    Fun fact about the oval: it was left unpaved for decades as the university let students make desired pathways in the grass. Eventually OSU just paved roads over those student made pathways and that’s why it’s so intricate (including all the way up to 18th Ave)

    • @MegaBrokenstar
      @MegaBrokenstar Год назад

      This is also why a lot of students are furious with recent administrations’ attempts to enforce photogenicity of the grass by putting up random chains and ropes to block ways people like to cut through. OSU’s walkways were literally decided by how people wore paths in the grass until these clowns started resisting it.

    • @hossahunter22
      @hossahunter22 Год назад +5

      same thing is happening at PSU (albeit not in the oval shape), where every time I go back there seems to be a new paved path on a place you used to see ultimate frisbee or touch football games.

    • @karlangerman1557
      @karlangerman1557 Год назад

The first year the team was fast and got in the top 10 for the 12 man teams at about 8--10 We were mostly from Pierre (Pier) South Dakota. Then the next few years we were slower due to the fast guys being injured as one of them tried to stupidly keep up very hard training. That first year we did the race, person on an old steel 10 speed road racing Campagnolo or Japanese Sun bike in Tour De France Yellow, they nearly took me out on the bridge just lightly brushing my skin with the bikes metal pedal that the guy had old style clips for, he looked like he used the bike for super touring having front and back racks on the bike.

    Love this commercial as a Michigan fan and a geography nerd. Transitions are super smooth. I’m excited to see how they revamp it with the expansion teams. Will be interesting to see which direction they approach it. Maybe start in Seattle and work down to LA, then make that same transition over the mountains into Nebraska? Also, they need to add some things like the Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, and maybe another reference or two for MSU (as much as I hate them, they’re still a big part of this conference). Maybe something with the Breslin Center? They seemed to have been gipped. Could also add in some pieces of other nearby cities like they did for Detroit, Philly, DC, and NYC. Chicago and Minneapolis make more sense because NW/UM are there already, but lots of other great cities could use a reference here. Very surprised, for instance, that Lucas Oil isn’t on here at all, nothing for Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Des Moines, Omaha. Expand this sucker to a minute flat and give proper reference to actual B1G country, not just the east coast cities the B1G brass wants to be a part of.

The statue shown is located outside of biomedical engineering building on Busch campus. It is a depiction of someone running and it is made up of pipes of varying size to give the illusion of motion when viewed. I have a couple predictions for when they update the commercial for the Pac 12 teams, I think for USC and UCLA they add the Hollywood sign and the coliseum and Washington they add the Seattle Space Needle, I need to do more research on Oregon and really all the campuses themselves. I don’t know much about the West Coast campuses.

    15 Purdue alumni have been astronauts-more than even MIT. The only colleges with more alumni astronauts are the military academies: West Point, the Air Force Academy, and the Naval Academy. Fun Fact: Neil Armstrong carried a Purdue flag with him when he landed on the moon. I'm not a Purdue alum, tooting my own horn here. I'm actually an IU alum-an in-state rival. My heart will always be with IU, but I really respect Purdue and other schools in the conference. The Big 10 is an embarrassment of Riches.
