Here is my comparison review on the Seauto Seal and the Seauto Shark cordless pool cleaner. Two of the best valued pool cleaners on the market today!
The Seauto Seal is an impressive cleaner. Cleans the floors, walls and waterline of your pool! The Shark on the other hand, being the big brother model to the Seal takes it even one step further!
Two very similar cleaners but the Shark has a slight advantage. The Shark has four different cleaning modes including Waterline Cleaning mode which focuses ONLY on the waterline. And includes an Ultra-Fine Filter!

Just got the shark delivered today and put it in the pool. First impressions are fantastic. Found this at walmart for $409. I will try the super fine filter tomorrow as my pool needs it. Note, system says you can only use super fine filter in floor only mode
Yup. I tried it with the filter inside still to switch it to other modes but the voice prompt will keep repeating till you take it out or switch to Floor mode.

At walmart they only sell the Shark online. It's from a third party through Walmart so you can't find them in stores

Yes, I got their 3 year warranty as well. Came to right at 500 bucks with that and tax. Works great so far.! Catching every leaf in the pool

The Shark has a major problem!!
After only 6 months of use, the Charger connection to the unit began to melt and unable to charge. It was so hot that it melted the connection on the unit.
I WAS very afraid that a fire would start. and kept a fire extinguisher close by.
I've tried to contact Seauto to get a replacement, but have gotten a huge run around. I have not had a pool cleaner for almost 3 months!!

Hi Dave, Enjoy your thorough reviews. My Polaris has quit so I have to get a new cleaner. I would prefer the Shark but it is not available. I'm looking at 500 range and trying to decide between Niya 50 or Wybot. I really like the speed of the Seal and hoping this carried over to Dolphin Niya. Beside the shark, which one do you think does better at the waterline. Also I have a lot sand to deal with on the bottom.
It's so hard to find a cordless cleaner with an ultra-fine filter at the $500 range. The Shark is the only one I know of still to this day, except you are correct, it's no longer available. Someone mentioned they are still available on a site called Woot but I've never used it so I can't vouch for it.
The Niya works just like the Seal, that I do know. The wybot c1 does have an advantage with a timer function though if you want that. It will need a wifi connection to do it though. But neither has that ultra-fine filter for lots of sand. I really wish there were more options with that filter at that price range
Any insight into the difference between the Crab and the Seal? They seem crazy similar on the website besides the running time (although they have the same battery size; which is weird)?
The Seal was last years model and they've switched over to the Crab/new Seal now.
The run time is weird. Same battery size yes, but the way it moves now in the pool is different compared to last years model. Like it's more consistent in the pattern it moves. Probably why the run time is lower
Best bang for the buck.. Seal is $299 on Wmrt, Shark is $399.. I will get the 4yr warranty with them so I can take them back if needed. I have a 16x36 fiberglass pool with curved walls, seats in the deep end and 2 sets of stairs in the shallow (3'-8.5')
I'm actually quite impressed with WM's warranty and return policy. Better than buying direct from manufacturer websites and licensed dealers. Good choice!
would you go with the seal or shark for my situation..? I'm on the fence. And have read where the shark does not do a great job on curved pool walls with the waterline only option. @@imdefinitelydavid

I think they are either very low on stock and need to restock or they may be releasing a new version of it soon since the new version of the Seal is already out. That could explain why the price is so high
Hey David, check out the "Hydrus" model of this cleaner. It is on Woot right now for $214! I assume they are clearing them out to rebrand into the Dolphin but at $213 they are a steal. The "shark model is also available for $487. Based on all your videos I dont think the fine filter they include justifies that price increase, correct? Those filters constantly need to be replaced? thank you
Hey, I just got my seauto seal from woot, mine has a squeaking sound when climbing and cleaning waterline. Does yours have it too?
I would say so. I think it's just the rubber squeaking against the waterline tile..mine didn't sound concerning
ive had my shark now for about 4 weeks. keep going back and forth with tech support on trying to get it to connect. they are basically little to no help. would be nice to access all features without needing to use the app. i need to change speed settings but cant. it moves too fast and blows fine dirt all over the place as it moves. they keep saying the same thing on the emails; make sure BT and wifi are on, unit is on, make sure you are within 5m of each other. also this doesn't support 5g wifi so you have to make sure your phone is on 2.4. that is all i have received via phone and email over 4 weeks of going back and forth. unit works well just wish i could use its features.
I agree. This cleaner as well as all other cleaners should allow all options on the physical cleaner/control unit. These companies all make extra money by adding "options" to apps so they can charge extra. It's an issue with every brand, big name and small.
Thanks David. Great reviews! The Seauto being sold on Walmart only has a 7,800mAh battery while your video says it’s 10,000+ mAh. Did you get a special version? Where did you get your Shark from?
The one you seen on Wmt is the new 2024 version of the Seal. They also call it the Crab or the Shark even though the name "Shark" was used on the 2023 model.
In 2023, last years model, there were two models. The Seauto Seal and the big brother, the Seauto Shark. This video was made last year for that model of the Shark.
The new one you see on Wmt is not the same! Looks like they're just sticking to one cleaner and using different names for it. So the new Shark you see is the same as the new Seal/Crab.

Really cleans like crazy.
Does walls and waterline first. But when it does floor it spends huge amount of time. Wish it would spend some more walk time. Do you know if this changes in future.
Also if it finishes the floor do you have to let it keep going until the battery is dead and parked.
If it could stop early I could throw in my spa. Appreciate any info
The original Seal will most likely not update for different modes. I'm sure they have stopped supporting it by now. I'm surprised you actually found one! But yes, I love mine!
And yes, you can take the cleaner out anytime. You don't have to wait till the end of the cycle. It won't mess it up or anything.
It seems good so far but seauto is terrible if you ask them a question. No responses. I guess since I got good price just use it till it quits.
Do you know how to get it out mid cycle. Do you just hook it and pull up while running.? I have not been able to get mine to communicate with the app. Not a big problem since rather use the power button on the unit.
Yes, that's one of the bad things about Seauto, the communication unfortunately
The app is terrible. At first launch it worked, but since then it has never worked again. The only way to stop it mid cycle would be to fish it out with the hook.

I rewatched your video and saw that you said the app is no good even if you can locate it which I can't. In the manual it says to "unlock seauto" by downloading the app. In your video you can simply change modes by pressing the power button again, my seauto will not change modes, it is always in all mode. I can only turn it on and off, any suggestions.
Oh wow, sounds like yours is defective. Out of the box I remember mine worked fine on the physical cleaner. I would return it for another. You shouldn't have to depend on that sketchy app

Funny you ask. I tried it and was surprised that yes it does. It actually fits perfectly inside so the baskets are the same size on the Seal and Shark
I do want to add though, there is an extra frame piece that holds the cotton foam piece of their version of an ultra-fine filter inside of the Shark filter. Both the Shark and Seal have the same debris basket but the Shark has an extra sort of basket that has the cotton that goes inside of the debris basket for it to work.

They both come with a 2 year warranty. It used to be 1 year but they changed it to 2 year which makes it an even better value. Glad the videos helped! 😃

You can find it on Amz. Search for "cotton foam seauto" and it'll come up. The cotton foam is their version of an Ultra-fine filter. It is however, a 10 pack of foam so it's around 50 bucks. I guess it's because over time they have to be replaced. It's weird

Oh yes you do actually. I just realized that piece holds the foam down inside of the normal fine filter. Sorry I didn't even pay attention to it since I have both baskets. The Shark has that extra frame piece inside the basket. I was able to pull that frame with the foam and put it inside the Seal basket. But I forgot the Seal doesn't have a basket frame thing

Just got the seal but my pool is shaped like a kidney bean and gets stuck in the deep end. It probably works better with just flat bottom pools. Pretty disappointed.

I keep my pool clean all the time. I have a cleaner in there almost daily, and that's my choice as a pool owner. I will not leave my pool for days without some sort of cleaner. Other owners are different, some the same.
I understand you want to see a dirty pool, but I just don't let my pool get that way. These cleaners aren't designed to clean a completely brown or green pool with debris everywhere, at least not without chemicals and running multiple times. They're designed for maintenance and maintaining a good standing pool. Yes, I could have more debris in videos, but I won't change my own routine.
All of my cleaner videos are for my pool and are my own opinions. For the most part, I show how a cleaner moves and acts in my pool. You're free to always look elsewhere.
@@imdefinitelydavid we have little things called winter, storms ,100+ degrees and algae. Not to mention square feet and gallons.... Like 40,000 gallons.
I understand that, again. My pool is different. The area I live in is different. What I experience is different from yours. This is how I take care of my own pool in my own area. I choose to make these videos based off my own setup.
You're free to do your own reviews and post your own opinions, if you choose to. I respect that and you should as well. These are my recommendations. It's always the pool owners choice on what to do.

Go to a real setup? This pool is my real setup. I don't have access to other people's pools. I don't work for pool companies or services.
If I ever walked out and my pool was dirty, as dirty as you'd like it to be, my immediate thought wouldn't be to record a video. I would just clean it.
I have a real full-time job I go to. Making these videos are a hobby for me. If it was my full-time job sure. Maybe you should reach out to those guys instead. Hope that makes sense.
