this time I graduated in 2011. I loved it we had nike unis for the first time at my school and pro combat spandex with built in padding. Thanks for the nostalgia fest ❤
Pro Combat and Elite socks were peak sportswear. I used to get so excoted to see which teams would jave pro combat uniforms in the new NCAA games. Good times man
$25 for the elites was a deal breaker for me 😂 I had a couple pairs tho
Yep not a fan of this current round of wvu jerseys… pretty bland and crappy
I remember va tech had those weird ones from the 2010 season opener and it was in the ncaa 12 not 11.
Kinda wish they used them more but i remember herbstreit said the tech ones looked ugly live during the game lol.
@@JGL98lol they were expensive but they’re the only sock I have from that time that still are in one piece

GO DUCKS
Oregon still has best unis in any sport
Some of their uniforms are nice but they do waaayyy too much with a lot of them
@@johnnythropscaut7920 it’s Oregon bro too much Nike money and too much good weed like either are bad things lol
Those chrome helmets were so badass
The late 2000s and early 2010s was peak college football. The uniform explosion was just starting and at the same time the game was evolving so much.
I miss this era because alternate uniforms felt like special events instead of the norm.
I really want to go back to one home uniform, one away uniform and an alternate one game per year.

Agree
Agree, and for your blue bloods, that is exactly what they do-- OU, Ohio St, ND, 1 dark
1 light
1 alt, and alt is generally only played once a year

Oregon has left the chat 😂
Oregon would never and I love them more for it
Nike Pro Combat was super dope and had some awesome uniforms in college football!
Cole Adams with another CFB history BANGER!!!🔥 Keep em coming, you on a roll!!!
Crazy nostalgia for sportsman. I remember being obsessed w/ the Pro Combat concept and thought it'd be the future of sports gear. I'm glad we've reverted back to simplicity, nonetheless.
Whenever I think of the Pro Combat uniforms, I think of the WVU coal miner set. Such a great uniform.
I remember these from NCAA Football 13
Idk why but I feel like the fly wire on white Oregon jerseys would be dope
We had the wings on the shoulders. Oregon had the fly knit in the collar instead.
Cole has been killing it with the videos lately
No kidding this was a great idea for a video
I loved these so much as a kid, being an LSU fan and seeing how it ushered in the era of one off jerseys, which until then was very alien to LSU
The 2011 LSU pro combats they wore against Auburn are still some of my all time favorite uniforms

These feel like city edition jerseys
Not even close
@@_________. Yeah, they kinda did
WVU jerseys were so gas
Those Georgia and Michigan State uniforms were COLD!
Best era ever. Loved how unique these uniforms were. Still have a Boise state kellen Moore jersey from this time.
What I remember most were the advertisements, like the one with Adrian Peterson
I’m too young for this era but I do remember all these uniforms in ncaa 12 and I remember Nike branding every shirt as pro combat
Loved those WVU uniforms. Wish they had a all black version. I always used that helmet on NCAA and mixed it up with the blue and gold.
The gray Arkansas jerseys are some of my favorite ever made. Wish they’d bring those back. Love the pro combat look
Those matte mizzou helmets will literally never get old. Want them back too this day

I remember these in the NCAA Football games. Good times.
Those specialized school commercials are still the coolest ads I’ve ever seen

Great video, distinctly remember this era growing up
I remember being so hyped when Pitt got a design. Stll one of my favourite uni's to this day.
Funny how Bama went with a houndstooth design for Bear Bryant. Common misconception that Bear Bryant wore a houndstooth hat when he coached. It was a black and white plaid hat. He only occasionally wore a houndstooth hat until very late as an Athletic Director
most bama fans dont know the difference
I swear i thought this was the coolest shit ever in CFB
No cap lol Like Elite socks for basketball
Other big uniform things that I remember are the Nike Flywire collars and when Adidas put tiretracks on their school's football and basketball jerseys. Specifically Louisville.
The fsu jersey are fire
Great video, thank you. Remember watching that Boise Virginia tech game as a kid
I'm all about innovation. I hope to see Nike keep pushing the envelope

Bra best looking cleat by far you spot on with this one loved those cleats had 2 pair in high school miss those days😢
I love the Oregon state uni's. Yes I am biased.
This was peak CFB I remember back in HS watching all the different schools videos for their new uni’s
Good Ole Days, the Nike pro combat uniforms was 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nike may not have capitalized liked they should but they have changed the nfl uniform game pretty dramatically from the rebok days.

Would of been interesting to see what Tennessees Smokey Grays would of looked like with a pro combat collab
As an Oklahoma Sooner fan I was jealous of the Miami Hurricanes unis,...maaaan they were clean,...I loved OU bc they went back to the Bus Wilkinson days with the designs
Didn’t know I needed this video
i actually had the compression shorts/girdle with the gray harder plate on top they were actually very comfortable and the hardest thigh pads I had
i still might have my pro combat in my football bag

That Pro Combat Vikings Uni was 🔥 🔥 🔥
Tracked down the 2011 Pro Combat Mathieu LSU jersey and gloves, I can't eat the rest of the month but I'm glad i found them
This era was so sick man , the amount of money I spent on this stuff in high school lol
The fly wire was really cool
The Michigan State Pro Combats might be my all time favorite jersey. I've been dying for a come back but they wouldn't be throwbacks so I don't think it would ever happen.
I've been playing NCAA football 14 for a couple of years, and I might start playing with these uniforms.
Nike/NFL need to bring back color rush. That shit was fire
Those second VT ones were insane!
You remember kids wearing this in GRADE school? This came out right at the end of my time in highschool lol
The fly wire on the shoulder pads is soooo corny, but at the time it looked so fresh
I remember them red uga uniforms. Need that Isaiah Crowell jersey
At the same time, I miss the last bit of the simplistic jerseys we had in the mid 2000s
Mannn this takes me back
I think Ohio State’s 2012 uniforms that they wore against Michigan, and then a few more times in 2013 and 2014 were sorta a pro combat uniform. They were even marketed as pro combat uniforms.
damn i wish you went through the 2011 uniforms one by one too but great video overall regardless
I own all three of the Ohio State combat jerseys. Loved the thought of history they put into each one!

nike did do the super tight tops and big baggy bottoms in college bball in like 07-08
VTs black combat uniform was 🔥
I loved these
Wore the socks my whole college career. White with blue back. Blue with black back
Did Bama ever wear those jerseys in a game? Might be one of a few alternate uniforms in their history
I remember uga wearing theirs against boise and losing that game. They never touched them again
I had the Terrell Pryor Ohio State white still kind of regret not getting the Tim Tebow Florida
I remember Alabama finally agreed to do it a couple years into it. They change the one stripe on the pants that was it.
Why is the Oregon State jersey so damn big
TCU always had the best pro combat unis
Awwwwww the dog is so cute

Grade school? 💀 I remember everyone getting those compression shorts my freshman year of high school
I have a game worn Pro Combat Danny Coale VT Jersey
I loved downloading the in the NCAA football games with the uniform packs 😂😂😂
Michigan State with the absolute best Pro Combat uniforms.
I had 4 pairs of pro combat tights, the 2 I still have are the most comfortable things ever
I didnt even know they stopped making it. Sounds like a dumb typical Nike marketing decision.
1:43 probably because they were already under contract with them? 🤷♂️
Bro I cannot wait until the new CFB video game. I know it is EA and even if it sucks, I just want to play and recruit.
Both VT uniforms are so hard
As a fsu fan i never wanna see them jerseys again
Corpse of cadets? Come on bro… it’s pronounced “CORE” of cadets. Just like Marine “CORE”.
“Corpse of cadets” 🤦♂️
I wish WVU would wear these every year
Raw 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
The FSU uniform was the best ever!!!
Those uniforms UGA wore against Bosie were terrifying so was the game…
GG 😃 but y'all have won 2 straight nattys so I doubt u care lol
I know I’m in the minority but I loved those jerseys and the silver striped helmets.
What a time to be alive
I’m high as shit rn, that was awesome i thoroughly enjoyed that
Did a uniform segment and didnt do much to mention the Oregon Ducks. Which had the best unis year in and out with tons of alternate ones.
Shame.
Some of them are good but as a Georgia fan, our uniform was atrocious.
I didn't like ohio states 09 combat uniforms but the 2010 and 2011 uniforms them was 🔥🔥
“Corpse of cadets” 😂
