    From somebody who genuinely knows what they're doing...
    The rate at which one will mix all depends on exactly what it is you are targeting. For example if I am trying to kill pepper trees I will increase the ounces per gallon as opposed to if I were spraying dandelions...
    How many square feet plus the rate at which you are laying the chemical down is only a formula one uses to determine how much of the former "premix" one will need, as opposed to how you're going to mix the concentrate with water.
    As far as a private user goes it's not a bad idea to squirt a very small shot of dish soap Into the mix before putting the lid back on. I would strongly recommend safely mixing it in via shaking, or stirring. It's an inexpensive way to add surfactant to the mix for the private user. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what surfactant does but anyone reading this comment can look it up. It will make your chemical more effective.
    Speaking of more effective, if you really want to make sure your round-up is kicking butt and taking names, a small bag of granular ammonium sulfate (a.k.a. Sulfate of ammonia), will potentiate your round up something fierce! Just a small handful tossed into a 3 gallon mix will trick the plant into thinking its food and rather than reject it start drinking it like a cat would antifreeze... the only difference is, we are not trying to harm animals because we are good people. ☺️
    Not trying to be snarky or Mr know it all. I'm just putting this out there for anyone who may find the above information useful or enlightening.
    So alas, I'll end this little excerpt with 🥰, great video and thank you sir, for taking time out of your life to help others! 💪

      Thanks for the additional tips and tricks! Definitely more to getting “the mix” correct than just a ratio. One of the big challenges for people, myself included, is they want everything dead but can’t identify all of the plant material by name. Thanks again!

    Excellent thank you. I have another question. Does the weed no matter what it is stay dead longer if I make the concentrate higher? Specifically, I'm spraying parking lot weeds for lawn business, can I make it so strong it lasts 6 months as opposed to 3? Thanks

    • @HardyLifeOutdoors
      @HardyLifeOutdoors  5 месяцев назад

      Nah. The weed is either alive or it’s dead. You can’t kill it “deader”. Follow the recommended mix ratios and spray stuff as soon as you see it coming through the concrete cracks.

    • @HardyLifeOutdoors
      @HardyLifeOutdoors  5 месяцев назад

      And chances are if you are bringing mowers into that parking lot, you are bringing all kinds of seeds into the lot with you so they are going to germinate and grow.

    I'm planting live flowers, not using seed. How long should I wait after spraying to plant live plants? Great video by the way!

      @HardyLifeOutdoors  6 месяцев назад +1

      Glyphosate acts on a plant by being absorbed through the leaves and stems so you should be fine immediately but I would give it 24 - 48 hours just to be sure the don’t make contact with any wet gly that might be on the ground.

    Its typically 2-4 oz per gallon for most weeds depending on species and size. It doesn't have to be that complicated.

      That might be the formula for a hand sprayer but certainly not how you measure for a sprayer on an atv or tractor.

    I am sprayed an area of grass for the intention of making a wildflower area about 3 days ago (8/19) with a heavy dose of regular concentrated Roundup at a rate of 6 ounces per gallon. I also brought in 3 inches of top soil ontop of the sprayed grass. I was told to plant the wildflower seeds the beginning of September. I watched the video and listened but I’m having a hard time believing I would be able to plant immediately after spraying. I am not saying I am disagreeing because I honestly have no idea, I’m just a little skeptical. Anyone have a difference of opinion to the video? Would I be safe planting the beginning of September?

      Roundup works on living plants. Not seeds. That being said I have a friend that did a test in two flower pots. He spread seed on top of the dirt. One he watered and the other he sprayed with roundup. He got better germination out of the pot that was not sprayed with roundup. I prefer to wait a few days to let things die off but for people that don’t have time to wait it is ok to spray and plant same day.
      Thanks for watching and asking.

    We had a neighbor spray this religiously along our fence line bc apparently we brought weeds with us to the neighborhood. He would spray during high winds. It was constant. I have video of him doing it with our dog out we begged him not to. And he had a huge field with a ditch he didn’t spray that he let weeds go to seed in.
    Our dog died from kidney failure at 5 years old.
    There are lawsuits out about this causing cancer. *she was the best being I have ever known best dog to ever live.

      Sorry to hear about your dog. I am aware of the lawsuits and am aware that it is deemed safe when used properly. Using it in high winds is not proper use.
