You've shown me my niche! I love crocheting, and I've only been doing it for a few months, but I've been struggling to get into patterns for blankets, dish towels.. the back and forth - it's too simple and boring! This though, this is what I was made for! The complex, ornate patterns satisfy me so much and I'm flying along. Thank you for teaching us how to do this so clearly. This is the first of your videos I've seen, but it's just the beginning. You've shown me where I belong in crochet. Thank you!! I get so much satisfaction and entertainment from this, and coming off long-term, severe depression, this is another piece of finding myself and building an enjoyable life. It may seem like just a video, but small things can have huge impact. I'm going to gift this to my friend's daughter, who I recently bequeathed a few pretty pieces of antique cups and saucers, teaware, that had belonged to my gradmothers. They're from the same era as this pattern so, I figure it's fitting.

Thank you so much for your kind message! I am very happy to hear that my tutorial has been inspirational and motivational to you! I feel the same, it is really satisfying to create these crochet pieces, to see something pretty emerging from your fingers. I can't stop crocheting for that reason, and I'm glad to have so many fellow crocheters on the same wavelength. This keeps me going! So thank you for my motivation! Happy crocheting!

@@handmadebyraine this came out so well for me and it's only the 2nd doily I've ever made. I do have a question that's important to me... I'm using the exact same thread as you and mine is twisting up on me real bad. You don't seem to be having this issue so my question is how can I stop this twisting of the thread?? It's twisting up as I use it. I've had to stop my work and let it dangle down while it unwinds then start working again. This is quite a distraction for me and I really wish there's a way to prevent this from happening. I'm wondering if it's somehow caused by the way I hold my hook and yarn?? I'm NOT holding the same as you but the way I do hold them is how I've always held them for everything I've ever made and I've also seen many other creators hold theirs exactly like I do BUT these creators are not making doilies but rather making afghans, hats, scarfs and other clothing. Any help is greatly appreciated. God bless🕊️❤️🕯️🙏

I just finished that doily today. The challenge was the thread as I don't feel it since I have some neurological disorders. Didn't give up.
I blocked it and starched it too. Plan to frame it and give it as a gift. Thanks for the tutorial as it helped me a lot.

@@handmadebyraine Thank you for your kind words. It's not a big deal as I learned to live with it and adapted to the situation. I even use my feet sometimes to help me with the tension when my left hand gives up.

Thank you! I crochet quite tightly, you could use a smaller hook or try to adjust your tension. Blocking always helps! 🙂

What a beautiful pattern thank you for sharing this with us! I followed along with your excellent guidance and my Irish doily is gorgeous and looks a lot like yours. But now I realize that I don't know how to weave in ends on super thin lace. Do you have any tricks? Should I just use my crochet hook and do duplicate stitch somehow? What a beautiful pattern! Thank you thank you thank you!

Thank you for you're well explained easy to follow video very much appreciated. I was wondering if it is possible that I could use this pattern to make a round table cloth but leave the picot & rest onwards to complete the finishing end. Thank you again from New Zealand 💓

You are most welcome! I definitely recommend experimenting with the pattern and adjust it to your preference. I don't have specific tips as I haven't done it myself. Happy crocheting!

I just finished making this. I used size 1 (fine) yarn and a 2.5mm hook. Mine came out to an 8 inch diameter. I don't crochet especially tight and I used a bigger yarn and hook than you did. I'm not sure why it came out an inch smaller. It's beautiful anyway.

Thank you! I haven't tried making it bigger but you are welcome to experiment, maybe use bigger size of thread.

Wonderful tutorial! Thank you! QUESTION……. I made this and it’s beautiful but I would like to make it much bigger. How can I achieve this?

Thank you! You could use bigger size of thread or even yarn and bigger hook.
