  • In this video, I mill a Southern Yellow Pine log on the Frontier Sawmill. This log was part of a batch of yard trees that were given to me. Today we take the OS23 by Frontier Sawmills and make it into real 2x12x12 boards. This ugly log turned out some beautiful lumber. The TYM T474 and grapple are proving themselves invaluable for milling as well as other homesteading tasks.

Put wedges in the curf for less drag while sawing

Thank you. I am learning more each day. I am hauling about 8 tons of Red Oak today. Two separate loads. Beautiful logs.

Nice looking lumber Tony. I really wish I had access to more softwoods up this way. How're you liking the Cook blades now that some time has gone by ?

I like them. The blades get here fast, and they are every bit as good as the sabertooth blades.

Beautiful job, Tony. First you were working on your tractor, then you were working on your mill 😄👍

Ok, I will break the Southern slang down. LOL! I was working on the tractor because I was setting on it. I worked at the mill, because I was beside it. 😄😄😄

I ran a bottle of VP racing "fix it" fuel through it. It came back to life. New plug too. I only run VP racing fuel now. Every two-cycle, I have perked up.

I would love to get back out there, but the rain has set in. Mid week next week. I can't wait to get my sawmill barn built. It will let us keep going no matter the weather.

Fabulous saw mill, and I love that wood. You are going to have enough to build a house at this rate! Watching from the south of France... always enjoy the uploads. Thank you!

Just saw this video from 1 year ago. I'm really new at all this but these pines are almost exactly what I have to deal with. Haven't totally decided which mill to get but I'm thinking the os 31. Have lots of questions but right now am wondering is it better to mill these pines right after they been cut down or better on the equipment to let them dry for a while. I live in south alabama and have these 60 and 70 year old pines that if not harvested I'm afraid beetles are going to destroy them or hurricanes will get them. Have around 50 to 60 of these big pines that I have to do something with. Just retired from working and this will be my next career if I can handle it. Thanks for the great videos you do.

James, I wished I had went with the OS31 and I may buy one anyway. I am no pine expert, but I can tell you it is sticky no matter when you cut it. I lost a whole truck load of pine. I bought it and it was eat up with beetles. I used the wood for odd jobs.

@@TonysTractorAdventure yes sir I am keeping a close eye on this beetle problem. I've been doing some research on them and I immediately cut the tree down if I see any sign of them. I'm 66 years old and grew up on this property and it kills me to see what these beetles are doing. Thanks for getting back with me.

It was not. It was a new blade. It only has a 7.5hp engine and Southern Yellow Pine is sticky. I appreciate your input. Tony

Chiropractors will put your back to the way it was. Get a really good Physical Therapist and they'll help you strengthen your back and learn how to move to keep your back from going out in the first place.
