Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Hi Rob, great work for the foundation! One of the best videos on how to build a deck. Very clear instructions and has all the details you need!
Thanks so much for these detailed lesson plans.
Great video! Entertaining and full of good tips! Oh, and I love the posts incorporated into this deck! Adds some vertical interest.
Such a lad. Bloody great tips
Nicely done team!
Plenty of tips combined together for an overall comprehensive tutorial. Thumbs up.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
This video starts with the base/foundation already in place. Is there a previous video showing how to construct the base?
A nice patio, look good
That's a beautiful deck! Nice. 😀
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Thx Rob great tips for us weekend wood butchers.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Some good tips. Not a fan of fascia boards though. Creates a vertical gap for water to collect and rot. Prefer a picture frame border overlapping the end joist by 20mm or so to create a sill.
I so cant wait to give my deck a go, cheers.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
deckings come along way since 2016
I love your energy 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Omg nice shorts!!
Thanks for great video. Do you have video how to do post up . Thanks
this is great!!!! I'm gonna save some cash and do this in our front yard. thanks mate
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Good video.
What are the dimensions of the decking boards?
PERFECT
That's awesome! When are you guy's going to build one for the men's refuge?
Excellent work! Will you be doing more videos like this soon?
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
(maybe)
What length decking screws are recommended?
This deck looks great...
...up until it rots from no air flow to displace the buildup of moisture.
Late to the party but how did you calculate the depth of the scribing out? I can only assume to measure the "gap" of the parallel board + board/board gap?
What brand are those bean bag looking seats.
Nice one Palmer ;)
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for Watching
Will having this deck resting on the ground be problematic with regard to moisture not having a place to escape with no air flow underneath?
Great vid mate, what do you recommend spacing the decking boards at? 5mm? Cheers
What have you got as bolsters? You didn't mention that before putting the joists on
This is an awesome build. I need my deck to be really low to the ground...has anyone heard of tuffblocks? They look like they'd do the trick.
I've seen a video of them, it looks so convenient using tuffblock.
tasty too! :)
Oh look!! It’s Ben Askren’s brother!!
🤣
GREAT JOB GUYS! Now just to be equal because , you know,... equality. Build a bad ass man cave/BBQ, Sports bar, 5 65" TV viewing area, outdoor deck!
I have to say millimeters make sense! Everything is in 10's as it should be. I'm an American and I find our Metric system silly
Agreed 100%, The Metric System is time-saving & therefore labour & money-saving & has many benefits in terms of learning style, capacity & ability/disability. One small thing, by using mm, we are using "THE Metric System", you use "a system of metrics" called The Imperial System ... but you are absolutely correct, the rest of the world agreed with you over 50yrs ago & gave Imperial the boot, but America refused to change, costing itself & all of its commerce partners ever since, a fortune. Not to mention the disadvantage & distress caused to people who are numerically challenged or learning disabled, being forced to calculate 32nd, 64th &128th parts of an inch, when mm are already written on the tape measure or rule, with no calculation required. Your Mr Carter tried to explain all this waste, loss & disadvantage in the 80s or thereabouts & asked that USA reconsider The Metric System. He was made to look like an idiot & told no. After 50yrs , though, I'd imagine there must now be bounds of evidence proving in his favour, wouldn't you?
Since when did U.S. change from Cubits to Imperial? Sometimes I just feel like I'm living under a rock.
Do you mean the imperial measurement system that works in inches, feet, yards and miles.
Edit: Cause that's the system that America, Liberia and Myanmar use. The Metric system is used by every other country. The Metric system works millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), meters (m) and kilometers (km) in terms of distance measurement in the two systems. Both of these systems serve the same purpose but do it in different measurement types
That song at 5:55... :)
can you build a deck over an existing cement patio?
linda shaw For sure. And probably easier than without out one. You already have a foundation so you just need to attach your support posts to the base.
music name please? :) i am guessing silent partner as i have heard this before..
Crocodile Hunter builds a deck..."whaaat a beuuuuuuty."
Making this deck, looks like a piece of cake to you...😁
what kind of wood is that? looks like Acacia?
Like he said in the video "This is Spotted Gum", a native Australian hardwood of the Eucalypt family (Eucalyptus Maculata/ Corymbia Maculata). We have thousands upon thousands of different varieties of Eucalypts here & almost 1,000 varieties Acacias too. They're different species, but they're both native Australian hardwoods with many similarities, good for outdoor work & often needing no treatment
Why do you need the pink string when you can just butt the first board up to the two nails?
Some fucking good tips there dude!
The string line is just tied around two nails, why not just use the two nails to line up the first board?
lol he must of had some cones before he thought that one through. his nails governed his starting point.
It ensures that there is no bow in the timber. If there is then you follow the string line for the first board and the rest will be straight if you use spacers.
@@skyegeorge9528 All you have to do is sight down the board and start off with a straight one. May also add that this guy acts like a big baby- His skills are not that great- but he thinks he's great- how pathetic.
@@davem1658 wtf?
@@earthlymatters888 what don't you understand? Am I speaking chinese? Are you a moron? only a fuckhead would say that and not elaborate themself. go back to school so you can understand the written word.
Good video. Shame he didn’t show the initial part of the construction...
You didn't put any flashing over the joists.....
nice roast
Lol
Guy Sebastian come out from nowhere starts singing.. he's a bit of a deck yeah?

I think you're good little
At 1:24 Are his shorts too tight...
You can go to woodprix if you would like to make it yourself guys.
Like a butch Aussie Mike Dilger with hair!
You don't need 2×2 ...
Nice legs!
So using H4 sleepers as the base because it is in contact with the ground?! H4 sleepers do not have a structural rating for building a deck. Fail
This Aussie is crazy as tits

I looked at this guy first and thought he looks exactly like guy sebestian 😂
Well this is a woman looking at building a deck, haha you made that look sooooo easy but but geeeeeeeee 😂😂😂
A great video if you turn the sound off.
That's a bit harsh mate.
Nice deck but the deck was put together already u just did the boards. U didn’t show how the foundation was done, how the 4x4 post was put in the ground or anything.🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
He’s hot
I found a project for it on stodoys website.
Maybe this should be renamed “Tips when building a deck”……
I have a couple of questions... Guys got a what? A great big shiney what? Congratulations Guy but no-one likes a show off!
Dude your not a professional lol
Christ that aussie accent is a cringe-fest.
