- In this video I am showing you guys a tutorial on how to get out really deep scratches in the simplest way that I know of. It is extremely effective and efficient!
Leave any feedback in the comments section as I would love any suggestions on this video or suggestions on more detailing tutorial videos in the future!
WLA WRESTLING, wrestling fan you basically " DDT 'ed " that panel ! nice job removing the majority of these scratches on that panel, thanks for posting
+Abel Celestin Jr I appreciate the feedback!
If you have a deep enough scratch that your finger nail catches in it then try this first. Take a wet microfiber towel and wipe the scratch. Did the scratch visually disappear when wet, or can you still see it? The water acts as a clear coat and if the scratch disappears then the scratch is in the top clear coat of the paint where the method shown here will work if done carefully. If the scratch is still visible with the water then the damage has removed the top clear coat and the base color coat and possibly the primer down to the metal substrate in which case no amount of sanding and buffing will remove.
Mark I find spit works better because it spreads across the area better to act as a clear coat for a minute. The water just beads up right away.
You are right
Absolutely correct
Repaint panel if fingernail grips the scratch. If you flat the scratch out and break the clearcoat.. You gotta repaint the whole panel (s)
Tolecut works amazing. Recommend holding block flat on surface to level the clear in a even fashion.
It's hard to believe you only have 145 thousand views on this it is amazing what you did to that car you're the man!
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Yeah and it does not fix DEEP SCRATCHES as clickbait title says... waste of time.
Need primer/paint
I am BLOWN away! Great job and thank you for the tips.
Great video! I tried to repair some scratches on my bumper by wet sanding then using a spray can with factory matched paint, but the paint-can sprayed unevenly and looks "bumpy". Will using a buffing machine with a cutting compound smooth out the paint? Thanks in advance and have a great day! Keep up the good work!
Damn out of all videos, yours was by far the best. Good job! my car got keyed, i need to repaint 3 panels and there asking 1000$.
Zee Kaym go to tj lol my car got scratched they charged me $200 to paint the whole thing in Cali that job was coming out to more than 1700
This is good better than having a scratch anyway but I find if you do this method the lacquer gets removed ever so slightly and ull notice the paint job looking abit more dull almost like a Matt look funnish you can see it on the before and after on this video. Hardly noticable but another way is if you add paint from a touch up pen to the scratch in the coded paint from manufacturer it already has lacquer in it abit let it dry then do the same method hear ur actually working new paint into the old paint and not just stripping layers
Question: Where did you get the little sandpaper/sand block for the process?
You can basically cut a piece of wood and glue the sandpaper on it. Or you can use a piece of sponge, sponge gets wet tho but does the work anyway.
will show my son your amazing video.
some one keyed his car and other cars were he lives
This scratch was definitely not deep. I myself took 1-2 hours of sanding before getting rid of a big scratch. This scratch was broad but it was definitely not deep to be mostly gone after one pass of sanding. A shot of the scratch @ 1:06 on the fence show the scratch characteristics and that's definitely not a deep one. The process is correct but be prepared to carefully sand for at least half an hour to an hour before you can get rid of a deep scratch.
That was a excellent job. What compounds did you use ? Thanks
I can’t take out all the scratches with Compound from Meguairs and I use the GPO 14 Bosch and the yellow pad from Bosch, i tried also with a quality wool pad white, I tried all the speeds, but nothing, the color it’s so nice and fresh it’s a big difference but some scratches are still there.
You need to get a clear coat pen. After acquiring the clear coat pen. You need to overfill the scratch. It takes about a 5 days for the clear to cure. Then you place tape on both sides of the scratch. Then you wet sand the over filled scratch until it is now level with the rest of the area that is not scratch. Then you simple buff out the scratch marks.
ww2717 , where do you get a clear coat pen?
@@kari07tacoma you can buy one amazon. get the turtle wax clear coat pen
Which Products Did You Use And What Type Of Machine? .. But Great Video!!👍👍
What kind of grit sandpaper should i use???
Where can I buy the wet sanding block?
I’m confused. Shouldn’t you spray some new clear coat over that deep scratch before buffing. I mean he did removed a lot of clear coat that was right near the long deep scratch.
Nice job came out great👍
What did u use in the start of the video..? What was that u were rubbing on pannel in beginning
Great job ! What was that little wet sanding knob/disk?
Hello, unfortuly, i Can not enough understand english, what is the product that you use on your car ??? Thanks !!
Great video, great finish really glossy, thank you, you have a new sub
I know you posted this a year ago but I was wondering where you got your small sanding block from?
make one
Did u claybar it before? Or do u need to?
Hey what about a garage door scratch down the rear bumper. Just happened the other day after work. Ugh I was so mad. Made 2 scratch downwards. One is a little deep and one is a surface scratch. Sorry for the questions. Hope I’m not annoying u with them. I know some of ur videos are very self explanatory but maybe I’m special that way I’d like a direct response to my situation lol 😂 so any ideas?
A product list added to your videos would be appreciated 😊
That’s good work bro. I have a few scratches on my car. About how much do you think it’ll cost at a shop to repair? Or just anyone. I live in Los Angeles.
My ex keyed my car real deep. Would this help?
Nope the video is on how to whipe your butt
Great video. Very impressed with the result. How long have you been doing this type of paint correction? Can you let me know where did you buy the sanding block you used and what is it called. Thank you.
I started when I was 14 years old so 4 years now! I'm not sure where the sanding block is from tbh but Id just search wet sanding block for cars. I appreciate the feedback!!
What grade of sandpaper do you use?
Hey any tips on how to shine up my black paint. It’s nothing like this door but it just has super fine light scratches. More like haze marks than anything. It’s a 2012 so it’s fairly new paint. Like what steps can I take to make it gloss wet shine if that makes any sense. Let me know that’s man.
Hey,
I do have another video about removing lighter scratches (its an out-dated technique of mine) but it will give you the basics. Id just focus on using a finer cut compound like Meguiars 4 cut and then wax it. Should shine it up really nice!!
That was a good video thanks ..pls can you list the materials and the items u. Need to do d job thanks
Where do you get the product
wet sand and compound with a Rotary wool pad , then the Dual Action ( porter Cable is the best ) . The Da is commonly used for light compounding and fin finishing . By the way I can still see your scratches lol good video by the way !!
will this work if i dont have cutting pads or the machine?
great job youth man ,,respect,,one love2020
Great job man looks good
Damm...your good kid! Thanks
Nice job.
What are the exact products you used please
Whichbcompound you used for buffing
The name of the product is?
wow...and no touvh up paint? i have a deeo scatch that seems a little thinker then yours..I donno if this would work...i would hope though
Tank Connors Try a lacquer pen first, make sure its had a couple of days to harden. It might just bring the scratch out from being so deep, then you can try the sand, compound and polish.
It's a d nib process 2000 sandpaper on a small block when blocking use flat hand not fingers! 400 cut with maybe a 2500 medium cut clear will distort untill scratch is fading clear not paint! Yes spot buff smaller pad a lot better to isolate scratch.try filler polish nice work
Great job pal 👍🏻
Great job 👍
Should list products you use
If it's grey but I can catch it with my fingers, can I still buff it out?
+Musicizmyremedy Your best bet would be attempting to wet sand small parts at a time then buffing with a heavy cut compound but if it really easily catches on your finger nail you probably won't be able to get that out so you'd have to touch it up!
Clear Coat Detailing thanks! It's so annoying I have no idea where all the scratches on my car are coming from lol. I always find little scratches every time I check 😐
Musicizmyremedy scratches can occur from improper washing techniques! Use two buckets to wash, have grit gaurds on bottom of buckets
How much can this last?
Whats the material u use to fill the scratches?
+Mitreto Korea didn't fill them with anything just buffed...
What products?
Hey champ what is the name of that lil tube your using
Was the scratch just on the clear or on the paint
typically if a scratch is all the way down to the paint, then you wont be able to just buff it out. This one was just a very deep on on the clearcoat of the car. good question!
Damn thanks man I put water on my car and the scratches don't disappear so that means it's my paint fuckin hatters I'm put some bullets in their car see how they like it
Where do you buy that sand paper block?
Thanks man. 🤘
Dude.... you shouldn’t just wet sand that small part where the line is. You should start small with a course sand paper and feather it out with a finer sand paper like a 5000 grit this way you smoothen the valley within the clear coat. You should also seal the spot with wax after buffing with polish
Way to go! Thanks and subscribed....
man your girl crazy, but i guess that'll teach you to cheat on her!
lol, kidding man, kidding, looks like you went through some trees in your car, lol , good on you man, keep exploring!
also, i'm a grown ass man, despite how stupid my profile looks, 36 y/o and i'm learning from you man, keep it up, really appreciate you taking the bit of time and effort to put a little video together for the uninitiated, im a 4x4 guy so never really worried about my paint too much, i was in a forest fire last summer and the paint got really messed from tree branches and the ash, it's actually bad enough that i figured i'd put the effort in to attempt to fix it this time around. lol.
thanks again buddy!
How to remove squirrels? I don’t think a cutting compound can do that
Thank you very much. I will be using this on my car soon.
will the scratch show up later when the compound wears off?
Nope! :) Compound doesn't actually stay on. The only thing you will apply to that paint that is meant to stay is a wax.
Compound doesn't fill the scratch, it takes down the surrounding clear coat so that the light is reflected off a flat surface instead of a valley.
the great all mighty G 8
Your title is misleading. It is not a very deep scratch. Deep scratches cannot be removed with the process you did. Looks awesome for light scratches though.
Freddy Acosta I classified it as deep since it catches on my finger nail very easily and required wet sanding and multiple stages of paint correction... light scratches would be swirl marks and just from wiping the car off and every day use that can be just buffed out
U good young man!
What products did you buy and from where?
The music is hideous but great video
What compound did u use
Roland Hernandez Meguirs
Ultimate compound is awesome
Clear Coat Detailing
you are the best
Deep, but still not through the base and primer, that requires a repaint. This was obviously still in the clear, that's why it sanded and buffed out pretty easily.
+Alfred Hernandez yes exactly this is as deep as they'll get where you can still get them out
What have you used there?
Peygamberlerin Yolu What do you mean?
Zach Olson the products you have used, what are the names of them?
Peygamberlerin Yolu if you check out the last video (how to remove swirls amd light scratches) pretty sure it says which products are used!
Zach Olson alright, thank you! Have a nice day..
Zach Olson has aqq
Hi what is the background music I love it
Title should read "How to remove deep clear coat scratches only"
Thie will do nothing if it goes through the paint/base/color layer
Gotallofthem1 I am aware of this though it will still help with the appearance in a way even if it is all the way down to the paint. This was a deep scratch... probably ass deep as you'll get before you get to the paint and doing this process with a paint-deep scratch will still help and is what you want to do before touching up the area
I feel the title fits the video well and it gets people's attention so I'll keep it as is
Clear Coat Detailing click bait. Instead of "car" should be "clear coat"
@@Egon1982The clear coat is applied to the car's paint isn't it!??!?!?!
Impressive!
Nice work.
I couldn't hear you sometimes over the music. Most people don't have buffer machines. I wish you would have shown us by doing it by hand.
My scratches are deeper than his 🥺
Get a touchup kit for your colour. (1) If down to paint then overfill with clear. (2) If down to primer then underfill with paint followed by an overfill of clear. Either scenario can be completed with light wet sand and compound polish.
I love the shirt!
Wow!
Nice work! Subscribed.
Plenty of scratches left on top of panel.. left and right hand side. Bet with proper light would find more. Look under a handle at 5:04 later on you can see another one on right next to front door 6:07 on lamp reflex. And its only visible because he didnt try to show it ;)
The purpose of this video was to get rid of the deep scratches. I did exactly that
You should also keep the car wet as you are wet sanding.
Where are you located?
Sheboygan, WI
Damn bro, she keyed the shit out of your whip!
Nice job
Awesome job. 😉😉😉
+Marc Fell thanks!!
makes an instructional video but says doesn't know what grit sandpaper he's using
where can i buy the tools
duvtin go to chemicalguys.com for the buffer. It's the torq 22d and just google wet sanding sheets and buffing compound and you'll find it
Good job
Nice vid
This is just detailing eventually all that buffing will disappear and scratches will come back 😒😔
Scratches COULD come back if the vehicle is not taken care of. The scratches that were buffed out in this video will never show up again because they were buffed out which essentially takes micro-thin layer of the clear coat off. If washed and waxed regularly a car can be kept scratch free for an extremely long time :)
@@clearcoatdetailing996 waxed? Like detailing it? Or waxed with the carwash liquid wax selection?
Like a higher end detailing wax. My suggestion is Meguiars Synthetic sealant 2.0
I went overkill on my last fun car that I owned, but I didn't have a single swirl, scratch or scuff for the whole year I owned it. I washed the car about 4-6 times a week and waxed it at least once a week. Car was a 2006 Nissan 350z
@@clearcoatdetailing996 damn that's a lot of washing lol but thanks
Yeah lol... Whenever I have a nice car I'm meticulous with keeping it look showroom ready at all times.
Bro what’s polish name ?
I use all Meguirs
Nice
Clear coat ain't a deep scratch
+con Ba this is the deepest fixable scratch. I'd like to see a video that shows how to buff out a scratch below the clear too lol
+Clear Coat Detailing It is titled remove not buff out though lol I have a scratch that's deep into the primer that will need more then buffing, wasn't dissing your vid
That took to long. I'm a pro, I would not use that tiny holder on those huge scratches... to much time bro
Didn't know the professional process required speed. I have 4+ years of experience and have worked thousands of hours paint correcting. My process is only improving and has gotten much better since this video.
Dont need the music, harder to hear
30K Views🤑
That constant background music makes me tell RUclips to not recommend your videos to me.
nice effort mate are you on Facebook for more query
Wet sand? More like dry sanding
J L how so? Sandpaper was wet. Therefore wet sanding
I could by wrong
I didn’t see it being wet sorry.
I sub to your channel broo
+GHOST الشبح 511 I appreciate it!
