Bless your heart. I had a stroke a year ago. My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was 6, the stroke affected both frontal and occipital lobes. After I began to get back to somewhat normal, I discovered my ability to crochet was gone. I have had to completely relearn crocheting. I tried simple potholder’s but failed. It was so frustrating. I came across the coasters , and due to your patient instructions, I have succeeded in completing 2 so far. I’m planning to make a whole set. It seems that my skill is beginning to return. Bet you didn’t know you are a stroke therapist. Thank you so much.
Jayda I love your tutorials. I love that you do not play any annoying repetitious background music and most of all I LOVE that you explain every stich clear as crystal. Thank you so much.
I have listened to many many instructors, but you are indeed the best at explaining and keeping down the extra chatter. Your explanations are concise and easy to understand. Plus, and this is the best part…your voice is very pleasant. I get a kick out of your giggle. Thanks for your hard work in helping us!
OMG i love this beautiful coaster. The pattern is so easy to remember which works perfect for me because I get distracted easily. So thank you so much.
Jayda, I can’t help but smile while I am watching your videos because your energy is so bright and your giggle is infectious! Add onto that your innate talent for teaching, making sure everyone understands exactly what is going on and why, and you are one powerhouse!
I have tried and thrown away so many "bad starts" while attempting to learn to crochet ( after retirement) but your videos are so good and so easy to understand that I have not only completed projects for myself but I have made gifts for my family and they have all turned out beautifully. Thank you so much. I go to you first for everything now. My next big project is a wave stitch afghan, and I am following your tutorial to get that done. You are the best there is and you have not only taught me but you have made it fun.
Jayda you are amazing you are always so happy and jolly never in your videos have you been grumpy or sad. you always teach with a smile on your face which inspires most people because you wouldn't won't someone with a frown on their face. I am 11 and because of you I have been so much in to crochet and if it wasn't for you, crochet would never be in my life. thank you for everything. I have already made a baby blanket, baby boots, baby hat, slippers and a scarf. I love to create staff of my own. I started crochet when I was 10. thank you for inspiring me to crochet. I can't wait to see what I will make in the future
+Nora Kaneva Hi Nora! I started knitting when I was about your age and I've been crazy about all needle crafts ever since :) Being creative is fun and always makes me happy, I am delighted to know it makes you happy too :) Thank you so much for watching and stay crafty!!
I've watched SO MANY crochet tutorial videos, but I can confidently say... yours is BY FAR the most elaborate, the smoothest, clearest, and most detailed without it being boring or overwhelming or annoying. Your voice is perfect for the video so is your charismatic character... Thank you so much I'm really glad I stumbled upon your channel. I'm already starting my 12-set (red&green) Christmas coasters thanks to you. Happy new subscriber ♥
Fabulous! Earlier this afternoon I thought "I can't do this!" but I have, five more to go. Your videos are so clear. Your camera angles are PERFECT and the speed works. Thank you!
Thank you for this easy pattern and for demonstrating it in a way that is so easy to follow. You are the first person I've ever saw that holds her yarn the same way that I do while crocheting. Everyone thinks I hold it so weird but it's the only way that fills right to me .
I love the coasters, and the sunflower is a great idea. Thank you for making such wonderful detailed videos that are easy to follow. Your laughter and personality make it more enjoyable to watch and make it so it is not just a regular tutorial.
+magicmom123 Thank you so much for watching :) ... I'm actually on the hunt for brown cotton yarn, I am TOTALLY going to make a set of little sunflowers coasters * giggle * I love sunflowers!
I absolutely love these coasters. They are small enough to look like a proper coaster yet large enough to set a big coffee mug down on. The pattern is really cute and as with all your tutorials, very easy to follow. Thank you.
Jayda, Love your tutorial! You're the best instructor for crocheting. You take the time to explain step by step on how to crochet. I finally made this coaster after practicing over and over. I also showed my niece your tutorial and she made some coasters for her husband's grandmother. We are both new on crocheting and we are hooked.Love your personality and your little giggles! :-)
Hi Mildred! Thank you for writing :) I'm delighted to know I've helped create two new crochet monsters!! I love the portability of the craft, all these little projects can be popped into a purse and taken anywhere!
Hi Jayda. You saved me again. I made 6 of your coasters as a thank you for our friend in USA, we r in uk. I've never made them before and knew you'd be able to teach me. I am relieved and so happy to report our friend loved them and uses them everyday. Thank you so much xx
Thank you so much for posting this. They are so adorably cute. Literally 2 years ago I bought this huge bag of several ends of cotton crochet thread for two bucks at my local thrift store knowing one day I'd find a use for them -- each remnant makes about 2 coasters. I have been making another pattern out of regular yarn, which I thought were really cute and it never occurred to me to use cotton thread. I was in an accident in 2005 and I have a brain injury which affects my short-term memory and language areas. Your instructions were very clear, and the camera work was great. I really appreciate your efforts to share this adorable pattern. I'm making things for a booth at our local farmers market, and I'm certainly going to add these to my stack -- I know they will fly off the shelves -- that is if I don't end up keeping them because they are way too cute. Most of the yarns were varigated in differenet colors and all of them are -- say it again -- sooooo cute. Best wishes
Hi Patricia, thank you for taking the time to say 'hi'! I love those odds and sods bags of yarn that I find at the local thrift stores, each bag is full of inspiration :)
Best video for beginners! I hadn't crocheted in _decades_ Every other video seemed to explain in a hurried manner with no close ups either. I really appreciate that! My first effort turned out pretty darn good. Made some mistakes but still need to get used to it again. Thank you!
Made some of these awhile back for myself. Love them. Recently I was asked to donate a basket to a charity, I decided to do a kitchen basket, filled with pot holders, trivets, dish cloths, dish towels and naturally coasters. I immediately thought of this coaster and whipped up a set of 6. Would have liked to include placemats and a market bag, but everything was kind of last minute. Maybe next year. Oh, i also included a flying disc just for fun! Thank you for everything!
Just found these when looking for new crocheting ideas! (There are only so many blankets you can make!) 🤣 Making sets of coasters for presents! Thank you so much from the UK!

One of the best tutorials on RUclips! Have already made more than half a dozen with this design! Many thanks for making it so well and helping me hone my crochet skills! More power to you!
Jayda I stayed up the other night watching video after video about simple crochet techniques simply in an attempt to make a few coasters. Humorously, watching crochet videos late at night is a sure fire way to get to sleep. :) Your video however was so easy to watch and so colorful and well edited that I instantly sent myself a link so I could watch and follow along the next morning. Clearly there are many talented artists out there and there are some good teachers, but you are everything a student needs. Besides your cheerful attitude and your diction, you explain each step just beautifully, not rushing through the steps, not assuming the viewer knows exactly what do do.... anyhow, many thanks. I made a set of four coasters this morning in a short period of time and it's all thanks to you. Cheers. (Oh, and the close ups are clear and well angled and I appreciate all the attention to detail. I saw one video from a woman who used brown yarn against a brown table and it was so hard to see.)
Your tutorials are very educational and you go slow enough for newbies to understand. I saw the finished product in the thumbnail and was intimidated because they look really complicated, but your breakdown of steps puts them into perspective and makes me want to try them! You are a wonderful instructor!

I’ve always loved these coasters. I’ve made them for myself and gifts. I was given #10 cotton thread in various colors. I made these with a 3.5 hook (E). I repeated R2 but put 2 ch instead of 1 when I repeated. They turned out beautiful! Perfect size coaster. LOVE ❤️
You do give very clear instructions. I appreciate that because sometimes I get confused with directions. The pattern is also easy and helpful to me; I have pain issues with my hands and fingers. Thank you for sharing your gift!
Hi Cozette, I suffer from RA and when it flares up in my fingers, it can make crochet a real painful challenge, so I can relate! These small little projects are a welcome addition to the hobby, they let you begin and finish something relatively quickly which gives your fingers a break when you need it!

Will def post some if my projects I have crocheted already! Keep up the great work... Very inspiring, and you make it fun and easy to follow! Huge thank you...😊🙏
Thank you for this tutorial! I made a 25 of these coasters in many colors and gave sets of them as Christmas stocking stuffers. (I also kept some for use at home.) Is it possible to get a printed copy of the pattern? Again, thank you. I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm and your approach to teaching.

Wow! That's a lot of coasters :) You'll find the pattern over on our website on the Pattern Workshop page :) Check out the description box for more info!
Love your energy! Plus, your instructions are fantastic, just the right speed. Thanks Jacquie
Hi Jacquie! Thank you so much :)
I know it's an old video, but I made a set 4 the first time n they came out great. Gave them as a gift n love them. Are there any matching placemats if so can u do a video of them, thx.
Thinking the same thing. I have seen the oval version. Do you have a pattern for the coaster but big enough for a pitcher. For the summer?
