    the best description I've seen so far of Avengers ETicket v1 was that it was Flight of Passage + Dumbo. The Quinjet we ride in to start with would "explode" and disappear (like the Cosmic Rewind pre-show), allowing the Soarin' like seats we're on to fan out, like spreading your fingers (✋> 🖐) and letting each "finger"/"jetpack" control individually how high or low it went (like Dumbo or AstroOrbiter)

    I think Disney California Adventure should keep its name. Yes it’s not the same theme as it originally was, but it’s still located in California. For example, Six Flags over Georgia is not Georgia themed but it’s located in Georgia. I could even see them opening a fifth park in Florida and calling it Disney’s Florida Adventure even though it’s just a bunch of IP based land and areas.

    The plan to move the shuttle area is one of the main projects to be able o clear and expand the Hollywood lot. The design that have consider would actually give DCA 8 to 9 acres depending on whether they decide to remove the philharmonic theatre which does not pull in the numbers they would have liked.
    The land bridge and pedestrian walkway would not take as much land as in the sketch shown. as for the monorail they are still considering the original plans and that is to reroute the monorail to run right next to the return track along Disneyland on north side of the existing shuttle area

    Honestly, if they are looking at adding a new attraction to DCA by 2028 for the Olympics, the Avenger’s E-ticket would be the best route to go. The Avatar expansion, I think, would be better to save for an expansion into the Downtown Disney parking lot expansion. But, I do think the first thing we will see would be the new version of the eastern gateway expansion. Now, the 70th is next year, but in 2030 is the 75th. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Avatar experience in the new expansion to open that year. As far as a new name, if they should keep the acronym, I think Disneyland’s Cinematic Adventures would be a good name. You get to keep the old-school LA/Hollywood front area but allow for better incorporation of the present lands and future lands.

    I gotta admit, Jack. Your video introduction with a shadow-free news paper article appearing with the cartoon arm and the name before the tune ends is totally new. The future for Disney's California Adventure could make Disneyland upgrade to automatic moving park props to resemble ThrillVille: Off the Rails. The expansion of Avatar attraction is quite extensive and the floating rocks from the movies resemble Mario World objects which float magically.

    The Pirates ride is entirely indoors. The Avatar version appears like a large portion will be outdoors, so the ride building will probably be much smaller. Also, there are old plans out there for Disneyland ripping out the Subs and Autopia. Included with that was a rerouting of the Monorail. It was going to be removed completely from Disneyland, and instead it would do a u-turn in the Esplanade, the eastern point of the track being about where the security gates are. It would still cross the bridge inside DCA, but then curve to the Esplanade before entering Hollywood Land. That one's in their Blue Sky plans, so it's most likely what they're going to do.
    I don't think the Avengers ride is going to be based on the Peter Pan ride. I think you were close in your video about the Peter Pan ride when you suggested it might be a flying theater simulator like Soaring or Flight of Passage. The pic you show of construction appear to have four separate theaters, which means either a smaller Flight of Passage, with flat screens, or a much MUCH smaller Soaring. Considering there's a Soaring already in DisneySea, I doubt it's that. Also, I don't think the boats work realistically with that ride system. 12 people hanging below the ride system, connected only in the back? Does not seem easy or very safe. More likely they will just put those boats on the platforms that Flight of Passage uses. Hence the very high sides and back. Another reason behind this is that Oriental Land Company insisted the Imagineers create rides with better throughput. Considering the size of the Frozen and Tangled boats, this was directed at the Peter Pan rides. It could mean just the Tinker Bell ride, which appears to use trackless vehicles again, but I think it is a direct dig at Flight of Passage, which seems to handle about 1400 riders per hour.
    Of course Avengers COULD use the Flight of Passage system, but I think they're going to put Flight of Passage in the Avatar land. James Cameron has said he's willing to make a Way of Water film for the new land, and there's no way Disney will turn him down. I'd normally predict it would be Phase 2 - Disney loves its Phase 2s - but I don't think they can screw with Cameron. He's why the Pandora land doesn't look cheap. This may explain why nobody talks about the Avengers ride while Iger won't shut up about Avatar. The SMART thing to do would be open a new ride before closing down an entire land. But this is Disney and they will happily spend the next 4 years with no new ride, and then punt Avengers down the road for a good 5 years after opening Pandora 2.
    As for the Paris name change: dreadful and generic. I would've preferred Disney Paris Adventure. This would've tied it to Disney California Adventure, and it would've made people shut up about the whole California thing. It's an ADVENTURE that takes place in CALIFORNIA (or PARIS). Move on with your lives! I think they may have come up with a variation of that here. I think when it actually gets renamed - not until Arendelle opens - it'll really be Disney Adventure World Paris. And DCA will become Disney Adventure World California. And the other Studios will become Disney Adventure World Florida. After the castle parks, they're the three parks that are the most alike. Or at least the parks that aren't as different as Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Disney still has issues getting people to realize that "Disneyland" is more than one park and "Disney World" is more than one park. Multiple Adventure Worlds can change that.

    • @MartyNev6
      @MartyNev6 Месяц назад +1

      One thing that cpuld really go well in that area behind Pixar Pier.. could be a Beymax/Big Hero 6 E ticket attraction.. they would be able to have the queue start in San Fransokyo, near the Beymax store & Meet & Greet.. and then snake it through that surprisingly wide area between the Cliffs of Radiator Springs and the start of the Board walk of Pixar Pier.. and put it behind the Incredicoaster, you coukd have a Beymax themed Flight of Passage style flying ride where you fly through the skies of San Fransokyo and chase/battle a baddie. The showbuilding wouldn't even have to be as big as Flight of Passage.. because it won't need to contain as much of the queue which will be stretched through from San Fransokyo Square.

    I feel like a name change would actually make DCA worse, especially to those who are not familiar with the history of the park. Why is Pixar's equivalent of Fantasyland a cheap pier that doesn't feature settings similar to their films? Why is the Marvel land based off a California headquarters rather than New York or another location actually seen in the MCU? I know that recent additions to the park barely fit DCA's theme, but they are still designed to loosely connect to it.
    They could make Avatar work in this park in the same way Cars Land works. Cars Land fits in the park as it represents California car culture despite being located in Arizona (it was even being designed as a non-IP land before the imagineers discovered that Pixar was making a movie with those same themes). A Way of Water land could maybe represent California coasts or something similar, which could explain why the concept art features alien versions of sea otters and seagulls instead of the more iconic creatures from the film.

  • @brianfoss571

    Might be an unpopular opinion, but I always thought DCA should have a dark ride for *Fantasia.* It'd fit in much better with Buena Vista Street than either Avatar or Monster's Inc, and Disney wouldn't need to enclose the monorail.

    I do like the idea of DCA > Disney's Cinemagic Adventure park (or closely similar).
    I always felt like with all the Studios Disney now owns or overlords over, DCA and Studios were the perfect fit to represent them, but I would have organized the layout like this (also fiscally speaking, it's more efficient):
    ORIGINAL PLAN:
    > Buena Vista Street --> something more akin to Hollywood without crossing too much into the Universal territory. What BVS represents is awesome, but it's very very very lost in translation and even if you were to try to find IRL where it's representative, Carthay Square doesn't exist anymore. That being said, this land would be very similar to what it already is, just paying homage to DCA's origins and the (southern) California spirit.
    > Hollywood Land --> Avengers Campus
    > A Bug's Land/Car's Land --> Pandora: World of Avatar & Fox Backlot (Avatar & Fox Studios)
    > Pixar Pier --> Pixar Pier (it makes the most sense with what's available)
    > Grizzly Peak --> Galaxy's Edge (Star Wars)
    CURRENT RECONCEPT PLAN:
    > Buena Vista Street --> same as above
    > Hollywood Land --> Star Wars Bay (I'm still not happy with plopping that franchise in Disneyland, even if it's a good land, it just fits better in this park.
    > A Bug's Land > Avenger's Campus (Stays, just expands with the hopes and dreams of everyone else)
    > Car's Land > Stays, but it's a tough one to keep as it's really intensely Pixar focused with the rest of the map, bit uneven. Alternately, would work as a Star Wars option as well.
    > Pixar Pier --> Stays, perhaps expands pathing in ways that really allow more immersion to Pixar and less hodgepodgey with the rest of the park the way it is now.
    > Grizzly Peak --> Avatar (seriously, between the lushness and scope of the project, there's really quite a simple yet elegant way to redevelop this land into Avatar). Technically, they wouldn't even have to swap the ride out, just heavily retheme it (and yes goodbye grizzly bear mountain facade). The Soarin' concept works well for both a retheme or just utilizing that as the outpost for humans (very military-themed). And the perimeter that expands into Redwood Challenge and other diners/shopping could easily get overhauled into more immersive experiences, as well! It's really just the elephant in the room that seems to make most sense. However, I wouldn't be opposed to redoing the rapids with the PotC Shanghai concept as a new hybrid ride, too.

    If Pandora goes into the Hollywood backlot area it could also take over the Hyperion Theatre. Disney doesn’t use it anymore. Disney could also take over more of the Hollywood Studio street. The Animation Academy is pointless. There isn’t much there so shortening the street would be feasible. A name change is almost certain. As for the Paris studio name change, Orange Grove 55 had the best suggestion: Wonderful World of Disney which would also work for Disney California Adventure.

However, Paradise Gardens needs a name that fits with the Walt Disney Animation IP's of that corner of ex-Paradise Pier in order for the "cinema" name to kind of work. Buena Vista Street can take some of the Hollywood elements. Also, the park would loose the Streetcar as the shops are where the Avengers E-ticket will go (guess they could reroute it past Soarin'-but that might mean Earl of Sandwich goes if they really want to keep it, but I doubt it)

    A thought just occurred to me: Alice Stella has said that the Harry Potter attraction at UEU will use a tracked motion base + elevator cab ride system, that can reach a very tall Z-axis height to create dramatic drops and rises. I'm wondering if Peter Pan at Disney Seas uses something similar, if that is going to be the surprise feature of that ride that makes it feel like flying with Peter? And if that is true, could the Marvel E-ticket as DCA have been planned for something similar?

  • @DestinationsChronicles

    I really don't think that DCA needs to change it's name. This is an Adventure that is available in California. Disney Paris and Disney Shanghai (etc) aren't apologizing for their names.

    • @gelatinguy
      @gelatinguy Месяц назад

      Not sure if joking, but California Adventure wasn't named for being in Cali, it was named because all the attractions used to be themed around California experiences, like Soarin, which flew over California (before they expanded it to fly over the world), or the Tower of Terror being a Hollywood thing. As the years passed, they added Disney themes to it (all the characters and movies/shows), so now it only has a few Cali themed things left. So that's why the consideration of a name change.

    Regarding the location of Avatar, I could see Soarin' replaced with Flight of Passage, Grizzly River Run already having plumbing infrastructure for that new boat ride, and the Redwood Creek trail re-themed since these areas already have trees similar to Avatar in Animal Kingdom. This would mean less need to demo buildings and re-create the forest environment over in Hollywood land.

    If they get rid of the Monsters inc land at CGA, that is more of a reason for them to make the Launch Bay Area of Hollywood Studios into a Monsters inc themed land / area. The idea would be that once you walk into the launch bay courtyard, it would be a Monsters inc themed land, with the Launch Bay building and behind becoming the Monsters Inc factory … that houses a Vekoma suspended family coaster themed to the door chase scene in the movie (as the doors are racing suspended on tracks through the giant factory warehouse looking for Boo and chasing Randall), the entrance to the ride could be the entrance to the factory that we see in the movie a couple of times where Celia is the receptionist. Then, to add to the land, in that area where Disney Junior or Little Mermaid is, you can move the Laugh Floor from Magic Kingdom to that location. In Magic Kingdom. Tomorrowland, they should use the spaces where Laugh Floor was along with Space Ranger Spin (yes, close space Ranger Spin) … and create a whole new eTicket attraction that fits the theme of tomorrow Land (perhaps a WALL·E attraction) that is a trackless dark ride

    “Disney Cinemagic/CinéMagique” is definitely a show or a parade, at best. Doesn’t sound like a park name.
    DCA doesn’t need a name change. Just like EPCOT is hardly about the “community of tomorrow” anymore yet it keeps its name. The story at DCA is about Walt’s Los Angeles when he first moved here, Pixar Pier is based off of a classic beachside carnival, San Fransokyo is basically San Francisco, the whole Grizzly Peak/Grand Californian is based off of the Sierra Nevadas/Redwoods. I’m thinking there’s plenty about it that still screams “California”.

One important point, all of the Disneyland Forward paper work stated there would be no bus or ride-share drop off along Harbor after the Eastern Gateway is built. That would free up 2-3 acres on the east side of your diagram where ride-share drop off currently sits. I also think 2028 is an important year. Bravo!

    I don't love that Avatar Land would go into that area of the park, though I've been saying for years that area is a total waste of space for what's in there. Frankly if they're going to go that route, they should just go ahead and knock down the Hyperion theater and\or where the building where the Animation Academy is since they took out the Sorcerer's workshop and hardly anyone goes in there (though i love it in there). That just seems like an odd transition from Hollywood, to Avatar, back to Hollywood... I just don't think that's a great area for something that big. And is it really a Land of us just a singular ride? I think it would be a better fit where the Nemo subs are over in DL.. Though I think there's been talk of Tron going in there.
    If they're going to change the name they probably want to keep some aspect of California in there since there's still a large California theme to the park: Disney's Hollywood Adventure

    No one seems to mention it but they could have far more ambitious plans for that region of the park. In fact, it seems like they are giving us indications of it. I am referring to the theater and it’s courtyard which takes up a massive amount of space and isn’t even being used currently along with the Animation building across the way which is horribly underutilized. I could easily see that entire Hollywood section being bulldozed to make a huge Avatar section. But that also presents a huge problem. The red car. Would they really bulldoze something that they spent so much money on building relatively recently? Hmmmm. Maybe. They aren’t exactly good long term planners these days and do waste money.
    BUT….this entire Avatar project could be actually planned for across the street near the Pixar Place hotel in what is now the Downtown Disney lot which is absolutely mammoth in size and could easily be connected and thus a part of California Adventure still. Although yes, the park needs a new name. And somehow they need to sort out how the hotel and rapids ride area fit into it. That park was built so wrong that they are still sorting it out decades later.

    I really do not see why they would or have to change the name of DCA. There is a reason they removed the "S from the name a while back.
