Just got a 2008 328 i with 55 k miles on it . car is in mint condition . Its an awesome car however it can get you in trouble with state troopers. I am little concerned with repairs but will see .
@@CarMikeReviews thanks Mike . your review of the car actually helped me in deciding to get the car . Mine is also automatic. I'm pleased my with my purchase . I did a lot of research on the e90 generation and learnt to stay away from 335I and xdrive systems .
True facts toward the end of video about the maintenance. I’ve owned my 2011 BMW e92 328i since 2013; she’s at 147k miles, still on the original transmission, water pump (knock on wood lol), and of course bulletproof N51 engine. Yes, it averages $2k in preventative maintenance a year but it’s still fun to drive. Already experienced the valve cover gasket, oil gasket replacements. Yes i wished it was faster but she’s been overall faithful during all 4 seasons. She’s my daily driver and i hope to keep her beyond 150k or one more year. I actually think she can last longer lol. Good review, any long term owner of this car truly loves it for the way it drives and is a BMW enthusiast because the newer BMWs don’t have this old fashioned swag that the E90 series has; truly a legend in the automaker’s history!
Car Mike i personally think that after the E90 series...BMW lost its competitive and innovative edge with its famed 3 series lineup. The new g20 bmw 3 series is supposed to be a comeback but i highly doubt it, but only time will tell. Hence another reason why i want to keep my e92 a little bit longer. I do believe the M3 and M4 still carry some of BMW’s original swag.
I always thought the e92 had the N52 engine. You said it takes about $2K in PM costs for the year. Do you do the work yourself or is that a dealer price for maintenance? I can’t even imagine how expensive the transmission would be if that went out.
If you want more power out of your 328i, the first thing you need to know is whether or not you own a n51b30a engine or a n52 engine, it's on the sticker under the hood. The n51b30a engine has a 3 stage intake stock but is detuned due to BMW trying to save money and re use parts. A n52 engine also can use this, you can pick up a 3 stage intake manifold used for around 400, program the car to use it and gain a good chunk of power as well as mid range torque. It also gets you better MPG
I am on my 2nd 2011 328 xi. My second one, because I didn't get to see your video before I bought it. I took a test drive, and was blown away by it's smooth acceleration and handling - like you said, you'd think you were on rails. The car just holds insane corners at speed and grips like it's nailed down! So I drove it, loved it, bought it. Didn't pay attention to how many drivers it had (I was the 6th) before me - mileage was pretty good for an at-the-time 4 year old car at 74K. Mine was a sedan. I owned it for 3 years and when it ran, I had a lot of fun - but the other 6 owners before me also had a good time, and either rode it hard or never maintained it. It was constantly in the shop, for major repairs - somewhat mitigated by the extended warranty but still, always in the shop makes driving it a not so fun experience. My wife started calling it my "Blow My Wealth" car! After 3 years of this, I had to just give it up as a bad decision and traded it for a 2014 328 xi. My wife loved it - it looked great - but it was neutered. No driving dynamics like the hydraulic steering gave me. It had a softer ride and you only knew what the wheels were doing after the fact. After a couple years of that, I found myself always looking for that cream puff 2011 328 xi, you know, the one with 1 owner and low miles? Found it! Yep, 1 owner and 54K miles in 2018. And this time I knew the history, and then did what you suggest-have a mechanic go thru t and give me the list of preventative maintenance it needed, and I've done them all over that 3 year period. Now, it's in near showroom condition mechanically and only cosmetic defects in the paint. I just absolutely love driving it - there is no other car I've owned that has made me smile so much- the car is just that different!
looking at a 2010 328i xdrive for my first car, listing is for $4500. will go take a look soon. looks like the previous owner nd the 2 prior to him have taken care of it and updated the things that tend to fail. Do you think its worth it?
Bro, do you have the 3 stage manifold, that's the way to go. Mine is a N51 with that engine. It has quite a bit more power. Cool BMW the ultimate driving machine.
Amazing whip, it’s a beastLiterally just drove to Orlando and she’s roaring in between 85 and 95 miles an hour for 10 minutes at a time with the tach barely on three the car wanted more gas but hey..
Hi Michael nice review:) like you said dont need Xdrive dont need turbos dont need this that other parts to break down and the straight 6 is nice and smooth if you want a high performance car then buy the lab:)
Good review. Have you experienced any issues with the injectors? I’ve been having problems now for rhe past 2 years. The issue has been a skip or miss jn rhe engine which gets worse either time. It’s been identified as need for a bad injector multiple times now with two or three dif shops. Prob is it keeps occurring. Has anyone experienced this? I have a 2011 - 328xi with approx 102k. Thanks guy
Nice video-I get 16.9 city and 22 highway. Fine with me because I'm driving at speed all the time. Cruising at 80 with Tac at 2800 is crazy - like the sound it makes just cruising. It doesn't float-seems to settle in 80-85 with no effort like it's notched there.

It does have swag. I don’t know how BMW lost it...perhaps it’s back with the G20 tho?

If you work on cars the 328 is pretty easy on the wallet. It's only if you take it to a dealership that it'll suck
