Awesome comparison/run on both awesome trucks B ! They run just as excellent on or off road and I really do like the off road run they were both tearin up the ground nicely lol ! Thanks for the share and awesome comparison/tutorial brother as always !
I was originally shopping for a V2 but it wasnt at my LHS or online at the moment. But my LHS had the V1 with the Widemaxx kit for only $450. I had to get it. I also got the LEDs, the CVDs, and more. I might convert it to a V2 later. But for now Im experimenting with different diff fluids to get the handling I want.
O yeah, that is a really good deal! The Maxx is a really good truck! And with the wide kit your all set! When you get a chance, try to pick up some sledgehammers too!!🤙
I would, I kinda think Traxxas went about it the wrong way with this one, don’t get me wrong the truck is awesome but I feel like this is how it should have been built to begin with, seems like they may be trying to “double dip” if you will, that’s why I courage people to instead add the “upgrades” instead of buying a whole new truck if you already own the Maxx, they are built pretty much the same once the wide kit and tires are installed, I hope This isn’t a new trend with Traxxas, I don’t want them being like Arrma and coming out with 5 versions of the same truck lol, nothing against Arrma, just saying
@@rcreviews9894 1.5 NZ$ = 1.0 US$ The original Maxx is $1100 (NZ$) locally. Same price as an Arrma Notorious. Arrma 3s cars cost $730 here in NZ. Traxxas pretty much price themselves out of the New Zealand market, Arrma have the lion share because they are just such better value. If this V2 is $1250 which it is likely to be it will be hard to choose. The MT8 should be around $1000 locally so all will be considered. Edit - for context the XMaxx cost $2150 here
Yeah I totally forgot about it to be honest, I guess I kinda assumed they were the same gearing, so now I’m thinking maybe it’s geared down because of the different tires? I did A size comparison between the stock Maxx tires and the V2, they are almost identical in size and width, the V2 tires stand a little bit taller because of the tread pattern, when I say a little bit, I really mean barely, we are talking a mm or two, very little difference
Next comparison...E-Revo or X-Maxx?? I have been looking hard at the X-Maxx, I love the monster truck look and driving characteristics, but it may just be a little too big (both to run and to store), and it's quite a bit more $ than the E-Revo..
I’ve got a few things lined up, but I have a video titled “My top 5 Traxxas Rc’s Gift Guide 2021 that features both the Xmaxx and the Erevo here on the channel, along with others, check those out when you get a chance!
You're absolutely right, TRAXXAS made it right with the MAXX V2. They made us pay for an upgrade that was a fix, not an upgrade. And for that I'm still ticked at them. Almost $250 for the fix, that's just wrong!!!
I wouldn't have wanted to wait for v2. I do normally use the wide-kit along with proline belted bandlands but I do find the shorter arms better/handy for smaller area's/tracks and I like having the option of making my truck handle differently for different situations/terrain.
You keep saying wider footprint and longer chassis? The width is the same correct, just a longer shoe size right? Imo the shorter maxx (v1) looks more like a sport monster truck. The v2 kinda looks like a long bed Chevy instead of a true to scale monster truck.
A more aggressive tread pattern on monster truck tires is obviously gonna handle better on off-road terrain but that wasn’t the whole point, this is part 2 of my comparison video and in part 1 I get more into detail about the tires, you see the main problem I have with the stock Maxx tires is the ballooning, that combined with a flatter less aggressive tread, I think is one of the main contributors to the traction rolling, I explained this in my other video and in the Maxx V2 maiden run, a perfect example to explain what I’m talking about would be the Arrma big rock, it has a longer chassis and wider suspension but because the tires ballon out like dinner plates, that truck traction rolls like crazy even with the wider suspension and longer chassis , so you see tires do have a lot to do with it, believe it or not, I also did a video with just the sledgehammer tires on the Maxx and we saw big improvements, not only on fast straight aways on the street but also off-road, it traction rolled way less! Less ballooning equals an overall more stable truck especially when making fast turns
I have heard that the v1 is more fun bc its Harder to drive and it does flips and wheeles better then the v2. And it looks more like a monster truck then the v2
To be honest they are both really awesome trucks! The Maxx made my top 5 this year on my holiday gift guide video! They both wheelie on command, the Maxx wheelies easier and back flips easier because of the shorter chassis and the tires that balloon out but on high speed straight aways forget it, the Maxx becomes very unstable at high speeds and yet it can traction roll going 5mph into a turn lol, I’m not sure about a truck being more fun because it’s harder to drive, especially when it’s a flaw in design, the Maxx V2 is far superior in handling on road and off
@@rcreviews9894 Thanks i have a v1 with the wide kit on so think i m just gonna keep it. But i have also thought about selling the maxx and Get a erevo 2.0. Which one do you like the best ?
@@usdennis1236 yes keep it! Don’t sell your Maxx! Lol, you must not have watched my video to the end lol, the answer to your question is at the end of my video lol
In Part1 of the comparison video, we did the speed run for both of these trucks, the Maxx hit a top speed of 53mph and the Maxx V2 a top speed of 51mph, technically the Maxx is faster but not by much
@@Raptorman386 did you see the part in this video where I compared the tire size? They are pretty much the same size, the Sledgehammers appear to be slightly taller because of the more aggressive tread pattern, the tread on the Maxx tires are flatter, not as deep, it’s like comparing trenchers to badlands
I’m just saying I have both as well and v2 is slower out of the box but if you run the same gears in both trucks they are the same speed. Also I just went up to the 60+mph gearing and it’s a monster 👍🏼
@@TurnerBrittain so what gearing are you running now? I don’t even know what the stock gearing on the Maxx V2 is now that I think about it lol, I’m not really worried about making it faster though, it’s fast enough for what I want, is it just me or does the V2 kinda remind you of the E revo the way it handles?
@@rcreviews9894 I have the recommended gearing that is on the box I can’t remember what it is off the top of my head. But it does pull 60-62mph and it wicked fast. Plus it’s way more durable that the erevo, at least in my experience.
I was waiting for someone to catch that!!!!
