My head canon is that Gore & Presilla were the original residents and Constance & George were the last. So in the first marriage the husband kills the wife and in the last the wife kills the husband. “It’s like poetry. They rhyme”
I live in North Carolina and I'm planning my first trip to Disneyland for later this year. Also I want to send all my love and prayers to the people in Southern California affected by the tragic fires.
Just went to HM on New Years Day and noticed that one of the cast iron panels that support the balcony on the side of the mansion that faces the new queue is severely bent outward! I may have been damaged during the construction, but it looks really bad. I really hope that Disney knows about this and repairs it!
I really need them to go that far with the bride. Full tilt. Constance Hatchaway will always be in the stretching room portrait. She was never meant originally to be in the attic. Beating heart bride was a partially thought out place holder. The projection of "Constance" And the pearl necklace portraits were "cute" but the bride could be so much better. Do remember folks, every HM ride has a different storyline (Paris, WDW, TDLR ).
I do hope the bring back a beating heart effect. I got the Magic Band+ when they were new and I thought it was cool when you were leaving the Mansion it'd light up red and pulse like the beating heart. Just a cool easter egg they threw in for fun.
Hello David Mr. Freshbaked: I have been watching your videos now for quite a while and like how informative and helpful they are, we went to Disneyland three times and are ready to go back sometimes in 2025 specially for this celebration, I can't wait to see and finally have an animatronic Walter Disney to talk about his dream and it is finally happening yipppeee~~ Thanks for keeping us up to date with your videos, hope to get to see you at Disneyland sometime this year and meet you in person, we are North Floridian residents and get to visit WDW as often as we can. Like the HM jersey. Stay well and happy to hear you are safe from the fires. Tell your daughter and wife hello too; Patty and Mitch Frederick from Madison, Florida
As my adult son and I were walking through Disneyland the night after Christmas, we were debating our favorite rides. For us, the top 3 are the Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and Haunted Mansion, but we decided Haunted Mansion (whether normal or nightmare) is #1. We like the thrill of Space Mountain, and Matterhorn has great sentimental value to me, as I remember doing with my dad in 1975 (back when before everyone had a separate seat) and then my kids for the last 25 years, but Haunted Mansion is tops in our book. As a side note, we really like the final old west town scene in Paris. It is such a cool twist for Phantom Manor. :)
This makes a lot of sense. This area is about the same size as used for the Blue Fairy pepper's ghost effect on Pinnochio. Those pillars could be designed to hide a 45-degree angle mirror.
Since they mentioned the physical candelabra with a projection effect I'm wondering if they're going to use the Kylo Ren lightsaber illusion from Rise of the Resistance.
Really excited to see this new bride! Hope the window bit ends up looking really cool and better than before with the falling back from the heartbeat bride to the graveyard, which I personally didn't get as a kid 😅, and even better than the ax bride.
I wonder what the bride would look like in real life, will it be Constance Hatchaway as an animatronic, or will it be a different character? As for the Hitchhiking Ghosts mirror projections, I wonder if the ghosts will do the same things they do with people at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Thx david i do like the new bride pic in the leota shop and i like heart beating bride i like the constance hatchaway story thier are alot of things in the mansion that say constance so cant wait to see how it unfolds will be watching you future video on this
There's so much fascinating lore with the Haunted Mansion backstory. It would be great if the new queue area had custom statues and decorative elements that specifically tied into the mythology and piqued interest and discussion. At least some of it like the fountain in Magnolia Park is off-the-shelf and doesn't further the Haunted Mansion story. Maybe it can be replaced over time, a bit each year, if there's a budget issue.
I believe they'll be going with the Gore storyline because of the lighthouse and ocean painted on the safe in the garden. Might have been a slight change from the locked chest in the attic to the safe in the garden that she discovers
Do you think with the new bride holding the candelabra that it is insinuated that it is her in the endless hallway? And we just can’t see her until Leota does her thing.
I was kind of wondering if the Jack in the Box animiatronics are palatalized to be easier to remove and reinstall. If that is the case, is it possible that the bride and window set up already palatalized for easy switching seasonally?
I still think rhe story of the Mansion puts us in the Mansion by investigating and that's why he is the ghost host and how he invited us in. Thinking we can't leave. We do get pushed out the window maybe by her but we don't die we escape thru the cemetery only to be haunted by hitchhiking ghosts. Then they lady on the stairwell leaving invites us to come back!! My take on it from 52 years of riding this iconic attraction. Can't wait to see the new scene!
This is a random comment but i love seeing your hug me Mickey in the back ground. When I first saw this in a video of yours 8 or so years ago, I asked.my sister to get me 1 who was traveling at the time as we are based in the UK so gettimg to the parks is difficult. It now hugs my bed head. All because I saw yours 🙂.
Disney’s audience has shown they are willing to accept darker characters and themes nowadays (e.g. Villains land) that they now have tacit permission to have darker storylines. I hope this is the case.
I would suspect that it’ll go back to something closer to the beating heart bride, I don’t think they’ll add any overt story elements like the whole Captain Gore thing. I would suspect it’s more to remove a mass murderer from the attraction and make her simply a ghost bride.
While I do agree, I'd counter with Disney being rooted in darker storylines... Dumbo, Bambi, and Pinnochio for example... I think Disney is just ready to pick up that torch again now that Universal is gearing up with Dark Universe in competition.
Just saw a great video from The Entertainment Guy talking about RUclips and Copyright. Would be interesting to get your take on it. He takes about Disneyland at about 14:40 in the video.
David, if you think about it the reason your Doombuggy turns and backs down the incline, as if you were falling out the window, has a very practical purpose. If your buggy went down that steep incline any otherv way, you would feel like you could fall out of it. By turning backwards it cradles you comfortably as you decend the steep incline. Perhaps its original purpose was to tie into the falling out the window. Who knows? This could be an interesting thing to look into. What do you think?
Wouldn’t it be cool if the Haunted Mansion was curated by Guillermo Del Toro his life long passion. im sure it would thrill the world. knock your socks off 😅
03:27 I remember @OffhandDisney reporting in a previous video that in WDI's video showing off the Tiana animatronics in April of last year, there was a brief look at a life sized Candlestick Man that looked to be in the works. This may be wishful thinking, but I'm so curious if the Candlestick Man will also be joining the new bride in the attic! Much like the bat in the cage was brought to the Endless Hallway/ Corridor of Doors.
i saw that as well, but if i recall, that was a distorted perception of the candleman. It was not lifesize, but actually the same candleman we see in the ride today.
@@freshbakedpresents Oh, interesting! Rewatching the video, it looks much larger to me than it does on the ride. But you're right it wasn't exactly life sized.
This is what I read / heard. What's going in the attic is an animatronic bride with a projected face - similar to HB ghost style. BUT - it will also be presented as a Pepper's Ghost effect. Similar to blue fairy in Pinocchio. Those two post most likely is a frame to house the box that will be where the bride animatronic actually will be. Facing the angled glass window - so you see the lit animatronic with the face in the new window. That's my take And going down to the graveyard is not us falling IMO. It fits your narrative but I don't think that's it. Frankly from an engineering standpoint it's for safety. The steepness of the angle wouldn't be safe for you to go face forward. If you recall the Ron Howard audio story about the HM and ghost host that appeared when the HM opened. They exit the attic and climb down the trees and plants on the walls into the graveyard. So there's lots of ways to map stories into the downward movement. As far as story - even the HB ghost doesn't have one (I'm not counting the latest Disney movie). Let's see what happens when it opens ...
Having got a preview of the new Beating Heart Bride on Instagram, I have to say that I still like my idea better. Said idea involves Constance with a beating red heart at first, but as she shows the hatchet and says her deathly "vows", she morphs into a hatchet-wielding rotting corpse (as a reference to the original, 1969 Opening Day Beating Heart Bride) with a physical beating heart seen through her ribcage, all using an animatronic-with-projection effect, similar to the Hatbox Ghost's. I've stated this idea in (I think it was) a video by Offhand Disney about half-a-year ago.
I am thinking the clues might have been there for a while. In March 2024, i purchased the new Bride painting by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. The piece is called "The Bride Reborn". Jasmine has previously done a rendition of the bride and of course it had the axe (Constance). Curiously this new version did not have the axe but has a candle. I was wondering why the new rendition had this change.
Just had family go to Disneyland and they said they stopped so many times on the ride, i assume due to the easier access of ADA. They said it made the ride not quite the experience it used to be.
I think that they are just updating constant hatch away but like a new outfit and I don’t think that they will change her story or anything from what I remember seeing her last years I went on the ride with my family btw why would they change her story and make her the villain she seems like a good hero though
I've never been a fan of Constance Hatchaway-it's too goofy and out of step with the rest of the ride. At the same time, I think it would be inaccurate to call Captain Blood the "original" story of the HM. More like a rejected story, since it was never actually part of the ride. I'm not sure I want that storyline layered onto the ride any more than Constance. The great thing about the Bleeding Heart bride was that she was a complete mystery: we were free to imagine a story, the same way we do with so many of the other characters. Taking the mystery out takes away a lot of the fun.
I know this might be sacrilegious, but I really hope she’s a limited motion figure. If they throw a A-1000 in there or a Tiana style animatronic it just won’t fit it will ruin the entire mansion for me
Hopefully they go back to animatronics as the main character focus in rides. It looks so gimmicky when they use cheap virtual looking techniques like the clone troopers like in rise of the resistance.
So.....who else has seen that projection flop of a new blank faced picture of the new Bride????? Im livid! They couldve done SO MUCH with Constance, make it like the new movie but this new...idk even what to call it, its so BORING the face doesnt move, its a static PROJECTION IMAGE! Personally I really do enjoy Constance and the black widow bride story and much like when they (in my opinion) severely downgraded the Davy Jones scene in Pirates replacing with the simple mirror trick (that I could very easily recreate at home on a rather low budget). If the only change was replacing the projection face with a fluid modern animatronic but keeping that story and dialogue, I would 1000% support it, but why demote her and take away her speaking lines and replace her with a much simpler effect?

Do you think with the new bride holding the candelabra that it is insinuated that it is her in the endless hallway? And we just can’t see her until Leota does her thing.
I don't think so, no. I actually think the candelabra is meant to replace the light source of the beating heart.

@nicolew5543 I think both viewpoints are valid and not at odds at all. 😊
I am not sure, Disney has also removed a lot of things for being too dark. It will be interesting to see how kids respond to the villains area.
They added the Candleman too!
The window story is not Constance but the captain’s wife pushed as Dave said
Good stuff Dave

I think they should build a dark carnival/New England town around the HM. Based on. " Something wicked this way comes"
