Absolutely fantastic didn’t have to wind the video back at all .the instructions are so clear, I was ready to give up on my trouser pattern but now I’m ready to go🎉🎉
Wow!!!! Greetings from South Carolina USA! I've been sewing for 50 years and never came across this method. I can't wait to try it when I sew my Spring pants. Thankyou!!!
Thank you so much. It’s like the fly on my cargo pants, which I wanted to duplicate. I wasted a day on samples with poor results using other videos. Your video was clear and simple!
I am super excited for this zipper tutorial! I haven’t attempted a fly zip yet. I don’t watch TikTok much at all. I much prefer watching my tried and true RUclipsrs like you two ladies! So thank you very much for this video!
Literally the EASIEST tutorial omg. I've been watching SO many videos recently to try and get this done right, and this is absolutely the easiest one I've seen by far. THANK YOU!!!
I spent an entire afternoon yesterday trying to follow the pattern instructions on installing a fly zipper. I’ve just unpicked it all while waiting for my baby grandson to wake, and will re-install using these instructions next chance I get. Thankyou!!! Edited to add. Amazing method. I need to make a note to use this as my Go To method for fly zippers.
I have a mental block when it comes to fly zippers. Here tutorial is the easiest I have seen yet. My goal tomorrow is to finish the one that I started on yesterday yesterday.
I've sewn two front zips with this method now, and I love (!) that it provides more closure for the zip than the other methods I have used. Even with jeans that I have made that fit me perfectly, the zip teeth can stick out every now and then, and I don't like that. That doesn't happen with this method. The only thing I struggle with is to make the topstitching as neat as with the other method, particularly the typical "jean topstitch" where the front crotch seam meet up with the fly, if that makes sense. Well, I guess practice makes perfect, so I'll keep on this track. Thank you so much for an excellent tutorial!
Well ladies.having spent an hour wrestling with a trial zip fly on the second hottest day of the year I was VERY glad to find this. I will recut my trial pieces tomorrow and try this way… Thank you both very much!
I picked and ripped the dadgum zipper out so many times I'll never get into the jeans because I had to cut so much off the material-- then I found this. Thank you. I'm still confused, but at least I can get the zip in. Thank you both!!
The third thing I ever attempted from a pattern was a pair of pants with a fly front zipper. I read the instructions, I looked at the illustrations, I failed at the execution thereof, and moved on to skirts. This doesn't look too hard. I noticed that no frogs had to be sacrificed, and also, no salt rings had to be made on the floor. I'm not sure what kind of magic you used, but I'm sure it had to do with turning the trouser pieces upside down. GOOD JOB!
Thank you for this video, I wish I had seen this one two days ago when I were sewing my first ever pants. But I managed to make it well enough. NOW I'm doing this method next time, it just looked neater and not to mention easy!!!!! Thank you yet again for sharing and showing. Greetings from Kenneth in Norway.
I am going to try your method now!! Looks so easy and you've explained everything so well and the video quality is outstanding. I am working on a Style Arc pattern and YOU ALREADY KNOW about their instructions!!! OMG, impossible to figure it out until your video. Thank you so so much!!!
This is a total game changer. Hate fly zips and always avoid doing them, but this has helped so much. Thank you! (Saved for all future trouser projects 😂) 🖤🤘🏻
Very helpful tutorial. I am making a pair of cord jeans. I will use this method and follow along with your instructions. Thank you. I hope you post more videos soon.
That overlocker thread looks amazing! I’d want to wear it inside out 🤣 I’m definitely going to give this a try as I’m about to try my first ever fly front on a pair of shorts!! Thankyou x
This is fab, thanks for sharing. I’m about to embark on making shorts for my hubby and the pattern has a fly front but uses Velcro for the fastening. I’m going to see if I can add the zip method instead….
I just cut out a pair of navy wool trousers for myself last week and reading thru the pattern instructions for the mock zipper with their teeny tiny pictures was daunting. Then I saw this video and presto - this looks so much easier! This will be my first pair of trousers, but here is a question, my pattern didn't come with the two small separate pieces, the fly and the fly shield. Any suggestions where I might find dimensions to cut these pieces for my project? Thanks so much for this great technique and video!
