You forgot escapism. I used to visit to forget the troubles of the world but with everything going wrong in the parks I can’t help but feel the outside world has taken over my magical place.
In all honesty, the Dr.Strange show is the most entertaining part of Avengers Campus. Shame to see it go, grateful I had the opportunity to see it live.

Just went to Universal-H this week. It was AMAZING! Took my family of 5 Sunday evening, all day Monday, and then Wednesday morning (after doing Knotts on Tuesday which sucked). For the SoCal pass, it cost me less than ONE SINGLE DAY at DL with G+. Went three days, get to go back later this year. It was so chill. No reserving times, no rushing from place to place. Just hanging out and doing some rides. Haven't done DL since 2022 and I can't say I've regretted it. I miss it. But I think I miss what DL used to be, not what it is.
All of these cancellations in the name of “money saving” is giving me horrible flashbacks to WB completely killing fully made movies like Batgirl for “tax purposes”

I hate when they say there is no room at Disneyland. There are so many dead spaces in Disneyland. All of the dead theater spaces at Disneyland you mentioned for example. Just put “something” in those dead spaces, please Disney!
I am really hoping Disney as a whole turns things around... The parks are now getting infected from the top. They have taken so many L's and BILLIONS of dollars lost. Walt would be beyond disgusted... new leadership desperately needed!
Last August we went and I'm not joking the highlight for me was the Royal Theatre (and Rise of Resistance). We saw 3 different shows. I know it seems silly but I love theatre not for the story but I love seeing the effects and how they make a story come together. It knew it was a low budget show and totally rolled with it. I felt like I found a hidden secret.

There should be a show every day at the Fantasyland Theater AND at the proper theater in Hollywoodland. Totally agree that the Club Pixar show was weird, but shows should have a replacement ready to go before they're canceled.
Give us live entertainment!!! The live shows are one of the best parts of going to Disneyland! Unfortunately they ARE becoming less popular, which is why Disney can cancel them and not many people even realize. It’s a shame. But Disney should be replacing that cancelled entertainment with SOMETHING! As you pointed out, there is a lot of empty space in both parks! And people are paying A LOT of money to get into Disneyland. Step it up Disney!
Live entertainment is only less popular because Disney fails to innovate and give the guests what they want to see. You want a lightsaber duel stunt show in Galaxy's Edge? There was a group called the Magic Kingdom Korps that ran from 1991-1998. We had a regular following of fans, and we played sets until 9 or 10 pm! It was quite a sad day when we got laid off. Also, the All American College Band was cut as the DL band is now running that show. Finally, the. Christmas parade used to be more than twice as large, with several bands. The mid-90s were the height of live entertainment in the park.
You know . this is a good time to bring back the old show at the Golden Horseshoe make a big deal of it to get that ticket sales.. because people would fly in for that!
I would love to see them make more of the golden horseshoe. Add in a better menu, maybe even a sitdown restaurant and then better entertainment. Then they can charge more there make it a bigger deal. People weren’t going there because of the food. If they had had better food or people would go there making it makes sense to have live entertainment there. But maybe turning it into a full restaurant The way the hoop Dee do musical review at Walt Disney World would be better?
Disney has lost its rudder and is adrift. It seems to have no plan of any kind and every decision they make is contrary to what the public wants, whether it’s in the parks or its media offerings. They are literally ALL OVER THE PLACE it is astounding. They have driven up the prices and reduced the value and then they have to desperately try to make changes (further reduce value) in an effort to save money. They could have made that money and more by keeping things at a level of quality they'd formerly mastered and also by keeping it accessible to as many as possible. Where is the limit? With Disney, it's finally obvious that the limit does not exist (bonus for you who get that reference lol)
I would argue that it's still very worth going to Walt Disney World. There's so much to do there. Although expensive, it can be per-day cheaper than Disneyland and it's a much better value! I hope you make it there someday instead!

Thanks to freshbaked I was a master at the old fastpass/maxpass system, with all these changes upon changes, it's hard to enjoy yourself. I refuse to pay for genie+ for our family. Maxpass was doable at $10 a pop, but we could also go as many times as we could on every ride.

For example….something called the Golden Horseshoe, should have a show, that shows girls doing the “eye high kick”, or, a stunt show like “shoot-em-up cowboy” along With that gentleman playing piano on the side, WHY!!… because that is real American history and Disney made it fun. Watched the Dr Strange show with my adult daughter and we were both like, eh? It wasn’t exciting and the actor seemed anxious The sun was directly in the audience faces and we all had to sit or stand on the hard cement while shading our eyes. It was exhausting. Sorry. We liked the marvel character but, ain’t going to miss this show.

So the reason I think Disney paused Magic Key sales is to create "Fear of Missing Out" aka FOMO. FOMO marketing is very popular right now. I suspect key sales were kind of flat and/or renewals were not at the rate they wanted. By pausing sales they are creating pressure on the consumer to buy a key when they come back, because who knows when you won't be able to get one.
I never saw the Dr. Strange show because it was ALWAYS too crowded. 🤷🏻♀️I’m not a Magic Key Holder, so I didn’t go weekly, but it would’ve been nice to see in person.
Walt would've ratted on him to the HUAC just as I will after I take over Disney and make it great again. I will implement a policy of De-Igerfication much like what Germany underwent after WWII.
I want to note that I was very disappointed that Magic Happens was only running once a day during my trip a month ago. In my opinion the parade is better later in the day rather than the afternoon in the baking sunlight. As for Doctor Strange, I'm glad I got to see the show, though I would admit it could be more spectacular. But, personally I love the concept I saw on twitter years ago suggesting taking the Mystic Manor ride system and concept and making it Dr Strange, and I checked the measurements, you could fit that type of attraction in the current Animation building footprint, then just move the main entrance to the side that faces Avengers Campus. At that point I would suggest changing the current Dr Strange area to something for a different Avenger, or even Fantastic 4 or X-Men (both sets of characters I fully expect to see integrated into the land over time).
@@dayoldbread1696 I highly, highly doubt that. you would have to somehow get guests from the Doctor Strange area (that isn't that big) across the walkway connecting Avengers Campus to Cars Land where the show building will definitely be for the ride (only spot in the area big enough to put it). So unless you think they're going to just get rid of that connecting walkway (which I highly doubt because it would also make Radiator Springs and Luigi's a dead end.

There will be no Avengers E Ticket and Avengers Camopus will be going away along with all traces of Marvel after Disney is trust busted. No one will miss it.

Im guessing the key pause is so they can sell them later at a higher price. You see that all the time with menu items in restaurant. Fan favorite goes away only to be reintroduces but at a higher price. Its like they think the public has memory loss issues.
How can we get Disney to hear us and know that we want shows? This is so sad and very much changes the value and quality of the park and the park experience.

@@TK_5280 People don't know their power. That is the real problem. In the 60's, Disney was not friendly to the LGBTQ community, so they protested. A LOT. I don't think it ever made the news, but they were large protests, and you can see the result of their protests today. Disney does NOT want a large group of people protesting the parks. Why? Because it works.
IMO, Disney hates live entertainment because it keeps people out of lines for attractions, which is what Disney wants so they can sell more genie+. Disney can’t say cancelled shows at Royal Theatre are due to poor attendance or guest feedback, those shows were always packed with more people standing outside. Shows at Golden Horseshoe always drew large crowds also. This is just cheap. Disneys treatment towards live entertainment, shows, musicians and actors is disgraceful. Shows won’t make a return until Disney can find a way to put them all behind a paywall like they experimented with Rodgers.
We all saw this coming when that union deal was signed. Disney did the same thing when the hotel workers union demanded $15 an hour with full benefits (this was back in 2018) Disney canceled the entire hotel project out of spite. Expect live entertainment to be drastically reduced for years to come.

Magic Keys: I'm sure they have a target number, some people didn't renew because of all the construction happening (I was one of them). Now that we're a few months away from everything opening back up, which I'm sure will drive attendance as everyone tries out TBA, they got their annual pass quota. I expect they'll be floating about a year before Magic Keys open up again when the cycle starts all over.
Its actually insane that disney is cancelling the dr strange show. It was purpose built into the land and is responsible to a pretty large extent the look and feel of the land. Whole lands a mess. Rip out dr strange and spiderman. Same with animation building. Have the midway veer to the right directly toward guardians from hollywood blvd at an angle where the animation show building currently is. The improved approach would blow people away versus having us walk backstage essentially past the side of the animation building. You could actually theme and activate a marvel city street in that space. Side note the hip hop performers look actually talented at pixar fest, put them in the parade or an outside stage during the day somewhere.

I recently bought a Magic Key because I felt certain that when Haunted Mansion and the new Tiana’s Bayau Adventure opened, they’d stop selling the Keys. With Tiana’s to open soon I feel like this news of the Keys no longer available for purchase confirms my theory. Only makes sense that Disney would do everything to ENSURE the maximum amount of ticket sales and premier lightning lane reservations in anticipation of the new Tiana’s Bayau Adventure opening soon.
Live entertainment is one of the main things that sets Disney apart. Otherwise they’re just a glorified Six Flags. On our first visit to DCA we were blown away by Aladdin at the Hyperion. I remember thinking it was incredible we got Broadway quality entertainment along with everything else in the park for the price of admission. I have to agree that Disney has been on a consistent trajectory of offering less but charging more.
Today is the last day for the enchant key…imagine closed last week. I have a feeling it has to do with Disney rather having peeps buy daily tickets through the summer…their busiest season.

We’re riders more than anything but one nice thing about Disney world compared to Disneyland is the entertainment. Taking more of it away means there’s less to do and even worse drives more people to rides creating longer lines

Also, the All American College Band was cut as the DL band is now running that show. Finally, the. Christmas parade used to be more than twice as large, with several bands. The mid-90s were the height of live entertainment in the park.
You know . this is a good time to bring back the old show at the Golden Horseshoe make a big deal of it to get that ticket sales.. because people would fly in for that!
I would love to see them make more of the golden horseshoe. Add in a better menu, maybe even a sitdown restaurant and then better entertainment. Then they can charge more there make it a bigger deal. People weren’t going there because of the food. If they had had better food or people would go there making it makes sense to have live entertainment there. But maybe turning it into a full restaurant The way the hoop Dee do musical review at Walt Disney World would be better?

Disney has lost its rudder and is adrift. It seems to have no plan of any kind and every decision they make is contrary to what the public wants, whether it’s in the parks or its media offerings. So very sad. Look back to the 1990’s and Disney was a juggernaut in the industry. Now they’re just like a glitched out Roomba.

I worked in Disney Entertainment for 25 years....we knew this would be the result, but the CM's thought they knew better.
They are literally ALL OVER THE PLACE it is astounding. They have driven up the prices and reduced the value and then they have to desperately try to make changes (further reduce value) in an effort to save money. They could have made that money and more by keeping things at a level of quality they'd formerly mastered and also by keeping it accessible to as many as possible. Where is the limit? With Disney, it's finally obvious that the limit does not exist (bonus for you who get that reference lol)
Everytime we try to think of visiting Disneyland from Canada, disney gives us a reason to say to ourselves, "why bother?".
I would argue that it's still very worth going to Walt Disney World. There's so much to do there. Although expensive, it can be per-day cheaper than Disneyland and it's a much better value! I hope you make it there someday instead!
@FollowMyRuin my wife's been to disneyworld several times. I've only been to Disneyland a handful of times. Thanks to freshbaked I was a master at the old fastpass/maxpass system, with all these changes upon changes, it's hard to enjoy yourself. I refuse to pay for genie+ for our family. Maxpass was doable at $10 a pop, but we could also go as many times as we could on every ride.

Watched the Dr Strange show with my adult daughter and we were both like, eh? It wasn’t exciting and the actor seemed anxious The sun was directly in the audience faces and we all had to sit or stand on the hard cement while shading our eyes. It was exhausting. Sorry. We liked the marvel character but, ain’t going to miss this show.
It felt and looked like the budget was $5 and a pack of peanuts 😂

So the reason I think Disney paused Magic Key sales is to create "Fear of Missing Out" aka FOMO. FOMO marketing is very popular right now. I suspect key sales were kind of flat and/or renewals were not at the rate they wanted. By pausing sales they are creating pressure on the consumer to buy a key when they come back, because who knows when you won't be able to get one.

I want to note that I was very disappointed that Magic Happens was only running once a day during my trip a month ago. In my opinion the parade is better later in the day rather than the afternoon in the baking sunlight. As for Doctor Strange, I'm glad I got to see the show, though I would admit it could be more spectacular. But, personally I love the concept I saw on twitter years ago suggesting taking the Mystic Manor ride system and concept and making it Dr Strange, and I checked the measurements, you could fit that type of attraction in the current Animation building footprint, then just move the main entrance to the side that faces Avengers Campus. At that point I would suggest changing the current Dr Strange area to something for a different Avenger, or even Fantastic 4 or X-Men (both sets of characters I fully expect to see integrated into the land over time).

@@dayoldbread1696 I highly, highly doubt that. you would have to somehow get guests from the Doctor Strange area (that isn't that big) across the walkway connecting Avengers Campus to Cars Land where the show building will definitely be for the ride (only spot in the area big enough to put it). So unless you think they're going to just get rid of that connecting walkway (which I highly doubt because it would also make Radiator Springs and Luigi's a dead end.

I’m all about the shows, but Dr. Strange was my least favorite, easily. Felt like we lost value braving the hot sun there for the quality of the show.

Im guessing the key pause is so they can sell them later at a higher price. You see that all the time with menu items in restaurant. Fan favorite goes away only to be reintroduces but at a higher price.
Its like they think the public has memory loss issues.
How can we get Disney to hear us and know that we want shows? This is so sad and very much changes the value and quality of the park and the park experience.
The only way would be to get enough people to boycott, and that isn't going to happen. Disney guests are not very good at that type of thing.

@@TK_5280 People don't know their power. That is the real problem. In the 60's, Disney was not friendly to the LGBTQ community, so they protested. A LOT. I don't think it ever made the news, but they were large protests, and you can see the result of their protests today. Disney does NOT want a large group of people protesting the parks. Why? Because it works.

IMO, Disney hates live entertainment because it keeps people out of lines for attractions, which is what Disney wants so they can sell more genie+. Disney can’t say cancelled shows at Royal Theatre are due to poor attendance or guest feedback, those shows were always packed with more people standing outside. Shows at Golden Horseshoe always drew large crowds also. This is just cheap. Disneys treatment towards live entertainment, shows, musicians and actors is disgraceful. Shows won’t make a return until Disney can find a way to put them all behind a paywall like they experimented with Rodgers.
they don't want guests in attraction queues. it's the reason fastpass exists. to get you out of the queue and in a shop or restaurant.
We all saw this coming when that union deal was signed. Disney did the same thing when the hotel workers union demanded $15 an hour with full benefits (this was back in 2018) Disney canceled the entire hotel project out of spite. Expect live entertainment to be drastically reduced for years to come.

Magic Keys: I'm sure they have a target number, some people didn't renew because of all the construction happening (I was one of them). Now that we're a few months away from everything opening back up, which I'm sure will drive attendance as everyone tries out TBA, they got their annual pass quota. I expect they'll be floating about a year before Magic Keys open up again when the cycle starts all over.
Its actually insane that disney is cancelling the dr strange show. It was purpose built into the land and is responsible to a pretty large extent the look and feel of the land. Whole lands a mess.
Rip out dr strange and spiderman. Same with animation building. Have the midway veer to the right directly toward guardians from hollywood blvd at an angle where the animation show building currently is. The improved approach would blow people away versus having us walk backstage essentially past the side of the animation building. You could actually theme and activate a marvel city street in that space.
Side note the hip hop performers look actually talented at pixar fest, put them in the parade or an outside stage during the day somewhere.
There’s a new piece of concept art that shows the sanctum as being the queue for the avengers e ticket ride. So them closing the show might mean they are finally going to start on the avengers e ticket ride. At least I’m hoping that’s the case

@@slowazzd2165 I have work construction and YES you can bring it back. It isn't that complicated, just takes resolve to make the upgrades where needed.
SkyWay will also come back. It won't be able to go through Matterhorn, but it will be a high-capacity sky lift that goes around the park.

The Golden Horseshoe was my most favorite attraction at Disneyland. These kind of cutbacks seem to be a lazy way to do business.
I recently bought a Magic Key because I felt certain that when Haunted Mansion and the new Tiana’s Bayau Adventure opened, they’d stop selling the Keys.
With Tiana’s to open soon I feel like this news of the Keys no longer available for purchase confirms my theory.
Only makes sense that Disney would do everything to ENSURE the maximum amount of ticket sales and premier lightning lane reservations in anticipation of the new Tiana’s Bayau Adventure opening soon.
Maybe the cast member that plays dr strange is quitting or took another position and didn't may need to re cast
Live entertainment is one of the main things that sets Disney apart. Otherwise they’re just a glorified Six Flags. On our first visit to DCA we were blown away by Aladdin at the Hyperion. I remember thinking it was incredible we got Broadway quality entertainment along with everything else in the park for the price of admission. I have to agree that Disney has been on a consistent trajectory of offering less but charging more.
Today is the last day for the enchant key…imagine closed last week.
I have a feeling it has to do with Disney rather having peeps buy daily tickets through the summer…their busiest season.

We’re riders more than anything but one nice thing about Disney world compared to Disneyland is the entertainment. Taking more of it away means there’s less to do and even worse drives more people to rides creating longer lines
