- I give you the reasons I spent my cold hard cash on a ORCA cooler instead of the YETI.
Buy it here amzn.to/2to5K9l
Top 10 Reasons I bought it
1. Made in America
2. It was black which makes it at least 2 points cooler
3. It was actually 40 Qts
5 It didn't seem as bulky as some of the other coolers I looked at.
6. It came with some netting for extra storage.
7. It was a certified bear box
8. It has holes for tie downs
9. It was cheaper that YETI
10. Lifetime Warranty!!!!! I forgot to mention this in the video
The cooler being able to hold ice has it situations where it’s needed. When the hurricane hit in Houston. I was out of power for 8 Days. Ice was good the entire time.
I am glad you had a good cooler.
Orcas also have a lifetime warranty on their coolers, Yeti has only a 5 year warranty.
Great video! I'm buying my dad one of these, I did a lot of research and went from thinking of YETI (they are way overpriced imo and not even made in USA) then I looked at RTIC, it was cheaper and similar but kept looking, then I found Pelican, I liked they were made in USA but as you said they looked huge and I wanted something more discrete, and doing more research I found ORCA, love the size, cool colors and design, top coolers in ice retention, and last but not least 100% American made 🇺🇸!
I won a orca in a raffle because I bought a bunch of Milwaukee battery tools.my orca is so sealed a lot of the time I had to unscrew the drain plug because the vacuum is so tight I could get the lid to come up .i have a yeti ,Icey etc, igloo sportsman, I will be buying a orca again love it.
Firefighters thank you for your service
Came for the cooler review. Stayed for the Weimaraner!
Great review, Daniel, thanks.
thanks for doing this review bro - you convinced me ....
These have now out priced yeti. Not by much but they are now officially more. But, USA made so worth it!
now that is a COOL cooler...USA MADE--pay more if needed!
Wonder if guys still use dray ice WITH regular ice. Last time I saw it done, after several days, not one drop came off the ice after a full day--in the desert, and that was just a standard old crappy cooler
I'm thinking of getting one of these. A follow up would review be cool, after some good use with it.. Thanks for posting!
mastermetalshredder I have a orca 20. A yeti 35 and an rtic 65. They are all about the same. The orca is made in the USA and has the pouch in the back. If you ever watch coolers on sale here on youtube where they do ice retention tests the orca wins 1st place most of the time. I was going to get a yeti roadie but the orca was cheaper.. but now yeti has the price of the roadie at 199. Something to think about. Orca is a tank tho. I got mine at a store. I did have to open a few not all of them would stay open . The lids on some didn't go all the way open. Maybe this guy will respond but if not I hope this helps.
I am getting ready to take it to colorado for a 7 day elk hunt. I will let you know how it does.
@@danieldumas4518 howd the elk hunt go?
Died of starvation?!
Just picked up the same size. Love it. I already had one of the drink tumblers. The warranty is what sold me after already checking out a friends cooler. Does yeti have a lifetime warranty still???
Yeti has never had a lifetime warranty. 5 years on hard coolers, 3 years on soft.
@@paulcarlin5181 3 years later and my cooler still holding up just fine. Bout two other orcas since
@@sicboy83 Great to hear!
Would this fit on a passenger seat of my ram 3500? Looking for a nice cooler for my transportation business. It’s between this one or the 26. I’d prefer the 40 but wondering if it would fit.
Will McCullough III I have the 26 if going inside on the passenger seat go 26
Do you still have your Orca? Bought a 20 Orca this past summer. Love it other than a little tough to open, but love the ice retention. I may add the 58 quart in the future. I like the tall opposed to wider style on the 58.
Twist your drain plug to release pressure to open easier.
@@trentimus5700 Will test it out, thank you!
Do you find the Black allows ice to melt faster than other colors. Or does it not really matter.
It does, but if you use things like Yeti ice, Arctic Ice at the bottom then fill with already cold drinks, you can help the ice life. Always fill dead space in the cooler with ice, food, drinks. Dead air is not good for ice retention.
Do you have any problems with the lid warping with the dark color?
So far I haven't had any problems with warping.
Orka must be good then, i have a green cooler in another name brand it warps slightly in direct sunlight then goes back to normal in the shade, It doesn't warp bad but still annoying
Menards has the 40qt charcoal color for $190 but might settle with a Coleman Xtreme cooler which is still made in America.
Fishing Kansas I bought the one at menards lowest price on the 40 qt I seen love the charcoal grey almost same color as my Durango . I was told that color was made for menards.
Just picked one up with the 11% off sale for $168.
Black cooler. Beautiful but crazy.
Orca, also gives vets and first responders a discount.
Never quite got why people make a black cooler? Nice video though!
@ Don Altemus ANSWER: *why people make and purchase black coolers*
1. Because some people don't keep their cooler in the sun, (thus eliminating the issue of a darker colored cooler generating more heat from the sun and melting ice faster).
2. Like the gentlemen in this video mentioned, he doesn't want want the cooler to stand out so animals notice it when hunting, or conducting outdoor activities that may require ones presence in the woods slightly more undetectable to the local fauna.
3. Maybe he wants the cooler to match some of his other gear, or his vehicle perhaps?
4. Black looks cool and could be a "desired color" that one prefers his belongings to be, like maybe a pen, chainsaw, T-shirt, or a private jet?
Hope this helps clear up any confusion over the color choice of a black cooler, i'm here to help :)
They don't stand out in a hunting blind and they're not too bright 'seeable' inside your truck.
Nice cooler... Everyone stay away from Ozark Trail coolers, the latches are held on with screws.
I have a YETI TUNDRA 105 purchased from REI with a 20% off and $81.50 of dividends
Total price out the door for $333
I will get it all back from saving money on ice. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your cooler.
dividends?
SterrShow... look up REI dividends???
RedWhite&Blue 78 fuck yeti
Looked like the back hinge had a really wide opening, not tight as other cooler.
There is a lip all around the inside edge which actually creates the seal. So having a gap doesn't really affect the seal and it feels really tight.
Do the light test put in a very brite flash light inside close lid do in a dark room if you got a good seal you will not see any light. On a all white cooler you can see the light from the lid and sides if its defective. This is why one guys cooler is great and another guy has poor results inperfection in the injection mold process some spots don't have any foam air pockets letting heat in. I have reviewed many coolers from my test 20qt 21/2 days 40qt 4days 50qt 5days 75qt 7days 105qt 10days prechill cooler does help frozen block ice also helps.Hope this helps people out .
I noticed that too. Looking online and also saw the ones at Menards, I think the lid is suppose to sit more flush with the body.
Peel the clear square off around your FD sticker
I wish I could it a window sticker and that the way it comes.
Either way, love representing the union on my vehicles and hopefully the Orca 40 here soon. Out of my research, this does look like one of the top coolers you could get!
Lots of blemishes on mine. Blk also
Let’s see a review 4 years later
They have taken the "Starbuck's business model". It's based on the Wall Street model of "Greater Fool". Why pay more than a dollar for a coffee? Why pay KERUG over a hundred dollars before you get your first at home $1.00 coffee? It's definitely based on the "Greater Fool Theory"
You don’t understand the greater fool theory if you’re trying to apply it here.

A small block of ice will last longer than cubes of ice
2 littler bottles with salt water...no mess, if you go no salt you can drink when it thaws...ergonomic and useful
"why I picked it over Yeti" Well, because its better and cheaper
No it's not it uses thinner plastic and if you ever handle one it just sounds cheap compared to a Yeti. this is like buying a Dodge Charger and trying to tell everybody is just as good as a BMW M5. It's not.
@@reds7vn644 You sound like you're pissed you bought a yeti instead of an orca.
Orca supports the 2a, yeti does not. Don't buy a yeti.
So you basically bought a cheaper Yeti knockoff that's a blatant knock off. They change the carry handle to stripes and they made the lockdowns in the shape of a whale tail other than that the whole entire thing is constructed and built like a Yeti even down to the hinge.
Yeah, that's about it. Petty awesome right.
Will not buy a Yeti product after their waffling on support of the second amendment.
