Moving on from my Frsky X9D+ with OpenTX to a like new used X10S Express (got at a great price) with EdgeTX. Loving it, and will be donating to the EdgeTX team! Updated to v2.9.4 with no problems. Only lacking a touch screen, which I'm OK with, but what a solid radio. Thanks for the tips.
Great, thanks for this, some really useful updates and an excellent summary. One thing not mentioned in your vid, or in the release highlights for the final release, is that the power light has changed colour from blue to green.. previously reserved for charging. Having updated, my power light is initially blue then turns green. I noticed at around 19:35 yours is green also. Do you know any reason for this... if it is indeed intentional?
They fixed faulty code. From an EdgeTX dev "Yes. The TX16S (and other color radios) should have always been this way; but there was a bug in the code. It would only change the color to green if you had a throttle check wraning on startup. You can try this on 2.9.4 - start without any checks and the LED is blue. Get a throttle check on start and it turns green." See this issue for more info. github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx/issues/5010
Excellent info again one question when you demo in radio setup (time stamp 23:23) the date and time of the radio shows 1 Jan and 00:34 mine is the same but when I try to change the date time to the correct setting it changes to what I set but when I power off and turn back on the date and time changes back to 1 Jan time 00:00. Is there a fix to reset the date and time to the correct date and time? Thanks
What have they done to the blue power on LED, it's now green. This is the same colour as when you are charging the TX batt which is confusing. I also preferred the blue led. I've suggested to the developers - Could a led colour change slider be added in the TX settings menu allowing the user to select their own colours.
Hi sir i have a question, i wonder if Radiomaster T16S can do a lock stick while flying , For example, if i want to do Knife Edge , while doing it when i press the switch and it will hold the stick input. until i switch back to normal
Great videos! I just picked up an TX16S Mk2 as an upgrade from my Boxer 4 in 1. Do you have a video showing how to transfer models from one radio to a different radio type? When I tried reading models to companion from the TX16S (Currently on 2.10 - centurion) but I get a warning from Companion (2.9.2) that I could cause an error because they are not the same versions. Any advice?
The cleanest option would be to upgrade both radios to the latest firmware, download the latest companion, read from one, write to the other; however, the switch layouts will not be the same, so you may have to deal with some conversion issues.
I have learning edgetx on my radiomaster boxer. Is there a procedure to transfer Spektrum NX10 model files to the boxer? NX10 format is nspm. I need to move about 20 models. Your post a very helpful in my quest.
Good video John! Glad to see the new changes and features. Side note: Feature Number #5. 2 different options for quick push and holding SYS or MDL. Feature was introduced on 2.9.4 Providence...
Release notes say this feature was introduced in 2.10: UI/UX behavioral changes and/or new capabilities: colorlcd: MDL, SYS and TELE buttons now have long press actions... a long press (more than one second) now takes you into the Manage Models aka. "Model Select", Radio Settings => Radio Setup or Channel Monitor. A short press takes you to the Model Settings => Model Setup, Radio Settings => Tools or Screen Settings like with previous versions. github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx/releases
I just checked with 2.9.4 and the long/short press options are indeed there. Odd there's no reference to the functionality in the 2.9.0, 2.9.4 release notes, but there is a specific reference to it in 2.10 release notes.
Watching how long it takes for your long press to get the model select screen, it only takes a couple seconds. It changes to the model select screen while you're still pressing. On my Tx its taking up to 6 seconds, any ideas why is my radio so slow? Its quite difficult to use the menus at times.
I havent been able to get the T-1 ail and T-2 Ele to function. 1. On the screen you can see the T1 & T2 moving so the switch is functioning 2. when i go into input, mixes, or output, and clic on source or switch everything comes up except T1, T2 T3 or T4.. T5 & T6 even come but not the ones I want. 3. When I go into "MIXES" (ch1) I added a second line under Ail and then edit and choose T-6 for source and leave "switch" blank this allows me to use T6 and trim the ailerons as intended (old school) 4. do you know why T-1,2,3,4 are not showing up and if I can get T-6 to function the way I want how can I get T-1 &2 to do the same.
Yes, always a risk. THAT is why I'm still using the factory 2.8 version. Having 35 (+/-) planes, from 3ch to 10ch, 1 little mess up & I'm skrew'd. But, every update AFTER 2.8 has improved everything. I'm just 2 scared.
Risk? Yes. If you save a copy of the SD card or MODELS and RADIO folder before you attempt an upgrade... then there is none, because you can always roll back to the version you were on before and restore your model and radio setttings.
I tried the checklist, but it I don't think it works like it should. The checklist comes up, but you can't really perform items on the checklist such as setting rate or safe mode because you aren't "into" the model until you've done the checklist. Also to be more useful it might need to be set up on some sort of logical switch so that on multiple flights with the same model you can see the checklist again after you've brought the throttle down or activate the checklist with some other switch ...
All very nice but what's new on my poor little Jumper T-lite V2? Then again, for my little 3 quads it already does everything I need. I can pretty much keep my quad, goggles and TX in my coat pockets and still have all the edgetx goodness. I even managed to get a variable throttle cap by emulating a slider using the throttle trim. It even shouts out the percentage cap and warns me if a cap is in place at startup.
If your current radio does all you need, then you should just consider this noise in the system. If you're missing a feature, you can always make a feature request on the EdgeTX Github.
Thank you for all your educative videos. There is a probable bug with the date and time information , everytime I turn off the radio I lose the present date and time. Greetings Ramiro Huertas Colombia , South America
Pretty good Updates, but something I really like to see is, If it would be possible to change points on the custom curves via the global function. For example to configure the throttle Curve of my heli directly during flight.
As far as I know, curve points are fixed values--no support for GVs. However, if you watch this video: ruclips.net/video/lzWUhXblqus/видео.html This will show you how to set GVs using a knob, and you could use GVs as the min and max value in an output which will do what you're trying to do.
Hi all, i bought a tx16s multi, it has edgetx 2.9.4 on it. I bind it to spektrum dsm2 receiver, also tried a dsmx receiver. It binds fine, but none if the servos work. Trying to get into Edge and your channel is priceless. What is the best source to find all the documentation for EdgeTX? I just don't recall seeing this kind of detail in their documents, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. TIA.
The online EdgeTX manual is pretty good: manual.edgetx.org/ for radio options. They tend not to isolate/call out firmware updates as those are rather fluid.

Not totally related to this video. I recently purchased a RM MT12 with EdgeTX and internal ELRS Tx. Messing around with it I discovered model “backup”. Where does it create/store the backup? If there’s a backup option, why is there not a “restore” model option?
I don't have an MT12, but on TX16s there are only 4 options "select, duplicate, label, and save as template" I don't see a backup option. Maybe you can get on discord and show.
Before you showed the problem with the checklist, I had a feeling what was going to happen, since you mentioned the last item was the one to remember. My first thought, before you moved on, was, "did you add a carriage return at the end of the last line?" Also, did you try adding another item to see if the Punch it line appeared? I didn't see any troubleshooting going on.
Don't get too far behind. It's cool to wait for updates to get fleshed out. And if you stay one release behind you'll always have a rock solid firmware, but you don't want to miss out on the improvements they make.
Inactivity alarm used to say "inactivity alarm". Will need to investigate if that's gone now. The wheel only moves through the lower selectors now. Odd choice--I ageee. Don't need a wheel selector for a limited set of touch controls on the bottom. You should put in a feature request to revert: github.com/EdgeTX/edgetx/issues/new/choose
@@RCVideoReviews it's not gone. Mine started saying inactivity but I I can't remember if I changed that or not, but I am disappointed with not being able to use the thumb wheel. 🥲
@@RCVideoReviews If you are referring to what I think you are, it is because there is a difference between selecting a field with touch, and selecting it with the rotary encoder ENTER. If you use touch to select a field (i.e. a number field), you'll get the popup/keyboard controls at the bottom (which are also your only way to interact with that field if you don't have any hardware keys on a touch screen radio). But, since you have the rotary encoder, it will also scroll through the elements of the popup/keyboard. If you instead use the rotary encoder ENTER to select the field, the popup/keyboard controls *won't* come on screen, and the rotary encoder will increment/decrement the field. i.e. it is entirely up to you whether the rotary encoder directly increments/decrements the field, or navigates the popup/keyboard controls, depending on how you interact with the radio.
Doing a .TXT file with the exact model name for the interactive checklist- won't that overwrite the Model Info-file ? Or is it all contained in the same file?
Model files take the form of modelxxx.yml Model files end with .yml not .txt In the video I showed how to find the model file and how to name the checklist file. The checklist and model 'info' or configuration files are not the same and do not contain the same information. They are discreet files. They used to use modelxxx.bin for the configuration and modelxxx.txt for checklists. They got away from that and now use the name of the model as the name of the checklist file. In any case, the name of the checklist file is not the name of the configuration file.
@@RCVideoReviews Sorry to be a dweeb here but I am talking about the Model Notes (sorry that i called it "model Info-file" it was wrong and confusing) - Model Notes are also TXT files and how does it work when they got the exact same name? Because the Model Notes has to have the exact name of the corresponding model.
Yeah, so that's not all B&W radios. On the supported radios page, that is listed as community supported: "Not supported by the EdgeTX Team" edgetx.org/supportedradios/
@@RCVideoReviews ..Thx, appreciate it. Batt is on its way. Have you seen a problem with timer1, timer2, timer3 ? If I have one model on timer1, I can't use that timer with different model. Can't even change to timer3 which isn't being used. Running 2.10.1

EdgeTX is definitely not for everybody. It takes a little investment to learn. Until then, you can use a beginner radio with the inherent limits of the system in exchange for whatever ease of use you perceive.
@@RCVideoReviews well they are definitely helping spectrum and radio link sell products but I’m just asking making a mode that has actual thought out flow with a beginner or my 58 year old ass coming from 72 mhz could use to help us out and ease into the ecosystem and as far as I can tell you are the go to guy on edge tx and I appreciate all your work It would be nice not to pack 3 transmitters to the field Again thanks for all you do for our hobby
Always glad to help. I'll offer a suggestion. Feel free to do with it what you wish: 1) Start with inputs, mixes, outputs. ruclips.net/video/WmnZM5veAiE/видео.html 2) Once you are comfortable with the relationship between inputs, mixes, and outputs, focus on model settings. 3) Once you are comfortable with model settings look at Special Functions, then Logical Switches. Make a backup of your SD card. Then sit and watch videos (I have a LOT of EdgeTX/OpenTX videos) and just follow along with your radio. Don't worry about getting a model setup, just watch the videos and work along with them. Before you know what happened, a lightbulb will go off and you'll be like "ahhhhhhhhhh, now I get it" and you'll be unstoppable. Use your Radiolink to fly in the meantime.

I don't have an MT12, but on TX16s there are only 4 options "select, duplicate, label, and save as template" I don't see a backup option. Maybe you can get on discord and show.
my boxer does not work with v2.10, bug 5015 no sd card !
It was a bug. They fixed it.
Is the software for this very nice RP Pico Receiver, open source? What's the link?
I'm so way behind, I'm still under the dutchman. I've some updating to do. Thank you.
Don't get too far behind. It's cool to wait for updates to get fleshed out. And if you stay one release behind you'll always have a rock solid firmware, but you don't want to miss out on the improvements they make.
I love edge tx.
I can’t find your Discord!
The thumb wheel seems to no longer change selected values...i.e. subtrim value??? Beeping: Inactivity alarm
Thanks for the clarification. I'll give that a try.
Doing a .TXT file with the exact model name for the interactive checklist- won't that overwrite the Model Info-file ? Or is it all contained in the same file?
Model files take the form of modelxxx.yml
Model files end with .yml not .txt
In the video I showed how to find the model file and how to name the checklist file.
QX7 Access has edge tx 2.9.4 yes ,
no problem
I have a shut down sound on my transmitter
Not sure if there's a question here?
@@RCVideoReviews Probably a subtle reference to the fact you can have a shutdown sound as well as a startup sound... i..e. SOUNDS/lang/SYSTEM/bye.wav
Did you, perhaps, try deleting the ‘!’ mark at the end of ‘Punch it!’ and see if the entry gets recognised?
Developers acknowledged as a bug that will be fixed.
Great! Thanks for your elaborate and detailed videos.
PS Went back and looked at the video and the checklist. There is no ! at the end of any of the lines on the file in the radio. Where did you see this?
@@RCVideoReviews I thought I saw one in the checklist text file.
@@RCVideoReviewsperhaps add another “empty line’ ?
thx
Bug Alert, , Black and White radios can't update to 2.10.0 only 2.9.4 😢Edit- QX7 Access
?? my boxer is on 2.10.0.
Now 2.10.1.
@RCVideoReviews ok thanks I have QX7 Access
Yeah, so that's not all B&W radios. On the supported radios page, that is listed as community supported: "Not supported by the EdgeTX Team" edgetx.org/supportedradios/
@@RCVideoReviews I read All the directions 🤣 it was always like that. About supported radios.
Set the date, turn radio off and date goes back to 2000 01 01
Your rtc battery is dead.
@@RCVideoReviews ..Thx, appreciate it. Batt is on its way. Have you seen a problem with timer1, timer2, timer3 ? If I have one model on timer1, I can't use that timer with different model. Can't even change to timer3 which isn't being used. Running 2.10.1
Every time you show guides using your TX16S I kick myself for removing the factory screen protector film on mine. I have fingerprints galore on my screen
:)
Till these devs you praise so much can make this something that new or returning pilot can use my tx16s still collects dust just use it to fly micro eachine warbirds
I bought the radio link at10 2 you reviewed
Guess what set up a plane just fine no manual no calling things what they are not weights instead of rates etc
Sorry i am not a developer or programmer I just want to fly my planes
This radio is unusable for a new or returning pilots
EdgeTX is definitely not for everybody. It takes a little investment to learn. Until then, you can use a beginner radio with the inherent limits of the system in exchange for whatever ease of use you perceive.
@@RCVideoReviews well they are definitely helping spectrum and radio link sell products but I’m just asking making a mode that has actual thought out flow with a beginner or my 58 year old ass coming from 72 mhz could use to help us out and ease into the ecosystem and as far as I can tell you are the go to guy on edge tx and I appreciate all your work
It would be nice not to pack 3 transmitters to the field
Again thanks for all you do for our hobby
Always glad to help.
I'll offer a suggestion. Feel free to do with it what you wish:
1) Start with inputs, mixes, outputs. ruclips.net/video/WmnZM5veAiE/видео.html
2) Once you are comfortable with the relationship between inputs, mixes, and outputs, focus on model settings.
