When I was little my family had a three-legged cat named Crash! I found him laying in the middle of the street when I was about 9 years old. He was the sweetest cat and I’m so glad my mom was brave enough to run out into traffic to rescue him
Jeannie Russo He lived to be 22 years old and he passed away peacefully in his bed at my mothers house about 10 years ago. He’s buried under his favorite tree in my mother’s backyard. He will always be missed
My cats leg is being amputated because he got hit by a car we thought we were going to have to put him down because we can not afford the costs but a local charity has said they will pay for it and the vets are only charging cost so doing their labour for free he is going into surgery tomorrow!❤️😸💞 I hope he will be ok!!!
Silver Studios he does so well it true what they say cats really only need 3 legs he gets all the fusses around the village and he leaps and runs just like before 😻💖😊
I have a tripod kitty! He's the best! He was found as a stray, badly mauled by another cat, and they fixed him up but the shelter was so overcrowded no one caught that he had an untreated wound on his leg until it was too late and infection had set in. An added bonus of tripods missing their back legs is that they can't jump very high, so it's easy to keep him out of things. I did have to make some minor accessibility tweaks to my living area (stairs up to the bed, making sure I got a cat tree that required no big leaps to get to the highest spot) but they're super easy tweaks and totally worth it to give him a great life. Adopt tripods!
I hope youll see this... it has me wondering how they do (or will do) with the litterbox? Once they become on the older side and that squatting or even arthritis starts in the remaining back leg. how do they manage? Or are you not at this point yet? One of mine hurt her back leg, just a muscular thing, but trying to potty every time would re-injure what she had done. After not long i wondered what she would do if i held her in the litter, putting her down enough to feel the litter but still supporting her weight from underneath her belly area - this helped her fully heal! luckily she understood what i was trying to do seemingly instantly. Took a few weeks of setting alarms and inventing the phrase "I have to go pee the cat" but it was all worth it. I kind of wonder if similar support could be done either via person or device for these tripod kitties once they get older, if squatting is the only issue and theyre otherwise healthy?
@@pawprints1986 Thankfully that's not an issue I've run into so far. He had his leg amputated when the vets think he was approximately four years old, and it's been about seven years since then. So far no signs of arthritis, thank god. He did at one point somehow tweak his remaining back leg to the point he could still walk but tried not to if possible for a couple days, and he still managed to use the litterbox just fine then. So far the only problem the litterbox has presented is that tripods have a much larger turning radius than other cats, so he needs an uncovered, largeish box to be able to turn around in it. And not too much litter, since his balance is wobbly. TBH I don't have a plan if he does develop arthritis, because he also contracted FIV from his assault and as cold as it sounds, I don't expect he'll be around that long. Of course, I've heard FIV+ cats only have a 5-year life expectancy after contracting the virus, and he's still spry and perfectly healthy after seven years, so if I'm very lucky arthritis will be a problem I'll have to solve at some point. I guess I'll have to deal with it when it comes!
I had a tripod cat once who never had trouble climbing things. He'd find a way up even if he had to dig this claws (from both front paws) into something and pull himself up. :)
@@pawprints1986 I had a tripod cat who was elderly before he passed. I never saw him struggle in a litter box - not more than other cats I've seen that old. :)

I got a ramp by my bed and she uses it. Sometimes she has to take a rest
Actually your mistaken. A lot of people do. Like millions. Im an er vet tech and i save animals daily along with the hundreds of staff i work with. Hundreds of vet hospitals in california alone. So your very wrong. Some people wana save people others domt like people and are driven to save animals. No matter what kinda person we are theres a place and need for us all :) educate yourself!
@@vtabch1 You do amazing things too. But sadly not enough do things to help animals. If we had enough people doing rescues, there wouldn't be so many strays. Because of the awareness that catlady/Hannah and many others like Hope for Paws have exposed this problem.... It seems more and more people are actually joined and trying to make a different! Glad to hear you and many others are actually doing something! Hopefully more will join in because of all the rescue videos out there. And yes, I myself have rescued animals too. Keep up the good work!
I have fostered a little tripod before. she came to me scared, needing comfort, as she had had a very hard life before meeting me. she never fully warmed up to the rest of the family, but she was so sweet to me when it was just us. she found a forever home, and i have a feeling she has made a very sweet companion. she did get along well even though she didn’t have a front leg...
My kitten (less than one year old still), was born out in our garage with only three and a half legs (one was a stub, it was there but heavily webbed and useless) and so I took her inside and she ended up getting the stub amputated because the bone was breaking through the skin and it got infected. She is our fastest cat even with just three legs and is so so happy! (Her name is tiger lily) I think the hardest part was her limited freedom for the week after surgery.
Yes, you definitely made the right decision for Jez! Once his fur grows out, I bet a lot of people won't even notice that he has three legs. He is such a little beauty! Thank you for doing right by him! 💞 Oh, and the video at the end with Jez and Emmett sleeping together is EVERYTHING!! 🙌🏼
I'd echo her sentiment about watching an animal go through an amputation like this. I had a dog who had the majority of her lower jaw removed and it was very emotional to watch her be confused and the physical difference of her. She did bounce back well as an 8 year old dog, so pets are resilient and strong
He is the cutest kitty! I think it's likely easier when a back leg is missing rather than a front leg. They adapt either way but missing a front leg I think is harder.
Ruthie goes in for her amputation on Monday (36 hours?). An outside kitten that was abandoned then suffered trauma snapping her femur. She’s a bit older but still a kitten. Now an inside cat for sure. Amazing that she crawled to the guy who has two three-legged dogs. 😂❤️
We adopted a tripawd kitten back in January of 2021. She had a similar story where she was brought to the local shelter with a broken back leg. She did so well with recovery. We named her Princess Zelda and her special power is using her triforce to get into everything!
I've always wanted a 3 legged cat theyre so endearing. Hes such a cute kitty and very... Durable? Cutest tripod ive ever seen! This video made me cry, very hopeful
Every single time I’m watching over your kittens or an animal that’s missing a limb I don’t even notice they’re missing a limb, in fact if you didn’t say he was, I wouldn’t have even guess it until now. Love you Jez stay curious! 💕🐾🤗
So happy to see a tripod cat on here!!!! One of my cats is a tripod!!! His back leg was shot by his last owner, and it had to be removed. So he was a rescue baby, and I love him.
my step mom brought home a kitten who was in bad shape. she was a day old, and her momma had gotten hit by a car and killed. her back right foot had been mangled from the car, and we had to make the decision to amputate the foot at just a day old. we were told she wouldn’t survive. today is her first birthday. i’m so proud of how far she has come, and she is the perfect little tri-pawed kitty!
I have a male Tuxedo who lost a rear leg at an early age. He adapted so quickly that I never had time to feel sorry for him. I have 2 other cats and he is a better climber than both of them. He is so quick that you never even notice his loss of a limb and he can jump very well as his one rear leg is now incredibly strong. He is also a fantastic rat killer so he is in no way handicapped. To anyone with a cat that loses a leg, they are the most resilient and adaptable animal possible and will live a long and fruitful life as well as give much pleasure with their practical quirks.
I’m so excited for kitten season, been watching your vids and reading your books all about fostering!! I am ready as I’ll ever be to help cats and kittens! 💕😊
What a legend! One of our family cats came home with a broken leg at age 10 and had to have it amputated. She didn't let it stop her doing *anything* at all, she was the most loving and determined cat and lived a full life making it to age 16!
He is just adorable!!!! ❤️😍Geez, we've had 2 amputations this past month. I'd say we have 2 a season... They do usually do very well! Thanks for sharing your experience and for the adorable footage.
My favorite foster was a tripod recovering from amputation. Hardest part was giving her medication without being able to hold her due to the amputation site needing to recover. She got adopted about a year ago, and the pictures I see of her on her owner's social media brighten my day every time I see them.
5 months ago I was thinking about adopting a wonderful 3 legged kitty. Kinda afraid I wouldn't manage to take good care of her but then I saw this video. Adopted her and it's the best decision I've ever made 💕
He's absolutely adorable!! :-D And totally agree, the best option was to remove the bad leg. Especially with a kitty that young, you'd never know the difference.
He had to feel so much better after getting rid of that dead leg. I have a tripod kitty too. My Murray lost his front leg when he was only 8 weeks old. He's already been adopted, and please don't say things like that to foster carers!
you're literally so inspiring. how many people would totally devote themselves to taking care of animals? not many. thank you so much for what you do
Actually your mistaken.
^This.
VTAMEOW S. *you’re
Holy crap this is one of the cutest kittens I've EVER seen
I have fostered a little tripod before. she came to me scared, needing comfort, as she had had a very hard life before meeting me. she never fully warmed up to the rest of the family, but she was so sweet to me when it was just us. she found a forever home, and i have a feeling she has made a very sweet companion. she did get along well even though she didn’t have a front leg...
This video goes out to all those people out there with disabilities, from being handicapped to having mental disorders. Jez is your hero.
So glad he got adopted. Happy for him!
Jez is absolutely gorgeous
My kitten (less than one year old still), was born out in our garage with only three and a half legs (one was a stub, it was there but heavily webbed and useless) and so I took her inside and she ended up getting the stub amputated because the bone was breaking through the skin and it got infected. She is our fastest cat even with just three legs and is so so happy! (Her name is tiger lily) I think the hardest part was her limited freedom for the week after surgery.
i just love you you are great lady in the world
Yes, you definitely made the right decision for Jez!
My grandparents recently adopted a 3 yo tripod poodle mix! I'm so excited to meet him soon
Jez is a trooper ❤️🥺👏🏻
Warriorcats101 ._. Super trooper lights are gonna find me
Idek dont ask
Ruthie goes in for her amputation on Monday (36 hours?). An outside kitten that was abandoned then suffered trauma snapping her femur. She’s a bit older but still a kitten. Now an inside cat for sure. Amazing that she crawled to the guy who has two three-legged dogs. 😂❤️
I am going through this now. Was your cat able to go outside again? My cat is 1.5 and an outside kitty. This is a hard decision for us.
He's a Superstar. ♥️
I would love to see him with his fur grown out again. Thanks!
HE IS SOOOOOO CUTE!
Why do you have not 10 million subcribers Already?????? You freaking deserve it!!!
I'm so happy for Jez! I'm sure his quality of life will be so much better now. Happy tails to you lil buddy ❤
That leg looked so scary in the X-rays. Poor little baby angel. Thank you for being there to help him through this and get him up and speeding again 🤗
Jez is seriously the most precious baby I’ve ever seen. I love him so much. Thank you for all you do!
my step mom brought home a kitten who was in bad shape. she was a day old, and her momma had gotten hit by a car and killed. her back right foot had been mangled from the car, and we had to make the decision to amputate the foot at just a day old. we were told she wouldn’t survive. today is her first birthday. i’m so proud of how far she has come, and she is the perfect little tri-pawed kitty!
omg when he's with his little piglet friend, my heart melted 💕💕
i got my cat a new catnip toy today and he nursed a big wet spot in it lol
my friend has a cat with one ear, one eye and three legs (in an accident as a kitten) and he's the happiest kitty ever. his name is Bungle.
So precious!!! My family had a three-legged cat when I was a child and, yes, they get around just fine!!! Thank you for this awesome video!!! :D :)
Oh my lord that cat is beautiful
Just too precious!!! Thank God he has you.
What a legend! One of our family cats came home with a broken leg at age 10 and had to have it amputated. She didn't let it stop her doing *anything* at all, she was the most loving and determined cat and lived a full life making it to age 16!
Awww! He is darling! Thank you for taking care of him! God bless you! ❤️
Beautiful baby boy. You can hardly tell he's missing a leg when he's sitting/lying down.
Kitten lady, you’re an angel from heaven! Your videos always touch my heart!
The last clip of Emmet and Jez was just too much..... could not handle the cuteness!!!!
He is just adorable!!!! ❤️😍Geez, we've had 2 amputations this past month. I'd say we have 2 a season... They do usually do very well! Thanks for sharing your experience and for the adorable footage.
This is just cuteness overload, especially with the little 🐷 piggy 😻 OMG Animals are Amazing and Beautiful All of them
Love your heart Hannah. Thank you for helping the babies.
My favorite foster was a tripod recovering from amputation. Hardest part was giving her medication without being able to hold her due to the amputation site needing to recover. She got adopted about a year ago, and the pictures I see of her on her owner's social media brighten my day every time I see them.
He’s gorgeous! Glad he is living the best life.
5 months ago I was thinking about adopting a wonderful 3 legged kitty. Kinda afraid I wouldn't manage to take good care of her but then I saw this video. Adopted her and it's the best decision I've ever made 💕
Love Jez’s hop as he gets around and he’s so beautiful. (Him nursing on anything was so cute)
He's such a beautiful and pretty kitty! Just look at that face! Precious! 💜💜🐈
I love him so much!
,awww I hope he gets adopted!!!! I want him but I live in Canada with my parents!
His leg was shattered and had a gaping infected wound. Once we got that bad leg off, there was no stopping him. He's almost 12 now. Good job Jez! You're a warrior!
😂❤️❤️ his little bald spot kills me! He’s such a floof and then BAM short hair ha!
Thank you for this video, even 3 years later.
You are an absolute inspiration.
OMG! That little face!! My heart just melted all over the floor!!
Been watching Jez's story developing on instagram & I'm so glad he found you 💕 Such a beautiful little lad. Congrats on his adoption!
You are truly a cat's BEST FRIEND, MOM, LOVE.
Aww, they’re so sweet! ❤️
My friend sent me this right after i told him my cats leg had to be amputated today. She had fallen off somewhere and tore the ligaments in her knee. Shes 2 years old and i cried when i saw her. Seeing this really helped
I have a tripod girl named Maggie. She entertains my parents everyday with her daily zoomies. The only issue she has is the litter flinging lol
My four legged cats fling their litter to.
His floor makes up for his missing leg. What a cutie!
