I am after a robot pool cleaner and I have been researching this unit because its quite affordable HOWEVER -- I have seen a ton of negative comments on various reviews about this unit relating to breakdowns and troubles trying to get any support from the company..... Even if it cleans great I simply cant take the risk of it breahing down after a couple of weeks like I have seen has happened to a number of buyers.
Yes, I've also had many comments about this cleaner having issues. With any cleaner there's always going to be people that post about it and it's issues. A majority of the time the posters post only when there's something negative about the cleaner. I don't think nearly as many people post about how well the cleaner does. I still have the original Seal and the newer Crab version. I have tried to run both every week at least once a week. And they're both still working the same as the first week I bought them. The customer service is iffy at best. There's an obvious language barrier and slow communication time. I've heard of good and bad service. So essentially, I can only speak from my own experience with these cleaners. I've had positive experiences but others have had negative ones. I feel bad for those people but all I can really do is showcase what any cleaner does for me at the time of the video. Hope that helps.
really like your independent videos. some info, that if included, would really help, would be from where you purchased the vac, what is the warranty, how does the companies customer service compare to others, and how reliable has the vac been, where to get the vac serviced or replacement parts. this kind of consumer info is rarely mentioned in reviews.
Let me tell you - I had the model before the 2024 model which broke apart in less than a year. With the new model you can't choose if you want the wall or floor option. The last model had that option. I got the first one in July 2023 and could not order the spare parts so I got the new model last month. It is a rip-off. Plus they have a chat option if you have a question but nobody is there. Poor product and poor service. For that price do you think it's worth working only one year? I don't recommend it.
I am about to return it because I pressed the on button and it was flashing. So I turned it off and turned it back on and placed in water. It never came up to clean the waterline!!! It stayed down doing the floors and wall. Isn’t that crazy? I have yet to call and ask about those codes for the wall cleaning modes. So what the heck happened? Does a double start turn on a wall & floor only mode?🤔I’m charging it torestart and only turn it on once to see if it comes up to scrub waterline as it should. I have 30 days to return it so if it doesn’t start to act right it’s going back. Which was that other model u preferred? Was it the Aiper? Thanks
When you turn it on there should be a voice prompt that says which mode it's in. Does yours not speak to you? There's no real other way of knowing which mode you're in otherwise when pushing the button. It's supposed to verbally say the mode.
I bought this exact robot and I only have the one mode. Not a deal breaker, still love the thing, but I wish I had the three modes available on the button. Wish I would have known before I purchased.
I'm getting mixed reviews saying now that some of these cleaners come with multiple modes out of the box and some do not. So now I have no idea which ones do and don't.
I bought the 2024 model last week largely based off of your review of the 2023. I tried pushing the power button to change modes and nothing, as you mentioned. I contacted support yesterday and they sent me the link to the app. I can post the link here if you would like. Caveat, I installed the app and it cannot 'find my device'. I have sent a follow up on my ticket. Real bummer on the modes. I will definitely return it if I cannot have modes.
Oh yes, please post that link if possible! It's not a surprise it doesn't work... their app support is just bad unfortunately. And their customer support is so confusing as well.
@@imdefinitelydavid I did post the link but I don't think RUclips allowed it (it was from a google drive). Anyhow, support got back to me and provide another link to an updated app. Im going to cut my losses and return this thing. Its never a good sign when the customer feels like a beta tester. It does seem to work but locked modes is a deal breaker for me. I also noticed the Aiper S1 pro is now in stock so I am going to order that instead. Thanks for the videos.
Thank you for the link. It's a disappointment it's not on the play store or apple store. I mean, why would it be a Google drive link... At least the S1 Pro should be an upgrade. I have one ordered as well!
They will never answer you - I have the same issue. It is the only reason why I got this unit. Also please note I had one before and it lasted just over 1 year before it fell apart. The filter and the battery. Plus they ask a fortune for the spare parts. I am so mad right now.
i have a horrible experience with this one. out of the box only one mode and it never cleaned the pool completely.. i always felt it didnt have enough suction. the basket design amd the cover is poorly desinged and difficult to gwt on. mine also broke and would not go into clean mode after 1 month of use. Seauto did not respond to any request and had to return it theu amazon.
Users are reporting, including myself, that some of these shipped with multiple modes out of the box, and others with just one mode. And yes, I agree, the debris basket is uncharacteristically annoying to reattach. Sorry about your experience.
Haven't tested it yet but if it's the same as the last year model: Press the ON button to turn it on. Within 2 seconds, press and hold the ON button until the light turns WHITE. Then press the ON button again and it should turn yellow and reset.
Between the two, if you need a weekly timer and you have good wifi, I'd go for the C1. But if you don't need that timer, the Seal/Crab is the more aggressive cleaner for sure.
One more question... I have a spa that connects to my pool. The water is only about 1/4'' deep on top of the tile where it transitions into the spa. I noticed the Crab climbs up and over to your steps and tanning bed. Do you think that it would go into my spa? I wouldn't want it to.
It shouldn't climb over into the spa. There's always a minimum amount of water a cleaner needs to move and at the bare minimum I've seen this one need at least 6 inches. So the 1/4 inch of water leading to your spa it wouldn't sense and it should stop and back up instead of go forward into the spa.
I have the 2023 Seal. Have really enjoyed using it until it just croaked on me. I believe the battery has gone bad, and I am about 3 weeks away from my warranty expiring. I have swapped e-mails with the company and spoken with their customer service people a few times. They CSR finally said she'd put me in for a replacement unit, but that it would take a couple weeks to get to me. I am not feeling real confident that they are going to follow through with this offer of replacement, but we shall see. Hoping they send me a Seal with all three cleaning modes vs. a Crab with only one.
Sorry to hear about your Seal. They seem to take a while to respond but I think it's more of a communication barrier. It's extremely confusing which model Seal is which. Crossing my fingers you get the one with all modes!🤞
Update: I tried repeatedly to get in contact with Seauto by phone and e-mail. Calls were not answered, it would just disconnect. E-mails went unanswered until I finally got an e-mail from Seauto saying that they would not have my replacement in stock anytime soon and they are offering me a 20% discount on the purchase of a new one. I rejected that offer saying it was completely unsatisfactory and they came back and offered a 30% discount. I rejected that offer as well and suggested they send me a new battery as that is the likely culprit. Have not heard anything back since then. It seems like they are a very sketchy company and I won't spend another nickel with them.
Wow I'm sorry to hear that. The seauto cleaners I have are still working well so I've been fortunate enough not to have to deal with this sort of stuff. Thank you for sharing your experience
Correct. I've mentioned this a few times. Seauto makes it very confusing and depending on the brand you buy it from it may come unlocked with modes or not, or you have to pay extra with an app.
David loving the reviews been watching all to find out best one to buy. Quick question what’s the Water depth of your tanning ledge? I have something similar but think some of the cleaners wouldn’t work as it may be too shallow.
My tanning ledge is about 12-14 inches and it cleans it well. I also have two very shallow steps above that ledge in each corner with only about 6 inches that it won't climb up. But that's normal, no cleaner climbs those steps.
@@imdefinitelydavid thanks mate, I spoke to a rep from Aiper and they said that the Scuba S1 and S1 Pro needed 19inches to work so I know that’s not true as I’ve seen the S1 work on your tanning ledge. Will you be doing a review in the S1/N1 Pro? Also there’s one from Australia where I am the Poolbot B300 that’s looks the goods also.
Well I think the Pro version is taller so it might be different. But yes, I have one ordered and supposedly it's "in stock" on their site so I'm hoping they ship it out soon. David - I also wanted to highlight that my crab from Amazon (May 2024) was also unlocked with all modes. No app needed. IOS app doesn’t work. Android app works but only shows SN and firmware version. Thanks for all your videos - they are great. We really like the crab. It doesn’t struggle on our ledges like the seagull pro did. The crab *sometimes* falls on it back on our steps but we are working on a modification to see if it works better.

I got this robot because in the old model I was able to choose what I wanted to do so this is a giant rip-off. I have heard of upgrading not downgrading. Not only that - but - my last robot did not last very long because the filter cover got broken shortly after I got it because it was of poor quality. Also the part at the bottom just fell off but I got it again because I was familiar with it. This company wants extra money for basic things and if you buy a new filter and battery it cost the same as a new robot. I will not buy from this company again.
