Well if this guy is getting charged, the police officers who stood outside Uvalde and held everyone outside neee to be charged !!! They did way worse than this guy.
They are all cowards. They should all be locked up. They take up valuable money and benefits for truly, brave law enforcers who don't stand and guard buildings, but take action.
I don't think comparing the situation in Parkland with Uvalde does make any sense. In Uvalde the officers knew exactly where the shots were coming from.
@@karelklumpers exactly. So theyre way worse. So why tf should he be charged and not them ?

I hope there is something done about the lack of response in Uvalde Those cops milling around the hallways and using hand sanitizer as they listened to gunshots and screaming children makes me sick to my stomach.
true but there were almost 400 "officers" at that tragedy
Absolutely, the main people coordinating all the police standing in the hallways should be held accountable accordingly. Horric tragedy with the police literally just there to save them.
YES!!!!! Instead of going after this guy why is NOTHING being done about those ACTUAL COWARDS?? This guy had no idea where the shooter was, those men DID!!! They knew EXACTLY WHERE HE WAS and did NOTHING!!!! Instead of a political with hunt in this corrupt county, go after those monsters in Uvalde! Fvcking obnoxious and corrupt AF. Sickening.
thats what i dont understand... they are charging a police officer over 4 and a half minutes during which there were multiple other officers that all never entered the correct building. When it is a multi building multi level campus, i feel like 4 and a half minutes is well within an acceptable range for searching for the shooter.
So, according to you and your infinite wisdom, they should have busted into the classroom and started shooting like WANNABE RAMBOs? What if innocent children got caught in the CROSSFIRE?
This is such a bs trial. We charge a guy for some bogus crime to blame him for this tragedy and we let a guy who planned and executed the crime live? What a joke. Weak justice system.

I could absolutely understand how gun shots are echoing and must have been very difficult to comprehend where they were coming from. This officer should never have been charged for anything here. The parkland shooter gets life in prison when he should have gotten the death penalty to begin with. This Officer dedicates his entire life and may have to forfeit his career over something OUT of his control. It is very sad these children lost their lives and I can Imagine how excruciating this must be for the families but at this point the parents are looking for a scape goat Mr. Peterson and quite possibly his PD. Very sad situation for all.
This officer is clearly being made the scapegoat of this entire situation. He did nothing wrong or negligent. There is anger still prevalent in the community and the families, however it misdirected. All anger should be directed to the perpetrator, Nic Cruz.

This is actually really sad. I work in child psychiatry and one of the reasons people avoid this general field is due to fear of unreasonable litigation. I wonder what this experience will do to others considering his career path in our society. Good to know that we will continue to be unable to staff important roles within society due to scapegoating.

GREAT, we dont need cowards going into this field. Any man in that situation should put their life on the line to try to save even one child, but a police officer? wtf are we even paying them for?
You conveniently forgot to mention that Peterson also faces a perjury charge for allegedly lying to investigators. Instead of entering the building, he backed away as gunfire sounded. Police run towards danger all the time; this man hid behind a post. Peterson didn’t leave his spot for 48 minutes. That was 45 minutes after the shooting ended and 40 minutes after off-campus officers stormed inside, finding carnage on the first and third floors. Cruz had fled.
Looks this guy is taking the fall for someone 😢
Hi Erica Sherry, how is everything over there and your family I hope they are doing well?
I'm conflicted on this... Sitting from the safety of my armchair, it would be very easy to claim I'd be a hero and run inside a building into a haze of bullets from a high powered long rifle. However, the truth of the matter is, that I have absolutely no idea how brave I would have been and whether I'd have had the sheer level of courage required to enter a building and stop a deranged mass shooter with a high powered rifle against my simple 5 chamber Smith and Wesson revolver that I've likely never even practiced using at the local gun range much less in a deadly active shooter scenario. So are we charging people for cowardice? That is the question I guess, as no amount of training can predict exactly how a human being is going to react in the actual moment. Very shaky legal grounds for sure.
Hello Monicaram..., How is everything over there and your family I hope they are doing well?

What people want is a fantasy that he knew exactly where to go and ran there and killed the shooter. I’m sure he wished he could have done that too. All he could do was his best with what was happening in the moment!
Don’t you think this guy is being haunted by this event every night he sleeps. I do feel bad for this guy being charged.

Steve Carrell talks a good game, let's see if he's this good at the trial
They should charge the prosecutors with a crime for charging this man.
Leave this man alone! He shouldn't even be on trial
I find this sad this man must have been afraid is he very different from any other human. Those poor children the blame belongs to the school shooter .
He had one job to do.
The policeman charged here is the same one who tried unsuccessfully to get the school system and the sheriff's department to do something about the shooter BEFORE something like Parkland happened. They ignored his pleas. Then one month before retirement he is supposed to die trying?
Having listened to this, I'm impressed by this lawyer. The facts presented by him and the trial paint a very different picture to the knee jerk reaction after the shooting.
The fact that footage shows kids on the 3rd floor of the building could not even hear shots on the 1st and 2nd floor is very telling that it was near impossible to tell where the shots came from and that entering the buildings would have done no good.
The radio transmissions also show he didnt know where the shots were coming from. He was clearly giving his location, not the location of the shooting - as cops are typically trained to do. They report theyve heard shots, and then report their location so responding officers know where the first cop is and that its the vicinity of the incident.
The amount of witnesses with wildly different testimony as to where they believed the shots were coming from also proves how difficult it was to place the shooters location.
Very glad the jury came to the correct verdict on this, and its clear they deliberated thoroughly on it. The Sheriff tried to use Peterson as a scapegoat to save himself, and it shows.
I feel very sorry for Peterson, but I'm very glad he was found not guilty.

I am a former student of MSD. Graduated in 2006 long before this shooting. And with that being said, it is a maze. It is by far the largest school in our whole city and it has a very unique layout. I went there everyday and I still was confused sometimes what building is where, which room is in what what building, etc. and right next door is a middle school too then to make matter worse, there is a highway overpass. Directly next to the school. On top of how big and open the school is, they also built more since I graduated. The building the students were killed in is a newer building. His only guilt would be having to live with this, all this other stuff was unnecessary.
