I have a 2012 328xi N52 coupe that i really love, it looks really nice. My current issue is that my radio is completely dead. For the price you paid you got a great deal.
Thanks, watch the follow up video. It’s all fixed now for about $4k total investment. I took it to work today, little over 30 minute drive each way and it went great.
It’s an N51. I have the same car in black, but not the I drive. Someone waited too long to change the oil in that car. The N51 engine is a tank, which tells me the previous owner probably changed the oil twice in its lifetime. The N51 will last over 400k mikes. That engine is just broken in. And the N51 comes with the 3 stage intake. So if you tune it, you beat half the battle. Good luck. It’s a beautiful car and rides really nice. Get a cold air intake, get rid of the carbon filter, get the extra DISA valve that goes underneath the intake, get rid of the resonator, high flow muffler and a tune and you gain 60hp.
@@coreysgarage6389 that’s awesome, but that specific engine is not known for spun rid bearings, which tells me, they barely changed the oil. Good luck! Keep us updated on the car. Tune it. Add the second DISA valve. Do the resonator delete and you’ll gain 50 HP. Then yolk really appreciate the car.
Just randomly found this comment and I have the same car and want to get a lil more power and throttle from this car so when u say tune do u mean the computer tune or basic ignition coil and spark plug tune?
@@youngace1229you can get about 70ish more horse power out of the car without forced induction. You’ll need headers, exhaust, if you have the stage 3 intake, then you’ll need the extra DISA valve. Remove the charcoal filter in the air box, replace oem filter with K&N filter, Delphi coils, and a tune to accept the new disa valve and exhaust. There’s also a device you can plug into your accelerator pedal that will increase throttle response by 10 fold. Those changes will give you about 70ish more Horse power. Don’t forget to do maintenance first before adding more power to the car, I.e., all gaskets and oil change.
The cage assembly and oil filter cap should all be together as one piece, meaning you press the oil filter into the cap and cage assembly and replace both o-rings when doing each oil change. Whenever I do the oil filter I use quite a few paper towels wadded up around the cap to prevent any oil seeping down, also covering the open area above the serpentine belt.

Dud, when you fix that engine, and sounds like it could be a piston rod problem. Lots of knocking, and if you have low power. Well, for sure your gone to be rebuilding the engine. (N51) is the engine that was mostly sent to smog states. They have smog pumps on them. Now the house power is very good not to mention it has a three stage manifold. Or, have disa values on the manifold. That block is magnesium and aluminum and the bolts, any bolts you put in the block must be aluminum you can not use steel bolts. Cheap oil filters can be a big problem, if they break into the engine, you could destroy your ENGINE. And yes" use Mann oil filters. Anyway good luck Bud..
