  • We cut this Red Maple down a few weeks back, but we never dreamed the surprise we would find inside. This is why you should own a sawmill. The OS23 by Frontier Sawmills continues to turn out awesome cuts. We also are trying out the TYM Tractors T474's new third function valve. Bob at Bob's Tractor in McEwen, TN loaned us this Tomahawk 66” One-Cylinder Brush Grapple. It looks to be a perfect match for the T474 weighing in at 415 pounds. It will also be an asset moving boards around because of the flat fork type bottom.
    Frontier Sawmills. Norwood Sawmills, Timbery Sawmills, Woodmizer Sawmills, Woodland Mills, etc. There are so many brands of sawmills. Which sawmill do you own, and do you like it?

    Your doing a fine job Tony. As With any equipment, the more you operate and get familiar, better you get. My oldest brother who would've been 70 years old this October had a stationary sawmill. I remember when he first got established, he was green but got be a good sawyer until he had to sell it. He was a logger and a really good timber man, i suppose thats why he wanted a sawmill. Just like dancing, you learn as you go. Sometimes you lead sometimes you follow.

      It does really good, and that blade is dull. I will change out the blade before our next log. Some of the first logs were very dirty with sandy dirt.

      Are you able to have them resharpend ?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад +1

      Frontier Sawmills said they could be sharpened about 5 times. The pitch can be reset as well. Many companies make the blades also

    I am looking at getting a mill this fall. I am seriously looking at this mill or the 27. Do you have any aspects of this mill you don't like?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад +1

      If I had it to do over again, I would go with the OS27. I have passed over a few logs that were to big.

    To speed up the drying process place the boards in a air conditioned roomthe air conditioner will pull the moisture out of the wood real fast

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад

      We are planning on putting many boards in our basement which very dry with a large dehumidifier. I hope this moves it along.

    Are you looking at building a rock/concrete pad for the mill to prevent the shifting issue as the weather changes?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад

      We are looking at a concrete floor in the future. The shifting doesn't matter much. It takes only a few minutes to true up. We still want it to be mobile.

      It takes about 6 months to air dry. We will start using it next spring. We are looking at building a green wood sawmill barn.

    I have a Hudson 330 pro sawmill. The sawmill is great, but their business practice leaves a little to be desired.

    You would not believe how much moisture is pulled out of a human body in one hour's time buy a single air conditioner

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад

      We are going to move al in our basement. We have a big dehumidifier and our basement is chalky dry. I think it will dry fast there.

    I think you'll find you are using too much water on your blade, it chokes up your machine.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад +1

      That may be the case, but the older gas has not helped matters. I will see as we go forward and learn a little more each day.

  • @karl-egertdaskov6217

    your blade is too loose it throws too much and get your teeth set again because blade makes stripes and thats because of a badly set tooth

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад

      The blade is new from the factory on the second log and the blade is as tightened as Frontier recommends using their settings. The first log was very dirty on the outside so this may have dulled the blade. I do appreciate your input and I will keep it in mind on the next log.
