    How is the state convicting Ethan and saying he doesn’t have any mental health issues but then these exact same prosecutors that are charging Ethan’s parents saying it was clear he had mental health issues and they should have been able to foresee something happening. The prosecutors said the parents ignored his repeated calls for mental health help but yet here they have someone on the stand to say he acted in a clear mind and had no mental health issues. Having raised 5 children, 3 adopted special needs boys, and now raising 2 15-year-old grandsons, I find an overarching denial of Ethan's brain development, grief, and poor parenting. He was denied help months ago and on the day of the shooting. He did not steal the gun ; guns were a welcome part of family life in his home, It was the one thing his parents gave him positive attention. His teachers were blind, and the counselors were even less helpful. We are a country full of school shootings. It is far from a new and different event. There were so many signs and other cases to learn from, but they did not take Ethan's distress seriously. Nor is the court system- I refrain from calling it a justice system- treating him like the child he is. Of course, he can be rehabilitated if given love, guidance, therapy, and meaningful training/education, God help these " adults" who have the power to oppress and control the vulnerable.

He wasn’t capable of ADLs (13 cavities due to lack of brushing) and I’m confident he had issues with IADLs. Hence, his extreme anxiety about his future. This Doctor doesn’t get it. It angers me that our mental health system is so broken. This kid is begging for help. This is another failure. Parents, educational system, and now the medical field. THANK GOD I didn’t rely on the inept “experts” and didn’t give up until I found a competent Doctor. For anyone struggling as you seek for competent mental health care please don’t give your power away. Advocate for your children. Don’t give up!!! On the day of the shooting Mom and Dad were called into the school for his bad behavior so clearly he waited just wanting their attention and the school wanted the parents to take him home but instead they chose to out the principal and leave the there..
      Unfortunately because of Mom's actions or lack of many people lost their lives and many others lives were changed forever 😢

    The what ifs are numerous in this case.
    Ethan parents are despicable. Even if the shooting didn’t happen the scars of that type of neglect are tremendous.
    The same evidence that shows this was planned, shows the lack of awareness, care, responsibility of his family and community. In general we don’t see neglect documented so clearly. What would have happened if he had received treatment? If his parents didn’t just yawn when he said he was hearing voices? If they took him to a doctor? If school counselors didn’t have thousands of kids to watch out?
    What if there was an awakening about guns? School shootings are not a thing in countries with strict gun laws. How many deaths per year until people agree to the fact that the second amendment is hurting? That is not normal that students and teachers have to have drills for shootings.., that the school years shouldn’t be lived with fear about guns…

It is there to protect us from a tyrantic government. Our country is in dire straights with our current government. Having the right to bear arms is one of the only things keeping our government from COMPLETE control over us (American Citizens). I'm not making excuses for this kid at all. But he does not deserve life in prison without parole. All kids shooting cases are different but they're all the same. This kid did what he did more or less because his parents kind of instigated it. He wanted a way to bond with his parents. He made a plan and roll it out for somebody to find. He didn't kill that teacher because she gave him just the tiniest bit of respect and acknowledged that he was there. He probably went back and forth to the bathroom over and over again crying that somebody just somebody anybody would notice these warning signs of what I'm about to do I'm giving you the opportunity to stop me please please notice what's going on with me. Kids are not mature enough to understand what they are doing to the fullest extent. He's not insane he's not psychotic he might have mental illness to an extent but he's not crazy. He's a teenage human being who wants for every single person in this whole entire world wants and that's to know they're not alone. That's to know that somebody else cares about them. He even said it in his plan I hope there's somebody in prison I can talk to so I don't take my anger out on other prisoners that statement right there flat out says that to get his mind distracted from his anger this could have absolutely never happened. Just like not shooting the one person that said hi to him just a simple hi years ago saved her life. And that psychiatrist is extremely ignorant. She tried saying that oh well he knows what he did is wrong he could have distracted himself he could have instead of killing people went and tortured animals. Because that is what you're supposed to do. That fucking psychiatrist or something and should get her license taken away because if somebody ever told my kid who was having homicidal or suicidal thoughts instead of killing a human why don't you go torture her baby animal to distract you. It was the killing of the baby animals that should have been the warning sign. I can't believe she said he should kill animals instead of people. Instead of saying all this kid needed was one person in his life. He had nobody and all he wanted to do was make his parents proud and make them acknowledge him or bond with them here in. He probably writes down all those horrific things he wants to do torturing kids and girls and poking their eyes out and everything else does unbelievably dark because he's trying to imagine the most unforgivable thing and hope that it would make him feel a little better than how he felt. Or try to force himself to feel something. Regardless when it's all said and done the warning signs were there kids don't flat out come out and ask for help his parents responsibility to acknowledge they need it. The shooting is the final straw. This is when the kid realizes that he's begged for help and his own way and he must be so unloved and so invisible that not one person could notice it. So they break and give up and do something that absolutely no one can ignore. In a very rare situation it comes down to there's nothing anybody could have done no matter what happened. That's not how it is in this story that's not how most kid shooters are. This shooting and 90% of the ones that have happened and the ones that are to come could have absolutely been prevented. And all it would take is one person one person

He was charged as an adult also & therefore, the courts will have a 2nd huge discretion, you don’t charge parents when the defense demands a defendant charged as an “adult”. IMO - he went over the edge by doing what he did to the birds ! If he can do this and actually enjoy it…… we’ll he has gone over the edge , he has gone to far, he can’t go back, he can’t change what he did. He will become a serial killer eventually, this is another Jeffery Dahmer! He should not get out. He has felt what it was like to torture birds, he liked it! He can’t change those feelings! These parents made mistakes and need to be held accountable for the mistakes they made. Yet, there are many people that are not only neglected by their parents but also, beat, raped and isolated. Yet, they do not murder other people. When a person reacts this way, they are considered a danger to society. What I am trying to say is that children are also capable of committing crime even if they do not have a mental illness, are not under the influence substance or being forced into it. Many children decide to act upon the sinful nature that is within all of us, and they need to be held accountable for their sin. This is the consequences of his actions. His parents did not force him to walk into a school and shoot people. He made this decision himself. Therefore, yes we can empathize with his past, yet not ignore the fact that he is not innocent. Beings I been suicidal severely depressed and wanted to shoot up my school when I was 17 , now I’m 46 , thank God I didn’t but he’s SEVERELY depressed etc clearly ! I blame his parents for not paying attention to the clearly seen depression in this kid ! And providing a gun to him knowing he had severe issues ! But yes he should reap for shooting others but he also def needs mental health ! This is terrible for everyone! Poor kids ❤ but I don’t have any pity for his parents who should def be held accountable being adults and their obviously terrible ignoring parenting

      Well the 4 psychiatrists claim he wasn’t mentally disturbed, mentally unstable, depressed, or pyschotic. He’s plain evil & never told his parents one time he was mentally unstable or depressed. They knew he was and tried to do things with him over his friend being taken away due to mental illness. He didn’t want to be stuck in a mental hospital like his friend.

    13:23 Based on this Psychiatrist’s opinion, Ethan’s parents should be found NOT GUILTY. Personally, I question this Doctor’s assessment. Prosecution in this case agrees with this “expert” witness but maintain Ethan’s parents should have had the foresight to anticipate the probability of these murders. You can’t have it both ways. UNACCEPTABLE!!! 💔💔💔💔 These children lost their lives!!! They deserve better!!! Our society is perpetuating the problem rather than pursuing solutions (i.e., provide competent mental health care including assessments for every student at ages 10, 13, and 16).

      All that will happen then is more parents like you complaining that there's too much testing in school, that teachers are over-reaching, that schools are the bad guy and liable for not raising their students. This is the parent's fault and if they were held liable, maybe they'd put more effort into actively raising their children.

    • @Audacity0708

      The parents ignored this kid since he was very young. They ignored his pleas for help. They ignored all the signs. They were more interested in everything else in their lives and ignored their own child to the point he was described as “feral”. But you think they couldn’t have prevented this?

    • @dudemorris7769
      @dudemorris7769 8 месяцев назад

    This is all such a waste of time. They should just lock them up and be done with it. What does it matter. he wanted to hurt his parents from this if we allowed his parents to be charged we would just be giving him what he wanted all along. At the end of the day that is what he wanted. I know it sounds cold I know that his parents neglected him. But if you read his manifesto, he said that he purposefully wanted to ruin his parents life, and if we allow him to get vengeance through the courts, that’s actually winning

    I’m sorry but if Ethan doesn’t have a mental health issue that led to this act, I’ve lost all confidence in the field of psychiatry! I’ve never had confidence in the treatments however, I used to believe that diagnosis was fairly competent! His age and lifestyle (food, sleep and home life) also being factors. I don’t believe he is a sociopath like in other similar bad acts. Tragic for so many lives 😢prayers to all the victims.
