  • How to replace a bathroom faucet including how to install a new drain and P trap. Installing a faucet isn't a difficult task and most homeowners should be able to do it with a few basic hand tools. Hopefully this video will give you the confidence to tackle that bathroom faucet installation project you've been putting off.

    You only need a 1/4 turn after hand tightening the supply line to the angle/straight stop. If it leaks you can always tighten it some more. But if leaks because you over tightened, then you're screwed.

    The joint between the two pieces of white PVC is called a slip joint. And while it doesn't use a gasket, I've seen a plumber put pipe dope on it for a better seal.

    I've always used plumber's puddy for the drain. I'm concerned that the silicone will make it really difficult to disassemble in the future.

    This is exactly the model I have at a house. The locking nut is missing. This view is exactly what I was looking for.

    Where'd you get the third nut? I just purchased a P-trap kit and it only has 2 nuts...

    @ 18:00 how come u didnt put any teflon tape/blue monster seal on the threads before attaching supply lines?

      They’re compression fittings. Tape isn’t needed

    Can this unit be taken apart and used as a 3 piece faucet

    • @HomeSource
      @HomeSource  2 года назад

      No. It can only be used as a single unit. 3 piece faucets have a different design.

    Couldn’t you have installed the supply lines to the faucet before you installed the faucet?

    • @HomeSource
      @HomeSource  2 года назад

      I’ve done that before but I think on that one the supply fittings were too large to fit through the holes in the top. Definitely easier to donor that way if space allows.

      I've installed hundreds of faucets. If the supply line fits through before dropping it in, the plumbing gods have truly smiled upon you that day.

    It didn't look like you put any silicon on the rubber gasket under the sink. I've tightened it twice and water comes pouring out. It looks like the rubber and the pressure should do the job. Not sure what is going on.

    • @HomeSource

      You need to put silicone under the lip of the drain assembly that is visible from the top of the sink. That will seal the drain to the sink basin. No need for silicone under the sink.

    So best way is avoid modern Delta faucet. High priced, mediocre quality, lots of plastic & pex. And my favorite leaky sink drain kit. Great! 😮
    Not what we payed for..
