I Bought a Cheap BMW E90 To Prove Everyone Wrong About Cheap BMWs

- In this video we pick up a 2006 BMW 325xi for only $600 after casually scrolling FB Marketplace. The ultimate goal, if we can get it running and driving safely, is to take it out racing at rally cross event. BMWs, especially cheap ones, get a bad rep for being poorly maintained, hiding expensive repairs, and unreliable. Can David come out of this relatively unscathed? Did he get a good deal? Let us know in the comments what you think and if it survived its first rally cross event.

$600????? It better not start.😂😂😂
We knew it was smokin deal since we didn't even haggle
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garage you know how to work on Cars to sealed the deal.. take this thing to the dealer~> mortgage the house/refinance . If they work on this Car..😂
Very quality video you don’t sound repetitive it’s refreshing to see this type of content, goat of the Cheap marketplace BMW DIY
Thank you!
Enjoyable video where you faced, and resolved, real world issues of a used car that has a dubious record. The current 3.7K subscribers list doesn't do justice to this channel. I hope you will keep at it, with quality videos like this, and for you to get the number this channel deserves. Good Luck!

Thank You! Glad you enjoyed the video
Guys, Think you are hittin' "It" on this one. People who would watch these want to see exactly what you detailed. Codes, Fixes, Engine/Chassis Repairs. This is a very well done DIY inspirer!
Got ME fired up. Former Beemer owner Jon should really like this. Thumbs up! Hi to Dad.
Thanks Stew, we are really trying hard to keep things as relatable as possible and to act as an inspiration for others to try it out for themselves.
man some people just don't deserve bmws, glad you're restoring it
Replace the fuel filter pressure and the o2 sensors.
Give a good clean for the MAF sensor, vanos solenoid, throttle body and valve intake.
And like you said replace the valve gaskets! Replace the Valvetronic motor when you’ll do the gaskets. Easy fix and fun to do.
600$ great deal 👍
Good job 💪
Find your video in feed and immediately click in coz now days this gem in my country pretty affordable.. hope i get one day respect 🙏
Makes me miss my E91! Good save on this car. Your misfire could also be very related to the valve cover gasket too. I had that issue since there could be air getting through.
Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to stop putting off the valve cover gasket and do it as soon as possible
Amazing content and quality especially considering the size of the channel! You’ll grow fast :)
Thank You! We've been working hard at this and I'm glad you enjoyed
nice project! thought id mention that it looks like you installed the inner brake pad on the outside 13:48. also replace that valve cover gasket asap, luckily being prelci you have the metal valve cover.
Good eye, I did make that mistake and caught it before my on road test drive. I was just hoping no one would notice lol.
I just bought a cheap e90 325i as well and mine is in amazing condition in comparison. It's clean and barely a scratch on it. I just had to replace the Vanos Solenoids and check valves and also one ignition coil. Still cost a bit of money (parts aren't cheap) but the car is almost flawless now and I love driving it.
Good find! Hopefully it doesn't give you any problems and you can keep enjoying it
Your video just popped up to me. Loved it, nice editing, very satisfying content! Keep it up! Looking forward to the rallycross event video!
Thank you! I'm currently waiting on parts to fix what broke at the event. New video should be out soon. If you liked this video you should check out our other content because it's all filmed in a similar style.
That`s the spirit!!!👏👏👏👏Great effort my friend...reaaaaaly nice!!!👌 The car was abused by the previus owner but once ypu get it right , it will serve you well!!Those are great cars and deserve to rule the streets 🙂😉✌
Thank you! I'm excited to actually get to work on this car and enjoy it as it really is a fun car to drive
this was super entertaining, love my e90
Thanks a lot! Make sure to check out part 2 where it tried to survive a rally cross event
i got an 06 325i for 600 bucks cuz it wqs a no start after diagnosing it i bought a new sateter amd battery and git it running it needs a bit of work like shocks and tires but the car itself is pretty mint
I had an E36 328i that was fun, but something was always breaking on it. For rallycross, it looks like you will need to give it a 1" lift minimum to handle off-road racing. I did one rallycross event a few years back, it was a good time.
I was really trying hard to find an E36 but this one came up so I had to get it. For rally cross, I'm competing in the stock AWD class, and suspension mods aren't allowed in it, otherwise I'd do a small lift.
That poor, poor bimmer. Nice work!
Thanks!
My first thing is always to detail a cheap car and get it looking best as I can so it seems worth it to fix it up lol
Detailing a crusty car is an instant value add that only takes some elbow grease and cleaning supplies. Also makes cars so much easier to sell when it comes time.
Its crazy but if it sits for long periods of time the spring in the strut explodes. lol
Such a BMW problem lol. I thought that they kept the exploding to the cooling systems
I’m from Maine too!!! And I also happen to be looking at buying an e90
I'm actually in NH, and bought this car from Maine. I'd strongly recommend spending more money upfront on something that's in better condition lol
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garage thank you!
@@Dan_And_Daves_GarageI ended up buying a 2008 328xi (e90) for 2k with 158k miles and rear brake issues
Mine was $1500 330xi 6 speed, it had been parked for 3 years owner died interior is mint though.
If it even has working cup holders you're golden
Im picking one up Saturday if all goes well. "Needs a clutch"
Good luck with it! Hopefully that's all it needs and you picked up a cleaner example than mine
WOw! A true testament to BMW at leaast for the non turbo models LOL. I've got the big power turbo one and it's both awesome and a pain but these are great!
I have never understood why people put seat covers over a leather seat ( Yes i know this is vinyl not leather but still ) My OCD is very triggered by how dirty the engine bay is!
In regards to the weird deposit on the Spark plugs, It is from wrong grade fuel. Probably been on 87 its entire life
The fuel grade probably tracks, people buy a luxury car but don't want to pay luxury prices for maintenance and running the car.
Where can you access factory manuals?
There are links on the different BMW forums such as bimmerworld. Otherwise you can actually buy access to and download the different FSMs from BMW themselves through their TIS site.
If that how you're going to treat it, instead of bringing back? then all that missing is are the liquor bottles.
I'd argue that it's still in much better hands under my ownership than the previous owner.
just ruined the new spark plugs by not replacing the valve cover gasket mate.
As I said in the video, future me problem. Didn't really have the time to do the gasket before the rally cross event but it's on the short list to do now.
wow for 600 that is steal mate..in europe you just cant get only motor 25i for under 1500 eur.
Thanks, with the 6 speed manual I knew this car was worth trying to save. Manual in the US is a relatively rare option.
Get after it brother!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
We're trying!
Your oil filter cap is missing a part
Which part is missing? I'd actually really like to know. The center cage part is there so not sure what else could be missing.
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garageto not get vanos fault codes and have the right oil pressure i suggest you getting the cage for the oilfilter cap
Should i get a e90 ? 🤔
Such a loaded question. They're pretty cheap and I think they offer a good bang for your buck, especially the 335i with the N54 if you want to make more horsepower. They handle well, and IF maintained, they can actually be fairly reliable. If I had to rely on this as a daily, I'd pay more upfront and buy the best example I could find.
What did you use to check and clear the engine codes?
Launch CRP123 OBD2 scanner. It's about $130 on Amazon.
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garage thanks for that. Is that better than apps you can get for your phone? Like Carly and stuff?
I've never used Carly or any of the phone apps so I can't say if it's better or not. As long as you can get live readings from sensors, generic DTCs and brand specific DTCs, that should cover 90% of the use cases for normal people.
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garage thanks again. I look forward to maintaining my BMW.
Gawd looking at this poor car and the mess inside it, you can tell some people are real trash.
Even with the DUIs and trash, the bigger red flag is that the previous owner went to a comic con expo.
What a beaut
Thanks
You will never financially recover
Lmao, that's the risk I'm willing to take so others don't have to.
@@Dan_And_Daves_Garage fellow 2 time E90 sufferer here both 6mt one was 328 rwd the current is 335 awd
You got the good engine watch that 2nd gear synchro though
Noted on the 2nd gear syncho. Definitely chose the N52 over the N54 because of all the headaches people get with it. Wouldn't mind a 335 but I'd definitely get one that is in much better condition to limit the amount of damage to the wallet
I've heard that GM automatic transmissions in E90's can last forever. Is that true?
Can you guys do a how to drench your car in milk tutorial?
Do you think 2% or whole milk will make a difference?
