Not sure how his husband ever thought that they were giving the cat up after having taken a twenty hour trip to rescue him. That was never gonna happen.
Geek The Girl not only that but if they were to give him up to another shelter or something he would not get adopted because most people want fully formed functioning cats and like he could get killed because not much space in shelters.

This happened with my former cat. My mom heard about her and something in her gut kept saying *go get this cat.* On the drive home, kitty put her paws in a hug around my mom's neck, and the rest is history.

Most people I know who hate cats, have never really been around or had a cat. Glad you were chosen. I had the same experience at age 7; I was scared of all animals at the time and a stray calico chose me. I finally realized how amazing pets are, especially cats. Now I have my own little fluffers, but she's the jealous type so just one kitty home.
I have the hardest time understanding how anyone could ever hate cats, but then again, I grew up with boatloads of awesome rescued kitties. The only time in my life I've ever been catless was college, and even then I'd walk around the neighborhood to try to find a feline fix. Kitties are my favorite thing about planet Earth!

I love those who rescue pets from being euthanized. All pets deserve to live.
Those who need the most deserve the most. I love this guy for (1) having such a great heart towards this baby and (2) standing up to his husband for the life of this dear creature.
It's murder to kill any animal cause of overpopulation that animal didn't ask to be born. People are overpopulated too what if they had too many kids in their family 😐

My husband knew from day one that my animals are first no matter what and if he had a problem with that then we couldn’t be together. 7 years later we’re still married and still rescuing animals! Never trust someone who doesn’t like animals!!!

I’m allergic to cats. I found a young kitten abandoned at a train station I took a risk and snuck the cat into my house when the sun came up I took him to the closest vet who took care of him they later sent him to an no kill adoption centre where he shortly was adopted by a family with a little girl in kindergarten who is in love with her new furry friend sometimes we have to take risks for our furry friends and it really pays off I helped him find a home and a little girl find her best friend you see a chance to help you take it no exceptions

A boyfriend of mine pulled a similar thing on me years ago. Him: “I wanna go look at this kitten”. Me: “OK, but we aren’t getting another cat, we discussed this.” (We already had one cat and a dog.) - “no, just to look, I promise!”
We go look at the kitten. “Don’t you love him?” he asks me, while I am holding the goddamned kitten, who is purring in my arms. I grumble out a “yes” and of course we took him home. 😂 He was such a good cat that we didn’t even need a carrier, he sat on my lap while we drove home.
Ended up being a totally awesome cat who became friends with the other cat and best friends with the dog. When that guy and I broke up, he offered to let me keep him, but he was a really social animal and separating him from the other cat (which was the other guy’s pre-existing pet) would have been cruel. I assume the cat is still doing well.

A local family had two kittens. Clearly one had an accident and lost rear right leg. Their children tormented the kitten, we’re told, so she voted with her paws and moved in with us and had a lovely life, she was such a character.
There's nothing more beautiful than a man who loves a cat so much he risks in his own happiness to give that cat some love, happiness a second chance at life! ❤️

3 years ago I rescued a 4? month kitten. My mom and my grandma kept saying that I couldn't keep him because we already had 5 cats. I would tell them not to worry "He is for adoption. He just needs a little time to get better". At some point I started to pretend that I wasn't listening them and... 3 years later... I own 6 cats.
I like all of my cats but this one... I am totally crazy about him. Maybe I am being silly but I think there was some kind of instant connection.
He was under a car. He came to me. He put is paw on my leg and looked straight into my eyes. He climbed my leg and... Game Over!!!

That cat would not love on me, she wanted nothing to do with me, always meowed at me (not a happy meow) whenever I came near. A different coworker wanted to trade kittens because "they aren't a fit", so we did. Immediately started getting nose boops, and purrs, and cuddles, as did the coworker with his new kitten. It's been six years and the cat has even decided who the food human is and the play human. 100% agree that you are chosen, you don't pick.

My daughter has 4 kitties! After the 2nd one her boyfriend said "No more cats!" Then after the 3rd one he said "NO MORE cats! Well now after the 4th one he said "NO MORE CATSSSSS!!!!!" Let's see how long that lasts 😉
When I was growing up my dad would say that to my mom after every kitty that found its way to their house. I think at one point we "owned" eight and fed three more in our yard. Later on when they were down to only about four cats my dad insisted on adopting two kittens from a stray mama kitty his co-worker had saved. :D

Fortunately whenever I rescue a new cat from the street my husband stays calm and only says: "That's a cute little kitty. Shall we keep him/her?" He knows this side of me only too well.

I just brought home my ‘definitely not staying here’ foster cat, Georgia a couple weeks ago. She now has a collar with our address on it and is getting all her vet work done 😂 my parents weren’t even mad for that long because they absolutely absolutely fell in love with her lol

when we found our second cat ( kitten that fell in a manhole) my wife was a bit nervous about having a 2nd one, since we were in a bit of a struggle financially, we barely made ends meat at that time. 11 years later and she is still with us living a happy life, and she's a mamma's little angel :) good for this man to stand behind what felt right

I live with my dad. He was like we are not going to get a third cat ... we are not going to get a fourth cat .... we are not going to get a fifth cat .... we are at seven now.
We have 2 cats and my wife always said we weren't having anymore, that was until one day a stray black kitten turned up on our doorstep all skinny and shivering, she soon changed her tune 😊

I did the same thing, a 6 hr round trip to get a 7 week old kitten whose leg was cut off with kitchen scissors on the day that she was born. She had a great will to live. I needed her as much as she needed me. I was going through a real tough time.

Thank you for saving him! Been there and done that myself. Found kitten hanging from a fence by his hind leg. He'd been there awhile & had maggots on him. When I tried to get him out he was so scared & in so much pain, even though I was trying to be as gentle as was possible, he bit through my thumb, nail & all. Got him to the vet but his leg couldn't be saved. Oh how I cried, but he was quite the little scrapper and made a marvelous recovery. After a convalescent period he played with the other cats and acted as if nothing had ever happened to him.
As we already had six cats I put up a flier at the vet's office for a forever home for Tripod". Some really kind young man, who had taken a dog he found in the road to that vet to check for a chip, saw the poster & adopted Tripod.

I was your husband once. My partner saw a cat at the shelter and I said 3 cats makes us weird! I relented and he is still with me at age 20 and the most amazing cat I’ve known.
