Nah. I grew up hearing most of these brands but I learned the French brands the French way because I learned French growing up. I was just wondering how most Americans would pronounce the French brands. I don't want to sound pretentious by pronouncing it the French way hehe
so you're basically stating that NO ONE in the whole world might be tempted to say gwess. Are you omniscient? For the record I teach English in France and I've heard students say gwess, then my eardrums bled... Anyway, next time think twice beforetalking about things you don't know.
Hi have the opinion that brand names supposed to be read and have the Pronunciation the way they say it in a country where the brand comes from ..example:Versace Usually it’s somebody’s lastname and I think it’s very rude and disrespectful to pronounce it the way it’s “comfortable for you” based on the country you living if this is somebody’s name you should spell it right and appreciated the way this person do it by himself otherwise it’s very low level and uneducated.
I kept getting notifications on this topic. Well, as long as people can instantly understand what you are talking about, doesn't really matter how you pronounce. The smarter the person you are talking to, the less they care about your language background and the faster they can recognize your mispronounce word. The less cerebral person will be scrutinizing your outfit and your accent, race origin, etc. Just focus on doing well with your profession and living, so less and less you need to do involve in trivial matters like this unless this directly related to your daily job and foucs . Cheers!
Hey, great video Mel (do people call you Mel) really helpful. Just wondering where you found the absolute bop playing in the background? Want to play it at my niece's christening. Thank in advance for your help, look forward to the next vid
In Spanish the " o " is not pronounced as " ow ". It is simply an " o ". Your Manolo sounds like Manowlow when it should just be Manolo. Mango should also be pronounced as Mang not Mae/Mayng and the go at at the end is not pronounced as " Gow " just go " but not with a " w " at the end.
guys its American pronunciation of these brands. although the names may have different pronunciation in the original language, i think this video is meant to show the common american pronunciation.
There must be a part two or more of this video. She missed so many more brands! At least off the top of my head: Christian Louboutin, Lanvin, Longchamps, Cartier, and M+FG(Marithé + François Girbaud) for the French brands.
There are many brands pronunced wrong so much as: Cloe and Hermes (French fashion names should be pronunced like french words), Dolce & Gabanna (doesnt have -and in pronunciation)
how about this- Colleziones/ko~ lez- zyo-nes... its a polo shirt brand in the Philippines, very nice to wear....a lot of color and styles to choose from!!Colleziones!!try it!
Why many people think that they gonna become rich or classy just by pronouncing these brands that mostly have their factories in china? 🤣🤣😂...nothing like having your own taylor man and design your own
ThewayICit Because if you pronounce the "right way" in US, people will likely don't understand you. The same goes to every country you may go in the world. You just have to learn to pronounce stuff in the vernacular language (even if it may be the "wrong way"). Nobody is teaching the whole world, like he/she was saying: "Hey, whole population of the world, this is the right way". IMO
No it is adeedas cuz it’s a German brand and that’s how they pronounce it so u usually u go with the country It’s like Gucci u pronounce it guchi not guc-ci
3:10 An internet meme goes shopping: - How much are these shoes? - Sorry, sir? - I asked, how much are these shoes? - Sorry sir, what did you say? - WHAT IS LE COST
The Spanish ones are incorrect. It is not 'zara but "Thara" with the first sound as in "thing". It is not Mangou, but Mango with a final simple short sound as in "log". The same happens with both "o" in Manoulou, which sound as a short O. Actually in Spanish we just hace 5 vowel sounds, A as in cat, E as in men, I as in hit, O as in log, U as in "spoon" but with a shorter sound.
+asunagullo People from Spain pronounce the Z as an Th. Zara would de "thara". But people from America say it like the middle between the s and the Z. It's sounds like " Sara" It's hard to explain in here. If you live in Europe you'd probably learn the pronunciation of the Z as an Th. But if you live for example in the USA you'd probably learn as an S. It's correct what was said before. But this is something like a complement. Bye. 😊
Why the fuck would you pronounce FRench or any other languages for that matter in English, when all the other people have to pronounce American brands in their accents to be understood
Another Useless Username any other language/company could do this plus WHO CARES! People are acting as if, if they mispronounce anything it's the end of this earth. Calm down. Things like Louise Vuitton. Someone in the comments said it was sounded Lewy Vwetton but someone had to explain that the one in the video was correct from its germanic descent. If your really upset about it, change it for god sake.
lol....well...the title does say - How to pronounce it in the 'American' accent. not necessarily in its original language. so i guess she's right in that sense :-P :-P :-P
Ok, in that case I will pronounce Nova iorche instead of New York, Vascinton, Iova, Ponte di Broccolino, Gigia Adidde instead of Gigi Hadid, and better of all, I'll create a new video where I teach to everybody in the world the ITALIAN pronunciation of all the foreign names... Potoscioppe, ipone instead of iphone, and I can go on with stupid words...

"Versace" is an italian name. So, the right pronunciation is " versacE" not "versaci".
You are correct 👌
Finally Americans keep butching this name 👍🤔
in spanish we pronounce it like that as well versacE
Hi have the opinion that brand names supposed to be read and have the

Exactly! It bothered me quite a bit on how she pronounced Mango. Im from the Philippines and we pronounce it without the W.
Anglo speakers. They like to add dipthongs to everything.

Zed Shockblade yeah Donatella does the Italian pronunciation obviously. It’s more common in English to hear versachee
Raúl Villanueva. entonces como se pronuncia ?

Hila Glam "Bal-mah", often incorrectly pronounced as "Ball-mane", and "Loo-buh-ton".
without this video i would have spent my whole entire life saying gwesse instead go guess this helped me a lot really thank you so much!!!!!!11!1
Why perpetuate mispronunciation of European fashion names?
ThewayICit Because if you pronounce the "right way" in US, people will likely don't understand you. The same goes to every country you may go in the world. You just have to learn to pronounce stuff in the vernacular language (even if it may be the "wrong way"). Nobody is teaching the whole world, like he/she was saying: "Hey, whole population of the world, this is the right way". IMO
vanderson30198
Why? In Europe we also learn how to pronounce names the correctly, even if it is not our mother tongue?
Donatella confirmed it on Vogue that it's not pronounced as "Ver-sa-chee" but as "Ver-sa-cheh" 😊
The frech ones are incorrect
+matilda290 Don't waste time, Yves Saint Laurent is so wrong.
+Charles Xu Has anyone French put up a video like this? The French ones are the only ones I need help with.
Roy F. not sure. did you do a search on youtube/google?

Zara is spanish,so it should read like sara,my husband came from spain. He corrects me so many times.
Is "mango" that hard I mean we learnt that word when we were just four to five years old
the background drums sounds cool. Appreciated, it what's the title?
For the french part : don't tell bullshit to people, if you don't know how to pronounce it don't make people do other mistakes...
The same for italian names...
Elena Tarsia Jo S did u read the title? AMERICAN pronunciation lol
Susanna Ottavi I read, I'm not blind... but it doesn't change the question: why pretending to teach wrong names?
can you not just fucking read AMERICAN or are you just casually blind
Most people wouldn't know what it is if you pronounced it correctly. They just know it to be "Americanized," and for this audience, it is suitable.
That drumming in background make me remember the Khal Drogo ( Khalasar) in game of thrones ....
It is pronounced Louis vwee-ton not Louis vit-ton and adi-das not adee-das
EmXGarchomp only in english it's vwee-ton
She pronounces it in American English, in Britain English they say Adidas the right way
No it is adeedas cuz it’s a German brand and that’s how they pronounce it so u usually u go with the country
It’s like Gucci u pronounce it guchi not guc-ci
Listen to Amina Khan. It's going with the origin. American English and British English are two different accents. Don't be ignorant and annoying.
Amina Khan with the proper pronunciation its Ah dee das
I literally speak English since I was born, but why the heck did this vid was recommended??😝
Christian Dior it supposed to be pronounce it in French not English! ?Same for Balenciaga, Versace ,Moschino and some others...
for this I agree with using the American Christian (like in the video) - it's hard for Americans to use the French version so yeah
Wow I didn't know Guess is pronounced that way! #mindblown
Typical 'American' mispronunciation, if you are an ESL student, don't watch this very poor example, it won't help you at all!!
This is great video. I learned a lot :)
Me, too. You got a cool channel, great, my pleasure to subscribe
you still pronounced "adidas" wrong
That's how the English speaking folks call it, though. If they just knew that "adi" stands for "Adolf"...
Yes It's A-di-das and not A-DEE-das, from the founder Adolf 'Adi' Dassler.
xxLaurenxx yeah the correct ones is I did bad not adidas
Aididbad
Sounds Like some Kind of sickness when it's pronounced incorrectly :D
Thats how the ceo of adidas pronounces it
i cant afford these brands but at least i can pronounce! YESSS!

Thanks a lot, that's really helpful.

Is ZARA pronounce as Tha Da?
+John Xyrus Wayne Aquino It is pronounced as Thara, that is "th" as in "thumb" and "ra" as in "rat". The Z en Spanish is always pronounced as th.
+asunagullo thanks now I know how to pronounce Zara 😊
+asunagullo People from Spain pronounce the Z as an Th. Zara would de "thara". But people from America say it like the middle between the s and the Z. if the point of video is to mispronounce the brand names, then you did a very good job
But in British english te 'R' is not pronounced. 😕
Nice and clear sound...👍👍❣
I think Adidas is pronounced different in the US than how it's actually supposed to be. 🤔
i don’t know why i’m watching this when i was born in britain. and is the girl doing a native sacrifice with the drums

Hi, just want to give credit to you as we feature your video in our production. A great and informative video by the way. Thanks!
Adidas was wrong, all same length short syllables AH-DI-DAS not AH-DEEE-DAS
K Bear Adidas is actually pronounced the way you like it to be. You should search up how the CEO of Adidas pronounces it.
This reminds me of hermione teaching ron how to pronounce leviosa
i know im a littel late but you are right it is actually german and short for the founder of adidas Adolf Dassler
Actually I say A-Dee-Das. The same way the girl did in the video. How is it Ah-Did-Das? There’s no two d’s next to one another. “Adiddas”
who cares
Love this. Merci.
lol....well...the title does say - How to pronounce it in the 'American' accent. not necessarily in its original language. so i guess she's right in that sense :-P :-P :-P
Thank you for this xoxoxoxo😘😘
Adidas is stressed on the first syllable
thanks! it really helped me
sorry, but you have the american accent that you are not pronouncing the french designer name correctly.
Ednalyn Diaz the title says AMERICAN pronunciation lol

hermes, most of ppl in HK still pronounce its as "HER, MUST"
Some pronounces are incorrectly. Mainly the latin ones.
Kenedy Pires I can' t agree more. No puedo estar más de acuerdo
Para quem tem latim na língua nativa, é evidente que está errado.
the only one that I have been assuming wrong was Givenchy. I though it was pronounced (GIVE-in-chi) but its actually (Jiv-on-chi)
Los españoles esta un poco mal la pronunciación
Como los italianos y los franceses
todas estan mal
I don't about the pronunciation dude but the background beats are pretty catchy for sure 😂😂
