Thank you, my dear sweet ANGEL!!! I'm an newly retired person and have been sewing for over 50 yrs. THIS type of zipper has always been my nemesis...until now. THANKS to you & your brilliant way of teaching..I just did it perfectly and it's all due to you. I'm holding on to this video because it was the answer I've spent years looking for! You are wonderful and thank you!!!! It made a difference in my world!
You read my mind Alisa, this video is right on time. I was scared to start making my son's school uniform due to this zipper issue. Now I can do that as well. Thank you so much.
Just watched this video after watching your one of different seams. Both videos are fantastic. Each one you do in a way to make them easy to understand and follow. So a huge thank you for spending the timed to teach us. Stay safe everyone and happy sewing.
Glad you like them! When I make these I try to think of what was the thing that made it all "click" in my mind and then I approach the video from that position. happy sewing :)
The best tutorial! If I tried again to do this as per Vogue pattern instructions, I would have had another mess on my hands. Thank you for being so clear, concise and having great camera angles.
I come across your videos and honestly how in depth you explain and break steps down is so great. thank you for creating sewing content. I am new to sewing and these videos help loads.
Thank you so much I've had this video saved for a while now but my daughter would like me to make her a pair of trousers. I've seen zips before but always found the methods rather clumsy your way is genius and so rewarding. Thank you.
I patiently waited for a zip tutorial from you. It’s finally here ❤️. By far you are my favorite RUclips sewing guru. You explain clearly. I have been watching so many zip tutorials and I get confused and demotivated. They all seems complicated for me (and my learning ability). I love your tutorials because it illustrates the simplest way to get things done. Once I achieve getting this done only then I have the courage to try the complicated tutorials. ❤️
I've been struggling for daaaaays to figure out the pattern instructions and almost gave up. Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. Finally feel confident to tackle it myself ❤
Hi I am a new subscriber. I just made my first ever fly zipper like you showed here. It's not perfect but I am soo happy for the first time. I was terrified and being avoiding any pattern with fly zipper but now hope to sew more.Thank you very much 🤗
Brilliant! I have spent *hours* trying to make a zipper fly (then picking it all out, then sewing it again, rinse, lather, repeat!) I'm almost looking forward to making my next zipper fly, armed with your inspiring instructions!
I'm new to sewing. I made my first garment in February and I'm still nervous about what I'm capable of. Your channel is amazing. Your videos are clear and easy to understand. The information and lessons that you give are invaluable and you actually give us all of this for FREE! Thank you so much for what you do ❤️
I also found her videos so easy to understand. Especially for beginners. Great to see others try their hand at sewing. Hope your enjoy your new found sewing journey. It can be quite mind blowing when you first start. Just go at your own pace and you will have a great time learning your own style like i did.
Thank you so much dear i learn from you how to fit the zip i was looking so long to fiting the zip but it's very difecult for me but when i saw your style it simple and awesome ,
Your explenatiins and warning for newbies are just priceless. It's look so easy when you doing It. I have so unusual body I most of my life have make tailored clothing by my mum or uncle (Prof tailor) until I come to UK and clothes are absolut nightmare. I wearing most time badly cut t shirts and leggins -hate it .
Thank you Alisa. So far I have been sewing pants and skirts with elastic waist lol. I feel intimidated by a zipper. I might give it a go one day soon 😊
Super informative! That darn zipper guard has had me stumped so many times! Grand idea adding it at the end! It is going to save me a lot of picking out seam time! And with all your helpful commentary, this video is going to bring a lot of success! Thank you!
Thank you! This was so clear! I'm just learning about zippers. Last week I made a lined a pencil bag with a zipper, just to get the hang of it. Now on to zips for clothing....I want to be able to make a dress with a zipper back for my daughter. 💚
Thank you very much for your tutorial, it is very helpful! I would like to make linen pants like yours. A video would be great ( sorry for my bad English 😊)
Thank you for this video! I'm afraid to try zippers and your instructions inspired me to try! Would you please share your skin regime? Your skin is stunning.
This is great. I am intimidated by zippers. I'm going to replace one in a pair of jeans first. I will be making shorts with a zipper 🤞. Also, I've decided to make an elastic waist in the bubble bum dress (lol). I think it will work.
Ooh, yes, zippers can be a bit scary - but it once you do a couple you will fall in love :) I just posted an EARLY ACCESS for Members on how to sew a lining and a zipper in a hoodie jacket - take a look, it is so easy :)
I need to try this. When my children were little, I made their t-shirts and pants, but stopped making pants for my boys when they got older and started wearing pants with fly fronts. I sewed for my daughter for much longer, making skirts and dresses for her. My children are now in their 40’s and the oldest is 50. Thank you for this video and clear explanation!
Thank you so much. I have always had my zippers right over left for ladies and left over right for men, just the same for shirts. Evidently, this goes back years ago when a servant dressed the ladies.
Your step by step process is the easiest/least fussy I’ve seen! Fly zippers have been on my mind lately so this is quite timely. My only question is why the fly shield isn’t a bit wider to extend all the way to the edge in back (in effect lining up both serged edges) instead of being a strip just wide enough to cover the zipper back? My thought is that it would look cleaner with only 1 edge of stitching showing when looking at the back side of the fly, and may be easier to line up and sew. Is there a reason it should be narrower and not extend over to meet the other serged edge or is it user preference? Thanks so much for the sneak peak and for all the great teaching you do - you’ve given me so much confidence in the sewing room!
Lin, hello there! You have a great point! For me, it is totally a user preference as long as it does not compromise anything else - fit or ability to move in the pants. I would say when you are ready for the shield part - just see how wide you want it so that way is it is how you envisioned it. But a very great point, thank you! And thank you for being a member, I truly appreciate it!
Thank you for your thoughtful reply to my question - I will follow your advice! I always look forward to your videos because of your clear, step-by-step teaching style and your kindness. Have a wonderful day!
I just workshopped the fly front and achieved great results! I’ll practice a few more times to get it tidier because I was a little sloppy in my practice, But TWO fly zipper applications that work and look great from the front - no need to be intimidated anymore! Thank you, ‘my dear sewing friend!’ 😊
Amazing 🤩 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I thought that sewing this kind of zipper was really difficult 😅😅😅. But you make seem everything so easy. I will give it a try, for sure. I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I love your videos, Alyssa! I would love to be a paying member (for the incredible work you do) , but it seems like I can only become a member if I have a computer. Does anyone know if this is right. I am one of these strange people without a computer. Course I have one in work but would rather not try and do private things on it. Can anyone help me?
Wonderful. That is a lot like making a lapped zipper (only better). I have caught my skip and my skin in a placket zipper. Yes, I got blood on both my slip and dress. It isn't easy to get yourself out of a metal placket zipper.
Hi, can you help? I'm using a metal zipper to sew jeans. I've made 3 pair so far. The teeth of my zipper on my zipper fly always show when zipped on the finished product. What do you think are some of the causes?
Do you have a video that shows how to add that zipper flap/extension (no idea what it’s actually called) to a self drafted pants pattern? I drafted the basic block based on your videos.
Thank you, my dear sweet ANGEL!!! I'm an newly retired person and have been sewing for over 50 yrs. THIS type of zipper has always been my nemesis...until now. Do you have any videos showing the basic measurements one should have written down? Like the most common ones that don’t usually change on an adult.
Go to my bodice block videos and basic pants videos and you will see, then make a list for yourself.
@@ThoughtfulCreativity thanks 😊
thx alot mum for trying to simplify bt how abt if u dnt hv tht tape to place
