Hi Lucy! I'm French and I agree with your pronunciation of the French brands, except however for #1 Hermès. First, you got the spelling wrong, it's an "accent grave" on the second e -> è, and we actually pronounce the word like "airmess", with an S sound at the end. Also, I love your videos! Keep up the good job 👍🏻 😘
For me, Loewe has always been a TV premium brand from Germany. Not as old as the Spanish one, but neverheless, around since 1923. ...and it's pronounciation it's closer to 'love' ☺
true - Its a German brand... but actually, I have no real clue how Loewe should be pronounced as it is a surname. I always say "Löwe" (Lion in German) as we normally put an "OE" to be a "Ö". But as said - as it is a surname it might be way different
I speak Spanish too, Argentinian here! And to be honest the first one shocked me, I would have never thought of pronouncing Hermés as... the way she pronounced it first, “her-mees”? To me the “right” way was always the most obvious way of pronouncing it
It is incorrect hahaha. In fact it comes form “Nike” the Greek goddess known for being the victory goddess. So, as an Ancient Greek would say, it’s actually N as in Nice, I as in Informal, K as in Karate and E as in Episode. It’s difficult to explain ahahha

The noun Loewe also looks german to me (It means lion). and I looked it up and it's also a german electronics company, and in German is written Löwe, so it's pronounced Löve with the umlaut sound.
Milena Silva The Duden states it's pronounced with two syllables. Au-di with the normal «au» german pronunciation. That's what I meant by dividing the letters since English native speakers pronounce "au" as "o".
Those german brands are pronounced like you said coz they pronounce "w" as "v". I learned it in my german class. I love cars but I don't mostly know how to pronounce the others especially european cars
I pronounce literally every word that you used in this video correctly🤣 But I’m Dutch and not English, so that’s a difference. We always pronounce brands or words from other countries exactly as they do😁
Fun fact - in Poland we pronounce them all "correctly" - I mean the way you'd pronounce them in the original language. I live in UK though and noticed that most of foreign brand names are being pronounced "in English", like IKEA or Jysk for example. I struggled at first because others would find it funny or stupid when I pronounced certain names so I actually had to learn how to pronounce them "incorrectly" according to the video :)
I think that pretty many non-english speakers know how to pronounce these or at least they try, and don't just butcher with their own language's pronounciation :D
Same here. In my experience English speakers (those who don’t feel the need to learn any foreign languages) like to make every language their own so they use the same pronunciation for foreign words.
As an an American English speaker yeah we pronounce most of theses things incorrectly probably due to environment though. Although you probably should show them and for some a lot of English people learn Spanish so they should at least know the Spanish one right? Either way Nikee is the only one we pronounce correctly. Not talking about every American person, but the people I’ve met and seen.
Well, as a French native-speaker, I have to say that there is a mistake in the pronunciation and the writing of Hermès. It is Hermès with this accent è, and the pronunciation is with a s at the end, like in ‘gloss’.

In Italy we've got TV's and other electronic stuff branded "Loewe", we assume it's German and pronounce it the German way (word for "lion"). I was quite surprised to discover here, the English pronounce it the Spanish way. Turns out there are TWO "Loewe" companies, one fashion one tech, and one Spanish one German. Whatevvv... :)
@@katha4581 Is it just "porsh" Kathariana? Because I've got a bee in my bonnet about that. Especially as, my understanding is that in German its BMV (as the Werks is Verks). Curiously, people seem able to cope with that in Volkswagen (although not always).
ian9outof10 idk what she’s talking about but the girl in the video pronounced it right. Of course there’s a little bit of an English accent in her pronunciation but that’s ok it’s her mother tongue you cannot expect her to sound like a German native speaker lol. Lastly about BMW and Volkswagen, the thing is that w in German is pronounced as v and v is pronounced as f that’s why ;)
Anna hä im video ist es doch völlig richtig? Und für das adi gibt es halt verschiedene betonungen, wie bei allen namen. Dann ist trotzdem beides richtig, sonst müsstest du seine eltern fragen wie sie den namen aussprechen (geht logischerweise nicht) und deshalb kannst du nicht sagen auf welchem bucvstaben die betonung liegt, weil das jeder mensch anders macht. Bei allen namen. Bei namensbetonung gibt es kein richti und falsch.
Lucy, you're right, I've come to see "what that British girl is gonna accuse me of", but also to just look at you and listen. I just wanted to say that you look astounding! I am every time amazed by your absolutely gorgeous face and hair coupled with the brilliant teaching skills. Thank you for making me still believe in existence of true beauty in this world, and of course for teaching me the correct pronunciation of the brands that I will hardly ever need to pronounce, except for maybe Porsche. :)
Spanish: 1. Hermes (ermes) 2. Adídas. 3. Balmain. Bal-ma-in 4. Loef or Lo-e-ve. 5. Mosquino or Moschino. 6. Versache. Ok 7. Naik 8. I don't know. 9. San Lorén. 😂 10. Ralf LAUren or Ralf Loren. 12. Porch. Haha. At least me and the people around me. I had a big probem when I was 15 and I tried to ask for "Diesel" to an Irish person...
Qué real 😂 aunque Loewe nunca supe cómo pronunciarlo. Me hace gracia como ella hace como si todo dependiera de la fonética y acento del país cuando la w nunca ha sonado v.
HA! I was looking for how to pronounce SHEIN... which I found and I LOVE YOURS! I was thrilled to know I pronounce Porsche & Nike Correctly... but that's about it! FUN. THANK YOU!
I heard some call it "er-mey" And for the (r), i dont think we should say it the way french say it, because then we have to have to say "Parthelona" for "Barcelona" too 🙄
The topic here is to pronounce brand names the original way. So yes it is eRmeSS. In your every day life you can say it as you want, but she is learning people to say it in french as it is a french brand so...
My son used to have a t-shirt with Moschino printed on it, and because it resembles the Russian word Мужчина ( a man ) so much, it was the fun way to pronounce it exactly like that, especially since it was a little man who wore it.
It’s a Greek word, but it’s an American brand, and there’s certain system in which Greek is anglicized for American English which produces the pronunciation “Naiki”. It’s based on Classical Greek with many vowel shifts over the years, that’s why most of the vowels haven’t iotacized like in Modern Greek.
3:02 in spanish W is not pronounced as V that is in german. W is pronounced as u. Loewe in german not spanish. Sorry but you do not know some aspects of what you are saying
151621 I agree and I double checked that right after she pronounced it, believing my Spanish knowledge was sufficient enough. Though this is correct, however, the company was founded in Madrid in 1846 by Spanish craftsmen. In 1876, the name Loewe came up due to a German craftsman - Enrique Loewe Roessburg - joining the group. Glad to clear that up for others. :-)
Im German w is w. Sometimes it is v or f but in this way it is w so you really pronounce it as an w and the word Loewe is the same as löwe. And that's the German word for lion.
You should also have mentioned the extremely commonly mispronounced brand name IKEA. Most English speakers seem to pronounce it like "Aye-ke-ah". For those of you who didn't know - the brand name is an acronym for Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd, the company's founder and his birthplace. The correct pronounciation should be "Ee-ke-ah". Got it? ;)
It is better not to know the origin of the brand in this case, as this Kamprad guy was a Nazi. The same is with Porsche, Hugo Boss. Also somewhat similar to how you should not wonder why one of the biggest construction companies worldwide is called Bin Laden Group.
Arina81 Relourde yeah it’s an eh being 100% accurate, but I think because of the English language or whatever, pronouncing Porsche as Porscha flows better for the tongue. Honestly, Porsch just sounds awful
That is exactly why I am here - to improve my English. Being not a native speaker is not a shame as far as I know. So no reason to blame me I think....

1:57 It’s a god of the old Greek religion, and there the H is not silent! And in French, the second ‘e’ is pronounced ‘ee’ because of the accent aigu 3:48 Again, Nike is a Greek god. Written: νικη. The ‘I’ is pronounced like the ‘e’ (in English) and the ‘e’ is like a French è. So I would say: neekè (I don’t know phonetic script, so I hope you know what I mean)

Considering that Loewe is the german last name of one of their founders, I'd have to say that the Spanish are pronouncing their own brand wrong.
TheToughestBloke She also pronounced Porsche wrong, in Germany nobody says it like that
@@katha4581 Exactly - she still sounded English...got the 'o' all wrong.
I really like the way lucy pronounce the words.
4:22 I hear Laurel
No, It's Yanny..lol
stop
ITS YANNY WTF
lol
It's YANNY
I think it PorschE because it‘s a german brand
Yes I am German and it’s PorschE
@@s0ph1aaa_ Jawohl! Einfach Porsche, Ferdinand Porsche
Katharina Robsta It’s technically pronounce Porsha :/
Cause if not my cousins cats name sounds weird.
(Their cats are cars.)
It’s Porschaa because it is the name of the guy that started it
@@joaomanuelaraujo250 No, that's wrong. It's spelled Porsche, like it's written, the "e" sounds like the german letter, not like "i" or "a".
what did you learn from this video?
" she has a boy friend"
I know- quite disappointed now... Damn it! I love Lucy!😎🤗🥰
Husband 😊
@@sarahjanealacbay6782 Yes, indeed. Unless they've divorced, which would be shocking. But then again, her boyfriend could just be another one.
Thanks always, Lucy!..🥰🥰
The French don’t like pronouncing any letters ever. Every other letter is silent.
80 @Mira Chakravarthy joi8u7
@Mira Chakravarthy My condolences.
They don't like to pronounce these but they do love to write those extra letters on every freaking word.
Pulkit Choudhary right!?!?! Don’t pronounce most letters and then add extra letters unnecessarily 🤣🤣🤣
Actually in Balmain ... it s not a question of the n, but all the 3 letters a+i + n make a special sound « in »
Adidas is a german brand so it is quite right how she pronounces it. Like Uh-de-dus
Jasmin Lawrence that's soooo incorrect. I'm German and it is nothing like that actually. :)
Mary I'm german too and it is pronounced like that lol.
Greetings from South Korea!!! Hi Lucy:)
김형종 South Korean Here too !
Smiley Ramon Happytime Hi!!! I've never expected to meet another Korean in this channel! I'm so surprised:)
김형종 :)
Kim hyung-jong? Forgive me if I am mistaken
파울라김 thank you
Lucy, you're right, I've come to see "what that British girl is gonna accuse me of", but also to just look at you and listen. :)

I know Nike is pronounced Nikey but I've always said Nike 😂
You do you Soph ❤️
Sophie Batson yeah but you wouldn't pronounce bike as Biky ??
Sophie Batson same
"Nike" is a LATIN word!! Therefore it MUST be pronounced /nike/ !! Moreover I'm Italian so I know latin so please trust me.
same here HAHAHAHA
I'm from India ,I am big fan of your voice Lucy and it sounds great madam
I come from germany and I pronounce everything right😂

xer wer same
xer wer auch Loewe ich hab’s immer Löwe ausgesprochen sonst same
It's German perfectionism :-)

Spanish:
1. Hermes (ermes)
2. Adídas.
3. Balmain. Bal-ma-in
4. Loef or Lo-e-ve.
5. Mosquino or Moschino.
6. Versache. Ok
7. Naik
8. I don't know.
9. San Lorén. 😂
10. Ralf LAUren or Ralf Loren.
12. Porch. Haha.
At least me and the people around me. I had a big probem when I was 15 and I tried to ask for "Diesel" to an Irish person...
Inma Granero why? How did that person react?
yes the clique again She didn't understand me because of the pronunciation. I had to repeat it again and again, it was funny.
Inma Granero no sé por qué pensé que ella había interpretado algo ofensivo jaja
Qué real 😂 aunque Loewe nunca supe cómo pronunciarlo. Me hace gracia como ella hace como si todo dependiera de la fonética y acento del país cuando la w nunca ha sonado v.
Inma Granero 12.nosotros decimos Porche
Cheers Lucy! 😄😄😄 I love all of the pronunciation videos.
No wrong you have not to say hermez ....but hermess ... this is a french name not portuguese haha ...
HA! I was looking for how to pronounce SHEIN... which I found and I LOVE YOURS! I was thrilled to know I pronounce Porsche & Nike Correctly... but that's about it! FUN. THANK YOU!
"British girl with missing finger nails.."
Made me laugh🤣
very proud that i am portuguese speaker and have actually always pronounced all of these brands correctly. the perks of speaking a romance language 👐
that is awesome! I always find that the Portuguese pronounce things very accurately!
Alice Bonfim i thought "romance" language was french lol
Moon Struck french is one of the romance languages!!
Alice Bonfim thanks, i agree.
Moon Struck Well it's a fact, not really something to agree or disagree with. 😂
Actually it is not “emes” for Hermès but “ermess” with the French R in the middle and a SS prononciation at the end..
I heard some call it "er-mey"
And for the (r), i dont think we should say it the way french say it, because then we have to have to say "Parthelona" for "Barcelona" too 🙄
The topic here is to pronounce brand names the original way. So yes it is eRmeSS. In your every day life you can say it as you want, but she is learning people to say it in french as it is a french brand so...
ikr what the f is she trying to learn ppl if she cannot pronounce some words correctly herself smh
Dawon
I love the waves you make at the end of your videos 😂
The pronouncition of the word Moschino really impressed me😍
No one:
Literally No one: ..uggh..
Me: Increase your brightness and Lucy would become invisible! 👀
as European i pronounce everything the right way except the nike cos its american brand
nenammus s same
My son used to have a t-shirt with Moschino printed on it, and because it resembles the Russian word Мужчина ( a man ) so much, it was the fun way to pronounce it exactly like that, especially since it was a little man who wore it.
Nike is a greek word, meaning victory. The "I" is pronounced as "ee" or as the final "e".
Yup, goddess of victory. There's the famous headless statue with wings - that's her.
You are right. I have already said in the comentaries
It’s a Greek word, but it’s an American brand, and there’s certain system in which Greek is anglicized for American English which produces the pronunciation “Naiki”. It’s based on Classical Greek with many vowel shifts over the years, that’s why most of the vowels haven’t iotacized like in Modern Greek.
is a goddess not only a word ....
@@Ocudavidimvideooo but also a Gooddes famous for her speed
3:02 in spanish W is not pronounced as V that is in german. W is pronounced as u. Loewe in german not spanish. Sorry but you do not know some aspects of what you are saying
151621 I agree and I double checked that right after she pronounced it, believing my Spanish knowledge was sufficient enough. Though this is correct, however, the company was founded in Madrid in 1846 by Spanish craftsmen. In 1876, the name Loewe came up due to a German craftsman - Enrique Loewe Roessburg - joining the group. Glad to clear that up for others. :-)
Plus it's the o and e are not pronounced separately but together and that makes the "umlaut" ö , wich is german
True but the end part was kind of harsh (no offense)
W in spanish is pronounced as in English
You got me there I only got
1. Hermés
2. Adidas
3. Nike
4. Ralph Lauren
Porsche is afaik a German brand. We call it a tiny bit different: The „e“ at the end is spoken similarly as the first „e“ in „terrible“
U know that u can just do "" instead of ,, and ” right :/
korrekt.
Arina81 Relourde yeah it’s an eh being 100% accurate, but I think because of the English language or whatever, pronouncing Porsche as Porscha flows better for the tongue. Honestly, Porsch just sounds awful
Syntax Error ok, were they trying to hide the fact they’re German...?
That is exactly why I am here - to improve my English.
Being not a native speaker is not a shame as far as I know. So no reason to blame me I think....

I'm Italian and this is an other: Ferrari. It's not Feraari, but FeRRAri. In Italian the r is very pronounced. Like you tell SheRlock Holmes.
Yes, in Italian you pronounce both letters separately wherever there's a double letter. So Ferrari is pronounced Fer-rari.
“You read the title I have 10 brands you say wrong”
Title “12 brands you say wrong”
Exactly my thoughts!🤦🤣🤣🤣

1:57 It’s a god of the old Greek religion, and there the H is not silent!
And in French, the second ‘e’ is pronounced ‘ee’ because of the accent aigu
3:48 Again, Nike is a Greek god. Written: νικη. The ‘I’ is pronounced like the ‘e’ (in English) and the ‘e’ is like a French è. So I would say: neekè (I don’t know phonetic script, so I hope you know what I mean)
is this a joke?
I didn't even know half of these brands.
Ellen Speybrouck I knew almost all of them because luxury goods are literally my life 😂
Ellen, this is a good problem to have. Trust us.
@@killerjhul I didn't really think of it as a problem.

nike=naiki
thiery mugler=tiery mughleh
saint laurent=jz try pronouncing it like a french 😂

then how does it pronounced actually? 😂
