As someone who is a huge fan of the original trilogy and CTR, my biggest concern is adding too much new 'stuff' that makes it take away from the simplicity (for lack of better word) of the original trilogy. Warped had the perfect amount of skills/powers and collectibles (gems, time trial relics, crystals), and I was worried that adding more to this would become too much. With that said, I am for sure buying this game as it does look like it keeps the 'feel' of the original trilogy.
@@poly_g6068 Dude, Crash 3 has so many different playstyles. I have no idea why this one would feel cramped in comparison. Also the flame crates take up less time than bouncing on bouncy wumpa crates in the original 1 and 2 for reference.

I kinda disagree with the 100% thing you said. Personally as somebody who 100% all Crash games before, I see the 100% in this one as kinds stupid specifically when you want the Platinum Throphy. I feel the requirements are quite unbalanced and that even Crash 1 and Crash Bash were much more fair then this XD

Your whole comment about the mask and flipping it too much made little sense. You can only flip the mask once to leave the current ground and once more to readjust back, otherwise you would need to touch the ground again. There is no flying with it. Dingodile can jump just as much as Crash, and I am pretty certain he runs no slower. No person has gotten everything in this game yet, so that isn't true. Also, as was pointed out in the comments below, the game pretty much tricks or outright makes you die in a lot of the bonus rooms. So if someone was coming in expecting a fair game you will have let them down. You kept talking like there are more than four masks, or that there are multiple time masks specifically. Dying a lot on the last levels does not make them bad, you would need to provide some evidence to say they are bad. This is assuming that is what you meant with the death counter and mask flipping point. Lastly if you say 95% of the levels are good, I would like for you to explain a bit about what makes them bad. If you want it too be assumed that the hard levels are bad then it would be better to make more than one draft of your script, so I am not guessing based on your poorly constructed points. I would consider this a first impressions video, and absolutely nothing close to a brutally honest review.
Some advice to anyone who wants to play it. Don’t bother trying to collect gems. There’s way too many and it’s really spoiling my play through. When you have to break 400 boxes and miss one.... not exaggerating. The levels are way too long and the difficulty is much harder than the original trilogy. Though I am playing without the yellow enhanced shadow ring and that would probably make it easier if I turned it on.
22 years for a sequel to Crash 3. Does that mean we will finally get Rayman 4 in 2025?! Maybe? C'mon Ubisoft, no one wants AC no more. Forget modernity. Embrace tradition.
I can't even go through the levels, getting all all the boxes is completely unachievable. Crash Bandicoot 4 is just too difficult. It should be easier and available to more people, like the older games were. This is just too much - not fun.
when i played this for the first time , i didnt feel it the way that i wanted, somehow old school crash had something that i didnt find it in this game
The gameplay would be fast and exciting if it didn't make you waste time smashing every single crate especially the ones you have to repeatedly bounce on, the games even grade you on how many you got/missed in a level........ kills the pacing....
I died quite a lot playing the N Sane Trilogy but here it's just ridiculous. Still though it's weird when I was young I found dying a lot too much but now? now I just take it in my stride. This game to me was well worth the wait and I really REALLY hope they decide to make a new Spyro game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and possibly PC and Switch too.
After you said playing for 12 hrs i started laughing....i barely have time to play 30 mins a day... I no longer have that much time to waste. Now my daughter enjoys my collection ( over 1500 games)
If you play half an hour a day, this relatively short game should last you a while. Why would you want to finish the game as soon as possible? Just enjoy it during your free time at your own pace
Can't wait to play this tonight! Great review, and the music isn't a big deal for me bc I usually listen to my own music while playing these games anyway
Sly Cooper 5 or at least a fucking remake I hope sucker punch or Sony hears the fans prayers because some of us are full grown men who want a game but that’s not so childish as 4 was
My only 2 main complaints were this (SPOILERS): 1. Loading times. It could take anywhere from 40 sec-1 min to load a level (I timed it while streaming). That gets really annoying when restarting for perfect runs or trying to get a flashback tape. 2. Boss Fights. N Gin was such a good boss fight. But the rest seemed wayyyyy too easy. I was most disappointed with N Tropy. I thought for sure there was gonna be a phase 2 coming after the beginning, and then it just ended. That's it though. Everything else was so damn good. a 9 out of 10 sounds right to me!

This game was better than I expected it to be. Gameplay and level design are really good. I love the hidden gems. We got a lot of levels and they are very long. Graphics are good but not gorgeous which is a shame it could've been so beautiful with better lighting and texture details and little bit more realistic colors. Music is good but not gorgeous either, they went with Crash 1 type of music which doesn't make itself very noticeable but blends in very well, I personally prefer Crash 2 and 3 type of music which is more present and entertaining and sometimes very immersive as they use some animal sounds in the distance in the music.
I have to stop beating myself up for not 100% every level on the first try on a game I never played before. I'm just so used to the originals that I forgot I have them memorized.
Compare the music to twinsanity. They should've done their own vibe to show that there not trying to hard to inspire the naughty dogs version. But the soundtrack in this game was okay.
This is so refreshing to hear that this game keeps spirit of original while inventing more fun ways to play it i'm so hyped for this game man and i'm glad based off what you experienced that they delivered on all fronts its good to know i can still for now trust toys for bob as developers. So true. For example, the original robo cop is an awesome movie, but the remake sucks ass compared to it. On the other hand, going from the old graphics of the first 3 crash games to the n sane trilogy is a massive improvement.
That's just a lazy excuse because they couldn't bother to fit their story after the rest. They were just lazy, they can name it whatever they want, sheep will still buy whatever they sell but the reality of the situation is that everything post-Warped got deleted.

What I feel bad for Crash is the people who hate the trilogy and the fourth game for bad or no sense reasons, literally anyone can play and have fun, if you are struggling on the levels, you just need to practice. there is no reason for the anxiety of die, you just need to feel good playing.
@@michalkrchlik1745 Do you really mean that? I honestly planned to wait for the price drop or used one if it's just as long as one previous Crash game, if it's really long I'd consider buying it this month. Is the story alone really long? How many hours?
It's an absolutely worthy entry to the series but the levels are just too long imo, it gets to the point where I, a completionist, just gave up on box gems because it was just getting too long and it's not like i'd get the box gem first try anyways because they always hide them everywhere
@@rosemoonaqua While I do think that the actual levels are some of the most difficult yet satisfying 3d platforming levels I've seen in a LONG time, I have to agree that this game fell into a modern gaming trap of adding unnecessary content to feel like it's worth the $60. I'm fine with n verted mode, but incredibly high box counts, perfect relics, and reusing Crash segments for others' levels wasn't very wise imo. To be fair though, you'd only notice this if you plan on going full completion.
I got a bad feeling this game won't sell well. You get a game like this and all you see from most people is *ohh I'll wait for a sale* it's a shame too considering that same group tends to complain about games being bloated and re hash after rehash. Yet a game like this gets the I'll wait for a sale treatment because it doesn't have a 1000 hours of gameplay and a huge open world with a 100000 fetch quests, the very same thing a mass majority complain about..like wut!? lol
I mean i can quite understand it, paying 60 bucks for game that can Be completed in same day when you bought it, is kinda harsh especially when there is F2P games that gives hundreds of hours of content. But at the sametime skipping games like these kills creativity and makes market stale. They should charged 40-50 dollars instead for real. Im gonna still pay full price once i can spare money, but i cant really shame ppl for waiting discount price.
@@breadeats not shaming, just Being real. I think people are hypocrites. Which is fine but then complain about it? That is what gets me. AC oddisee for instance. People will line up by the truck load for another one of those. But you and i both know whats gonna follow. That seems more like wasted money to me. Quantity over quality is fine. Just don't complain about it later. And don't complain when we start seeing less and less quality because people ignore it over hours spent.
My main issue with the game is the amount of boxes in levels. I think the most in the original trilogy was 155 in cold hard crash but pretty much all of those were easily visible, you just needed the skill to get them. Crash 4 however they just hide a lot of boxes behind things and areas you can't see. I dont want to replay levels trying to get the box gem if there are 250 crates to find
I think the levels are too long for it's own good, if they had say 50 levels instead of 38 but they were way shorter this game would be *THE* crash game
That would be the visual design, not the level design. You could argue it is the level design, but that term is primarily used for the mechanics in my experience.
Have you played Crash 1 and 2 recently? Because going from fun to frustrating really is part of the game here imho. I had rose-tinted goggles and forgot that if you want to go ''completionist'' on Crash 1 and 2.. well... let's just say I don't consider the Souls games to be all that frustrating anymore...

The great thing about Crash is that you can always hop right in and have a good time, it never gets old
This game was just frustrating to play
As someone who is a huge fan of the original trilogy and CTR, my biggest concern is adding too much new 'stuff' that makes it take away from the simplicity (for lack of better word) of the original trilogy. Warped had the perfect amount of skills/powers and collectibles (gems, time trial relics, crystals), and I was worried that adding more to this would become too much. With that said, I am for sure buying this game as it does look like it keeps the 'feel' of the original trilogy.
You will definitely feel some clutter with the quantum masks and those awful flame crates. Both slow the pacing to a crawl
@@poly_g6068 Dude, Crash 3 has so many different playstyles. I have no idea why this one would feel cramped in comparison. Also the flame crates take up less time than bouncing on bouncy wumpa crates in the original 1 and 2 for reference.
@@ChristopherWaddelow You can destroy bounce crates whenever you want and they won't kill you
@@poly_g6068 Yes, but if you want all the wumpa fruit, and they are placed in platforming challenges to make you have to jump on them all five times. I only arguing for the timing parr, whether they kill you or not is neither here nor there.
@@ChristopherWaddelow Adding yet another crate that makes you wait is just clutter dude
For real man,i agree with you 1000000%
Waay too much spoiler footage for my liking, you really do go a bit crazy on it man, please reconsider in the future, I did give a like to support but just keep it in mind for future reviews, I would actually be able to look at the actual video :p
But that being said, I'm glad you enjoyed it, game sounds amazing, just have to ask how close you are to getting the full completion rate?
I looked away at some parts as well. When he went through the level select map, I turned away. Great video overall!
I was sad seeing boss fight
It wasn't that bad
Honestly, whenever I prepare to watch a game review, I expect to see spoilers….otherwise why even click on the vid? lol
I watched the video but wasn't paying full attention. Saw a bit of the world map but no bosses.
I don't get why they made the game so difficult. The game would be so much better if it played like the trilogy in being far.
Please stop with the "brutally honest" in your title. It's so damn cringey.
@MGTOW Enforcer lol what? "this guy has no idea what brutal is he has never disembowled somebody to metal"
@MGTOW Enforcer Bet your name is Kyle and you punch the walls of your home every time you drink Monster Energy
@MGTOW Enforcer man your a classic chad I bet u just choose to fight someone for no reason.
I think you should beat the game, and if you still want more, go for the gems. But definitely do not try to do them on your first go.
22 years for a sequel to Crash 3.
Does that mean we will finally get Rayman 4 in 2025?!
Maybe? C'mon Ubisoft, no one wants AC no more.
Forget modernity. Embrace tradition.
Yea ac kinda sucks now
Is the game out for physical or is it only digital
Both
I can't even go through the levels, getting all all the boxes is completely unachievable. Crash Bandicoot 4 is just too difficult. It should be easier and available to more people, like the older games were. This is just too much - not fun.
Nothing brutally honest about this, unfortunately. Can we please talk about the padding issues?
when i played this for the first time , i didnt feel it the way that i wanted, somehow old school crash had something that i didnt find it in this game
The gameplay would be fast and exciting if it didn't make you waste time smashing every single crate especially the ones you have to repeatedly bounce on, the games even grade you on how many you got/missed in a level........ kills the pacing....
Have you played any other crash game? It's always been like that
I died quite a lot playing the N Sane Trilogy but here it's just ridiculous. Still though it's weird when I was young I found dying a lot too much but now? now I just take it in my stride. This game to me was well worth the wait and I really REALLY hope they decide to make a new Spyro game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and possibly PC and Switch too.
the game looks absolutely beautiful!
in the next game Crash will have to help Goku and Vegeta fight Moro after he escapes from Galactic jail as well
The controls are super floaty I think it's because I never stopped playing the n sane trilogy
I love this game. It's everything I hoped for from the classic games. Surprisingly difficult, too.
My man totally. The life system took me back to being a kid playing crash 1 and 2
I gotta disagree with the soundtrack critique, I think it’s the best one. Booty calls and Hit the road are some of the best imo.
Getting all of the boxes in some of these levels looks infuriating
Has it ever not been infuriating?
It looks like I rather do something else. Love the game tho
azmir johari not this bad. After playing the originals not too long ago and watching this, it’s a definite difference in accessibility
Nice to see your a real crash fan ..awsome knowing you go after every challenge
Review was alright but that title feels really click baity.
All his reviews do that now. I dislike it as well. Does it mean his earlier reviews were lies because they weren't "brutally honest"
Can't wait to play this tonight! Great review, and the music isn't a big deal for me bc I usually listen to my own music while playing these games anyway
Everything is coming full circle in gaming, I called it, Tony Check, Crash Check, next...
Sly Cooper 5 or at least a fucking remake I hope sucker punch or Sony hears the fans prayers because some of us are full grown men who want a game but that’s not so childish as 4 was
To be fair. Having the mask segments get harder is in the nature of Classic Crash games. I mean, holy frick. Piston Away still gives me ptsd.

Celeste players: “first time?”
Only 6 hours for $60 ? Doesn't seem worth it
There is still a butt load to do. Like replaying levels to get different jem's, or playing flashback levels which are very difficult.
6 hours if you just run through the game. Fully compliting the game takes probably 20-30 hours depending on how good you are
If you only play a game for the credits to roll, then yes, it ain't worth it.
Did dreamcastguy mention how it is compared to crash 3?
My only 2 main complaints were this (SPOILERS):
Everything else was so damn good. a 9 out of 10 sounds right to me!
okay i agree i also found the bosses to be really easy?? especially since they added checkpoints after basically every time you do damage
Looks like such a great game! really hoping you hit that 200k before 2021, YOU GOT THIS! see you next time
are sapphire time trial relics back in this game?
Lol. I love how everyone's first gaming experience is always directly related to every single "brutally" honest reviews people do. By the way, this isn't brutally honest. Saying something closer to the line of like hey, I got a name I use for myself based on a system that's never been relevant and I have the perfect face for moustache rides. That's brutally honest.
Don't be so hard on yourself guy.
How hard is it to get platinums in the time trials?
Didnt think anything was wrong with the music
I agree with everything you said accept when you said the music kinda sucks. The music is so good. Are your ears ok? 🤣
Compare the music to twinsanity. They should've done their own vibe to show that there not trying to hard to inspire the naughty dogs version. But the soundtrack in this game was okay.
The music is really good and i dont know why people say its bad
This is so refreshing to hear that this game keeps spirit of original while inventing more fun ways to play it i'm so hyped for this game man and i'm glad based off what you experienced that they delivered on all fronts its good to know i can still for now trust toys for bob as developers. Definitely gonna pick this up day 1 and play it during vacation this week. I tend to already be sold on games that look good and feel good but with activision publishing i had my doubts and i needed a 2nd opinion from a youtuber i trust because i wanted to make sure that i was gonna have fun with this game without it feeling like it has all the traps of a modern TRIPLE AAA video game.
A level editor would really add to the replayability
My favorite ps1 game is back, I'm so excited for this. Great review, thanks
If 60 seems to high this should be a definite pick up when it goes on sale!
Is it me or is every game franchise this guys FAVORITE
Oh snap! Noticed the Spyro balloon in the background of one of the levels!
Great review buddy! I wasn’t sure about this game...which is funny to say because I’m a huge crash fan. After this review, it’s a no brainer!
They are just nailing all these remakes and remasters. It’s like the opposite of how it is with movies
So true. For example, the original robo cop is an awesome movie, but the remake sucks ass compared to it. On the other hand, going from the old graphics of the first 3 crash games to the n sane trilogy is a massive improvement.
Nice Review. Is this coming out on PC by any chance?
It might come on PC next year
N. Verted is not ultra hard mode. It is the same course with a filter attached. Still fun and I like them, but oof, not the best review.
I'm so excited for this game! Question is: should I finish up the N Sane Trilogy first?
yes
Eye of the Osprey Yes. Also try to get the secret endings to understand the whole story. Or just look them up.
Just look them up lol
1:45 those are still cannon just different timelines or dimensions I guess
That's just a lazy excuse because they couldn't bother to fit their story after the rest. They were just lazy, they can name it whatever they want, sheep will still buy whatever they sell but the reality of the situation is that everything post-Warped got deleted.
I guess yeah
@@KOTSOSMC2002 Who gives a shit, anyway? Everything after Warped and CTR was mediocre at best, trash at worst. A clean slate is exactly what the franchise needed.
@@ShimmerScarlet Nitro Kart is great, Wrath of Cortex was good, Twinsanity was great, Bash wasn't that great but was super fun with friends, Nitro Kart 2 was fun, The Huge Adventure had good gameplay, N-Tranced was great. Yeah, only thing that's trash here is that point of yours, Crash has had objectively good games post-CTR, you're just to blinded by nostalgia to see it and if you don't care well, not much of a fan after all I guess.
@@KOTSOSMC2002 What nostalgia? I was born post- PS1 trilogy and literally grew up on ps2 with Wrath of cortex. It was buggy, uninspired, and I never bothered to finish it on three separate occasions. If anything, the only nostalgia I can think of is people actually *liking* those games. The last decent Crash game until now was Twinsanity, and even then the time crunching behind it ended up ruining its potential.
Nitro Kart had horrible physics and was a mediocre kart racer, so don't try defending that, thank you.
If anything, you sound more fanboyish and nostalgia blind then I do, calling the new game a "lazy retcon for sheep" while praising every game that quite literally hurt the series so badly, it went dormant.
DCG, you rock. I have loved Crash since I was a kid, and your reviews are basically the only ones on RUclips that I 100% trust. 👍 Now I can’t wait to play this game!
Haven't watched the video yet just started it. Just wanted to say you're channel is growing fast keep it up! :)
Great review...but do you still get a gem for hitting every box? Surely they have kept that in?
Great video bro nearly at 200k subs👍
my first experience with 3-d gaming was when my parents (who were quite poor at the time) rented a Playstation 1 from blockbuster for my brother and I, along with 2 games. Destruction derby 2, and Battle Arena Toshendin 2. I've been a gamer ever since.

Happy to hear there still a little challenge to all the platforming!
I wonder if it will get a switch port?
ohh man that was brutal... I'll need some days to recover.... the game developing scene must be trembling right now..
I’m glad I rediscovered you through Spawn Cast (or whatever it’s called). To be eh, brutally honest, I couldn’t handle your early narration style - but I’ve been enjoying your content as of late. Great review, look forward to picking this game up. Catch you on the next one!
So is it really only 6 hrs long?
It can be 100 hours long if you try to 106% it
Looking forward to this one
WTF is this guy talking O_O
There are not over 50 levels, there are 38
The N verted levels are not "hard mode", they are mirrored with slightly different boxes
idea of time trials is not to go under two minutes, on many levels this is impossible.
Seriously, WTF???
Damn will it be out for the switch as well? Should I get for switch , x one , or Ps4 lol. I guess crash b 4 and cyberpunk will keep me busy till I’m ready for ps5 around feb or March on there restock lmao 😂
What I feel bad for Crash is the people who hate the trilogy and the fourth game for bad or no sense reasons, literally anyone can play and have fun, if you are struggling on the levels, you just need to practice. there is no reason for the anxiety of die, you just need to feel good playing.
I been going back watching old CGE videos and its oddly nostalgic
How are reviews already out for this game it's been less than a day
Good job on the review Dreamcast Guy. Might pick this up when it goes on sale.
You didnt want them to change the pacing and formula of the original to screw it up like they did with battletoads? Yeah I can see that
I cannot imagine this game is worth $60. Maybe $29.99 at best. Also, waiting for the microtransactions to drop after everybody's day one reviews.
It's the size of the 3 original games, so I don't see why it's not worth 60$
Nintendo re-releases Donkey Kong Wii U on Switch for full price. People ate it up. This is a full brand new game, either buy or wait for a sale.
@@michalkrchlik1745 Do you really mean that? I honestly planned to wait for the price drop or used one if it's just as long as one previous Crash game, if it's really long I'd consider buying it this month. Is the story alone really long?
How many hours?
This is the best Crash ever, people just dont want to admit it because of their nostalgia ....
How ironic cuz this game is obviously for the hardcore fans who wanted more challenge than nsane trilogy. Full of fanservice too.
@@lapsedilationdrive3943 exatly!
It's an absolutely worthy entry to the series but the levels are just too long imo, it gets to the point where I, a completionist, just gave up on box gems because it was just getting too long and it's not like i'd get the box gem first try anyways because they always hide them everywhere
@@lukes.854 My complaints about the (good) old games always was that their levels were too short. So ..:) :D
@@bes5164 nice
They overdid with crates hiding off camera.
They overdid it with a lot of the things in game, it can get annoying.
October 1 or October 2 I’m confused please explain
A little nip pic but I think the developer should have dialed back on some of these challenges with me
I got a bad feeling this game won't sell well.
You won't pay day one for a 60$ game that's giving you an amazing experience and hasn't been seen in years! , though potentially short. But pay 60 day one for another 100 hour copy paste.
I'm digging the level design, very colorful.
I platinumed crash 1-3 and woc multiple times, i don't even want to try once with crash 4
Crash 1 I get, but 2 is so much easier
