Nothing was talked about that could actually move their character development forward. Instead, we got given things that have literally never even been HINTED at before this episode, like Keith digging into Allura's dead father for absolutely no reason, and questioning whether they're even friends in the first place (it's been 7 seasons and several years in their timeline, what?????). The only relevant thing that was brought up (Keith joining the blade) wasn't even talked about, it was just acknowledged that he 'ran away' with bitter resentment from Allura and Lance. 😍😍😍 I really didn’t like this season because of the TWO EPISODE LONG FIGHT SCENE and the characters development for lance that we were promised but never got, but when y’all listed off the many good things about the season, i really remembered my love for the show. hopefully the last season ever will give us some Lance that we’ve been asking for, and a bit more relationship between the characters.
Ahhh. I subbed to you guys because you were literally the only Pidge stans on RUclips and also because you ship Plance. I stayed for the humor and the amazing analysis!! Keep this great content coming!!
I agree Lance need so much more screen time and he deserves it. I'm not actually salty about Alurrance, I just hope they do it well and its not a rebound from Lotor or anything like that. I also hope they explore Shiro and Adam more, as it felt a little dry
You know, Alfor wasn't much better. He built 5 lions not knowing that they could combine into one big mecha. Heck, he built the black lion and did not know he built in a face in that lion? It shows that humans are just like the Alteans. They have no idea what they are doing...
When me and my sister first watched the "Shero makes giant robot from nothing", it made us laugh so hard because it symbolized the magic system so much. When ever a new power is introduced, they're always in a tough situation and their lions "are telling them something" and then they deus ex machina a solution. The ship robot scene was just that but with a giant Baymax instead, which at least takes advantage of the fact that this magic system lets them do anything the writer wants and makes it so ridiculous it's funny.
What if lance loses a leg or and arm or something? I think that this would really help his character development, and would serve as another consequence of war. LIKE IMAGINE THE CHARACTER GROWTH
It would definitely bring character development, but maybe not the right kind? I totally would want this to happen because I love me some langst, but it wouldnt help Lance much except add onto his original insecurities. From hints dropped in the show, we can conclude that Lance's insecurities stem from a feeling of being second best after Keith or just not being enough in general. I feel like if he lost something it would add on to the feeling of being useless because now he's even more far behind, and the writers do nothing with these feelings even though they have soooo much potential. OR it could be the thing we've all been waiting as it forces the entire show/plot and all its character to slow down. Lance will obviously need a lot of time to adjust, and it can bring the characters closer as they comfort lance and just get time to talk. This show is seriously fast paced in everything that shouls be slow, and drags out unnecessary stuff to further their plot. So, basically, Voltron's writing is always all over the place so no matter how sudden this would be, it would be 1000x better than what they call "character development". And I kinda really want this to happen lmao. Sorry for the long paragraph oops
Share the same thoughts as you.The character moments,as rare as they were, were really good.Wish we had seen more of them. You seriously are one of my favourite youtube channels. Not only extremely funny, but also thought provoking.
Oh thank fuck I'm happy that this is an actual review and not just salt. Been drowning in salt the past few months x'DD I thought about how voltron feels very episodic without being episodic in the worst possible way. Like the episodes on their own are usually fine and some are really fucking good. But when it all fits together it feels like a crammed together puzzle with pieces that don't fit together and then was painted over in places to give some semblance of cohesion. Like there's little to no buildup and pretty much never any payoff, especially where characters are concerned. The good points you brought up are great and feel awesome but the thing is that since the show's never set any of it up or had any of it play out the impact of all of it feels excruciatingly hollow. Especially when you genuinely want to like the show and are rooting for the people behind it to do a good job. Idk. I hope the next season's good.
Once again, another great video! makes me super happy when your videos first popped up in my recommendation! ever since the patriarchy of voltron vid ive been subbed!! loved hearing about you guys points about voltron (also loved the violet evergarden review you guys do these SO well) which made me think alot more critically about the plot! (btw random sidenote would you guys possibly review the old voltron? like the one in the 80s? ive been seeing alot of clips here and there and idk why they always crack me up but yeah)
I honestly can’t wait for season 8 >< but I do think they rushed to end the series,*sigh*oh well.I think your review is sooooox10000 accurate,I can relate to what u said/I agree! You guys are amazing honestly:D(also i hope plance becomes canon in the next season lol)
So what you’re saying is Voltron is great without Voltron. Hmmmmm... 🤔🤔🤔 Also I agree with you that Atlas was ridiculous. I laughed when it appeared on screen! I still enjoyed it though? In like a, “this is so cheesy” kind of way. My favorite episode was Lost in Space, too!
I love you guys, everyone else I watch for Voltron is like 'no my babies' then you two are both like 'die already' really loved this review. Why do hw when you could watch Avo Rabo right?
I always thought that Sam actually built Atlas, waiting for the chance to have enough power to not only run, but also become the mecha we see it turn into. It can certainly make sense when seeing Shiro use his bio energy bs to activate the transformation, but I digress. Nice video.
This might be the best s7 review so far! Everybody just complain, complain and Complain, is so annoying. Is good to see someone actually acknowledging the good side of the season, it was a very good season and different from everything they did before! I also loved Voltron's new wings and I'm disappointed that everybody ignored this Also, also, if people focused on the season itself instead of just focus on the ships, I'm sure they would really enjoy it Last thought: I loved how you were all serious and then just went "but that freaking robot Shiro made with his freaking mind!" 😁
I'm hype for season 8 fuck also uuuhhh hey your channel sparked my fascination for mechas and voltron again so I enjoyed catching up to the end of this season so yeah cool thanks. lookin forward to more content
I agree about basically everything in this video, like the teamwork and interactions were great but the second half felt horribly boring, especially the extra robots (especially atlas and how it doesn’t make any sense). The art, voice acting and animation were amazing, yet the writing was pretty lazy towards the end.
I kept skipping parts in season 7. I was so bored and it was just fight scene, team work, fight scene, team work. No character development for any specific characters. Allura has a magical solution for everything, and we all know she’s going to end up with lance. Surprise! The series wasn’t about teamwork, it was about the Mary Sue in the middle of all of this! Where is lances ark without allura? Nowhere. Because he’s a flirty “lover boy” he has to have an arc centered around a girl. Makes sense. I can tell from the S8 poster that he and allura are going to be together. They put him behind her, a side character who has contributed near nothing to the series. Makes complete sense right? Also, I know y’all are tired of everyone bringing this up, but the race gender and sexuality picture still stumps me. I wasn’t expecting lance to be bi, but after keith and pidge had gotten their arcs centered around the sign they were holding, I really thought that they would add something like bi lance to the series. He could hit on some male alien, and then once finding out he is a male, still pursue him. We all know how violent this fandom is when they don’t get what they want. Don’t get me started on hunk, he just got his arc. Until now, he’s pretty much only been a comfort object. His arc wasn’t even good either. What was that? One episode about it and then completely ignoring it for the rest of the season? How does that make sense? No long sappy talks? No lighthearted family bonding scenes? I had to walk away from my screen to refill my water glass, and 2 minutes later we were already in another fighting scene. I will be watching season 8 to give dreamworks one last chance.
preach it. I don't watch the show for the over-the-top mech fights, in fact I fucking HATE mechs. What keeps me watching is the characters, and even that is lacking. I just wish they took advantage of character building situations/episodes earlier on, and MY GOD give Lance more time to focus on his family. They started that plot up early in season 1 then just dropped it, such a waste of character.. Still love him tho
there's a difference between growth and a character arc! character growth just means that a character has had a Point A in the beginning of the story and a Point B that they finish at. An arc is what shows how you get from Point A to Point B so that it makes sense and actually feels like the growth that it's supposed to be. Unfortunately, Lance defending his sister is neither of these. We know that Lance has always been willing to put himself in harm's way to save others because because of how he shielded Coran in season one during That One Explosion, so having him save his sister (who he's emotionally closer to anyways and therefore more likely to look out for in the first place) doesn't actually demonstrate any development at all. hope that cleared up some confusion! ♥️
lol sorry you had to reply this comment was supposed to be lost in the masses. yeah I get what you mean and my original comment was badly worded when compared to what I meant. If I remember right (which im probably not my memory sucks) you said we got nothing from lance this season so I just thought that scene was really touching how we was gonna sacrifice himself for his sister. again sorry
Honestly the background about earth was my favorite part. This season is my favorite, because watching earth defeat a technologically superior enemy is a plot that I’m always a sucker for.
You talked about how the four seasons before s7 were wasted but I personally thought Season 6 was okay it payed off some important set ups (Lotor's inevitable betrayal, Kuron, Keith's mum), that fight scene bewteen Keith and Kuron was nicely done (if a little distracting in how unrealistic the physics were) and it introduced the fact that the paladins would be going home in the next season which really hyped up the continuation of the show. Then again, I honestly can't remember any of the other character interactions (outside of Keith and his various parental figures) that were not romance related, that two year getaway Keith went on with his mum felt forced (why was the time jump necessary, I get that Keith needed time to bond with his mum but... 2 years?) and while I liked Keith that season I was very ready to put him to one side and make way for the other paladins by the end of the season. As well as this I felt he hadn't really earned his leadership. Sure he had become less temperamental, he had cleared up his motivations (blades vs Voltron) and he mostly let go of his abandonment issues but he didn't interact with the team at all pretty much before he was all 'I'll form the head'. Finally, the moments that were unrelated to Keith and Shiro payoffs or Allura and Lotor payoffs just didn't really have anything memorable or character developing. That being said I would put s6 as my third favorite season after s2 and s1, if only because we finally got some milestone character development. Then again I wasn't super into the show before s6 so I didn't go into it expecting too much.
Hey Avo Rabo! Thanks for the excellent content as always. You guys are bloody hilarious and I re-watch your videos whenever I need a pick me up. Agree with all your point on s7. The second half was pretty awful and the pacing was ugh. Hunks character arc/development was okay. Just okay. The Journey Within, Family Feud and some small interactions ("I guess when it's so dark out here it doesn't really matter") was a highlight. It was a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 for me. 8/10 visually. Have you considered doing a series on the new Netflix series Castlevania? I think you guys would really enjoy it and add a bit of variety to the channel. S2 just came out and god damn, it was jaw-dropping. Would love to hear your opinion on it! Keep up the good work fam but don't feel pressured to put out more content you don't owe us anything.
hi there! thanks so much for all the praise!! we always love to get requests from viewers about what we can do for new content, and I agree that adding variety to the channel is a high priority! I've seen season 1 of castlevania and enjoyed it, and would love to watch s2. it's definitely a possibility!! thanks for such a sweet comment ♥️ -avo
Avo Rabo Thanks for the reply lmao. Honestly watch it even if you don't put it on the channel. It's that damn good. Every flaw from s1 has been fixed and the animation quality is the best I've seen in a Western animation for years. Trevor and co banter is hilarious and the VA for Dracula gives a fantastic performance, especially in ep7. However I don't know how you would go with it being advertiser-friendly and all that, but I doubt you guys are doing this for the money.
Honestly I did think this season wasn’t that good because it was truly just only about getting back to earth. This season just created a plot for this episodes and tied it up in the same season, due to this the creators just added random things into the plot because it is truly boring. Because they usually focus on the main goal and people rather than actually focusing on the people they created. As you said the characters literally make the plot or story This was my opinion on this season
I’ve watched all the Voltorbs and their honestly great. Will you guys maybe do other shoes like what you do with Voltron in the future? May I recommend Over the Garden Wall?
Have your voltorb videos have been uploaded out of order? Also did previous videos get deleted? I've only watched patriarchy and marmalade videos so far.
hi there! sorry about that, we initially started voltorb as a funny every-now-and-then thing and only did a whole series for season 7! marmalade and patriarchy are out of order as far as show chronology goes, but other than that everything Is in its place and nothing's been deleted! thanks for the question!
I actually really liked the earth episodes and I liked the final episodes and enjoyed the fight a lot (besides Shiro's new Voltron which made me laugh). Overall I loved this season.
Was just recommended this - lovely review. Agree with a lot of it. Keith and Hunk are my babies, also I think I relate to Keith when it comes to distance - but I legit compliment people a lot so it's weird lol. Also I liked the episode where that Druid was trying to kill Keith. Some good horror fuel. Keep Up The Good Work~!
I'd watch you guys talk about it, cause it's an important topic that needs to be discussed. I have my own strong feelings on it, but I'd like to hear yours.
You guys were totes on the mark though, some of the best moments, even in the original series, are when they get out of their lions and simply say "You talkin' shit? S Q U A R E UP!"
Yeah, I didn’t like the giant robot made out of Atlas either. I feel like that was a last minute decision. Also, Romelle needs more character development though I love her personality. Really wish Lance had more development as well. The whole “seventh wheel” comment he said should be explored but with one last season to go, who knows what they’ll wrap up and won’t?
i actually got into Voltron this January through a friend and I stopped watching in the middle of Season 3 after Shiro left. I got hecka bored and Keith pissed me off ( I love him now tho ) but then right before season 7 another one of my friends convinced me to finish the show. it’s good ig I mean I honestly like the first 2 seasons everything after that was meh
I’m fucking 24 years old and I can’t even make one video with a fraction of the editing quality you guys have. Thanks for making me realize I have a long way to go with video editing along with addressing my fucking existential crisis XD
The Galra invasion episodes are amazing. Also, did anyone else notice that they kind of go into PG-13 territory a few times with a character being shot and killed directly on screen without the camera cutting away, all the cities getting destroyed extremally quickly to create a sense of hopelessness and making it clear that dozens of people died? Also, I think that Ezor should have had more screen time.
They use Voltron so much in this show, season one is an exception since they were getting used to using Voltron, but since season 2 they just began using Voltron more and more. The battles would have been more interesting if the paladins themselves were put in any real danger even in Voltron or in their individual lions, like maybe when their fighting in their lions a few Galran ships destroy part of the lions and they have to go to a place to rest and try and fix the lions, and maybe have a civilization on the planet their resting on offer to help with their lions and help fight for their planet if they help them with major problems on their own planet and make those problems like bonding exercises for the paladins except their put in real danger, and they bond as a team and express their feelings. That would have made a good few episodes to not completely focus on earth and relax and cope with their feelings. And not to rely on Voltron so much for once, even before I saw your video's about these problems I noticed this problem myself and majorly disliked it. I wanted to see failures happen with Voltron, this is an intergalactic war we're talking about for Pete's sake. Not everything works out in your favor in war if you're trying to do what's right. Take a look at the American revolution for crying out loud! America lost more battles and soldiers but look at us now! how many battles you win doesn't matter in war, what matters is how much your willing to give up for what you believe in no matter if you win or lose. Heres an alternate version that could have also worked out as well! The Galran ships destroy part of the lions and they can't move and the Galra fighters are in the process of capturing them, the team thinks of a plan to get rid of the Galran fighters and allows themselves to be captured as well as the lions and as soon as the time is right they execute the plan, maybe have a paladin or supporting character nearly die, maybe even kill off a supporting character, kill off Romelle,(Romelle is the chick you keep calling Rebecca) she's useless anyway. Romelle just supports(keep in mind the Galra destroyed her home planet and isn't even trying to help them paladins in any way) the paladins and is a nuisance when they decide which supporting character(s) go with who. And ofc they escape and fix the lions and bond and express their emotions in the process of all of this. thank you for taking your time to read this!

Introverted Out gets me every time I hear them say that
Introverted Out KLANCE..!
@@nellbug katie plus Lance
Little Nell yea we all know Katie/pidge x lance is a cute couple ;3
😍😍😍 I really didn’t like this season because of the TWO EPISODE LONG FIGHT SCENE and the characters development for lance that we were promised but never got, but when y’all listed off the many good things about the season, i really remembered my love for the show. hopefully the last season ever will give us some Lance that we’ve been asking for, and a bit more relationship between the characters.
I feel like I'm the only one that actually liked the 2 episode long fight scene 😂😂😂
Y’all are gifts honesty. You guys are honestly the best and I’m super out of it. You guys make allergies feel okay.
I agree with a lot of things you said but one thing I wish you mentioned is how Keith treats Lance in this season.
Ahhh. I subbed to you guys because you were literally the only Pidge stans on RUclips and also because you ship Plance. I stayed for the humor and the amazing analysis!! Keep this great content coming!!
'' 4 wasted seasons '' OMFG SAME, exactly what I thought.
I agree Lance need so much more screen time and he deserves it. I'm not actually salty about Alurrance, I just hope they do it well and its not a rebound from Lotor or anything like that. I also hope they explore Shiro and Adam more, as it felt a little dry
Is this-
Your normal voice, no screeching??
Jk, Love your content and can’t wait for more :)
You know, Alfor wasn't much better. He built 5 lions not knowing that they could combine into one big mecha.
Heck, he built the black lion and did not know he built in a face in that lion?
It shows that humans are just like the Alteans. They have no idea what they are doing...
of course he knows what he was doing, because FUCKING MAGIIIIIIICCCCCC
god I hate this show XD
Rather have him lose a leg because shiro is a thing
Shakiel Taylor yeah

Thanks so much!! 💖
Oh thank fuck
I'm happy that this is an actual review and not just salt. Been drowning in salt the past few months x'DD
I thought about how voltron feels very episodic without being episodic in the worst possible way.
Yes! I agree with every single one of your points!
Because of you i started EEEW every 2 seconds

I agree with all of your points! This video is very well put together and makes me appreciate the good scenes!
wowee I just formed a third brain cell
Quality reviewing content 👏🏼👏🏼
studies show that AvoRabo videos DO in fact aid in cell regeneration. more on this at eight
When season 8 comes out i’m gonna come here and laugh the pain away.
I honestly can’t wait for season 8 >< but I do think they rushed to end the series,*sigh*oh well.I think your review is sooooox10000 accurate,I can relate to what u said/I agree! You guys are amazing honestly:D(also i hope plance becomes canon in the next season lol)
“Dreamworks is heading in a better detection” * The Dragon Prince is released * FUC-
I agree with so many points to this. You particularly hit all the points that I personally didn't like about the season as well lol
Everyone's screaming about the new rwby trailer today while I'm just shouting "NEW AVO RABO VIDEOOOOOOOOOOOO"
So what you’re saying is Voltron is great without Voltron.
Hmmmmm... 🤔🤔🤔
Also I agree with you that Atlas was ridiculous.
I think if you keep this content up you’ll go somewhere. Be something. I think you guys will be big.
also that obvious fake-out death near the end was PAINFUL
I like Voltron but I think that some episodes/parts are forced/pushed much. Like the Lance and Allura... I MEAN CLEARLY ITS PLANCE
I also loved Voltron's new wings and I'm disappointed that everybody ignored this
Also, also, if people focused on the season itself instead of just focus on the ships, I'm sure they would really enjoy it
Last thought: I loved how you were all serious and then just went "but that freaking robot Shiro made with his freaking mind!" 😁
thanks so much! glad you enjoyed it ♥️
So reviews bad for sharing honest opinion about how lack luster the season was.
It's amazing how a few people can change the way you think of one thing in a viewer perspective
something i noticed was some of the most tolerable or enjoyable episodes are the ones directed by eugene lee and tim hedrick.
Keep making great and awesome content! 👍🏻✌🏻️
I'm hype for season 8 fuck
also uuuhhh hey your channel sparked my fascination for mechas and voltron again so I enjoyed catching up to the end of this season so yeah cool thanks. lookin forward to more content
I love how this is serious and the voltobs are anything but serious 😂
I will be watching season 8 to give dreamworks one last chance.
agree 100%
Now here comes *season eight*
i saw the title and i thought *drag em* hahaha jp I love y’all and the show !
Please tell me you guys are gonna do this series for season 8!!!!
I think you’ll be shooketh
Season 7 aka Hunk finally gets some respect by the writers
I freaking love your vids
Wait but how is that scene where Lance defends his sister not growth?
there's a difference between growth and a character arc! character growth just means that a character has had a Point A in the beginning of the story and a Point B that they finish at.
If I remember right (which im probably not my memory sucks) you said we got nothing from lance this season so I just thought that scene was really touching how we was gonna sacrifice himself for his sister. again sorry
don't apologize! comments like yours help us think things through we hadn't considered before! and yes, we loved that scene too 😊
I CHOSE THIS OVER SHANES JAKE PAUL VIDEO XDD
glad ur priorities are straight
“I’m actually looking forward to the next season”
Oh my god you have no idea...
This is a beautiful Video! I love it!
I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING OMG especially the end!!
however shiro is still my fav boi
Honestly I did think this season wasn’t that good because it was truly just only about getting back to earth. This season just created a plot for this episodes and tied it up in the same season, due to this the creators just added random things into the plot because it is truly boring. Because they usually focus on the main goal and people rather than actually focusing on the people they created. As you said the characters literally make the plot or story
This was my opinion on this season
Btw love your opinions on the series.
Steven Universe has too many filler episodes.
Voltron has too little.
:0
I’ve watched all the Voltorbs and their honestly great. Will you guys maybe do other shoes like what you do with Voltron in the future? May I recommend Over the Garden Wall?
so glad to hear you like them! we definitely intend to do more in the future-animation is our Zest for Life
Have your voltorb videos have been uploaded out of order? Also did previous videos get deleted?
I've only watched patriarchy and marmalade videos so far.
hi there! sorry about that, we initially started voltorb as a funny every-now-and-then thing and only did a whole series for season 7! marmalade and patriarchy are out of order as far as show chronology goes, but other than that everything Is in its place and nothing's been deleted! thanks for the question!
@@AvoRabo Aah ok, thank you for responding. Love your content.
Ayeeee hope dreamworks waters our plance while we wait for season 8
I actually really liked the earth episodes and I liked the final episodes and enjoyed the fight a lot (besides Shiro's new Voltron which made me laugh). Overall I loved this season.
Was just recommended this - lovely review. Agree with a lot of it. Keith and Hunk are my babies, also I think I relate to Keith when it comes to distance - but I legit compliment people a lot so it's weird lol.
Also I liked the episode where that Druid was trying to kill Keith. Some good horror fuel.
Keep Up The Good Work~!
My entire mind through season 7: Plance? PLANCE?! *PLAAANCE?!?*
Have u seen those season 8 leaks??? Pidge lookin like a whole snack thank q veri much.
Honestly Scotties find a way
No “bury your gays” or Adam mention in this video?
That’s a different vid I’m afraid
I'd watch you guys talk about it, cause it's an important topic that needs to be discussed. I have my own strong feelings on it, but I'd like to hear yours.
thank god a video that criticizes Voltron without bitching how Klance isnt canon
Shiro doesn’t count cuz he a damsel in destress 24/7-
MOOD
Simon at 0:36 makes me smile so much
You guys were totes on the mark though, some of the best moments, even in the original series, are when they get out of their lions and simply say "You talkin' shit? S Q U A R E UP!"
I'd love to see some voltorb for the previous seasons
Yeah, I didn’t like the giant robot made out of Atlas either. I feel like that was a last minute decision. Also, Romelle needs more character development though I love her personality. Really wish Lance had more development as well. The whole “seventh wheel” comment he said should be explored but with one last season to go, who knows what they’ll wrap up and won’t?
can you do a series of watching s8 like you did with s7?
“ We have a lot of thots on it “
Thank you for making my day.
i actually got into Voltron this January through a friend and I stopped watching in the middle of Season 3 after Shiro left. I got hecka bored and Keith pissed me off ( I love him now tho ) but then right before season 7 another one of my friends convinced me to finish the show. it’s good ig I mean I honestly like the first 2 seasons everything after that was meh
after the first two seasons the writers had no idea what they were doing. that's not a roast--im pretty sure they've said that at some point
I’m fucking 24 years old and I can’t even make one video with a fraction of the editing quality you guys have.
Thanks for making me realize I have a long way to go with video editing along with addressing my fucking existential crisis XD
we're glad we can appeal to you! sorry for the crisis, but good luck on future endeavors!
Great video as always ❤
Please never stop inserting that image of Saruhiko when you do the tsk noise lol
Me and my friend were watching this and this made us question the ENTIRE show xD
The city destruction element is pretty pg.
You put all of my frustration into words what the fuck.
am i an idiot who doesn't know how to search on youtube properly or are there no videos covering season 5? did they get taken down or something?
