It's so interesting to think that since Dooku's true role in orchestrating the Clone War was not public knowledge, for some members of the Rebellion he died a martyr and a golden example of what a rebel should be.
For countless low ranking ones - yes. For high ranking ones he was a war criminal and a monster just as bad as the Imperials since the head of the Rebellion (like the Chandrilans, Alderaanians and Mon Calamari) were firmly on the Republic’s side during the war and horrified of Dooku’s actions. Most of them truely started taking actions against the growing Empire in 4 BBY after it was clear that it couldn’t be reverted back to the Old Republic through peaceful means.

The "horrible actions" of Dooku were never pinned on him since he was a diplomat. Grievous was in charge of the military and his reputation absorbed all of it. Dooku was aiming for a seat in the Empire, he would not have that if the high ranks of the Empire/Republic didn't respect him.

That's literally what allows the Empire to emerge- their opinions were rare since that's what the clone wars were all about: grooming the population to give up their freedom for safety because of the devastation and chaos the war caused. As Andor showed with Saw and his speech about the various anti-Imperial factions, one of the reasons it took years for the official Alliance to Restore the Republic to form was because many of those who had cause to hate the Empire and rebel against it were equally opposed to the restoration of the pre-Clone Wars Galactic Republic. I find it really funny, poetically ironic, and deeply saddening all at once that the current sorry state of Star Wars as a real-world business franchise has been so compromised by Disney, who have acted as if they were cosplaying the Trade Federation or Commerce Guild in corrupting something important just to satisfy their own greed and pride.
The Separatists were the precursors to the Rebel Alliance, their ideas, beliefs, and traditions scream Rebellion. Dooku was a good leader and the Separatists if not corrupted by the Sith/Dark Side would have been a force for good!
And that just shows how ingeniously insidious Palpatine’s plan was- turn the movement that stood for genuine change into a parody of the corrupt system it was meant to replace, twist everything around to make them into the villains and then use their destruction to implement a far harsher regime than either the Republic or CIS ever were, crushing any dissent by painting them as traitors and warmongers who only want chaos. Their representatives were only nominally in power, with the Separatist Council made up of heads of various corporate business interests being the actual government (and even they were directly beholden to Dooku and Grievous, who were in turn puppets for Sidious). They instead were totally okay with slavery, genocide, mass exploitation, illiberalism, and effectively dictatorship so long as it made the corporations in charge more money than they were ever allowed to make under the Republic. Sure, some Separatists did think they were reformists who had no choice but to leave a Republic beset by political and economic corruption, but the Separatist government they formed was so much worse from the get-go and, through Dooku, only paid lip service to democracy to get support, just as Sidious did as Chancellor Palpatine. The similarities with the Rebellion are purely aesthetic and Lucas did this intentionally, but never wanting us to think they’re basically the same thing because over and over again Lucas paints the Separatists are rotten to the core with their pro-corporate leadership and interests.

I don’t think Dooku or Grievous, but I agree. Both of those characters are either Dooku or plain evil, but a show about another separatist leader or character that believes in the ideals and cause would be pretty cool.
@kingorange7739 also in many ways, if you think about it, when the Empire (former republic) was defeated by the rebels (many ex CIS fighters), the CIS ended up winning a very bittersweet victory against the Republic in the end.

I can easily imagine a timeline where Dooku left the Jedi Order and peacefully reformed the Republic. Without Palpatine the War didn't happen. Dooku would have helped the people and maybe persuade the chancellor what was really going on and give them ultimatum. If they continue to mistreat the people of the Republic then the Republic will fall and maybe the Jedi Order can be reformed to do better. And maybe after Yoda passes away Dooku may become the next Grandmaster.
The only reason they didn't fall to "fascism" (not using that correctly btw) was because they were already a corporatist oligarchy since the start, any form of "democracy" (republic) they had was a farce

Honestly starting a video about the separatist cause with a quote from Luthen Rael is probably the best artistic choice you could've made. Had he been a character during the clone wars era I don't doubt he'd be a separatist.
The Republic wasn't the Enemy. The Separatist wasn't the Enemy. The Empire wasn't the Enemy. The Rebellion wasn't the Enemy. The First Order wasn't the Enemy. From the start it was always the Emperor holding his grip on everyone, including his government. The people weren't just standing against the Empire, they were standing up against the one who started it from the start.
Wow this was beautiful! I heard that ex: separatists were some of the staunchest supporters of the rebellion. You did a wonderful job of demonstrating that here. You seamlessly integrated the separatists and their desire for independencece and a different kind of government in to the rebellion’s fight against the empire. I loved the clips from Andor and the Bad Batch and even that one bit from Mando.

@@kingorange7739 Not really, the war didn’t come to an end immediately. In canon it continued until the 6th month of 16 BBY. When the last major separatist holdout fell. By then the Republic became the Empire- so the Empire finished the war in the Republic’s place. So technically the Republic didn’t win- it was the Empire that won.

The Separatists did have some legitimate points, but all of it was undermined by the fact that they were led by a Sith Lord, a serial murderer of Jedi and greedy corporate interests.
Indeed. It was good cause that was hijacked by too many bad actors that undermined the good it could have been. Were it not for Sith control, the Separatists would have been in the right.
I wouldn’t really put Grievous in there- I mean he was a pawn too that was spurred on to lead the war effort. But he didn’t know of any ulterior motives- he knew of Sidious and stuff but it wasn’t like he KNEW that he wasn’t supposed to win.

One of the biggest issues I have with the prequel era is that the Separatists are either vilified or lionized without trying to cover them in depth; hopefully this changes in future media.
“To hope.” -Padme Amidala Literally sums up the entirety of what the overarching stories of Star Wars are at their core according to George Lucas and his successors. They are stories dedicated to hope; stories reminding us that even in our darkest of moments hope remains if we just look for it. Great way to conclude such a wonderful video! Great job!

A great edit as always but just one suggestion would be to have included more grievous clips, he was more into the separatist cause than dooku as he knew partly about the plan and that it was just a front.
I didn't include a lot of Grievous because the video focuses on the political aspects of the story and he's mostly in charge of the military. Also, most of his dialogue didn't fit the tone super well.
It's rather unfortunate, how the Corporations of the CIS ended up overshadowing the Seperatists cause overall. The Seps wanted change, but they often had their leadership do things that didn't paint a very good picture Then, the Republic became the Empire many saw it was already becoming. Fixed a few issues, made other issues worse than they already were. Sad thing is, even the Rebel leaders didn't want to associate with Seperatists, and it makes sense cause the Rebellion fought to restore the Republic, one that the Seperatists (the ones still around during the Galactic Civil War) still didn't want around. There were cases of Imperials, Rebels, and Seperatists having 3-way conflicts in some sectors, and that's a wild thing to think about Really, it's a shame. I guess the Republic, with all its faults, would still be better as an organized society rather than the largely independent, numerous systems and alliances that the Seperatists ultimately would've led too, but the fact the Republic couldn't get its act together was what caused the planets to fight and secede...
Actually… separatists really evolved into a rebellion. Why don’t Disney film some game of thrones stuff like that, a bunch of separatists leaders led by Tyranus, who was a sith lord, but they believed in him and were united. But at some point they knew he was bad, and maybe some old clone tells the truth or some survived Jedi had some evidence of it. I don’t know, just film a dude dancing in a darth Vader suit and it will be more likable than stuff Disney may right now
Dooku should've ditched Sidious to make it work, a puppet has no sovereignty to act. Their black and white approach to things is silly and immature, an actual master knows that these are just two sides of one coin and trying to cancel each one will always fail.
People need to watch this and relate it to what we see in real life right now. People need to set aside their petty diffrences, their bigotry, their religion, their race, and their gender idenity, and they need to realize who the real enemy is. The goverment, and the corporations that control it. People need to realize that their power will only grow unless we stop it. sadly insead of having that takeaway people just think about star wars

Glad to be an inspiration! :) I use Adobe Premiere Pro to make these. As for tips, it's hard to mention anything specific but I'd say plan out the narrative of the videos well, pay attention to the rhytm, and be especially careful with audio as I think it's just as important as video. Honestly starting a video about the separatist cause with a quote from Luthen Rael is probably the best artistic choice you could've made. Had he been a character during the clone wars era I don't doubt he'd be a separatist.

The Republic wasn't the Enemy. The Separatist wasn't the Enemy. The Empire wasn't the Enemy. The Rebellion wasn't the Enemy. The First Order wasn't the Enemy. From the start it was always the Emperor holding his grip on everyone, including his government. The people weren't just standing against the Empire, they were standing up against the one who started it from the start.

Wow this was beautiful! I heard that ex: separatists were some of the staunchest supporters of the rebellion. You did a wonderful job of demonstrating that here. You seamlessly integrated the separatists and their desire for independencece and a different kind of government in to the rebellion’s fight against the empire. I loved the clips from Andor and the Bad Batch and even that one bit from Mando.
That ending scene really brought it all together! Palpatine really did create those that would destroy him.
Reminds me of how politics goes in my country, the hope for better future that was crushed again and again during these past 20 years. Still we long for the change. Toast to you, friends.

It is sad that Both The Republic and the Separatists were Pawns in the war, A War that both sides were weakened and so occupied that the Empire snuck up and rose to power and dealt with an enemy who was playing chess rather the both factions were playing checkers, beautiful way to put the Separatists and the rebellion having a common goal, both rebelled because of curruption and hypocrisy
I mean kinda. However the Republic became the Empire. While it’s true both sides were pawns, the Republic did technically win the war.

Not really, the war didn’t come to an end immediately. In canon it continued until the 6th month of 16 BBY. When the last major separatist holdout fell. By then the Republic became the Empire- so the Empire finished the war in the Republic’s place. So technically the Republic didn’t win- it was the Empire that won.

The Separatists did have some legitimate points, but all of it was undermined by the fact that they were led by a Sith Lord, a serial murderer of Jedi and greedy corporate interests.
Indeed. It was good cause that was hijacked by too many bad actors that undermined the good it could have been. Were it not for Sith control, the Separatists would have been in the right.
I wouldn’t really put Grievous in there- I mean he was a pawn too that was spurred on to lead the war effort. But he didn’t know of any ulterior motives- he knew of Sidious and stuff but it wasn’t like he KNEW that he wasn’t supposed to win.

I hold out hope one day we will get a show about separatists becoming rebels. Some old quarren (or really any of the classic alien seps) running around with an e-5c with old battledroids is just a badass vibe. Slap a rebel symbol on that B2 and revel in the freedom

One of the biggest issues I have with the prequel era is that the Separatists are either vilified or lionized without trying to cover them in depth; hopefully this changes in future media.

A great edit as always but just one suggestion would be to have included more grievous clips, he was more into the separatist cause than dooku as he knew partly about the plan and that it was just a front.
I didn't include a lot of Grievous because the video focuses on the political aspects of the story and he's mostly in charge of the military. Also, most of his dialogue didn't fit the tone super well.

It's rather unfortunate, how the Corporations of the CIS ended up overshadowing the Seperatists cause overall. The Seps wanted change, but they often had their leadership do things that didn't paint a very good picture
Then, the Republic became the Empire many saw it was already becoming. Fixed a few issues, made other issues worse than they already were.
Sad thing is, even the Rebel leaders didn't want to associate with Seperatists, and it makes sense cause the Rebellion fought to restore the Republic, one that the Seperatists (the ones still around during the Galactic Civil War) still didn't want around. There were cases of Imperials, Rebels, and Seperatists having 3-way conflicts in some sectors, and that's a wild thing to think about
Really, it's a shame. I guess the Republic, with all its faults, would still be better as an organized society rather than the largely independent, numerous systems and alliances that the Seperatists ultimately would've led too, but the fact the Republic couldn't get its act together was what caused the planets to fight and secede...
The USA is going the same way the Republic did at this rate. Everything will be decided this year.

Actually… separatists really evolved into a rebellion. Why don’t Disney film some game of thrones stuff like that, a bunch of separatists leaders led by Tyranus, who was a sith lord, but they believed in him and were united. But at some point they knew he was bad, and maybe some old clone tells the truth or some survived Jedi had some evidence of it. I don’t know, just film a dude dancing in a darth Vader suit and it will be more likable than stuff Disney may right now
The separatist parliament hadn't a clue. They were as detached from reality as the republic senate.
Dooku should've ditched Sidious to make it work, a puppet has no sovereignty to act. Their black and white approach to things is silly and immature, an actual master knows that these are just two sides of one coin and trying to cancel each one will always fail.

People need to watch this and relate it to what we see in real life right now. People need to set aside their petty diffrences, their bigotry, their religion, their race, and their gender idenity, and they need to realize who the real enemy is. The goverment, and the corporations that control it. People need to realize that their power will only grow unless we stop it.

Hey @SWFT, you've inspired me to make Star Wars videos myself with your great work. I'm still at the very beginning, have made three videos so far and use CapCut for them. Can I ask which programme you use or do you have any tips for creating videos? :D
Glad to be an inspiration! :) I use Adobe Premiere Pro to make these. As for tips, it's hard to mention anything specific but I'd say plan out the narrative of the videos well, pay attention to the rhytm, and be especially careful with audio as I think it's just as important as video. You got this! :D
