I used to be scared ordering something at starbucks because i have social anxiety and I always feel intimidated by the ambiance, employees and the customers itself. however, since i work there now and i know alot of drinks, it’s not really as intimidating as I thought of it the first time lol
Kristine Cubacub Yeah I applied without any job experience but they still hired me. I don’t have prior coffee knowledge which is fine for them because you’ll learn it on the way. Memorizing drinks for me was easy because I’m a fast learner. I’m only a month in and I already got the hang of POS and most drinks. I downloaded the sbux app and memorized all the recipes of the drinks too. One thing I noticed is that most customers will always order the same thing so you’ll be familiarized with the customizations they ask. Just don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Partners like it when you do because they know you care about the job and how to do things right. For trainings, I did two days of computer trainings and hands-on afterwards. I had practice shift for two weeks before they threw me to the wolves. It was a lotta pressure but I managed to survive those hellish week. The trainer that I had was very helpful. She was detailed when she was training us and she gave us good tips on how to memorize things especially POS. I mean, tbh It just depends on the store you’re going to work at. It’s gonna be hard at first especially if customers are very detailed with their orders. You won’t be able to catch up with them but it is okay to ask them if they can repeat it and tell them you’re still new. I had that struggle first couple weeks and I almost quit but my coworkers were super nice and they always make you feel like you’re not the only person who made that mistake before. If you like fast paced environment totally recommend applying at Sbux, however if you don’t, Ig this isn’t the right place to apply.
samiul gamer same hhh. I get anxiety ordering Starbucks not only because I cannot pronounce some of the drinks correctly, but the fact that I have to teacher the person who takes my order pronounce my name every time is so annoying, and they still don’t get it. I think I’ll just use a fake simple name next time lol

I'm a native English speaker and just stumbled upon this video (don't know why this was in my recommended). I never would have imagined that this is skill that an English learner would need to master since it comes second nature to me. Nevertheless, it's very necessary! This is such a great video on something that is probably overlooked when teaching English!!
Ah thanks so much for your kind words Maddie. Yeah it's little moments like trying to order coffee that can really stump an English language learner so I wanted to help them in a variety of these situations.
I loved this video!!! I hope you make more like this!! Like how can we ask for information at the phone when calling an office, buy clothes, order in a restaurant and ask for the special, buy a train/plane ticket, buy a cinema ticket and popcorn, call someone's house and ask to speak to someone, call to a online store's call center to request info about an order (when is it going to arrive), call to the doctor to cancel or reschedule an appointment, etc.
Your channel is really helpful. I had taken English Lessons with my private tutor since February 2018 to improve my English. And for an extra efforts I found your channel and it is so helpful. Thank you..
Omg finally somebody who knows how to successfully articulate into words what to order! I'm 33, single and I'm also from the UK. I've been to Starbucks a few times but I ALWAYS get anxiety and nervous every time I walk into a Starbucks and order, it's ridiculous i feel like a kid and i'm 33. I usually say, i'd like a medium mocha, and that's it full stop haha... i have absolutely NO IDEA about the toppings and type of milk and expresso etc... honestly i need to get out the house more! Anyways it's 2018 now and i'm planning on going Starbucks tomorrow.. i have no idea what a latte is, never had latte,... i have no idea what iced coffee is, never tasted it (I think it's also important to note that i don't have any friends in my pathetic life so i'm forced to go to a lot of places alone and figure things out for myself, so going alone only makes my anxiety even worse). i wouldn't even know how to drink an ice cofffee, like the correct way.. i'm basically clueless.. but you've put things into a little more perspective, so thank you Mr Eat Sleep Dream English man

Starbucks has so many options it’s intimidating to me ( American). BUT I braved it years ago by starting simple and took it from there. Loved reading these comments to know I’m not alone.
I used to think ordering in Starbucks is so stressful. Kinda afraid to go tbh. Thanks for the vid. Will try to go next time :) Also, that cup of caramel popcorn cappuccino looks soooo cute! Hope we will have it in Taiwan soon :")
