I don’t think we’ll get two GotG rides and two rides with randomized retro music in the same area of the park. Plus CRW isn’t good…yeah it’s a decent rollercoaster but it’s basically the equivalent of Paris’ Rockin’Rollercoaster/Iron man ride…just a giant room with screens with projected animation that’ll look dated in 5 years. They had the technology to have the ride vehicle turn to face different set pieces like they do in HM or Rise of the Resistance and they didn’t do it here. It’s just an empty ride that doesn’t belong in EPCOT Compare it to the theming and experience you get with Mission Break Out!, MBO is the better ride. I think the ride AC is getting is the Flight of Passage/Quinn Jet ride that’s taking forever.
Never. Disney is getting broken up under antitrust and that means bye bye Avengers Campus due to royalties. Also means no more Galaxy's Edge. Like anyone will miss Disney owning Marvel or Lucasfilm. I look forward to the triumphant return of Tower of Terror.
I think the boats are the e-ticket. The ride vehicles look like Shanghai Pirates. It looks like it just goes in and out of the show building like small world.
With Avatar being mentioned with Disneyland Forward, the first thing that I thought of was the land gap between Toontown & Galaxy's Edge. That would transition from Pandora, to Galaxy's Edge & the path would let you out to the D.L Gates in Critter Country. That is what I came up with. Hello From Phoenix Arizona 🌡 🔥
What a busy week for Disneyland news! I would definitely rather Pandora in Disneyland than California Adventure mainly because the Redwood Creek area is the last area supposed to represent the natural beauty of California and it would be incredibly weird to tear it down to make fake plants especially sandwiching it between two other parts including a hotel that are themed to the California redwoods.
Yes, imagine standing with your back to the Matterhorn, looking at the sub ride. Also, the Submarine ride costs almost twice as much to operate than any other ride and it doesn't handle that many riders per hour. I'll bet they'd like to get rid of it, and shrink down the Autopia ride when it goes Electic. This could fit there. On the other hand, it would be a HUGE draw for a new land (3rd gate) like Disney Forward.
I could be in the Nemo/autopia area where Pandora/Avatar ride would be like a jungle cruise trip ride. Then they could also use Launch Bay into a showcase or indoor ride.
I dont see how this fits in DL or CAA - unless they bury the DL backlot and put Pandora on top. I think this is intended for the Toy Story lot and they create an immersive sky tram or monorail option (where you dont see the City of Anaheim) that takes you there. Maybe you get there via a spaceport in Tomorrowland to go discover “another planet ppl call Pandora.”
Disney Forward will have small structure rides throughout the new land. The killing issue is sound & lights coming from the new land, all because is the Anaheim neighborhood is next door which will be super close to housing & apts
I wonder if the boat ride starts inside the area to the right. Maybe start as a dark ride that comes out from under the waterfall into the open area? It looks like the water splits towards the bottom which would allow boats to pass under the water and out of the mountain?
I think they'll either make pandora a 3rd gate at toy story or connect it to Critter country or redwood creek challenge and extend it into the respective disneyland forward area. 3 opportunities which would fit best?
If they can transition your from Critter Country to Galaxy Edge they can transition you from the front of DCA to Hollywood Studios area. It only takes portal holes for transitioning. Universal will be doing transitioning portals through out Universal Epic
The immediate vibe I got was that this would have to be a replacement for Nemo... but you'd have to get rid of all of Autopia and not do the electric cars.
You are right, and that is why they are just going to make a new Soaring movie and called it "Soaring over Pandora", and that will be the new Avatar Experience.
There's the footpath behind Grizzly River Rapids for an example. Under the Lift Hill. 5:33 Start building Monorail Trains and casting the Beamway segments. That's what will take time to build.
Awesome breakdown, but I think it is most likely going in the 8-10 acre DF expanded Hollywood land. The High rocks are covering the show building and Mission breakout.
I don't want to complain, but does every new ride/ land have to be based on IP? Sure a lot of "classic" attractions were based off movies, but many of them aren't... Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, autopia, the list goes on. I'm not saying something Avatar would be out of place, but I'm just wondering if we'll ever get a new land or attraction that isn't IP based
Hi Dave, Great video as always.. Everybody seems to forget the words ADD CAPACITY so a re-scin doesn't achieve that. Disneyland forward gives them the opportunity to start sooner then tearing down and re building!
Not only will it never be built, but Pandora will eventually go away in AK after Disney is broken up. I plan to replace it with Beastly Kingdom as originally planned after I take over Disney.
The ocean in the background - one of the things I'm most impressed with DCA, Pixar Pier, is how convincingly it feels like you're one wall away from an ocean view. But that's more about the cultural expectations than optical illusions!
I think it could potentially be in/next to tomorrow land or autopia. Isn’t avatar putting human bodies in aliens/other beings. That’s pretty futuristic to me.
My guess, is this is just a look inside a massive indoor screen ride. Yes there will be water, and some animatronics perhaps, but maybe this land is actually just all a massive screen ride? And the boats will be like pirates? Maybe a few small drops and such. And a walk through kids play area with water and such. I’m the odd one out though I don’t like it. I wish we could get something like Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disneyland.
My thoughts exactly As far as monorail not fitting in…. They can make it work Monorail can transcend time and space Or can be hidden behind those big plant and rock facades
Agree with all your speculation. Avatar in the DL Forward expansion property makes most sense. However, I was thinking about Tomorrowland: If you remove the internal figure-8 monorail track; if you lower the level of the water in the sub lagoon to where it can become the Shanghai boat system track and build tall show building/mountain range on top; if you turn Autopia into a partially indoor attraction (think old Test Track) running somehow behind or below the Avatar show building; suddenly you have a fantastic reuse of the lagoon/Autopia area.
This is close to a thought I had. I'm more ok losing the subs this time knowing a replacement is coming. There is nothing out there saying Autopia can't be modified, or the Monorail too. I really should do my own video with a detailed idea I have that includes part of what you're thinking.
I like your idea🤩😅 however why do they have to remove monorail I feel it still fits in it’s cool being able to ride in it and look down into the lands and it adds soo much kinetic energy to the parks Pandora is no different an Ip in reality than Nemo is ? Both are imaginative creative places/ stories-whereas or although Nemo definitely didn’t fit the Tomorrowland theme but it did still work- guests still enjoy it & didn’t question a monorail being there Avatar and Pandora definitely does fit!!
I share your cautious optimism! A lot will depend on what happens at D23--concrete plans, or more "maybe one day" stuff. But I'm hopeful. I'm also glad they don't seem like they're going to reskin Grizzly Peak--maybe I'm in a minority, but that's one of my favorite places to visit, just to enjoy the vibes, and remember summers spent in the San Bernadino mountains.
Avatar Experience looks like it could fit where Nemo , Autopia and the now closed motorboats (maybe also Star Wars launch bay) attraction are. with it taking place in the 'future' that fits in with with Tomorrowland. The monorail would be a problem.
I've heard a possible idea is that part of Disneyland Forward includes turning the current bus drop off between the two parks into theme park space. If it gets approved they could use Hollywood backlot and the bus area for Avatar
I think this makes the most sense. I've also heard this and the same source mentioned a boat ride with the Shanghai Pirates ride system which looks suspiciously like the boats in the concept art.
I am the thoughts that the actual results of the recent board vote will give us new attractions and possible lands but with the attitude of procedures that have been used successfully to build up the Disneyland experience, and that would also include the end or total redo of the reservation and Lightning Lane procedures.
I was thinking about using some ideas from the past about things in the future for electrifying Autopia and that would be using electric motors for power but not using on board batteries because right now there really isn't a reliable battery system that is going to provide the power and run time to safely use on a public ride. The thing I was thinking of why couldn't a a system be used that picked up the power source for the onboard electric motors like was talked about in the past of what would happen in our future where you would have a car that switched from some sort of internal combustion engine to an electric motor for economical and ecological power that picked up it's power source from the roadway itself. I think it would be fairly easy to safely put a system like that in the current ride area, and it would use a traffic coordinator that would give announcements of upcoming cities or places of interest for the operators of the (fictional) travelers.
I would expect them to use the Shanghai Pirates' tech on the boat ride. Controlled motion boats. Ride starts and ends outdoors, main show inside the building with projections and animatronics.
Honestly my best guess is that this could take over the Grizzly Peak area (since the area is already hooked up to water). But those pedestrian bridges make me think Disneyland Forward. Exciting stuff!
To me (btw im an architect 😉) this new land coul easily fit in the tomorrowland lagoon area. Re-amagining the following: Autopia ( electric cars means no noise), finding nemo submarine to river raft, carrousel of progress to an immersive attraction. You got water, plenty of vegetation and the rocks or mountains from the concept art go well with the matterhorn area. That would speed up construction and continue with Walts vision evolution of the park, and specifically about the land of tomorrow.
What if they took the old motorboat cruise area, as you mentioned, AND made her electric autopia into a drive-thru portion (take the boats to the cars, then a driving tour…) Tomorrowland could be future earth, leading to the spaceport where you would depart to pandora…just a thought.
They may put it in the area taken up by the remnants of the old Motor Boat Cruise. If so, hopefully they put more money in it than the cruise to Gummy Glen got!
Love your insight, David! I truly hope this lands with Disneyland Forward IF it happens.... It would be a horrible addition to Disneyland and doesn't fit at DCA.
FRESHBAKED videos every day... 💪 Imagine you walk to the end of critter country you have splash on the left, winnie the pooh on the right and front and center a river with boats that transport you to pandora onto the new disneyland forward site.
Turn Autopia into Cyber trucks without any center 🦮 guide rails , where you can Choose Your own Path and make turns and transitions between the two track routes. Or another one to a Bridge Over harbor Boulevard and over to the Pandora Area -the old Grand Hotel they imploded for expansion area by Interstate 5 near Garden Walk - You can Drive over Harbor Boulevard. in Autopia cars To the New Pandora Land... 34:28
What if the entire Avatar experience is indoors? Could it be a walk-through AND ride-through (the boats) that fits within, for example, the Innoventions building? My money is on Disney Forward, but I feel like they *could* do this on a much smaller scale than, for example, changing the entire Grizzly Peak area.
My guess would be a new attraction and this scale that we’re seeing would be something that is similar to how the imagineers did the hanger set on Rise. Thoughts?
Looking at the map . . . . I say . . . dig a tunnel under Disneyland drive that you walk thru at the end of Critter Country and Pandora takes over the Mickey and Friends parking structure. Unless something coming up has already claimed that space.
What if the left smaller building is the soaring building. The shape of the front root looks like the roof. The marquee above even looks like a glider.
I don’t see this as a grizzly/mermaid/soarin replacement for avatar. This does absolutely nothing to increase capacity. How about the bus loop, Disney has publicly said avatar will be in DL then the next day DCA. Perhaps because the bus loop space gives them the option to add it it to either park???
Remember, concept art always makes a space look larger than it actually is. The humans are always smaller in scale to the landscape around them. Look at the concept art for Gallaxy's Edge, or even Splash Mountain.
With Anaheim Approval, they have the time to develop plans and solid Art for planning. Another Dick Nunis "lost Weekend" with corkboard and watercolors sketching the first Disneyland Plot Plan.
This looks like an overlay of the Finding Nemo Lagoon minus the monorail of course. The boats travel opposite of the subs. The ocean in the background seems to be around where the old motor boat ride was.
I could see, frozen, going towards the Disneyland expansion plot for Disneyland forward, and the DCA plot being used for something similar to the Simpsons, or in that realm. I could see the toy story parking lot, possibly becoming a standalone, mini park and encompassing nature films of Disney’s Canon, such as lion king and Pandora
They would never do Simpsons because no one under the age of 30 has ever watched that. The old parking lot is an exact footprint of Frozen land almost as if they were testing the sight lines from the other park as a test for the parking lot- it’s just too precise of a match to be an accident.
Another thing to note is there now charging extra for that particular panel that they would announce something like a future tomorrowland or Pandora making me think they have big plans for that panel. 14:03 as for Buena Vista St. there’s also the possibility they just get rid of queen of Vista Street and encapsulate Buena Vista St. , the back lot, the theater and take over part if not all of the bus loops. That would definitely be big enough however I do agree. I don’t think that’s a possibility. 17:49 personally I think they could get plans up relatively quickly, I also think that while I don’t think they need need to be threatened by universal I do think they feel the pressure on how quickly they are progressing epic universe, and most definitely has the funds and the power to get a quality land out quickly Especially with some old imagers, I’ll be at not directly involved, but on the sidelines mentoring new imagineers. I also think Disneyland forward is far bigger of a plan than they let on and I think they own a lot more land than they claim they do or at least have the ability and money to acquire The land they need. Especially if they increase the size of the eastern Gateway parking lot they could demolish Mickey and friends and use that as further expansion…… sorry I was possessed by the blue sky fairy for a minute 😂.
Don't get rid of Little Mermaid. I waited over 2 decades for them to finally give her her due. That movie changed the corse for Disney animation. Their movies sucked while I was a kid and then they finally started a better corse when it came out. It was the Frozen of the late 80s.
Not enough space in the motor boat cruise area for a ride, unless it was closed off and put into a show building (two stories). Pooh is a poorly done ride - see Japan's version. Critter Countries time is limited now that Splash is gone. There's nothing to carry it anymore. Redwood Creek area is fairly small and might also need a two story building which would block hotel guest views. That combined with the hotel, and other rides around it would make construction as well as equipment to power the ride / pumps / water treatment etc... a bear to deal with and maintain. I'm guessing they do an early expansion across Disneyland Dr behind Incredicoaster as the best spot.
Im in the grizzly peak camp as i think it saves Disney a lot of cost simply using the existing pipes & plumbing currently in place as opposed to breaking ground to route water from city lines through the park. Also, I believe buidling a new water ride would present many challenges today in 2024 as far as permits in regards to water consumption, the added cost to the city & tax payers and water efficiency/ waste complaints by taxpayers/ politicians. Grizzly Peak doesn't make the park money and a refurbished Avatar in DCA would cost less and make more they can report to shareholders
Still want to know when we're getting that extra ride in Avengers Campus they've teased forever. I want our Cosmic Rewind!!
Most likely will get news at D23 hopefully
I don’t think we’ll get two GotG rides and two rides with randomized retro music in the same area of the park.
Plus CRW isn’t good…yeah it’s a decent rollercoaster but it’s basically the equivalent of Paris’ Rockin’Rollercoaster/Iron man ride…just a giant room with screens with projected animation that’ll look dated in 5 years. Being that the subs don’t submerge too awfully far, I could see them using the subtract for above water boats.
Pandora Cruise. Are you ready for the back side of the Way of Water?
I hope you're wrong. Id be really upset if they remove Soarin. I listen to that ride score when Im at work wishing I was in Disneyland.
I could be in the Nemo/autopia area where Pandora/Avatar ride would be like a jungle cruise trip ride. Then they could also use Launch Bay into a showcase or indoor ride.
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Love these long running discussions, perfect for commute home!!
Respectful of the fun in figuring it all out... I can'r see them touching Grizzly Peak. It ties too nicely with the Grand Californian Hotel :)
The main problem I could see is that it could possibly cause a lot of noise messing with guests at the hotel

I'm not saying something Avatar would be out of place, but I'm just wondering if we'll ever get a new land or attraction that isn't IP based
Tomorrow land Theater _is_ the Wonderbra Theater area near Small world. Avatar could be in Adventureland Boats area? Or in Long Beach? ⛱️ 19:51
Innoventions, Nemo Lagoon, Autopia, old Motor Boat area. Reroute monorail.
I think Iger’s use of the word “possible” means it’s ALL about April’s Anaheim vote on Disneyland Forward. A vote yes means Disney will build it.
Thank you for this analysis!
Iger has mentioned that the Disney Parks need to increase capacity. Tearing out rides and/or repurposing them doesn’t do that.
Pretty sure taking out subs and adding a Shanghai Pirates ride system will boost up capacity alone.
Hi Dave, Great video as always.. Everybody seems to forget the words ADD CAPACITY so a re-scin doesn't achieve that. Disneyland forward gives them the opportunity to start sooner then tearing down and re building!
What is “a re-scin”?? I tried to look it up and got nothing.
@WindowtotheMagic ya I spelled it wrong. I'm glad you're so good as to catch it. Maybe someday we'll be as good as you.
16:39 lol @ Kenan Thompson in an Autopia car in Pandora. Clever reference to how he is in the real Epic Universe HTTyD concept art.

How about the bus loop, Disney has publicly said avatar will be in DL then the next day DCA. Perhaps because the bus loop space gives them the option to add it it to either park???
Boats Look like Shanghai Pirates Boat ride technology
If they want to get rid of the subs and autopia, they could replace them with this and just retheme the sub lagoon,
Yesss the og intro
Maybe take over grizzly peak, redwood creek challenge and soarin?
Not happening.
“Creative inspiration for a possible new destination” sounds like a line from a Disney song.
This is such a well thought out video… Thanks for sharing and look forward to hearing more of your perspectives
I wish they would add Tron Light Cycle to Tomorrowland. It would give Tomorrowland a good face lift and with the new Tron coming out it could work.
This looks like an overlay of the Finding Nemo Lagoon minus the monorail of course. The boats travel opposite of the subs. The ocean in the background seems to be around where the old motor boat ride was.
Ocean may very well be an elaborate video wall or other optical illusion
😮😮 I'm confused. If it goes into the "Forward" area, is it part of a 3rd Gate, a completely new park?
If it’s a third gate, that makes it a new park. So… yes.
Might include Grizzly Peak and raft ride. 7:04
Retheme Grizzly into an Advatar Adventure Ride.
It absolutely is! The building on the left is shaped like CA Soarin’ too
They’ve actually discovered Pandora and are selling tickets. I tried buying them online but so far they’re unobtanium.
I think downtown Disney will be going away in the future at some point to expand Disneyland and DCA. My opinion of course
Disneyland forward will mimic toon town height & rides
There is no expansion happening and there is no Simpsons or Frozen or Pandora coming. Disney is getting broken up.
……I’m sure the boat ride goes into the SHOW BUILDING disguised as a mountain, with waterfall.
Don't get rid of Little Mermaid. I waited over 2 decades for them to finally give her her due. That movie changed the corse for Disney animation. Their movies sucked while I was a kid and then they finally started a better corse when it came out. It was the Frozen of the late 80s.
Autopia with Cybertruck vehicles? Wireless charger and At (least partially)least Self Driving cars kids can direct on different routes. 15:20
Nemo and the boat ride area.
Building on the right looks like Nemo. Just purely for imagination.
I have loved the Disney parks my whole life. I try not to get my expectations up too high since 90% of their blue sky stuff goes nowhere.
It’s in a building. The background is fake like runaway railway in toon town with projections. Boats are trackless vehicles.
