    Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! I've got a yummy yin yoga class for you today which focuses a lot on our hips, hamstrings and lower back. You'll want to have 2 blocks for this class and I'd say this is best suited for intermediate practitioners.
    We'll hold each pose for about 3-4 minutes so make sure you're not pushing or straining. We'll go through poses like child's pose, dragon flying low, deer, head to knee variation and reclined butterfly.

    What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
    Although your muscles will also be stretched, that is not the focus of the practice. It is best to practice yin yoga while your muscles are cold and NOT warmed up, even if that sounds counter intuitive. The reason we do this is so that we can send the "stress" and the "Stretch" to the connective tissues. If the muscles are warm they will steal the focus away from the joints.
    There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
    1. Find your edge
    2. Be still
    3. Hold the pose

    This class is a MUST for all runners especially after running marathon, also for those who just started to run, it very helps to stay "butter" at your hips and legs🏃🏽‍♀️

    You are seriously amazing ❤️‍🔥 I always recommend your videos to everyone I know because you are so great at explaining how and where we should be feeling the stretch with each pose. It really helps me with alignment.
    This video is great for those that want to practice during their cycle. It’s my first day, and it’s usually the worst, but starting my day with these deep hip stretches have left me feeling so light, calm and grounded.

    Yin yoga is something I find so so challenging. When you say 2 blocks required for lizard I usually need 6 blocks, 2 pillows and a bolster. My hips are so so tight, I hold so much emotion there. A video on how to set up blocks for super tight hips wud be great. I love your other videos, I tend to avoid the yin ones but I want to try. Thanks for the challenge

    This was my first time doing yin yoga. I just learned what it was recently thanks to your lovely channel. The focus on the hips was very, very helpful for me.     I always struggled when I would try Yin Yoga because I can be quite impatient and need things to be fast-paced. I have worked on slowing down my mind and this practice was calling to me. I feel the most 'at one' with my body than I ever have before in a way I can't even begin to describe. Thank you!

    I’ve been doing this practice every day for a couple of weeks, aiming to regain better range of movement after numerous big injuries (knee, hip, ankle none of them recent)…finally have the patience and am feeling definitive changes. Lends new meaning to the term yoga “practice”! Thank you, Kassandra! You’re a wonderful teacher!

    Thank you, Kassandra. This was perfect for me this morning. I have practiced with you since the beginning of the pandemic and I learn something new from each of your lessons. Today it was the variation of deer pose, incorporating the blocks. LOVED it! Yin has become an important part of my yoga routine, thanks to you and your clear, gentle directives.

    Definitely intense! I loved the practice. I could have used more support cues during deer and dragon. I’m really tight and had to hold both poses up on my wrists and shoulders.

    Thank you for this class, after doing this class for some time I feel more flexible around my hips and it's such an amazing feeling, I hated my legs for years and it feels like I'm embodying my lower body

    So nice to have the time this morning to complete this class. I enjoyed the supported reclined deer pose and the seated forward fold with other leg in external rotation and foot behind the glute. Used my wooden blocks to gently weigh down my thighs in butterfly pose to deepen the stretch.

    enjoyed this so much! first time stretching this region but everytime i felt discouraged by my stiffness, kassandra’s gentle words really soothed me and inspired me to keep going. this 38 minutes just flew by! thank you so much for this series.

    I loooove your yin yoga. I started your yin yoga classes 8 months ago and now I can do child's pose again. I suffer from some intense hip and knee pain and your yin yoga has reduced my pain by 75%

    Yin yoga is by far my favorite, and this practice was just what I needed! I'm always looking for ways to enhance my flexibility and target my hips and hamstrings. I loved the intensity that was followed with an ease of calm.

    Been dealing with sciatica on and off for the last 10 years or so and idk what it was, but something in that specific spot got a sense of relief, like something released and I even felt go down the back of my leg.     This was so gooood....I could see and feel where the resistance was.....and my when I ever I surrendered...the melting sensation and the release was incredible.....I did add a few of my own poses that naturally my body called for....Kassandra I have been practicing with you for over 7 years...I am blown away of what still comes thru.     I wake up at 4am and always see your videos. I'll give them a chance tomorrow before my day in the field fixing everything. 26 years old and alot of injury, CRPS. This nervous system relay is the most beneficial so far. . besides drugs and painful deep tissue lol. I don't want those at 4am. Lol to early.

    020222 I am always hooked by hip anythings but I missed it was Yin, which isn't always my favourite... I feel great, hips all stretched (yeah!!) but my mind went for an epic wander through the 38 minutes (wait! 38 minutes???). The result is I am super super super relaxed, I found some solutions to stuff that was bothering me, and feel that the 38 minutes were very well spent, even if not the way Kassandra may have intended.     Of course ask your doctor before starting any regime, but I've found that hip exercises like these really help with my sciatica pain, especially after a long day of sitting at the office.
