I've only been crocheting for about 6 months now and am self taught just by watching tutorials. Just finished this lovely place at pattern. First time making one. I found it very easy. Haven't ever blocked anything so am watching your tutorial on that. You are a great teacher. Love your enthusiasm! Filmwork is clear and easy to see and follow along. Thanks so much.
Hi Jayda, I am halfway through one of these, and I wanted to tell you that I love your videos. I just let my hubby hear you and I told him your voice sounds like happy sunshine! Your tutorials are my favorite. You explain things really well. I'm making these for my Granddaughter's housewarming party. She's going to love them. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your talent with us. God Bless.
I love it. I finished my first starburst modern doily place mat and am giving it to my sister. I love your enthusiasm . You are the sunshine on a cloudy day. Keep up the great work,
Made one of these yesterday and just finished another one today; with a few mistakes (mine) along the way but I got them corrected. Wasn't sure if my recycled yarn would bleed so I didn't take a chance and colorfast them and looking forward to doing more.
@@JaydaInStitches of course... I've enjoyed your other videos as well.. you inspired me to make two scrap afghans and... I've used your Placement with Starburst Border pattern several times...lots of FUN ... Thank you for sharing your talents!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!! I have never attempted anything like this. Didn't think I could do it!! Your videos have brought my confidence level to a new level!! THANKS for all you guys do. God Bless.
I love using chargers all the time. I will be making this pattern soon for me and for a couple of gifts. I made your coasters and then I made doilies with crochet threads and used steel needles I found at the thrift store-what fun! Thank you Jayda! xo~
Hi Jayda I have made a few of these for my family and they all loved them u got me crocheting again use to crochet with my grandma a long time ago now im making my grandson a baby hat just found out im gonna be a grandma again thank u for sharing all ur wonderful crochet projects :D
I made this, with your tutorial. And I also tried with a crocheting thread. Using same size hook 4.and with the same pattern.. Came out lovely, only smaller. Thank you very much, for your tutorial. Love the pattern.
I made one of your flower doilies that I use under one of my teapots in my teapot collection. I might have to make this one to do a teatime place setting.
Beautiful! I never made one so I'm going to try. With the placemats you could continue and make a cardigan, poncho,a summer bag.Your patterns are always inspiration. 😊👍
Hi Jayda, this is my first time for a comment, but I love your patterns. I have made other doilies, but I love this pattern , it is so easy, especially following along with you,....works up very quickly too. I am also working on the Calendar patterns for this year. You explain everything so well. Thank you, am so glad I found your site.....Margaret
Love this! I'm getting ready to make a big stack of them! I really enjoy making doily inspired projects and have made many placemats and coasters. When I was much younger and still had my eyesight and non-arthritic hands I actually made thread doilies.
Hi Sandra, that's great! The thread doilies really demand a lot of us, don't they! I love airy, lacy looking projects, especially those that are quick and not so hard to see!
I just love you to bits, Jayda. A beautiful project, definitely one on my list to do. Thank You so much Honey. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.xxxxx
Hi Laura! I hope you had a marvelous weekend :) Yesterday was rain with thunderstorms, but it makes everything super green the next day, so I can't complain ;)
Thanks Jayda for a lovely easy pattern. I enjoyed making this doily/ placemat. I used thread so mine came out quite small, just the size I wanted for a little pot plant.
Beautiful placement pattern! I made one already and I'll be making some more of these. Other then your coaster tutorial, this is the only doily project I've made so far. Thanks for another great tutorial! Have a great weekend! ❤️
Hi Becky! :) I hope you had a great weekend! I've started on a set for the fall, and a few as gifts...the requests have already started LOL...guess I'd better get a jump on everybody's Christmas gifts!
Nice pattern. I'm currently working on a Doily using thread, it's currently about 24 " diameter. Thanks for sharing and your time. Hope to see more like this one 😍🖒💖👏👏👏
I have made doily inspired placemats but mine have scalloped edges. I like that yours are pointy. 😊 They were easy and quick to make. I like mine under a plate on top of a placemat. It does look like a charger, as you say, and gives a more substantial look without actually being heavy. My aunt liked mine so much when she came to dinner that I made her a set as well. And now my other aunt wants a set, too, so I will be busy making placemats soon. Loved the video. It was very clear and easy to follow. Thank you! 💖🌸🌈👏
Nice! Very clear instruction. Pretty placemats. I've made coasters with both cotton worsted and No 10 cotton thread, but never anything larger. I might try these in hemp cord but would probably have to do an extra round before finishing with the petal points. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you for sharing such clear tutorials! I’m a beginner at crochet (6 months now) and made six, 2 each in red, white & blue for U.S. 4th of July dinner party . The placemats & coasters (each in 3 US flag colors which I made following your other video) were a wonderful conversation piece. People seem to appreciate hand-made work nowadays more than ever. Really excited to have the good fortune to find you as there’s no one else to learn from. Thank you!!!
Hi Jayda i love everything that you do can't wait to do the once for fall. I also did the square for july and the open pancho that you made i love it. The shades that i used for the placemat is the peaches & creme psychedelic it came out beautiful. thank you for sharing.
I’ve always found crochet hard and never been able to firgure it out, however I managed to follow this video!! At x0.25 speed and pausing to catch up I DID IT!! it’s not perfect ahah and I missed some stitches but it still came out amazing thanks!!
That's fantastic! Working in the round can often be more trick that working back and forth, so pat yourself on the back, you clearly have a knack for crochet :D
Thanks for this tutorial. 💕 I've used doilies as place mats before; I made several 6-pointed pineapple doilies in different colors in college to put under my clear glass dishes. I remember one boyfriend didn't think that that was really clever. No surprise that we didn't date for long. I have young children now, so we use quilted place mats with the alphabet and numbers. We need some tractor-themed place mats, I think.
I've been watching so many of your videos for the past month that I sound Canadian! This is a perfect pattern for holiday gifts! Wouod you consider making matching coasters and a matching table runner? My mom would get a Christmas set and my sister would get a Mardi Gras set :) thank you, you're the best!!!
Hi Angela, thank you for watching! We have a couple of coaster tutorials, the classic one in particular looks nice with these placemats, you'll find the links in the description box :)
Thank you Jayda, such a lovely design so pleased with my placemats, you are such a wonderful teacher, but I was wondering if you had a coaster pattern to go with the placemats, found one similar but not quite the same.
@@JaydaInStitches thank you, the two coaster patterns didn’t seem quite identical but i did the first four rows of your pattern and then the last two rows and increased one stitch on the 5th row (49 stitches) and the coasters look wonderful, thank you again, going to try your oval placemats next.💖

After making your tea pot cozy, and the larger placement, I've only just realized it looks like we both have Royal Albert bone china! Yours is Old Country Roses I think! I have the Val d'or set (partial after a moving accident) supplemented with some microwavable plates/bowls for convenience.

Hi Jayda!! I'm going to stitch one up for on my counter I usually keep some fruit in bowl on my counter and I will put that under it it'll make a nice placement for that ,, if it gets dirty I can toss it in the wash easier than A doily ,, now I'm gonna look in my yarn closet and see what color to use.,, thank you Jayda your crochet friend Sue💕
Hi Sue, I did the same thing LOL. We have these wooden side tables, which I really like and don't want scratched or damaged so I've made one for each of them, so now I don't have to worry about picture frames or anything else sliding across them and scratching!
Hi Jayda, I am so glad I found you! You explain things very simple and slowly! I do have one question, which I am not sure you do...when you go under the chain or loop, are you going under 1 or 2 of the loops. I've seen some RUclips tutorials that do just either the front loop or just the back loop and some that go through both. Being a somewhat beginner, it would help to know which is best. Thank you! And, I have to agree with Ms. Perry, you have such a bubbly persona and very welcoming!!! :-) :-)
Hi Lori! If you're joining at the top of the Chain-3, you can really use whatever part of that stitch makes it easy AND keeps it neat and tidy against the stitch next to it. I typically use the chain like I would if I were to crochet into it (so 2 loops across the top, 1 underneath my hook). This can change depending on the pattern (or teacher) because you can get slightly different effects depending on what part you use. For this pattern, it's not terribly important which part you use :)
Hi Jayda, I love this. I've looking for something pretty yet simple. Thanks! Can this be started with a magic ring/circle instead of joining chains? If yes, how?

And now my other aunt wants a set, too, so I will be busy making placemats soon. Loved the video. It was very clear and easy to follow. Thank you! 💖🌸🌈👏
