Leica really has that magic of image quality. It turns Kai's usual mediocre photos into something instantly likeable/leicable.
I have using the camera for 2 years with various TL lenses and mostly with the attachable viewfinder, which unfortunately somewhat reduces the camera 's very beautiful optics. The autofocus ist not very fast, but you still get excellent pictures. For me, the TL2 is the most beautiful camera ever made.

I hope you'll revisit the Yi M1 soon. They've been steady at it with firmware updates and it should behave a lot better now. The price has also gone down a bit.

Hi Kai, Many Thanks for another good review. TL2 is a fun camera but...... whilst its siblings CL and SL support the "exposure preview" on/off selection, it is not the case with TL2. This means TL2 can fire any manual flash but you will not be able to see what you are shooting when you set the A/S/ISO to match your manual flash's power. If you want the pleasure of looking and focusing on what you are shooting, you will have to pay for those very expensive Leica labelled flashes (like Leica SF40). Leica don't make flashes themselves. Leica SF40 is a Chinese made Nissin i40 with add on Leica TTL circuitry. The former is selling at £380 and the latter £78 in the UK. TTL flashs are usually quite unpredictable. Leica TTL is definitely unique and bring the unpredictability to a different level. Paying £300 for a feature that I don't need or use is heartbreaking. Come on Leica, please update your TL2 firmware and add that exposure preview on/off switch to this beautifully designed camera.

I visited Bath in 2009 during deployment, only got to spend a day there, but it was really fun, wish I could have spent more time there.
Two questions... im looking at this in 2022... does it support focus peaking and how good/readable is the LCD in bright sunlight?

Not Kai, but I don't think it's 'better' than an X-T2, if we're only comparing them spec-wise. Unless you're planning to buy it just for the sake of having a Leica, I think it's better to go for an X-T2. I think if you want a compact Leica, I'd say it's better to save up some more for a Leica Q, though.
With Fuji, you will never get that Leica look aka punchy, contrasty images. Just try it yourself. I use XT-1 before and never upgraded to x-T2 because i dont see improvements other than more megapixel.

This camera is awesome. I recently reviewed the older original T and it still kicks the butt of many if not most cameras.
Now I don't feel about about still shooting my Pentax K-01 and Limited 20-40 f2.8-4. Same "no-viewfinder" setup and insane IQ.

Hy, there is a mistake in your video. at timecode 6:44 you sayd that the TL2 has a in Body Stabilasation. i've bought the TL2 at April 2022 and the Camera dosen't have a Stabilastion!. When you buy a Lens with have a Stabilation, than there is a Stabilasation in the Lens, but not in the Camera.

hey kai. in london for a couple days. actually went to Bath day after you appeared. Wish i took a pic with ya. But anyways, any good camera shops that can sell me an extra eyecup for my a6500?
Too bad about the weather blow out. For me I love the concept of the TL, its kind vanguard of minimalist controls realized through a flexible touch screen. But the price is breathtaking and the slow zooms lack IS, grr. Makes the X-T20 look like the deal of the century.

Cooph strap. Leica sells them for about $100, can be had for about $60 directly. They're made from climbing rope, very nice finishing work on them.

You say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating - you could have taken some photographs of pudding. That would have worked well in the rain. I approve of pudding.

Kai, when you compare colour and tone curve, you need to do it on cameras that have calibrated profiles. Use a tool like those provided by XRite to generate a custom camera profile that you can load in ACR.

Alas I take a working dual-pixel focus 1080p footage over shitty autofocus and 4k footage.
Still better than my 80D, that dynamic range and still image quality is just great as you certainly would hope so from a camera twice as expensive. Still, for "just" $2000 this Leica looks rather nice. Super light, great image quality, great dynamic range and low light performance. Most likely better in that regard than even Canon's 6D Mark II … nice, light, mirrorless camera. Pricy though and naturally it lacks all those buttons and controls of the DSLR bodies.

Normally I like the Leica aesthetics but I think they overdid it on the TL2, It looks like a chunk of aluminum mated with an Iphone.
Which I guess is a step up from just being a chunk of aluminum like you said.
