@@John_Pither It's kind of a nice story, a gal named Allison had a shitty experience with some shitty people so she put a little rubber duck on someone's vehicle, happened to be a Jeep hoping to brighten someone's day. I have one duck in my Jeep- a sailor duck I picked up at Duck Donuts. It hangs from my rearview mirror. I've had a few left on my fenders, they don't bother me but they don't stay in.
I used to have a bare bones 2 door JL with a manual and soft top, I drove it from Michigan to Massachusetts and back, it wasn't too bad to drive from a comfort stand point.

They're not good dailys and honestly if you plan on just driving it on the road, you've wasted your money.

This applies mostly to the Wrangler though because my Gladiator Mojave is smooth as butter on the road. With that said, the Wrangler turning radius is WAY better. My Mojave is the bees knees. My TJ on 33 has been updated with all knew knuckles, hd driveline and control arms. Bilstein. It drives excellent but a little twitchy at 75mph. There is no getting around a short wheel base.

Same. I’ve owned about 15 cars. I like fast cars and motorcycles. But I don’t think I’ll ever go without a jeep of some sorts now. Without seeing the vid, it's one simple thing- live axles. You want a rock crawler? you need two solid axles.. The Bronco doesn't have it, and neither do pick up trucks anymore. This is the reason why the Wrangler is the most aftermarket modified platform on planet Earth.
My wife recently got her first Wrangler (a white Rubicon X like that but a manual). It’s not an amazing vehicle (it’s expensive, loud and slow) but it makes you so happy to drive, makes other people happy, and the few times we’ve taken it off-road it doesn’t miss a beat
I don’t necessarily hate jeep people but I loathe the people who make having a wrangler their entire personality. It seems like 99% of wranglers I see are pavement princesses that will never see a trail. They all have the same angry grill, rough county lift, fuel wheels, oversized tires, ducks, it just seems overdone
What's wrong with a "pavement princess"? Many people buy rear-wheel drive muscle cars, like my Chevy SS, just for everyday use-never seeing a drag strip a day in their lives. Many "hot hatch" owners skip autocross events and twisty roads. There are tons of truck buyers who never haul anything, lol. Some people choose cars for aesthetics, while others prioritize functionality. P.S. I totally agree with you about Jeep enthusiasts who make their Wrangler their whole personality!
@@elevenbravo6439 The difference is muscle cars and hot hatches can be daily driven enthusiastically on public roads. There’s no utility in driving a Jeep on a public road. Heck, I drive faster over speed bumps than both Jeeps and pickups; as slow as many of them are, you’d think crawl speed was actually invented just for speed bumps.
@@bdd1469 Same. I take mine off road all the time. But then I'll clean it spotless. Sometimes I'll leave it dirty for a few days. But then interior, exterior, undercarriage, windows, wheels, and tire shine. Once it's all clean, I'll go to the mall and jump the curb just to troll the haters.
@@AFTER_MIDNITE I see what you’re saying, however, not everyone is into driving enthusiastically. Some do it purely for the look. I don’t own a Jeep, but I personally think they look good when tastefully “modded” aesthetically.
I had a 06 TJ. It was like a mini work truck for me and my wife. We did plenty of off road dates, towed with its little trailer and filled it to the brim when we moved. and I loved it. When another Jeep owner would talk to me. I was embarrassed that I also owned a Jeep
My love of Jeeps started when I was in my early teens. I used to sit in my neighbor's CJ7, shift the gears and listen to the Iron Eagle soundtrack. I was told by our family insurance salesman that there was no way I could afford insurance on Jeep when I turned sixteen. So the dream died, until my late 30s. My first Jeep was an '06 TJ I bought in '09. I drove that until 2018. I bought a '16 JKU that I plan on keeping for a long time. Only 63K miles on it. I love Jeeps, but I have a deep love for old series 2 and 3 Land Rovers. Someday I will have one, just not as a daily driver. The Land Rover community is just as committed as us Jeepers.
Part of what I don't like is the amount of accessories that are meant to have a functional purpose but are acquired as decoration, plus the owners and cost to get into them makes them feel like the iPhone of cars. I like the XJs, they were big in my HS days
@nazz2406 they're also junk, the drivelines were solid but the unibody is incredibly weak. I can't tell you how many times I had to reweld cracks in my DOOR frame on the last two XJs that I had.
Any custom car community has the same autozone parts problem. It's their car, don't let it bother you. Glitter mudflaps and a snorkel make someone happy? Good for them.
I'll be honest, I don't get the lifted/chonk tire Jeep thing as a daily. I drove one and was terrified going 70 on the highway with how uncontrollable it was in subtle corners.
If a lifted jeep is all over the place at 70mph… most likely the control arms are fixed and the caster angle is about like a shopping cart. Or they’re adjustable and setup wrong. (Not good either way) With a good setup, even a lifted two door jeep with bigger tires can be very stable at 80+ It’s very common for people accept poor handling characteristics as “a jeep thing.” But it doesn’t have to be that way if things are setup properly. Of course, there’s a point to where it’s more of a buggy than jeep and it’s better to trailer it for long highway trips to the trails.
Jeep is a lifestyle, that allows owners the opportunity to go places a regular vehicle will not and make great memories while exploring nature. In my opinion, that is what makes the Jeep community so unique.
Recently fell into the Jeep community because I needed a truck. We rented a Wrangler for a family trip to the Keys. After the trip we just didn't want to give it back. Something about the way it felt just really seemed to fit us and our lifestyle. Two weeks after that trip we went down to the local Jeep dealer and I drove away with a brand new Gladiator Mojave fully loaded. 3 months after that we purchased a Wrangler Sahara for my daughter's first car. Now my 13 year old son says he wants one when he turns 16 lol. We don't do a ton of off-roadinig but we do go to the beach all the time here in Florida. And I gotta say it's REALLY awesome to drive on the beach with the top off. So....as a guy that spent most of his car culture in the Supra world I gotta say I love the Jeep world now just as much.
Natural progression for me was from Mustang to Bronco. Both are amazing vehicles, but I can have more fun with the Bronco, exploring mountain trials and getting off road.
not about jeeps but offroading in general, its not always fun to just crawl over eveything effortlessly. I think its more fun when you have to get thrown around and give t some beans if you have to. My little cherokee has a 4inch lift with 35's but man is that suspension stiff as hell, but damn its so fun
Always loved Jeeps! They have become stupidly expensive. I’m sticking to my 2012, wrangler, JK. for fun use. It has the 2.8 litre turbo diesel. RHD, auto.
My wife has a jeep, lifted. If i could buy a vehicle within a decent price range would either be a golf R or a jeep wrangler 4 door. Ive jumped hers, offroaded and slide around a dirt parking lot. I know the chances of getting stuck in indiana/michigan snow are very slim. The bad? All wranglers need all-time 4WD.
Even though I have a lifted 06 Jeep Liberty, I’ve still gotten thumbs up from Wrangler owners. I’ve met some really cool people as well. However, the vast majority of lifted Jeeps I see on the road nowadays have never and will never see off road action.
I had a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. And now a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 2 door. Can’t go wrong either way IMO. It just depends on your needs/ wants. They’re both very good in different ways. In a perfect world, I’d have one of each.
David, I’m currently 25 years old and have been watching you since I’m 12. My first car that I still currently own is a 2000 Jeep Wrangler that I bought when I was 15. You need to drive a Wrangler YJ (1987-1995) or a TJ (1997-2006) preferably with a 4.0 inline 6 and 5 speed manual transmission to get the full Jeep experience. If you see a Jeep owner with ducks on their dash, stay away from them, those are idiots that don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground.
The Jeep in this video appears to be the Rubicon X model. If so, It has full-time 4WD (4 auto) not just part-time 4WD and 4.56 gears in the rear diff not 4.10.
Currently drive my TJ more often than my 2018 Camaro SS 😂… Been looking at 2024 rubicon X recons, just like that for a bit. Not my favorite color, but I’d happily live with it
Im in a very unique spot in the car community, I’ve got a 99 WJ grand Cherokee (aka the round one) that I’ve got a lowering kit on and plan to make into a fun daily/track car. I’m about as far removed from the Jeep community while still owning a Jeep as one can get. Most Jeep enthusiasts I’ve met are ok they’re just like any other enthusiast, but for some reason I piss a lot of people off with my jeep. But I can say that I’ve got the most unique Jeep around 😎
I’ve owned 3 Jeeps, 2 were Wranglers. I currently own a 2015 JK Freedom. Stellantis goal seems to be to destroy the Jeep brand. Jeeps have gradually become more and more expensive to the point Stellantis has made them unaffordable for a lot of potential customers. I’m sure technology is responsible for some of the price increases but finding a new wrangler for less than $50,000+ isn’t likely. Off roading a vehicle with a MSRP of $50,000-$100,000+ isn’t practical for most folks. Stellantis attempt to turn a Wrangler into a Range Rover clearly didn’t work. Stellantis needs a $30,000-$40,000 base Wrangler as an affordable option for a new Wrangler.
I've had mine for 2 years now I just wish Chrysler wasn't the owner of Jeep since the chip for abs control module is on backorder and who knows how long it'll take them to start selling them regularly other than that I love it the doors and top off makes it a totally different experience than any other vehicle
@@ezfirme well it's still a mopar part since mine is a 2014 so it was before stellantis, I wish Jeep would just go independent and make their own vehicles and stop relying on other companies
Wait a second here… the back seats of a Jeep are minuscule and very tough to get out of. No comparison to even a 4Runner or Land Rover Discovery II … where you actually can fit your knees and still have twice the cargo space of a Jeep. Don’t get me wrong, I do love jeeps, but calling the back seats “really big” with “tons of cargo space” - just ain’t so.
Since when has the modern jeep community ever been known for actual off-roading? 98% of the jeeps I see have 30 profile sidewall tires on 26" wheels and underglow absolutely everywhere.
In my experience with visiting off-road shop with jeep enthusiasts, with my lifted Scion xB. These guys were the coolest and nicest people I ever come across.
I can agree most people use jeeps as pavement princess's…I drive a patriot and I probably use that for off-roading more than the people that have a more “proper” off-road set up 😂
I don't like being associated with a "culture" I bought my TJ with 50,000kms because it was a great deal (10k cash) and I lived in northern Manitoba where 4x4 is almost mandatory. It's a fantastic vehicle that does take my to some beautiful secluded lakes & I love how basic it is, but you won't see me hanging out with other owners putting ducks on other people's hoods because I have a life and personality outside my car
That trunk space can't fit an actual modern stroller. But it apparently is a ton of space 😂 not to mention those 3.6 engines are ticking time bombs. Good ways to basically burn 50k+
People can do what they want with their money, I get it, but I had a Jeep Wrangler as a rental once and it was genuinely the worst vehicle I have ever been in. It felt cheap, was loud inside, road like crap and had no power. I dont understand why people pay $50,000+ for these things. I think some people like feeling like they "belong" to a community and the Jeep people must just take everyone because how else do you explain the duck thing?.. They definitely can look cool when done up eight, but those guys usually arent offroading them either.
I’m gonna be completely honest, jeeps should not be allowed on public roads, because off-road safety and on road safety are not even remotely similar. Same situation with full-size pick up trucks, that thing gets T-boned and it is almost guaranteed to flip. if it hits a normal size car, the normal size car is a tiny ball of metal now and everyone in it is dead. Don’t even get me started on the pedestrian safety issues.
Saying the back seat is large and the trunk is large is a bold faced lie. Theres civics with bigger back seats. My dad has had 2 rubicons and even before I was an adult i noticed how small the inside of the JL was.
Jeeps have always been a basic 4x4 that needs modification for increased capability and reliability. Unfortunately Jeeps competitors in the US are following suit, looking at you Toyota.
Jeeps are HIGHLY HIGHLY overpriced especially wranglers its a fuckin joke theres literally nothing to them they are extremely cheap for the manufacturers to make but make hige profit gains on . A 2001 jeep wrangler sahara with 100k miles that needs new frame sections welded in SHOULD NOT COST ALMOST $10,000!!! They use a garbage trans you need to upgrade the diffs and axels if you wanna do anything serious without braking shit its just dumb straight dumb
rubicon comes with dana 44 heavy duty , front rear lockers, geared from factory for rock crawl, factory lift, 35"" tires. people who tell you need to spend another 30k on it for off-roading are just compensating for ....
As an XJ owner, we don’t claim the rest of the “jeep community” lol yall keep trading your infants bath toys while parked on the curb in your mall parking lot and we’ll keep exploring the world and wheeling the trails 😜😈

They all have the same angry grill, rough county lift, fuel wheels, oversized tires, ducks, it just seems overdone
I keep hearing that most Jeeps are pavement princesses, but every weekend in my Jeep, I see hundreds of other Jeeps off road. Weird.
@@elevenbravo6439
The difference is muscle cars and hot hatches can be daily driven enthusiastically on public roads.
I like jeeps. I own one. F the “community”. I don’t need a community because I like a certain type of thing.
I have a 22 WILLY'S GLADIATOR WITH A 3LITER ECO DIESEL best vehicle I have ever owned just love it
Just wait a few more years
As a jeep owner for 4 years the biggest pros are. Aftermarket support, RUclips tutorials for any repair, easy to work on, utilitarianism, Doors off😎
Everything you just listed is the norm for basically ever car or truck you can buy. Except for doors off.
XJs are sick but man do people want a pretty penny for them, even high mileage ones.
Yep people who buy Jeeps as daily don’t know what they have coming. Steering on highways make you seem like a drunken sailor 🤣
If a lifted jeep is all over the place at 70mph… most likely the control arms are fixed and the caster angle is about like a shopping cart. Or they’re adjustable and setup wrong. (Not good either way)
With a good setup, even a lifted two door jeep with bigger tires can be very stable at 80+
It’s very common for people accept poor handling characteristics as “a jeep thing.” But it doesn’t have to be that way if things are setup properly.
Of course, there’s a point to where it’s more of a buggy than jeep and it’s better to trailer it for long highway trips to the trails.
@@paulm6481not the 24's. I mean I only have a two inch with 35's but still it handles fine at 90
My 94 YJ has 4.5in of lift on 35in tires, does 70-75 without issue.

I think this should become a series with different cars and their communities/why they’re so followed. Miatas next then Golfs.
not about jeeps but offroading in general, its not always fun to just crawl over eveything effortlessly. I think its more fun when you have to get thrown around and give t some beans if you have to. My little cherokee has a 4inch lift with 35's but man is that suspension stiff as hell, but damn its so fun
I’m honestly think of getting rid of my mustang for a jeep but nvr know
I like how jeep hold it value! But they so expensive, even for and old one.
Need a video on the terminology of ducking in the Jeep community
I love the Jeep platform, insane customizability and aftermarket support. The utilitarian no nonsense, mostly traditional, design is a rarity.
Can’t deside between this or a 4 runner
I had a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. And now a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 2 door.
Can’t go wrong either way IMO. It just depends on your needs/ wants.
They’re both very good in different ways. In a perfect world, I’d have one of each.
David’s got the husky tools in the back in case he gets the death wobble!
I'm on my second Grand Cherokee. Best two vehicles I've ever had. Never seen the ducks on a Jeep before. Never understood what that was about.
asked a guy to explain the rubber duck thing and walked away more confused
Same here.
I always assumed it went back to the ducky races at the spillways.
It’s like the bracelets the easy girls wore in school
It is just a gesture of kindness between people in the Jeep community, a way of saying "cool jeep" and putting a smile on some random persons face.
@@ekahaba gesture of kindness 😂 okay then
Still confused but okay
The Jeep in this video appears to be the Rubicon X model. If so, It has full-time 4WD (4 auto) not just part-time 4WD and 4.56 gears in the rear diff not 4.10.
Currently drive my TJ more often than my 2018 Camaro SS 😂… Been looking at 2024 rubicon X recons, just like that for a bit. Not my favorite color, but I’d happily live with it
I love my gladiator. not the best manual, but it's a real fun vehicle. I do miss my STI though
Chrysler isn't the owner of Jeep, its Stellantis as of 2021.
So like a convertible, but without doors.
@@ezfirme well it's still a mopar part since mine is a 2014 so it was before stellantis, I wish Jeep would just go independent and make their own vehicles and stop relying on other companies
Go to PR and experience the jeep culture. Also do “Las Cadenas” while you’re in the island.
You should do a video on the WRX community (and also actually review the new gen WRX at some point lol).
Jeep "people" are the mustang lovers of "offroading"
Are you sure you don't mean broncos? 🤷♂️ 😅
So real
6:12 THE DUCK AAAAA HE WENT FLYIN which makes sense, he's a duck
I love my 24 Jeep gladiator Rubicon X
Since when has the modern jeep community ever been known for actual off-roading?
98% of the jeeps I see have 30 profile sidewall tires on 26" wheels and underglow absolutely everywhere.
It's fun when you get up those stupid almost vertical hills and rocks. That's at least what I picture when I hear "off-roading".
Dude, my brother owned a 2018 AEV Rubicon for years.
Tons of cargo space?
Back seat is really big?
These are straight up lies.
He should review the wrangler 392
Any vehicle can be a off-road vehicle if it’s a rental with insurance
I don’t care what the label says- everything Husky can be used as a punch, prybar, or chisel!
In my experience with visiting off-road shop with jeep enthusiasts, with my lifted Scion xB.
These guys were the coolest and nicest people I ever come across.
I can agree most people use jeeps as pavement princess's…I drive a patriot and I probably use that for off-roading more than the people that have a more “proper” off-road set up 😂
Jeep is like Harley Davidson, great for a second ride/toy, but some daily them & we all know those people.
Wanna know why I love husky tools? They paid me lol
They should have sent you to Moab for this video.
My Jeeps must be factory defects, none of them have 2-Lo from the factory 😂
My thoughts on the jeep community are that they need an intervention to make them point their damn headlights down properly.
It is a nice niche cool vehicle for $30,000-$40,000. They have lost their mind on pricing though.
Great video… However, was hoping that this guy would interview some Jeep drivers
Gas mileage is just atrocious in this car for the short time I rented one.
Best thing I bought was a jeep and husky tools
That trunk space can't fit an actual modern stroller. But it apparently is a ton of space 😂 not to mention those 3.6 engines are ticking time bombs. Good ways to basically burn 50k+
Would love an earl gray jeep. My dad can have my hydro 😃
The best jeep owners are the XJ owners. They don’t have time for an ego because they’re putting the 25th thermostat and 190th MAF sensor in their 4.0
I owned a jeep like 20 years ago so it's been a long time but I do not get the duck thing.. Could someone please explain that to me?
NVM I googled it lol
@@pickitflipit its a stupid game they play
As an XJ owner, I don't associate with these jeep people.
Better than the Tacoma and Tundra community. Hate those trucks.
Come to Colorado and do a real offroad trail. What was that a parking lot in the background of that "trail"? Brother uhhh, what is that!?
People can do what they want with their money, I get it, but I had a Jeep Wrangler as a rental once and it was genuinely the worst vehicle I have ever been in. It felt cheap, was loud inside, road like crap and had no power. I dont understand why people pay $50,000+ for these things. I think some people like feeling like they "belong" to a community and the Jeep people must just take everyone because how else do you explain the duck thing?..
They definitely can look cool when done up eight, but those guys usually arent offroading them either.
It seems to be like Harley people. It’s just as much about the community as it is the vehicle.
rental ones are crap and often lower model with no add-ons. 4xe, 2.0 turbo (has good torque) and 392 hemi engine options.
Clicked for hate on the cringe jeep community and left for too much glazing of the jeep community
The real hate is in the comments. Hopefully.
Ah jeeps, the cool version of soccer mom van
where is the cbr swapped mazda miata!! waiting on that video
Win a mall crawler! Woohoo
The duck thing is what mall crawler chicks do, not actual jeep people. You will see many jeeps with stickers that say no ducks...
I like Jeep people. Except the ones with angry grills. I judge them. I’ll never wave. We’ll never be friends.
Jeeps have always been a basic 4x4 that needs modification for increased capability and reliability. Unfortunately Jeeps competitors in the US are following suit, looking at you Toyota.
Bike motor swapped Miata video now please, thanks
Jeep enthusiasts in China collect Peking ducks.
Do the ducks represent how many dudes they've kissed?
That Jeep has 4:56 gears
Some of the best folks out there.
Jeep has a model for everyone, from the mall crawer to the rock crawer
