As a homemade soap maker for about a year. I still love coming back to your videos for information. I appreciate you sharing your experience with so many of us.
Thanks for the tips, Karen. The top about the warm water is really important, because I always think that if you're going to add a cold water mix to your batter that is heating up with the lye etc that you are not going to get it to mix properly unless you do a lot of stirring and sometimes that's not possible when your batter is setting up fast. This is why we need you, Karen, you have such a wealth of knowledge and experience xx Linda
I’ll try the hot/warm water mixture. What I have found is if you don’t use enough TD that this also causes they “streaky” appearance. I also believe that is has to do with some fragrances. Mind you it does give and “olde world” crackle to soaps. Especially one I make. (Wish I knew how I did it to make sure I do it always for this soap. Lol)
Thanks for the tip Karen. I've suffered the crackle effect, and whilst not always unattractive, I do want the option to control how the soap will look. I'll definitely be focusing on the mixing next time I use it.
I appreciate everything but I was wondering if you could maybe show us a tutorial on how to premix a certain amount for usage I would greatly appreciate it and thank you so much for your time and your hard efforts
Hi, I'm having trouble at the moment with chalky titanium dioxide. I came across your video and I'm going to try this next time. Fingers crossed! Thanks for your videos
We had a conversation about using tap water in one of the FB soaping groups I'm on. I was amazed that over half the people who commented use tap water. I've always used distilled.
Yippee!!! Another Eden's Secret video!!! Thank you so much for this tip Karen. I used quite a bit more td than I normally use in the soap I made yesterday, and there is the crackling, or crazing, or whatever they call it. I will try your tip next time.
Great video ty so much for all your support and help it means so much that you care enough and have cared to help people and teach people how to do things you're just amazing and you mean a lot to so many if us again ty for all your hard work and dedication 🥰💞💖💗
Thanks so much pretty lady I will try again! I have 2 fragrances with high vanilla and the soaps come out an ugly brown can I use this the make them white and I want a portion of it purple, or is it a lost cause when using these types of fragrances!?
Love love love you Karen, and thajk you for your videos. I was wondering if you use a water discount so there isnt too much water causing the soap to need a longer cure/drying time, or need to stay in th3 the mold to set up longer
I am new to soaping and have also had problems with TD. I also tried mixing it with water but still am having issues. Do you discount your lye water for the water that is mixed with the TD?
Florence Parker double the water to TD. Example, 2 tsp TD is 4 tsp water. I actually add my TD to the lye water. It's very hot and will mix well, but your whole batch will be lightened so you may have to add extra color/mica to the non white parts. You could also microwave or boil the water and mix the TD separately in a container if you don't want the whole batch whitened. Just make sure it's really hot.
Well here I am stalking you again pretty. I just made a beautiful soap and yes... I got the crackling. What a pain. I could swear I mixed it well. Well, talk with you soon!
hi. sorry am all confused. am only starting to learn soap making. watched a lot of videos. everyone so far says never use tap water. can you help please.
Tap water has trace minerals in it which can inhibit lather in a finished soap. I always use filtered water for my main batch, but often use tap water to mix my oxides. This is just because it's less fuss, and I believe that small amount of tap water won't make a difference in a 2lb batch.
I'm not familiar with the oil based TD, but my guess would be 2 oil to 1 TD, so yes, that would be 1 cup oil to half cup TD. But better you check with someone who does the oil version. Does Soap Queen TV do this anybody?
***** Titatium Dioxide has shown links to Chroma, IBS and Respitory Lung Disease to name a few. Don't forget our skin is our largest organ in our bodies. And it's the bodies 1st line of defense. Titanium Dioxide if in soap will be easily absorbed into the body through the skin and it's made easier from our pours opening from washing w/ hot water. I would think if your making the effort to make your own soap you probably care about your body more than the average person. Point a little sparkle isn't worth the added strain put on your bodies immune system.
Justin Soga That's the truth. Pretty much everyone I've met knows this now. Sadly, most don't care & just like the look of it. I stopped using it all together. I use to be a makeup artists, so I really did a life purge. I hope more people stop using it but most won't.

Thanks for the tip. I've often wondered why more people didn't see those streaks on the side of the containers. It really is a good idea.

Thanks so much pretty lady I will try again! I have 2 fragrances with high vanilla and the soaps come out an ugly brown can I use this the make them white and I want a portion of it purple, or is it a lost cause when using these types of fragrances!?
+Shelita Williams Try Vanilla Color Stabilizer. It works to keep soaps their color when using fragrances with vanilla in them,
Love love love you Karen, and thajk you for your videos. I was wondering if you use a water discount so there isnt too much water causing the soap to need a longer cure/drying time, or need to stay in th3 the mold to set up longer
Does the extra water added to make the white colour affect soap recipe in any way.
Thank you sooo much I am just starting mixing colors andTD so all tips help! I have td says mix with oil. Would you hear the oil then and mix TD
The TD you use is it Water Dispersable or Oil Dispersable?
Can I use stainless steel to make my cold process soap that contains lye
Another great tip from an awesome soap maker thanks for sharing Karen x
My td is for oil. Should I mix it with warm oil?
Thank You Ever So Much for these Great Tips!! I am about to order my 1st bag of TD. So excited to try it this way❣❣🤗💖🌠
TY for the tip about the hot water. Brilliant!
Good to see you back :) thx Wendy
Hi thank you for you video, how much td do use with the water
I use Zinc Oxide instead and Tap water
Does TiO2 work only with oils ... or can I get it to change the color of organic additives too (like fruit purees for instance).
Thanks for this advice Karen, is there a specific type of TD I should buy? I will try this later :)
I would like your TD measurements please.
I am new to soaping and have also had problems with TD. I also tried mixing it with water but still am having issues. Do you discount your lye water for the water that is mixed with the TD?
Thanks, i haven't seen a spoon like that but i will be looking for one.
How much water to the TD and does that mess up the soap mix adding water. really need to know

Seems so simple!!! Thanks Karen!!
How much should be used? How does one know how much to use please? Thanks!
Well here I am stalking you again pretty. I just made a beautiful soap and yes... I got the crackling. What a pain. I could swear I mixed it well. Well, talk with you soon!
I love your accent! Great video thank you!
What a great tip! Thanks Karen.
forgot to pre-mix the titanium and mixed it directly in the soap mixture, Can it be used like that? Thank you
tlalc12 yes...just cosmetic. TD is used in a lot of food and medicine products...harmless.
Do you always mix the TD in water or is Oil ok?
I am confused. How many parts water to TD ?
Do you discount the water from the recipe?
hi. sorry am all confused. am only starting to learn soap making. watched a lot of videos. everyone so far says never use tap water. can you help please.
You'll get there Catherine

the is a lot of chemicals in tap water so i would boil distilled water or boil the water 1st or filter it but thanks 4 the tips :)
thanks Karen. that helps a lot!
Thank you Karen for sharing this tip- you're amazing! :)
Love everything you do & missed your videos.

Very informative indeed. 🤗🤗
Where can I buy titanium dioxide?
It was such a pretty color before. Why add the titanium dioxide?
Melissa Bush I really like the look of TD xx
***** Personal preference, makes sense...

Melissa Bush seems to be that way w/ most things. People like instant gratification and will deal with any repercussions later.
Thanks, love your work!
Thank you so much for your help. :D!
Thank you so much! Very helpful!!!
Thanks so much..
the tap water could be messing up all your soaps... should only use distilled... and its better to dump the oxides in a light oil..not tap water
she uses water dispersed td. that's why she uses water
you know i learned the other day there are two different types of TD! so that makes a lot more sense now =}
thank you
you are welcome
I'm sorry. This is no help at all. How much water? How much TD?
Awesome!!! Thanks Karen :-)
Please please please wear gloves
louise lill I've been soaking for 5 years and never wear gloves. I've had the soap all over my hands after the lye has been mixed in.
Lye really isn't that dangerous! You'll notice the sting if you get it on you, just wash off!
I never wear gloves,never had a problem.not even goggles
@@blulumwaquepajoo7158 I'm ashamed to say it, but neither do I.
