I’ve seen a lot of bull shit decks that are easily done, lazy craftsmanship. Though this video is a little on the advanced side. This is a legit deck. It really doesn’t get much better than this. It was brilliantly laid out. No chatter. No dumb music. Thanks for sharing this. I’ve watched over 30 videos tonight and this is the one.

I found the chapters in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU to be very relevant to my project as I embarked on building my first ever structure from the ground up. I especially found this Ryan’s Shed Plans to be of great use when it came to building the roof. I was able to do all the cuts and installation by myself, with a little reference to this Ryan’s Shed Plans.

Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds ruclips.net/user/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

I started my deck about 2 weeks ago following this video and oh my god I feel like superman! Super easy to follow and while it will take some time (5 foot woman with not much for strength) for me to finish, I'm very excited! I've gotten more help with the sections I don't feel comfortable doing and I'm having someone build the stairs for me since I don't even want to attempt that and mess up what I've done. This is tiring work but has been worth it already. THANK YOU!!! Anybody that thinks you can't do this, you're more than wrong! You can! And you will! So satisfying!

Tip for those building a deck.. Increase the beam size using a free beam calculator like forte, increases the distance it can span unsupported.. Then you don't have to dig as many footings. Cost is usually a wash. Great video!

Very good demonstration of how to build a "floating" deck with no ledger board connection. Makes it easier because you don't have to worry about properly sealing/flashing the ledger which a lot of people don't get right. I would much rather dig extra footings than use a ledger connection.

Pretty good video. Bonus for telling people to let the wood season before coating with anything. One issue though, in all my years of construction the one thing an inspector will tell you to correct, is the lack of gap in the decking. You could be fishing those boards out of the ocean, but it's still better to finish nail as a spacer to avoid a headache.

Wow someone that knows what they are talking about. I'm in the trade and I laugh at 90% of the videos I watch. You are very informative and thorough. I enjoyed the video, great work!

If your in the trade then you should know this deck is very cheap and half assed lmao

I agree I'm in the trade and this is the standard way to build a deck and it's very well explained except for the Hangers wich are unnecessary

    lol...building permit. Thats cute.

I hated every time he said "code" and "permit". Ok, lets call the inspector to see if this is secure. Worst case is you break a leg if you fall but that's solely your responsibility of using a deck. You can opt to not use it xD

@@scientist100 I dont know what part of florida he lives in but in my area its a fat ass fine. I cant get rid of my trees without having to ask permission and I have to replace them with another tree.
He prolly just wants to make sure so a 5k fine doesnt show up at his house.

scientist100 I mean.... he isn’t going to make a video and say that he doesn’t care if you follow code. Someone watching could come back saying they watched his video and something could come back on him for false information. And since he recorded building it, he could’ve been fined if they reported the video not following major safety requirements

To be fair, if its unpermitted, you're gonna have a tough task selling it. You are gonna have to demo it before it would qualify for most financing. The value a PERMITTED deck adds to your home value, offsets the ass pain to get it.

Almost all cities have permit requirements to build a deck. Decks 200sq ft or larger and/or attached to the house require a permit

I'm not in the construction bizz anymore, but its always great to revisit memory lane. Highest I've built is a 2 story house. Wish I had the chance to build a concrete slab warehouse/building before I left, but watching a deck getting built is fine.
